- Although I've reacted to Nightwish before, I heard that the lead singer Tarja has changed :/ So the perfect song to get introduced to Floor Jansen is Ghost Love Score!

“Where did they find her!”
_Valhalla_
When soldiers die with their sword in hand they go to Valhalla. When Valhalla dies it goes to Floor.
Best comment possible.
No this queen Siren was found after we, the dutch, drained the land we claimed from the sea. Other Sirens that were recovered this way are Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen and Sharon den Andel. Archologists are in the process of revitalising more of these sirens as we speak.
a.k.a. Netherlands
Ha that's great! When she asked that I said "I think....maybe...Valhalla!" By Odin's beard she is amazing!
To be fair, that entire concert is amazing.
Truth!
And the video only catches half of the atmosphere
Yeah it's interesting that so many people post reaction videos to this song - I mean it is epic and shows incredible range. I'd probably go with something more digestible and shorter to introduce a new person to a band, like Everdream or Dark Chest of Wonder or Nemo or something like that.
I wish they had done the Siren in this set, it's my absolute favorite song by Nightwish.
the entire festival was awesome
Oh yeah, you got that right! Nightwish at Wacken 2013 just might be one of the most epic live performances ever.
Tarja & Floor are pretty good friends, and it's ok to like both of them.
@Marshall Snyder. Yep. Thanks for saying that!
It's also okay to like Anette, even though she didn't fit Nightwish quite as well. I first found Nightwish in the Anette era, and both of those albums are excellent.
Annette was problematical to me. As a Nightwish fan who started with Tarja, the comparisons were too great. I have respect for Annette, took some courage to Follow Tarja, and yes you are correct about the albums. I saw the DPP tour, I liked some of what I heard, especially Meadows of Heaven caught my ear. However the live performance left me thinking... meh. In retrospect Annette took a lot of heat that would have gone to Floor if she had followed Tarja, and Floor herself has indicated that she feels that the experience and growth she went through during that time allowed her to be ready when Nightwish called. My biggest thing about Annette is that I think getting pregnant at the start or after the start of a 16 month tour was a very poor decision, right up there with some of my own bad choices, but I've never made that kind of money.
@@marshallsnyder8423 Anette was great with content written during her time in the band, but not so great with the older material.
@@marshallsnyder8423 agreed. Although I honestly can't take any more than 20 minutes listening to Tarja at a time, it's still crystal clear that she is a very good singer.
Anette on the other hand... are there any good live vids of her killing it? I've yet to see one. Even the material that was written for her, like the final parts of PatP, she doesn't even attempt to sing live but Floors does it with ease.
"where the heck did they find here" the magical place where the best female metal singers come from, europe... and the hotspot of that all... The Netherlands my dear
RedLikeARose She's finnish
@@ayana2430 Floor Jansen is Dutch, she is from the Dutch School of Rock graduated 1999 as the first class to graduate from that school, back then she was in her band After Forever
she lives in Finland I think, with her husband, the drummer from Sabaton
@@ayana2430 Nightwish are Finnish, but Floor is Dutch.
@@wazzalord3 she lives in sweden
Volker Lietsch makes sense cus sabayon is swedish
They struck gold when Floor arrived- Everything they've done since she arrived is Great.
I don't expect anything less.
It's been 13 years that I love Nightwish, and I've never wished to go to one of their concerts before Floor ! She is THE gold nugget ❤
Been there- @@bitchette-it is glorious
Baba Yaga just do it. Seen them live twice with Floor and twice with Tarja. Always good.
Lol, when they make something bigger than Oceanborn, maybe I'll believe you. They are so stucked trying to make Once over and over again.
That last note we call a "Floorgasm". The singer, Floor, you mentioned that she was tall. Yes...she is 186cm tall. She is everything I aspire to be in a singer. She can sing ANYTHING...INCLUDING GROWLING!!! The most epic song of theirs with her is "Greatest Show on Earth". The other masterpiece is "Poet and the Pendulum", which originally was sung by their second singer, Annette...but Floor's version is more powerful. Her version is usually heard from Wembly 2016.
If you want to hear her growl, she growls during the chorus of "Yours is an Empty Hope".
Seriously, Floor's performance of "The Poet and The Pendulum" lays me flat. I love Anette - she was their singer when I found Nightwish. And "The Poet and The Pendulum", the lyrics and the story behind it, always touched me. But Floor singing it at Wembley was when it dissolved me into a blubbering mess.
She really can do anything. I'm so grateful the stars aligned for her to join Nightwish.
183cm
with the boots she's wearing, makes her 195 cm
Só que não!
