I love coffee but cannot drink it on rides. End up with a bad stomach and massive headache if I have caffeine and exercise. Can happily stop for a pint or two however
Ollie's secret weapon is a PhD. You either build up a massive tolerance to caffeine or you drop out before your thesis is done, there's no other options.
Funniest video in along time. Si's lip with a hole in at the end was hysterical, Connor's 6,000 Cal and Hank's overdose made it great entertainment. Oh and Oli dropping everyone, priceless!!
Absolutely loved this! The blending of individual commentary and collective discussions throughout the group ride was really fun. Hope there are more of these in the works. Great video.
You guys are killing it with content! This was a fantastic piece of work, and I just don't get tired of seeing how much you guys all just seem to genuinely enjoy riding and hanging out together!
Best GCN video for ages, brilliant to see a group ride, just mates having a laugh and doing silly things, Ollie, leaving all behind him and besting everyone in the amount of caffeine consumed, he's so strong now. Finale of Si dribbling hot chocolate into his lap, hilarious
This is like my morning commute after having been at a dnb rave till 5am, like a compilation of scenes from A Clockwork Orange, Chopper, and Trainspotting.
Poor Hank. I am glad you all stopped and took it seriously. Atrial fibrillation et. al. is no joke. I have heard about caffeine wreaking havoc with the body's thermal regulation and was told early on to save caffeinated gels for the last hour or so of a ride. I had an issue with it this past summer when I stopped for ONE (triple) iced latte on a triple-digit (Farenheit 105), humid day and did feel quite remarkably ill on the way home and for a few hours after the ride.
I think I've watched this video once every day since Saturday, I'm sad but addicted, it cheers me up so much. Taken over from my previous favourite "how to make every ride epic" love it
I took part in the TransAtlanticWay ultra endurance race in 2018. After 2 400km days on a couple of hours sleep in a bivvy. I thought I'd employ a tactic of an espresso (and a red bull) at every service station on route to keep me going through the next day. Think I had around 8 in a 4 hour period and was dizzy, disorientated and probably hallucinating. Had to keep riding till it wore off as I thought I'd not get up again if I stopped... Not big, not clever, never again.
Hands down one of your best videos ever! Four cycling buddies out for an epic ride and doing silly challenges. 😅 Isn’t this what cycling and camaraderie is about?😂
What an awesome video, your end debrief reminded me of debriefs after a night out, it was akin to hangover chats, and no alcohol was taken. Clearly Dr Bridgewood is smashing it on the bike. Glad you all noticed, and Simon commented. Great work, well done.
Great to see the majority of the team all doing challenges again together. Would like to see more of this. A real laugh, it put a smile on my face. Good content? 🤔🤣 Well done guys 👏🏼
Coffee contains Acrylamide same as smoking, burnt chips and crisps. You be better off picking up apples from trees along your route and throwing the cores into bramble further on.
"Everyone loves a coffee stop" a bold statement, in 30 years of cycling I've never had a coffee stop, if I did I wouldn't be able to get back on the bike.
In 52 years of riding I've never stopped for coffee. If I did, getting back on the bike would not be the problem, but stopping every 15 minutes (or less!) after that to pee, on the side of public roads, with cops passing by, most definitely WOULD be. 😉☹
Absolutely loved this video! What a great channel, to add this type of video on top of the great tutorials offered, the perfect channel. Great job everyone
What an Episode! Fantastic, made me feel like I was actually with you guys having some banter. Please more of this and less of *top 10 ways to drink from your water bottle* etc etc.
Anyone else reminded at the end by Conor's High Altitude testing, and how it effected him so much less than it should have? Dude's a beast! Ollie....consensus is chalking it up to your PhD, mate.
Wasn't Ollie the "slowest" of presenters when he first joined GCN? Now he seems to be slaying the others. Would be nice to see an all out race between the bunch and stoke their competitive juices.
