He is not a showboater but technically performs at a superior level in every song, playing what the song requires for us all. :)

The backing tracks are recorded with the London Philarmonic full orchestra and choir.

Best method for reacting to the new Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself:
Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list:
- Ghost Love Score (Wacken) 10 minutes
- The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes >>> Doing some research on the background story for this song is very important to be able to appreciate the meaning of the lyrics.
- Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes
1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great.
2- Then the Wembley 2015 ones that are not part of the Wacken show.
3- Then the remaining songs from Tampere 2015 that were not in the previous 2 shows mentioned.
4- Then the older songs from Buenos Aires 2018 that were not in the previous 3 shows mentioned.
5- To see what they can do with a cover and if you like Marco's singing, watch their interpretation of Pink Floyd's High Hopes.
6- Then you can explore Floor's versatility with her band ReVamp's live performances of the songs Disdain at Graspop and Wild Card at Bloodstock.
7- And finally go in the deep end of the Floor talent pool by reacting to her performances on Beste Zangers in the order the episodes aired.
For the first 4 steps, you can alternate between shows, but I would recommend to still only take songs that are not performed in the previous shows mentioned, as they are ordered in audio quality from best to worst.
From watching a lot of reactions, in my opinion this is the most efficient order to discover the rabbit hole that is Nightwish and Floor Jansen.

@@SongsandThongs hey you just did a reaction to Nightwish :Wish I had An Angel and for some strange reason you chose to do a comparison with the 1st singer,to be blunt that was a really stupid idea ! and one would have to ask why ? especially for only your 2nd NW song ? makes no sense what so ever! maybe your not aware that bands may have issues with singer loyalty etc. ??? well NW has that issue in spades ! many fans love Tarja and only Tarja and actually hate the band for firing her,most fans love Floor and how she has elevated NW in fans & popularity, when you do a comparison you only cause that rift to WIDEN ! and it is not appreciated in the MASSIVE NW fan base, & why that song any way ? that would have to be one of the least requested in comments or do you just not care about the comments and recommendations ? it would be best for you to just DELETE that reaction ! and do one more worthwhile.
She literally has everything in terms of singing ability, name a singing style and she has sang it at some point in her career - its a little nuts.
The only thing left I’m waiting for is Floor Yodeling!

After her singing in De Beste Zangers in 2019 ( a populair Dutch musicprogam ) she finaly gets noticed in her own land 😍 !

The funny part here: Phantom of the Opera was off their album Century Child, which was 2002. This song, Ghost Love Score, was off of "Once", which was in 2004, IIRC. That was Tarja's last studio album with the band, so Ghost Love Score is actually a Tarja song. Floor took it and made it her own.
Annette came in for 2 albums: Dark Passion Play (which has The Poet and the Pendulum, Bye Bye Beautiful, and The Islander), and Imaginaerum, which was her last album. Floor came into the band mid-tour, and had to learn the entire setlist within 48 hours. In fact, there's a documentary about this that Nightwish produced, called "Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours". It covers that journey from that tour all the way up to this actual show.
As for Jukka, he left, but didn't leave. He quit touring as an actual member of the band, due to severe insomnia. His drum tech (who was also the drummer for Wintersun), took over, and that was at Jukka's request, as he knew that Kai was the only person that could fill that role. Jukka now manages the business side of Nightwish.
Tarja will always be my only love but Floor just updated Nightwish to another level

I think both are great. Overall I think Floor has the edge but Tarja has songs that suit her better too (like Nemo).
Emppu is one of the most tasteful and unsung guitarists out there. Over time he has pulled back on overt flashiness and focused on providing the subtle and magnificent elements that make Nightwish... well... Nightwish. The guy carries the load of both rhythm as well as those flourishes that cut through and provide the "lead" touches he is known for. And I'm right with you on Jukka on drums. One of my all-time favorites.
You have just been introduced to our Valkyrie queen FLOOR JANSEN. She is from The Netherlands (now living in Sweden with her family, Hannes Von Dahl, drummer from Sabaton, and their daughter Freja) She has a range out of this world and can more or less sing anything she wants to.
Sadly Jukka is no longer with the band. Well he is still with the band but not as a drummer. More at the side. He sufferes from insomnia and has a bad back so he had to step down after this tour when they were making a new album. He asked his good friend Kai Hahto to fill in because he always hoped that he would come back at some point. But he coulden't so Kai became a full time member. He is also an amazing drummer.