*That last note we call a "Floorgasm".*
It's good, but it loses its effectiveness if you've already heard Bruce Dickinson sing Hallowed be Thy Name.
Tarja is great, but Ghost Love Score belongs to Floor. The ending is Floor's idea, and it makes it so much more passionate. I adore it.
I agree with that. I *loved* Tarja, still do - but Floor took this piece to a whole new level!!
Jannis Papadopoulos made a cover quite similar to Floor's
1000000% true
Tarja is an amazing singer.
Floor is an entire set of amazing singers in the same package.
This score only shows that. To be true, any Nightwish song is better with Floor.
"The chills are coming back again!" Fans: Just wait...
This song is how I "re-discovered" Nightwish. I didn't realize just how good I am at ignoring things/events/people until that thing about Tarja getting kicked out. I hated Nightwish and I hated Anette with a passion. I "forgot" about Nightwish until one of my fave vocal coaches reacted to this performance last year and now I'm all about Nightwish and Floor.
Now that I think about it, that was really immature of me. You know, hating Anette for no real reason. But sue me, I was literally a child that time, maybe 12 or 13? Now that I've listened to the music they made during her time, I find them really enjoyable, especially Imaginaerum...
Also, are people really reacting negatively when anybody comments on Floor's looks? She's so damn beautiful. She's sexy. She's hot. And I like how she always manages to manipulate the crowd. But just because I can see that, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate her talent. Ya people are crazy.
Believe it not she was still filling in during this performance. She was hired on to the band permanently later.
No way. She's insane I can't imagine them letting her go
@@GiddyKitty Tuomas (keyboard player and band leader) has said Floor will be the last singer for Nightwish. Mostly because they don't want anymore 'new singer' drama, but also because who the heck could replace Floor?
@TheBlackiwid Some of the songs were more designed for Anette's vocal style tho, like you can hear Floor struggling to adapt her breathing to the speed of the delivery Storytime's lyrics in this very concert. But Floor has that power to her voice that fills more space in the soundmix that neither of the previous singers had and she actually improved the overall quality of several songs.
Actually, they had already hired her but didn't announce publicly until the very end of this concert. This event was the big announcement.
@@FutileGrief Don't know if they had already decided or not at this point, and likely had, but it was still 2 months after this that she was hired on.
Floor Jansen is the queen.
Definitely.
The way she expresses herself and moves on stage is just... intoxicating
Nope...Tarja Turunel, the best.
Heretic! Tarja is amazing 😀
I'm surprised more aren't talking about Floor's bands After Forever and her project ReVamp!
Attending a nightwish concert is now my night wish before going to sleep.
HAHAHAH good one xD
I have heard this live. Twice. If you get the chance, do NOT let it go!
Floor is not only hitting the tone, but sustained it with a power volume I never experienced.
And her stage performance, beauty, charisma and talent for storytelling are out of this world.
NIGHTWISH
The Poet And the Pendulum live at Wembley 2016
Epic masterpiece!
Very much so. But read up on the lyrics, it deals with some pretty serious subject matter.
That final part of the poet and the pendulum with Floor singing is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard
In Hong Kong is perfect
This is the VERY best version of this Nightwish song. Good pick for your first time! She's incredible. Glad you loved it. You're gonna be a metal head in no time.
They got her off Amazon..... the 7 foot warrior woman place not the .com. More Nightwish 🤟
Now I want her to react to Epica Santa Terra ft. Floor. Two Dutch singers on the same stage !
Xena and Gabrielle. ;-)
@@autohmae Agreed. Absolutely epic! Of course, it helps even more that there's a live choir and orchestra. It's truly up there with the best of what symphonic metal is all about!!!
Floor is our metal Goddess. You really need to explore more of the newer stuff more. More epics, this is the lesser of the big 3. This song, Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2015 and Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere. However, with that said even shorter songs are epic with Floor.
Totally agree.
Gotta check out The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley, and the Greatest Show on Earth live from Tampere.
I think both of them will absolutely blow you away.
Keep up the great reactions. Love your energy and your enthusiasm!
My top 3 songs:
3- Poet And The Pendulum
2- Ghost Love Score
2- The Greatest Show On Earth
So, Tarja is not Goddess?
Congratulations..! You've got your first Floorgasm. Yes Floor is outstanding. You get many suggestions for another epic song of Nightwish so I want to direct your attention to her first band After Forever and the song Sins of Idealism. Really good one too..
"So soothing yet so powerful"
I've just recently been Nightwish'ed and this sums it up so spot on. Exactly what I feel too!
And another one has been Floorgasmed!!
Welcome to the Club!
