I've been stalled with mental struggles for weeks, and one of the bright points in my journey is hearing brother Todd's infectious positive spirit and "Let's Give It A Try" power voice! Thank you, Todd - for more than you'll ever know.
Hi Cal - Don't give up, my friend! You were created by God. He loves you and he has your best interest at heart. Your mental struggles were paid for on the cross and THAT is good news!!! I'm glad my big mouth and hyperactivity could brighten your day up. I can't take credit for it though. All glory to God! He made me like this and I need to give credit where credit is do. As far as your mental struggles go, remember that Jesus came to heal the sick(me and you) and not the healthy. I can't imagine what you're going through, but I do know that you can't do it alone!! Have a great weekend.
Cal Olson: Hang in there Brother! It's a platitude, but it's true: you are never given a struggle without being given the strength to overcome! You are stronger than you think.
My parents used to make these all the time in the 80's when I was a kid, as well as Lipton onion soup mix in sour cream as a chip dip! I love your videos, and I LOVE how often you praise God! ❤ God Bless you and your family and have a Happy New Year!
I never had elk Burgers but, I want to try'em. Those burgers are fit for King 🤴 Henry the 8th. I would be willing to bet you that it taste like heaven. Thanks for sharing God bless you forever more.
My mother started making these in the late 70's early 80's, and now, even at 58, this is the only way I'll make a burger. Much better than raw or fried onions (both of which I enjoy), but this? WOW!
Todd, great channel and video's. Shout out from the Great State of Texas! Love all the views of CO we get from your deck. Your 36" blackstone video from 5yrs back helped get a blackstone on my back patio. Keep the great work coming.
Hi Ryan! Texas is INDEED a great state and I love spending time there. If I could get Colorado Springs weather in Texas, I'd move my family there!!!! (we hate heat). Here's hoping that I get to get back to Texas after this national charade is over. I appreciate you watching. God bless!
Classic old school flavors. I grew up on the Lipton Onion Soup recipe book, including burgers. Well done. Keep the good food and memories rolling and we will "Give it a try"!
A little bit older then you..but I remember my mom and dad using Lipton onion soup mix for meatloaf and burgers in the late 60's. It's something I still use... enjoying your knowledge on the Blackstone for tips..thanks.
Great idea! I had not thought of it. Definitely will search out the soup at Sam's. Nothing better than using your mother's ideas. Just got the wind guards for my 36 exactly like yours after watching you and experiencing the wind problems here on the Ozark Highlands.
Just started watching your videos a week ago and I can't stop now. I don't own a griddle (yet) but I hope to save up for one soon! Thanks for making me hungry.
Thx so much Todd! I just bought my first Blackstone ... the 22" stand and lid combo. You've blessed me and changed my life with your videos. Btw, I still add ketchup to my burgers after bites. Thx for the Lipton idea!
Just wanted to say, I think your cooking is extremely interesting. I am trying to get my father-in-law interested in purchasing a Blackstone griddle for himself. I have a Blackstone pro series 36 inch...love it. Keep up the good thing you are doing. GOD bless you brother.
IUP...you and my wife of 55 years. We are from Lawrence Co. PA and ended up in Oregon. Got my first Blackstone recently and find your videos fascinating and full of good ideas.
I'm older than you, so I remember the recipes were on the boxes. There were many of them. Chip dip was a good one. Just mix the soup mix with sour cream! YUMMMMM!!
went to Ace and ordered one the day you posted the vid, got it about 8 days later, use it almost every day and I Love It! Made some Pastor , Shrimp and Chicken street tacos the day I got it so my wife was okay with my purchase after that... 👍🏼🤙🏼🔥 Thanks Todd!!
I’m late to your channel, but I too am from PA and adopted and have just recently connected with my birth mother. Thanks for reminding me of this recipe.
Hi Ray - Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it! Nice to meet you. I'm glad to hear that you connected with your birth mother! I was born in Pittsburgh, raised in Erie, and went to college in Indiana, PA before moving out here to Colorado about 23 years ago. Where are you from? Again, thanks for watching & God bless!
I grew up in Bloomsburg, PA and now live near Philly. My birth mother was only 30 miles away from where I was raised by my adoptive parents. I probably crossed paths with her a few times and didn’t know it. I also have two older siblings that I’ve connected with as well. Thanks for writing back!
Lol thanks for the blast from the past! I have consumed many of these. Used it in meatloaf too! Thanks for sharing Todd and happy Memorial Day! Hope you’re knee is healing up.
Rob - I don't know why I missed this comment earlier. Pyromania. I think that was the SECOND cassette I got as a kid!!!!! Thank you for the good memories. I appreciate you watching. God bless!
I just got online, started looking for some videos on here and just happened across this one. As being someone, who grew up and still lives in PA myself, I remember going to my grandmothers house on the some weekends and having these as a child as well. They are really...really good. Some people dont know what they are missing. It seems a lot of the good, tried and true recipes from back in the day, have been lost through the generations because no one ever really wrote them down. I remember my grandmother never really looking at a recipe ever. It was all stored in her head somehow. This recipe is on the packet and good for that. Just wanted to say I enjoyed watching this video, as it brought back some fond memories from my childhood. Also I find myself, from time to time, adding extra ketchup when i feel it is needed. Definitely a Pa thing for sure. I as well, rarely sub to a person very quickly, but after I watched this, I had to. Keep up the great videos.
Oh wow 👏 Onion soup burger. Brings back memories of the 80's . Good job . Thank you Todd And I like the bucc-ees t shirt . Maybe I will put one in between a glazed donut this weekend. Jim from PA.
Late to the game obviously, since this was posted in 2020, but a heartfelt full bore double chest thump out to you...for calling out moms and country....and great food.