Have listened to this over 100 times in the last few days. Keeps getting better every time, and now getting goosebumps from it.
Well you remember the band but you just experienced the 6' 1" Valkyrie Goddess of Metal, a/k/a the Dutch Siren Floor Jansen!!! This Wacken concert was one of the best LIVE performances by the band ever and that says a lot. Jukka has retired due to health reasons but is now the manager of the group. He choose Kai from Wintersun to replace (he is a beast you won't believe) and they now have Troy a Folk Metal specialist who plays 6 or 7 instruments (including bagpipes). Floor can sing anything and if you check out her solo stuff from Beste Zangers 2019, a Dutch TV show where weekly she sang different genres in different languages, each a stunning emotional roller-coaster. Welcome back to the NW ranks and I am sure the army will be here soon with all kinds of recommendations. Floor has brought back so many of the old Tarja fans and millions of new ones to the band, Tuomas says she is the last singer for this band there will be no more Nightwish without Floor.

"The Poet and The Pendulum" from Wembley has some nice dual vocals as well.
Poet and the pendulum is the one you want to make. Take time to read history of the song and have the video with Lyrics (very important). I cry everytime (didn't cry for like last 30 years and Nightwish succeded)
Try Ever Dream from Wacken... bassist Marco goes all the way with Floor on that one. There is nothing sweeter in reaction world than old nightwish fans finding out what Floor can do at the front of this band... she can do anything. seriously anything. Death metal growls? Yep. Phantom of the opera? yep. everything in between as well. You guys have got a LOT of catching up to do, 2 studio albums and a few concerts. More!

It's always great to watch other Nightwish fans of the old days discover Floor! 😊 While I've admired Floor since her After Forever days, I still got overwhelmed when I first heard/saw her in Nightwish for the first time. In my case, it was the 2012 Buenos Aires performance of this song. It's a performance that I find interesting for several reasons. First, Floor had been filling in for Anette for just a few weeks when it was recorded, yet delivered a superb performance of a song that wasn't written for her. The ending is something she added herself shortly after she stepped in as a temporary replacement. Second, the Argentinian crowd went nuts, but they seem to do that on a regular basis over there. 😁 And finally, the crowd was chanting Floor's name at the end of the performance. I can only imagine how tremendous that must have felt to Floor, who had recently battled a burn-out that almost ended her musical career!
So, I assume that we can expect more Nightwish in this channel from now on? 😀 [Edit: Oh, and it was nice to hear some comments regarding Emppu's pinch harmonics! I've watched plenty of reactions/analyses to "Ghost Love Score" and this is the first I've seen where this has been mentioned at all!]

@@SongsandThongs btw Floor was well known in Europe with her previous bands : AfterForever & ReVamp, after Tarja left, Floor was asked to replace her but was unable to say yes,so then came Anette who had a more pop style of vocals she did 2 albums,so finally in 2012 NW asked Floor to step in mid tour,she had 48hours to learn the setlist, by the time of the Wacken 2013 she perfected her interpretations of the songs and cemented her permanence in the band.
@@nicod1361 They didn't ask Floor to join after Tarja (although they'd have liked to), as they already knew she was too busy, so they auditioned for an alternative instead. in 2012, when that reached a point where it wasn't working out with Anette, they unanimously agreed that there was only one person capable of taking over the role mid-tour and on short notice (48 hours), so on 29th September they called Floor (who was at her sister Irene's wedding in The Netherlands at the time)from Salt Lake City and put it to her. Within hours, she was on a plane, met up with them late on the 30th at Salt Lake City and first sung with them the following day in Seattle on 1st October 2012 after a single run through the setlist with them. At that time, the setlist didn't include "Ghost Love Score". Floor remembered having liked the song from when she'd heard it when opening for them on four dates of a previous tour eight years earlier, so by 10th October, she had re-written the ending to better suit her vocals, to such effect that she was able to persuade them to include the new version in the setlist for Austin TX, a change which became permanent.
You should react to "Floor Jansen en Henk Poort Phantom of the Opera", Henk Poort is one of the big reasons Floor even became a singer and you can tell how smitten and in awe she is finally being able to sing with her hero. This happened like 2 years ago.