I think the biggest failure in this video was Si‘s attempt at drinking… In all seriousness, I loved the video and and your guys‘s proper attempt at this insane ride!
This has been brilliant to watch and as my husband said this episode is made for me, I can drink 7 plus coffees a day when I'm office based and most of my ones at work are In cups that are about a cup and a half 🤣 fun video to watch and I think you definitely had it more difficult with the riding stressing your systems too, would love to know the science behind how the combination of the long ride and huge amount of coffees affected you all! Thanks for sharing!
My grandfather would drink a pot of coffee, about 2 quarts, every day between 11 AM and 4 PM while working in the yard or garage. Then have dinner at 5 and go to work (he worked nights). My grandparent's house smelt like a coffee shop when I was growing up.
How often do you stop for a coffee on your rides?
Every take a cycle i drink cofee and smoking. Hehehe. At 50km the first, and after finish.
Usually riding only once but that's because my current rides are just to get coffee #imtheteamrunner
Never. I have my usual mug in the morning, and another small one post-ride if I feel the need.
I love coffee but cannot drink it on rides. End up with a bad stomach and massive headache if I have caffeine and exercise.
Can happily stop for a pint or two however
actually never, cause, you know, corn was already harvested...
Ollie's secret weapon is a PhD. You either build up a massive tolerance to caffeine or you drop out before your thesis is done, there's no other options.
That‘s exactly what I thought.
was about to post that.
He's just a different kind of freak
I've managed PhD without coffee, but it probably isn't advisable.
This is true, caffeine tolerance should be at least 3 credit hours per semester in grad school.
Currently finishing my PhD without caffeine. But I have become more of an alcoholic. So not sure if the trade off is worth it.
"Do we get cake every time we stop?" You're a man after my own heart, Hank.
He's a man after his own heart attack.
"Would it help?"
"Yes!"
After all the atempts on Hanks life, I didn't think the one to get closest would be a simple cafe ride.
Banter is so good. Keep these group rides going please! I’m dying at Connor’s appetite at each cafe and treating it like a food run 😂
Nothing beats a group ride with mates!
I bet Dr. Ollie has built up his caffeine tolerance while doing the PhD. Speaking from own experience 😁
Funniest video in along time. Si's lip with a hole in at the end was hysterical, Connor's 6,000 Cal and Hank's overdose made it great entertainment. Oh and Oli dropping everyone, priceless!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Definitely!!
Absolutely loved this! The blending of individual commentary and collective discussions throughout the group ride was really fun. Hope there are more of these in the works. Great video.
i love the standard 2-presenter format but I absolutely adore when they even more presenters
Noted! Watch this space 👀
To do a comparison episode. They should go to 10 coffeeshops in Amsterdam.
Haha! Good one. Oddly enough, caffeine is considered the weakest psychedelic drug... if you've ever drank enough you'll know.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@KarlosEPM it's far from the weakest, and one of the more addictive legal drugs
Very nice one 😂
Now THAT's a challenge! 😅
Next trip is with 10 beers?
sounds illegal.... let do it
Yes! That we need to see, a pub crawl
Do it all the time
Beer and coffee
Bitch, I start on 10. 😂 Guinness fuelled
This has got to be my favorite video in a long time - very down to earth and just the vibe of mates out for a ride pacing each other!
Nothing better than a ride with mates! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Love these group ride videos. More please!
That’s exactly the content I’m always looking for, relaxed but fast group rides
Absolutely
Completely agreed
Where was Manon? Given up looking for Sir Dan!
absolutely love these group rides, we need more, please!!! the banter is infectious
The tables have turned Ollie is now the fittest of the team..😁
That's fighting talk! We're sure the rest of the team would have something to say about that.
@@gcn Prove it!
Ollie’s been using sudo names again in the comments
@@gcn Based on this Ollie is the only one who'd survive one of my rides, and you're all far fitter than me.