I still use onion mix in crock pock . I will try it in burgers. Sorry i can't hang out with ya this year. Maybe 20201 will be good to us. God Bless America.
Tears in my eyes! This looks absolutely fantastic ! I want a Blackstone so bad, but I have nowhere to put it. I have a Big Green egg and did some Wagyu burgers last week that were great, so I'll make do with that!
Thank you for pulling that good one out of the memory bank Todd! We'll have to mix a batch up this weekend while the weather figures out what it's going to do. And your T-shirt's another reminder of last year at about this time, when I was driving through your area on my way to Ft. Worth and encountered a crazy spring snow storm! Three hours on the interstate between Castle Rock and the Springs?! Good times! Thanks for your video, and God bless you and your family!
Great video.. I always love your enthusiasm about great food and the great outdoors. You truly inspire me to be more grateful and overall happy. I hope your day is great! Also i have always used the the ketchup bottle to finish off my food lol! Never enough toppings.
Your burgers looked so good Todd. I have never tried elk before I think I'll have to put that on my to do list! When I was growing up and we would grill burgers my mother would put the lipton soup mix in them. And they would come out so juicy and very tasty. For me a burger has to have some ketchup, spicy mustard and a little dill relish.
I'm re-watching this video again, I have used this recipe several times now on my 28" Griddle Rangetop Combo and made "Smash Burgers". They really taste great. I know fat means flavor but because of a family member that can't have fatty burgers, I had to use 93% lean so the Lipton's Recipe Secrets Beefy Onion is the bomb. I also use my Blackstone burger press, it really makes for just the perfect thickness of burger.
Hey Todd! Thank you for your content. I purchased a 28” Pro Series 3 weeks ago and I am in love with it. It’s my new toy! It’s definitely one of my favorite purchases ever! These onion soup burgers bring me back to whey mom used to use the onion soup mix in her famous meatloaf! This brought back a trip down memory lane for me as well. Thank you brother and God bless! 🤙
Hey Todd. Haven't been down that road in a long time. My grandmother use to make those for my granddad and I. Gonna "give it a try" this weekend. Another great video. Thanks Todd
Hey Todd I am glad you are doing well. I had to move to a new place and they don't allow any kind of grilling equipment on the property. Do me a favor and put an extra steak or burger for me. I sure miss my Blackstone griddle. God bless.
We sprinkle lipton onion soup mix on diced red potatoes with some pats of butter added in a casserole dish and baked in the oven. It might work on the griddle too.
He sure is. When I started my UA-cam channel over 11 years ago, I didn't have a clue what UA-cam was. I signed up. I figured, "Whatever this is or leads to, I want to glorify my Lord with it." That's why my handle/address is UA-cam.com/PraiseHisAwesomeName. I appreciate you watching!
I love the lipton mix in burgers. I got a burger idea for you to try. My dad would make the pattys and wrap uncooked bacon around the side and cook on the grill. Somehow it seems the taste was even better than just putting bacon on a cooked burger
Thanks for another awesome video and the burger tips. My grandson squirts ketchup on his burgers like you did, we live in Pa so maybe it is a Pa thing......
Didn't see it in the comments, but we always make ours with Onion soup mix and Heinz 57 Sauce. Started making burgers this way in about 87 or 88 when we were in Florida.
Todd best video I've seen all day. That recipe is very close to The Whirly Burger from Route66. Only diffrence is they added dry mustard powder to the ground mince. And sealed each burger in 2 slices of white bread, then toasted on a perfect circle to resemble a flying saucer. The edges would be crimped shut and the breads ends would fall off during the toasting process. Great video. And Whirly Burger went out of business years ago. But Lipton Onion Soup mix was the main ingredient in it. 👍😉🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔.The Whirly Burger sealing toasting machine was a one off. It disappeared after they went out of business. Maybe a modern triangle sandwich press machine might do the job. I think they used Wonder Bread. 👍😉🍔🍔🍔
Use to like yellow mustard and ketchup when I was a kid. But that all left me. I do love brown mustard and the spicy brown mustard. We just had a bbq last night for the first time in three years of not having a grill. We bought one that was made in China. Its a weird brand name called QOMOPTOP that is the brand name. Its a decent little grill better then the one we had to. And those burgers you just made looked so good even with the ketchup and yellow mustard on it. Love that three cheese on the burger never tried that one before.
Our family recipe is a beef, pork and bean meatloaf with the onion soup mix and the extra ingredient is to mix in a jar of Heinz Chili Sauce. Onion soup mix in burgers tastes great.
Great video I'm a new subscriber I like the recipe may try it tomorrow, sorry you had to grow up in pennsylvania spent 6 years in western pennsylvania nothing good to say
Hi Gerald. I appreciate you watching & subscribing! Well, I had the desire to move in my my mid twenties, it was a great place to grow up. I was blessed with a great childhood. The Rockies are in my blood now, at least it seems. Again, thank you so much for watching & subscribing. God bless!
Lipton onion soup mix in burgers goes farther back than the '80s. My grandmother was making them in the late '60s and '70s. I never remember her making burgers without adding a package to the meat.
Todd you gotta try blending a little ghost pepper in your Burger with pepper jack cheese along with fries and a little sweet tea. My son-in-law took me to a place in Greenville, South Carolina I guess I must have been brave that day and I'm glad I did that thing was fantastic and I normally don't get anything with too much heat in it. Sometimes you have to give it a try
YOU'RE KILL'IN ME !!!! ... Now I gotta run to the store & get some Lipton Onion Soup Mix ...... and I hate crowds!!! ........ HAHAHAHA !!! Good stuff right there "Let's Give It A Try!!" Guy ..........
I rarely sub to a person very quickly, but a dude who speaks honor about both his moms is A-OKAY for sure.

