I did not expect the intensity of this scene--very well acted though, particularly on Alex Winter's behalf. I imagine this role might have been difficult for him after what he went through

Interestingly, Dr. Polidori wrote the short story "The Vampyre," and then Alex Winter ended up playing one in Lost Boys. ;D

Who else thought this was gonna get really gay and got really uncomfortable because Alex is sitting there crying and the other guy is very slowly taking off his jacket? 😳

It does, actually, but the scene is cut off. A rather shitty relationship for Alex's character

He’s American - British in real life though

    • @vavacadoz

He falters in some places: in his pronunciation of vowels and using a rhotic r here and there, but aside from that he does quite a good job, even involving intrusive r's when he says: "I've written-a play", "the creature-ron the woman", "he-yoffered'', where most Americans would separate the words very distinctly (and is where they get it wrong when portraying non-American people in film). I think the fact that he did have more knowledge on the accent due to growing up in England till the age of five, does show through. also with an Australian father, where those similar structures are in place. I imagine it probably took some work to be able to use it again, obviously growing up in England isn't going to do too much if the rest of your youth is spent in America, but he still understands the fundamentals of the accent. Where he falters it sounds more transatlantic, which is more so the combination of Upper-class English and American built for the sake of television, so it doesn't fail the film, in my opinion. Given this film is set in 1816, the English accent, particularly the posh English accent varied quite a lot to what is mostly known and spoken today. I give him props for doing it as well as he did. (I also agree that it is adorable. It's like watching Bill S. Preston Esq., back in time, as Polidori, and is quite excellent).