I'll be honest I wasn't a nightwish fan before. I tried to get into them a few time. But when the brought on Floor I can't seem to get enough. She is utterly amazing.
Floor is pretty famous in the metal scene as she has wonderfull bands named After Forever and ReVamp. Her voice is versatile, she can sing EVERYTHING she can even do the screaming please xD she's perfect !
Love your enthusiasm! A very honest reaction followed by a very honest review. Keep up the good work.
What you experienced hearing this song and Floor Jansen's voice for the first time is known as a 'Floor-gasm'. We've all been there.
Floor Jansen's voice and vocal range are absolutely AMAZING.
Not only was Floor Jansen Classically trained, but she's been a voice teacher/vocal coach herself in the past.
Nightwish - The Greatest Show On Earth, 20+ minutes of pure excitement
YES! And you could use this video, it's not the official video, but it should be. Great editing to compliment the song's lyrics. ua-cam.com/video/uzPT9dGgeTs/v-deo.html
@@Andy_from_de Absolutely not! That's a horrible suggestion. For a first experience the performance at Tampere is a must. Once that has been experienced, then perhaps that video you linked. Even then, the live performance at Tampere needs to be viewed a few times to fully soak it all in.
Your link is for the diehard fans that already know the song inside and out.
I agree, you have to try "the greatest show on Earth" live version
OK - So I'm a MASSIVE Nightwish fan, but, to me, Greatest Show On Earth is the best song ever written.
That is such an amazing performance.
CHILLS AND GOOSEBOMPS
that's what Nightwish and Floor always do ❤
The difference between Tarja and Floor are as follows:
Tarja is an amazing opera singer and, back then, she set the bar for Symphonic Metal. However, she saw herself as a diva and gave attitude to the band and the rest is history.
Floor is the GODDESS of metal, and yet, she is extremely humble, she has a breath taking voice that is only comparable to a mermaid because you get captivated when she sings, she is quite versatile when it comes to vocals, and I can go on and on...
In an interview, Floor said that she started singing Symphonic Metal because of Tarja and Nightwish. In my humble opinion, Floor surpassed Tarjas standard and then set bar even higher for generations to come. I might sound like a fanboy, but let’s give credit where credit is do and acknowledge the job Floor has done with Nigthwish because she is the right fit for this amazing band and no one, I mean NO ONE comes close to her talent! Agree?
In several other interviews she mentions The Gathering (with Anneke van Giersbergen) and Skunk Anansie as inspirations...
You might really enjoy this : Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show
That duet is amazing! I've been listening to it daily.
There's not a lot of music that would make me cry just from its sheer beauty, but this song sure did when I heard Floor sing it live.
NIGHTWISH - THE POET AND THE PENDULUM LIVE AT WEMBLEY 2016
I saw that concert live, was absolutely worth every penny
That's Symphonic Metal for you!
Bands like Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Delain, Sirenia, Xandria.. Gosh there are so many.
If I could recommend anything from Nightwish, I would follow the trend and go with "The Poet and the Pendulum"
I respect the heck out of what they do since Floor took the mic.
And here I am metalhead who's started to appreciate some of the kpop artists. Nightwish is a great band with a rich history and amazing discography to back their reputation.
Floor Jansen is a musical Valkyrie -- and she is 6'1" tall.
By the way, try some heavy stuff: Romanticide, Yours Is An Empty Hope, and Song of Myself.
You've only just begun, and have barely scratched the surface of Floor Jansen. :)
EDIT: You need -- NEED -- to listen to Ever Dream! Seriously -- it's like a mini-Ghost Love Score, and the combination of vocals from Floor and Jukka, the drummer, will give you a gut punch to the feels you've never felt before. I guarantee it!
So you like Floor's vocals. She is amazing. I am going to give you some info to help you navigate Nightwish songs, particularly the female vocalists.
Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen. (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor).
I hope this helps. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. I discovered them about 4 years ago. I saw them in concert last March in the US. They are unbelievable live. Their music has gotten me through some tough times. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol I suggest "Song of Myself" live at Wacken 2013. Thank you!
For a band like this, hearing that the lead singer is pop influenced is a massive red flag for me. As far as I'm concerned, Floor and Tarja are the TRUE masters of this genre.
@@Bondubras You are right Michael.......
@@fdsannieI'm sorry that I have to correct my teacher, Ann you saw them last year in march. ;-)
@@markschattefor6997 I am glad you corrected me..... What would I do without you? :-)
@@fdsannie I think you would have as much fun as is possible , please don't see me as a fun blocker! Btw have you been able to have a look at it in the sunlight?