Yes I remember those back in the 70s and 80s. We used to make chip dip add french onion soup mix almost like Lawson's chip dip add to sour cream.
My parents made it in the 80's and I make it for my kids now!
From PA. Totally understand. Love your show.
My grand mom use make Lipton onion burgers all the time in 80s loved it

My mother made Lipton onion soup burgers in the 1960s. Onion dip was also made with the soup mix.
Finally bought a blackstone!! Can't wait to try this on it!!
Congrats on your new griddle! Thank you for watching. Have a great weekend!
Been making Lipton onion Burgers for a long time I use a beaten Egg in the mix Love them
I haven’t had a Lipton onion soup burger in years. Guess I’ll rock out to some Def Leppard pyromania and griddle up some onion burgers this weekend.

Nice. Happy Memorial Day Weekend.
Same to you, Timothy!
After watching this I have to take my black stone griddle out and try this recipe! Thanks bro!
My mom who passed away 10 years ago did the same thing in the 90 and 2000s didn't even know it was a thing lol
Hey Todd I am glad you are doing well. I had to move to a new place and they don't allow any kind of grilling equipment on the property. Do me a favor and put an extra steak or burger for me. I sure miss my Blackstone griddle. God bless.
Manuel Dagan: even indoors? I think Blackstone has a nice (small) countertop unit that wouldn't destroy your home or break the rules.

Love the vid! Mde these about a month ago. Sans the elk. Love the Lipton burger
I have an older Blackstone, new ones are looking sharp, love the lid. I’m in the Central Rockies, yup and I grew up in Pittsburgh. Fun Video
I know what I am having for lunch today. My Mom also fixed them back in the day.
We sprinkle lipton onion soup mix on diced red potatoes with some pats of butter added in a casserole dish and baked in the oven. It might work on the griddle too.
That lipton mix is good on a roast ot any meat. Hidden gem!
It was on the box years ago and I've used it all my life.
I haven’t had one of those since ‘89! Will definitely be doing that on my Blackstone.
this recipe-has been around for years...its a great one!
I remember this recipe as well Todd! It makes quite the good burgers!
I use that stuff in my beef and noodles, along with some some cream of mushroom.
We use the mix also works great ... Good Morning from Georgia .

Hi, Jeff. I was raised in Erie County. Thanks for watching!
Going old school looks great
I am with you on the Ketchup with your hamburger thing.
Use to like yellow mustard and ketchup when I was a kid. But that all left me. I do love brown mustard and the spicy brown mustard. Lipton onion soup mix in burgers goes farther back than the '80s. My grandmother was making them in the late '60s and '70s. I never remember her making burgers without adding a package to the meat.
Indeed but I was born in 72 so I remember it from my 80s
Good stuff my friend. I always put Lipton in my burgers. Yummy. 😃🥂

Hi Todd! Heading out to season my brand new Blackstone Griddle!
