Although it’s not the color you imagined, that gray is very popular and I think it’s gonna sell an appeal to a lot of people. We’re currently househunting and so many homes have gone to the Gray tones. Congratulations, great job and you overcame some big obstacles.!
Beautiful! Modern! Fresh! Elegant! The wood grain on this dresser is gorgeous! I like the bleached look, your original idea. It doesn't look too grey but I would have preferred a bit more beige wash. The handles you chose are amazing! Thanks so much for sharing
I’m glad you were able to switch gears. It did turn out beautiful! That being said, I would really have liked to see the beautiful wood grain. I’m a big fan of using Odies oil to bring out that luster. I think it would have worked after you bleached it. You can still see a bit of it with the paint wash & I think that adds the right touch of character! The hardware was a perfect addition! Great job! 🦋
@@tristavalentour7575 Thank you! One day in the near future I’ll try Odies oil. When you’ve used a product that you trust it will protect your piece for a long time it’s hard to switch gears but I’ve heard great things about it so I’m sure I’ll try it sometime.
It turned out really well, even if it wasn't your original vision. The adjustable hardware was an excellent choice. I have heard the bolt cutters work well on shortening the screws, but that tool looks more manageable.
The end result is really pretty! 😍 I've had the same problem with that shellac in the can. It's because it has wax in it. The spray shellac doesn't have wax. There's a shellac sanding sealer in a red can that has been dewaxed, but it can be hard to find. I've only found it on Amazon. Same brand.
I did this same thing and felt my result was blah gray as well. Almost identical to your result. Next time I’m using a more diluted wash. If more wood grain had shown through that would have been more color. I did not bleach my piece first.
The marks on top are both water marks, not burn mark, you can't bleach a burn marks. The lighter mark is water in the finish, the dark mark is water that went through the finish into the wood 😊 It turned out gorgeous 😍
It definitely looked burnt “with a scratched up looked” around the ring mark. But, I could be wrong. And yes, I wasn’t expecting the bleach to completely remove it, as the marks from a burn are not stain, but the bleach helped enough so I didn’t need to use heat to get rid of them. Thank you!
Looks good! Although I will say after the bleach you could have just clear coated it at that point. The grain was so pretty! It’s a bit hard to see after the washes.
I agree that after the color wash and the stain the wood grain was covered more than I’d have liked. Not sure I would’ve left the redness as it was though, but yes, it was beautiful.
I think it came out beautiful! And most importantly you didn’t give up and saved it from the landfill.
@@shawndelaney9311 Thanks! And I agree, another one saved.

It really looks good! Such an amazing change. Looks like it was worth the work. Thanks for the sanding, shellac, and drawer pull hardware tips 😀
You bet! And thank you.
Thank you for sharing your process and talking about the problems you ran into and how you decided to resolve them.
Of course! I’m all about sharing the reality of refinishing. Many times is not straightforward.

I love the color! My daughter has a dresser very similar that is blond. I might talk her into letting me redo it like this! Thx!
I hope she says yes!! ☺️
You always do such a great job refinishing. Love your channel.
Thank you so much, and I’m so glad you enjoy being here! ☺️
It’s very nice. I like the color. I think maybe by removing the bottom apron and adding some legs, it would have modernized it even more.
Great idea!

You did a wonderful job, but I guess I’m old school. The grain doesn’t show as much and I think it had a beautiful grain.