Tarja "hey did you hear me at the end of ghost love score?" Floor "hold my beer"
Yeap! Floor is my favorite of the three singer's. I can't get enough of Nightwish. Love your reaction
This never gets old. Juuka grooving on his TAMA double-base set, Emppu driving the rhythm in his signature ESP, Marco giving us epic base lines in his Warwick Buzzard, Tuomas sharing his genius on his KORGs and Floor leading the crowd like a modern-day 6-foot 1-inch Valkyrie and seducing like a siren. They are all at the top of the talent tree. Each one alone could lead a band into greatness let alone all five of them. One of the best live performances of all time. Not only musically but the staging and production is unmatched.
Nightwish - Floor Jansen - Ghost Love Score - almost a religious experience - Floor's voice is Angelic...
I loved your reaction. I think most of us had the same reaction the first time we heard Floor.
As others have suggested, try The Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley and The Greatest Show on Earth from Tampere, but also try Everdream and She' My Sin from the same Wacken 2013 show. There was just something magical going on that night that everything came together perfectly. The whole damn concert was unbelievable.
I thought I had to die and come back to life to watch you reacting to this song. Glad to see you love Nightwish as much as I do.
Where they found her?
She was on weddings when they asked her to come from Holland to USA and learn Set list in 48 hours.
Don't forget the time her initial band After Forever toured with them., ah. it was a joke, I'm so gullible at times sorry Ilkka
"Just when I thought she couldn't get any better..." FLOORGASM! lol
You must try now: Nightwish - The poet and the pendulum | LIVE AT WEBMLEY 2016
I SWEAR - YOU GONNA CRY! Who's agree?
"Where the hell did they find her?" That was funny! She saved them. She's been doing this almost as long as you've been alive. Check out After Forever and Revamp.
GiddyKitty "The chills are coming back again"
Nightwish fans "Wait for it...wait for it..."
From a singing standpoint, Floor is WAY more versatile than Tarja. Tarja will always beat anyone in the operatic singing department, but in any other department basically, Floor is UNBEATABLE. The perfect singer!
We missed your Nightwish reactions... I recommend Ever Dream from the same Wacken 2013 concert and Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley Arena for you to try next.
I was just going to recommend that one too. It's not at epic in scope as this song, but it packs a lot more punch.
The power of Nightwish: An audience of 82,000 people are basically silent for a whole minute.
82000 people at a Metal festival. Can't imagine any band being able to do that - but they did.
@@kenthompson6887 Pantera and Metallica pulled in an Audience of 3 million people.
They needed 10,000 police and military just to crowd control.
Moscow '91.
@@kevinlee6003 those numbers are insane and totally not controllable with 10000 people. If hell would have broken out there is no chance to stop those masses of people even with guns it would be a difficult task.
@@Ri_Shin_Marco Oh NO! Metal heads are the most peaceful and friendly people on this planet. Look at the small village of Wacken with the biggest metal festival of europe, maybe earth. 2.000 inhabitants and 85.000 visitos for 3-4 days. There is no violence, no crime during the festival. Young and old, locals and visitors celebrate together. Metal should rule to make this world better and united.
@@jurgenwittmann2905 - Yes, I agree to that. I've been working in Public Transport for 40+ years, sometimes shipping people to and from Concert venues in Dublin, Ireland. Some years back we had a Metal band playing at The Point/3 Arena (could have been Metallica, don't remember) and the crowd was the nicest and most well-mannered people you ever could imagine. They are used to be in big crowds and they understand that for everything to work smoothly they have to look beyond themselves and look after the needs of others. If you ask them to move over to the side - for instance to get a better flow of a queue in or out of the venue - they will do that without any argument or moaning. No hazzle at all. Cheers / B.
This song is very beautiful.

If you're really interested in Jansen, she sings in another band called "Northward", and I also recommend another Nightwish song: 10th man down.
Floor was also the singer for a band called 'After Forever', which was a great band.
Nice Reaction! Besides her superior voice, Floor has way more stage presence then Tarja could ever dream of having.
Floor has more stage presence than most vocalists.
Yes, I would be hard pressed to name one that is better!

I disagree. Their presence is very different for sure and that's fine. It's just different take on stage presence.

Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show
I love that you said that listening to Nightwish is an experience, you have hit the nail on the head. Personally i think it has to do with the fact that Toumas the songwriter writes so much from his own emotions and experiences, not just words that sound good or will sell records, and his own emotions show through and "bleed" into us listeners. But hey, that's just my thoughts, i could be wrong =D
IF you want epicness from Nightwish - do a "The Greatest Show on Earth".... it will blow you away. :) Belive me. I m still reeling an it has been 6 months for me.

