It's the natural follow on to 'Hi Ren' especially as she just looked up and saw he suffered from undiagnosed Lyme Disease [who noted the Easter Egg on the back of the wheelchair?] and the resulting medical mistreatment and iatrogenic harm. The Sick Boi interaction lays that out.
There are no alters. It is and always was Ren. All of him.
Another way to look at it is these two aspects of Ren are coming to a resolution makes him more himself again. Which is *sorta* like a third character in terms of the songs narrative structure.

Pretty sure, from what I saw in this reaction, that you're gonna love it here. This guy's been a brilliant songwriter/musician/storyteller for a long time now - ridiculously prolific with astoundingly consistently high-calibre output, for an independent artist with no funding, and would have been even more prolific (in terms of volume of content available) had he not been virtually bedbound with Lyme disease for 7+ years (& still having to be very careful to keep his symptoms manageable, even now).

I highly recommend you check out Ren's latest track "troubles" which he chronicles his 8 yr chronic health battle. The official music video is great but the acoustic version is absolutely fire. Yep, whatever genre he wants to employ at the moment, even swapping genres multiple times in a song.
So, the message to take from this interaction within this song is that rejection leads nowhere. Hope isn't rejecting the darkness, it is accepting it as it is standing against anyway. We can't rid ourselves of darkness we can only dance with it.

This really is the tip of the iceberg as far as Ren's talent you have one hell of a ride in front of you if you want to see more of him.
Ren is self taught as far as the instruments he plays, he is so talented it's as if music flows through and out of his body.
He was signed to Sony as a teenager but unfortunately got very sick before they could complete his first album so they parted ways. He has Lyme disease and went undiagnosed for a very long time which in turn caused irreparable damage his body and brain. He is currently in Canada receiving treatment in the hope to improve his quality of life. He has an incredible back catalogue of music and you never know what you're going to get with him. A lot of his videos are filmed live and in one take, they've even won two awards. He also played in a busking band called The Big Push and they have some incredible covers that will make your head spin. Ren really can do it all he's a once in a lifetime artist who deserves all the recognition and success. UA-cam reactors have played a big part in getting him the exposure he has today, he got a number 1 album in the uk last year which is incredible for an independent artist.

I have watched dozens of reactions to this, as well as the video itself probabyl close to a hundred more, and the arrival of "Hope" always brings tears to my eyes.
Ren's album, "Sick Boi" hit #1 on the U.K. charts and landed on the Billboard Top 200 Albums even though he has no record label and wasn't able to do any promotion besides social media because he was in Canada getting daily I.V. treatments (among other treatments) for months before the release. He's just THAT good.
Ren, at times, thought his disease was going to kill him, so he cherishes the life that he has now and uses his success to uplift others and point out problems in society (even if he doesn't know the solutions). He's not only talented beyond anyone I can think of (and I've seen a lot of talent), but he genuinely seems like a nice guy.
I try to mention to all reactors new to Ren, do NOT react to "Jenny's Tale", "Screech's Tale" or "Violet's Tale" as separate reactions. Although they are available as separate videos on his channel, they're a trilogy that should be watched in the correct order in one reaction. Happily, he's provided them put together end-to-end, in full, as a single video titled "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" (it includes "Violet's Tale even though it's not in the title). This trilogy is what's been dubbed Ren's own genre - "bardcore" - for his storytelling style. He's not just a singer/songwriter, but a well-rounded performer with great acting chops as well.
You will notice that Ren and his usual video partner, cinematographer/videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey, are huge fans of live, continuous-shot videos. Sam was behind "Hi Ren", "The Tale of Jenny & Screech", "Money Game 1 & 3", and many more. You'll notice Ren is actually wearing a microphone and his guitar is plugged into a wireless transmitter strapped to his back in all of these videos and more.
You should see everything that Ren has put out.
From his busking sessions to his rap album and songs to his collabs with Chinchilla , Sam Tompkins and his band "The Big Push".