Hank’s Kryptonite = Penny Farthing & caffeine!
Ollie’s in the form of his life. Next GCN challenge: a presenter ITT over a rolling 40-50km course on standard road bikes!
Honestly, watching you guys is more entertaining than mainstream TV. You have chemistry with each other that makes for compulsive viewing!
More videos like this! Looking at group of friends doing silly things is the best.

I’m surprised there weren’t more runny bottoms!
And the "Over-acting" award goes to...OMG! A 4 way tie!!!
Loved this one!
Probably one of the funniest episodes ever! Thanks for the good laugh and suffering to entertain all of us.
We need more videos with all of you in it. Just need to add Manon Alex and Dan!
Manon is not in cycling shape anymore.
Kudos to Hank for wearing white trousers after having a “Runny bottom”
%100 believe you guys need to do more ensemble rides. Getting so many different personalities in one place made this video very fun to watch.
Ollie's sped up voice during the fifth coffee stop should be used for the upcoming Super Mario movie. Discussion over.
Was it sped up? I wasn't sure....
@@ShannonSouthAfrica LOL! Me too. Fake or real, it was entertaining. - Cheers
Hey GCN Team, Thanks for Coming up with another amazing video!
Brilliant, great to see the 4 of you on one video, riding and having a laugh.
a whoop tie-in with sleep stats for the surrounding days would have been awesome to see how badly your sleep was disrupted the following 2-3 days.
good idea! mine was actually really good! which was part of why i said it didn’t affect me much. interesting!
GCN: 10 COFFEES during 200km ride
ME: hold my beer - 10 COFFEES while watching this video
Great to have the gang back together again. One of my favourite videos from GCN in a while.
Guys all together are hilarious!! And film editing is such a masterpiece!! We're waiting for more!!
Best GCN Video for ages, love the group ride and banter more please 👍🏻
What a phenomenal video. Some absolute comedy gold in there.
Love seeing the lads together! Great video!

Love this. Such a fun video. Had me in stitches at times. Reminds me of the old days and just having fun with mates doing random things. Keep it up!

Si not being able to drink absolutely ruined me 😂
Best video in a long time. Feels like an all-star GCN video. Only thing better would be Manon and Lloydie in it.
So much hoping Manon could join the ride too! Anyways great vid!!!
To much hassle coordinating pee stops, while men only just works.

11:41 Motion to require all GCN presenters to make Si's "Weeee!" noise every time they mention E-Bikes from now on.
Need to try 10 🍺 on 200k next.
1:08 thanks Hank for asking most important question
Nice seeing many GCN presenters in one video. Love it
The headtube length on Connor’s bikes never fails to impress me.. Especially when compared to Hank’s bike.. Haha
More group rides like this please GCN so funny. Great to see you all having fun in the name of science

The drinking bit at the end was hilarious 🤣
More group ride videos would be amazing, love it!

Ollie drinking doubles and still outlasted Hank, man is a legend at this point!
Curiously, may having an HR monitor be more informative?
I thought I Washington pushing my luck with 3 coffies before Zwift Academy finishing ride but this was hardcore. Great stuff!

All the hazardous stunts, extreme rides, and pain you've put Hank through in his time at GCN, and you finally almost kill him with a cafe ride.

I may not be able to ride as well or as hard as the crew, but I have a feeling I could do the coffee drinking part of this just fine. Thank you, uni!
You'll aft to do 10 pubs and have a beer in each of them, gravel off road obviously 😵💫
Great segment. 10 coffees better than 10 drinks, which some do on a Saturday evening 😂

Nice topic, fun video too. Glad you boys hit on the potential dangers especially- gotta guard your heart at all times.
Si trying to drink out of a mug and failing 😂
Absolutely hilarious. When Si dribbled coffee down his chin I lost mine out my nose. Brilliant stuff.

Honestly, I expected Manon to be on this ride as she said she loved coffee and its like she must have it before a ride.