Seriously, nice reaction, and as a retired drummer, I really enjoyed your explanation of Emppu's guitar work at the end of the song.
When they made the change to Anette, she’s a perfectly good vocalist but... it just didn’t feel like Nightwish anymore, but after Anette, they found Floor, and they could not have POSSIBLY found a better singer, she fits perfectly and has elevated nightwish to the next level, they’re better now than they’ve ever been thanks to her world class vocals

Nightwish with Floor is the Olymp. She is incredible, has a classical training, did Rock Academy and much more. Please react to more. All songs from Wacken 13 are good. And Dutch contest "Beste Zangers 2019" she attended and won is a must. Her "Shallow" version leaves you speachless. Greets from Germany.
those goosebumps are called Floorgasms lol Everyone smiles when Floor sings.
"Where has this voice been all my life" - well, "After Forever" from 1997-2009, then with "ReVamp" (2009-2016) and with "Ayreon" (and "Star One") on several records/lives since 2000 - with Nightwish since october 2012. Remember that on this Wacken performance she was still new to the band and the audience, who eventually bought the tickets basically to see Nightwish with Anette Olzon. Floor replaced her in the middle of the tour and really didn't have a lot of time to learn and adapt the songs. This Wacken gig was a true turn point - not only she completely knocked down and convinced even the hard core fans, but also you can feel the motivation of the band growing from song to song with this exceptional performance. And all this under pressure - new to the band, not yet alot of experience/rehearsals with the band, an audience being here for another singer, AND the pressure of a live DVD production under all this circumstances! Checkout the documentary "Please learn the Setlist in 48 hours" which tells the story from the Denver debacle to the beginnings with Floor ;)

Jukka Nevalainen, the drummer you see there, stepped down as drummer due to health reasons. BUT, he's still a member and active now in the management side of things (and feeling much much better). Kai Hahto replaced him and is doing an excellent job. It's all good.

Just so you know, Jukka, the drummer, is still involved with the band -- on the business side. However, the reason he left is that he suffered from a three-year running battle with insomnia, a lot of the time only getting two or three hours of sleep a night.
On the flip side, before COVID, around a year ago, he went to a few shows in Europe, and played Last Ride of the Day on the kit. I'm hoping he comes back, because he is my all-time favorite drummer!

Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

I think Tuomas is every bit the composer as someone like Hans Zimmer. This Concert was in front of 82k+ people in Wacken. It was a blast. We call the goosebumps and chills " Floorgasm"...I highly recommend " Poet and the pendulum" and " the biggest show on earth" to you.

Floor sings with Epica on the song Sancta Terra at their live Retrospect show, with full orchestra and choir. Epica’s vocalist Simone Simons is another great Dutch soprano and the voices of the two ladies harmonise beautifully.
She is the greatest vocalist currently in the entire universe!!!!! There is NO genre that she cannot sing!!!! She has proven that time and time again!! While most singers voices decline over time, Floors only get better. She defies the odds and hasn't sold out like all the little pop and bubblegum singers have. She doesn't need to use sex to sell herself!! She doesn't have to sink to levels of utter disgrace to sell her image or music!!! She doesn't use ANY gimmick nor does she have to!!! No fake hair, eyelashes, boobs, ass, nails, lips or mono tone!! Get it folks?? She is authentic!!!! She is as real as real can be!!!! When you are authentic it shows that you have values and are comfortable in your own skin!!!! You aren't searching for a identity. When you are unique and authentic people try to copy you. Unfortunately the key word is try!! Imitation is often duplicated. A masterpiece can never be improved.

I have to say that I'm a hardcore Tarja fan from the beginning because she was THE voice that made the difference to other bands in that genre back in the days. Anette was ok, ehm well .. more a kind of musical singer and not really fitting the band and the music. But don't get me wrong, she is an amazing singer!
Floor is a total game changer: She glued the band together like no one before, she has the skills to perform every NW song even from the beginning and not sounding like a Tarja copy, she has her own vibes and that makes it special. Comparing Floor and Tarja is totally pointless, even if they sing the same song (there is a Ghost Love Score song by Tarja also: ua-cam.com/video/YODCM26JXOY/v-deo.html ).
Regarding Emppu: I'm so with you Harry, especially the solo ... he has the sense and musicality to not "overshred" it. I love that little guitar giant \o/

I'll politely disagree and offer my opinion that Anette fit in with the albums that were recorded with her. DPP was a bit of a struggle, but at least in the studio she did an amazing job.
@@ciflores0 I don't want to discuss this, because there are always discussions about that and people tend to compare all NW singers, and that is totally pointless. At the end it is also about personal preferences. I like Anette, she is an awesome singer, but for my personal preference, and I'm biased because I started with NW from the very first beginning, Anette was so totally out of that "normal" range NW was used to and popular for. I think it was some sort of "ignorance" from a hardcore fan and they've lost tons of "fans" that days. Don't get me wrong, this is no Anette-Bashing at all! But NW is raising fans again like hell since Floor is in the game, including me. I totally agree, Anette did an amazing job, not even in the studio. She kept the band from not drown into nothing.