Ren was misdiagnosed for years with stuff he didn't even have was put on meds that caused him to have psychosis he became bedridden for up 23 hours a day it would take years before he would get right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he also has M cast he can only eats like few things because his body has allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he also has ADHD too if you want to know more about Ren and all he has told his entire story in 8 chapters there on his other channel @RenMakeStuff u should watch them
Most of "us" really enjoy watching someone experience Ren for the first time. You did a wonderful job! Your initial looks of confusion quickly changed to looks of appreciation and understanding (combined with amazement and appreciation). You're good! You said, "That alter is boiling my blood!" That's one of the best comments I have heard after at LEAST 100 reactions! I would HIGHLY recommend that you listen to this again by yourself... no reaction... just you and Ren. This is SO deep that it takes multiple listens to truly start to grasp all the obvious (and not so obvious) meanings. THEN come back and read through some of the comments. Then listen again a few times. This is, in my opinion, one of the deepest and most profound musical masterpieces I have ever heard. Great reaction young lady! (p.s. Yes, he has suffered with multiple issues for years. That he can create and perform such insanely good music is incredible!)

Love seeing someone’s introduction to Ren through Hi Ren. Definitely a journey you will enjoy.
There were no alters. It was all Ren battling hi subconscious. You just missed when he said it because you pause at the moment he stated it in the song. For what it’s worth you might try rewinding the song 5 seconds or so when you stop so you don’t miss parts like that, also helps with keep the flow of the song. IMHO 🙏

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song.
Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates.
As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important.
It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it.
*Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison.
You are *stronger* than that voice.
You are stronger than you can *possibly* know…
until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.
Ren is therapy for so many from one song he helps so many people open up in ways therapists struggle to do in person.
First time i watched Hi Ren i had a panic attack but thought i needed to watch it again so i watched someone reacting to it
that was the best thing i could do i have watched many times since. One thing i think about this song is it needs to be seen
by every one even in schools after a certain age, because how many children kill themselves because of the negativity
towards them from nasty comments and bullying to them believing what is said. I went through hell, bullied all through
school to the point i attempted suicide twice, and to many issues in my life since then I am a recovering alcoholic 11 years
clean I suffer PTSD and other health issues so the majority of bad days over good is high, if this bullying had been dealt
with i may have had a reasonable life not the existence i have to deal with now

Ren isn't just a songwriter but rather a Performance Art Master who blends music and character acting from all the styles over the last 500 years and makes it modern and relatable to all generations even if normally you may not be a fan of whatever genre he is currently performing. I have a similar type of inner critic that sets the bar high and requests perfection in so much of my life. This masterpiece captures that exhaustive type of back and forth, always judging yourself and trying to meet expectations and when I fail to meet them I punish myself in subtle ways which makes it more difficult for me to meet those goals in the future. It is something I have had all of my life and it drove me for the most part and made me the best I could be in whatever I was doing. Then I had an event happen that gave me PTSD and overwhelming anxiety and depression and I couldn't meet those standards anymore but the critic did not go away. I have started to learn to quiet the critical side, although not very often and I am still not great at it but knowing I can control it somewhat has been helpful.
The Tale of Jenny & Screech (& Violet) all three at the same time!! Ultimate story telling!

It's just two alters (or aspects of himself), but they develop. Ren's personal demon is the same that speaks to all ears across time and in the end Ren himself becomes self-assured, determined and free from the fear.

I would suggest " Chalk Outlines " must be LIVE version with Chinchilla ( and she is another stunning performer in her own right ) . His latest video " Troubles " is great way to learn about his health issues as well. And Back on 74 , also fairly new is about as good as a performance could ever be! A really great first reaction to Ren, who can initally be quite much for the uninitiated. You were very thoughtful and respectful. After goosebumps and that reaction and in learning Ren's backstory... Definitely worth sitting down for a nine plus minute performance without equal, I would guess you'd agree? You have a huge volume of Ren's music to explore and it's all so unique and vast in scope. Hi Ren was an introduction for a lot of us but I'm sure a lot of Ren's music can blow your mind in other ways, but this one tends to hit deeper for being first. Thank you for your well-rounded reaction, one of the best I've seen, even if turned in late. Lol

I always saw this as two sides arguing, the later parts are escalations of the two. I also feel that the whole thing addresses the human experience, not a mental illness. Don't we all, to some extent, have a naysayer in us? Loved your reaction, glad you finally gave in and did it! Lucky for you, most of Ren's songs are under 5 minutes. Subbed for MORE REN, please!