to answer your question^^
Her name is Floor Jansen, she is from the Netherlands, but now lives in Finland. She was the lead vocalist for the Dutch band After Forever until 2009. She has been frineds with the band since around 2004, and is real good friends with former Nightwish vocalist Tarja. Floor took over in 2012 in the missle of their USA tour when Nightwish fired former singer Annette(vocalist after Tarja left), she took over and did her first show with 48 hours notice. She is the best thing that has ever happen to Nightwish, and Nightwish is the best thing to happen to her.
Floor Jansen is their 3rd singer after Annette Olzon and Tarja Turunen . May I suggest also from Nightwish " Ghost River " live or " The Greatest Show on Earth " . Plus I have mentioned Devin Townsend in past replies and I still believe you would be just as amazed with him as you are with Nightwish. His latest video is " Spirits Will Collide " and I also suggest " Stormbending " . Thanks for the great reaction vids and stay open to new and wonderful things , because you are wonderful.
Floor need to have swallowed a hurricane to have all this breath...
And also an entire party of another singers, to have so many voices. She can sing everything f*cking thing...
Moreeee Nightwish... And more of Flooorrrr💖
Floor is doing exactly what she was put on this earth to do..... she was still new to the band here... was this her first huge festival crowd with Nightwish??? with her vocals, power and stage presence, she is the female version of Bruce Dickinson, providing Bruce had a box to stand on
HAHAAHHA Bruce on a box cracked me up 😂
I swear you M-U-S-T to see The Greatest Show On Earth!!! LIVE!!! I cried, I cried when I heard it live!
Floor joined the band in Oct 2012 right in the middle of the 2012 US tour, the same day they fired their singer Anette Olson. Tuomas called her from the road between Salt Lake City and Seattle and uttered those most famous words"Learn the set list in 48 hours" and the rest is history. Floor is a 6'1" Dutch singer who started singing in metal bands at aage 16 with After Forever, until their split in 2009, then she formed her own band ReVamp, but Floor has done guest vocals on multiple Band's albums like Everygrey, Ayreon, Star One, Epica, and just recently appeared on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, in Holland Floor was an unknow until her appearance on this show, check out her duet of "Phantom of the Opera" with Henk Poort, her childhood idol and the original European Phantom.
Now it's time for The Poet And The Pedulum live at Webley from Nightwish. Very emotional song. Next The Greatest Show On Earth live from Tampere.
As always... your enthusiasm blows me away!! ❤️ It's always wonderful to share ALL of the things we love about one another... You nailed the description of your "girl crush" perfect! 😊 Well said!! And your outfit for this one was quaint and eclectic, and absolutely fantastic!!

Amazing reaction.......I loved your reaction and the way you calmed down when you heard Floor.
i became a fan of Floor with After Forever "Prison of Desire" album
I agree. Prison of Desire is a great album, and After Forever was a great band.
Floor is my girl crush. She's not just the best "female" singer, she's one of the best singers period!! :) She can do everything Tarja can and more. It's ok to like both. There was a third singer in between them who you might really love, named Anette Olzon.
Why not a react for the complete Wacken 2013 concert?
it needs too much snacks and tissue paper
Floor has been known to them years before she joined them. I've seen the bassist Marco and her having a guest appearance together as early as in 2009? Both on vocals… Yeah... Marco has a very good voice too.
Not sure if this made then aware of her qualities, but she joined in 2012 under their tour in the US. There had been some issues With Anette for a while and some inner tensions in the Group. So when she got some troubles with her throat, they deicided to kick her.
Jansen on her behalf had met the wall and was burnt out, when Marco called to ask if she could step in, which she did. So while they were waiting for her, they got 2 females from the supporting act to step in, and gave Floor a list of songs she had to learn in 48 hours. All of this were documented by a finnish film-team following them on the tour. I believe the docu is called "Please learn this setlist in 48 hours". Worth a look…
Also: Anette was removed from the Movie.
Yes Floor and Marco sang together with Delain in 2009. It was a performance in a church in The Netherlands
Yes, Floor is 6'1" without heels. I'm about 5'11.5" without shoes.
Someone below mentioned reacting to the entire Wacken concert. It hooked me on the band. Even if you don't do a video for it, it's the perfect intro to the band overall. i'm glad you have gotten to see this song, It's epic. It's beautiful. And the rise to the end can bring out tears of joy and amazement. Glad to now have you as a fan of the Floor era :) Btw, I saw her first show with the band...two days after I saw Annette's last. Many of us in the audience were like "Whaaa?" But we were happy and amazed! Also, you have amazing eyes! :)