I also respect that you'd been listening since the beginning, since I started listening much later after Once but before DPP. I think we both respect all members (past and present), but I just wanted to put my opinion that she did fit with her era of the music even if she couldn't fill all the shoes she was expected to. I always come back to your reaction of this song , its the best , must have seen this song reacted to 40 or 50 times this past year , Half Sister is good also . Ive never heard Nightwish before this past year 2023 , the best reactions are the ones who know Nightwish before Floor , i think she makes the band heavier and faster than before and the band seem to be really close the Floor . Floor is 6 foot tall and looks like a Viking Goddess - a voice that cannot be ignored. In front of this group of musicians, they change the world of epic music. She had to be what Wagner had in mind when he composed!
This never gets old. Juuka grooving on his TAMA double-base set, Emppu driving the rhythm in his signature ESP EV-1, Marco giving us epic base lines in his Warwick Buzzard, Tuomas sharing his genius on his KORGs and Floor leading the crowd like a modern-day 6-foot 1-inch Valkyrie and seducing like a siren. They are all at the top of the talent tree. Each one alone could lead a band into greatness let alone all five of them. One of the best live performances of all time. Not only musically but staging and production is unmatched. Any song you choose from this concert or the Live from Argentina from the same tour is gold!

How is it that there's been so many Ghost Love Score reactions and you're the only one that's mentioned Emppu's (guitarist) bit at the end there! Definitely would like to see you talk about this stuff more 'cause us non-musicians have NO idea and reaction channels like yours give us a chance to learn.
Also, Ghost Love Score was originally sung by Tarja and was in the same album as Planet Hell, haha! Maybe it didn't stick out to you as much as Planet Hell did at the time. I agree with another commenter that recommended Romanticide (older again) or Song of Myself (newer).

The band was created around Tarja's wonderful operatic vocal style, the combination of that and the metal music was something interesting. Tarja out, Anette in with a more pop friendly sound - not bad but just not enough it seemed to handle many of the older songs but the two records she was on (Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum) were pretty strong. Floor came from a somewhat symphonic metal/metal background with after Forever and ReVamp, being academy trained and versed in that style made her a perfect choice for NW and they could really open the catalog and play anything they wanted. There are still tunes that Tarja (and Anette) really shined on but Floor can handle them all in her own style.
I'm a year late but this group, drummer, guitars and the rest of it are amazing...I cant stop listening to this awesome band, love your reaction and showing what that guitar lic was all about. Thank you two.

Try Romanticide, Song Of Myself, Storytime, Last ride of the Day, Everdream from this same concert, eventually you need to watch Poet and the Pendulum but it is too soon for that as you need to research the band history and meaning of the song, it is a masterpiece, also to see Floor growl watch Yours in an Empty Hope from Wembley, she also sang on the Dutch tv show Bestezangers ( she is Dutch ) as she sings all sorts of songs and in different languages, watch her duet with Hank Poort singing Phantom Of The Opera, it’s stunning. Good reactions lol keep going with the Wacken 2013 show You will hear Marco sing and yes Emmpu is short 5' 3'' and Floor the Siren/Angel/ Valkyrie is 6'1'' without heels, do the whole show it's great. Start from the beginning Dark Chest of Wonders, Floor became the official singer round that time. There is only one Floor. NightWish struck pure gold with her. Every song Floor covers she makes it her own.

This band puts out one Diamant after another
Floor started her musical career in the band After Forever in 1997. While in the band she did 4 years at the Dutch rock academy, then another two years at the Conservatory studying classical singing and musical theater. When After forever quit in 2009 Floor started the band ReVamp. She did suffer a burn out in 2011, but recovered and gad started writing new material for ReVamp when Tuomas called and asked if she wanted to fill in for Anette who got fired in the middle of a world tour. When she arrived in the states she had 48 hours to learn the set list before her first show with the band. Fortunately she was a fan and knew most of the songs, not by heart, but well enough that they weren't totally new to her.
She did her first show as Nightwish's temporary singer in Seattle Oct. 1st 2012. The Wacken concert was recorded Aug.3rd 2013 almost to the day ten months after her first show. So that's where Floors been. 😉
