    I did not know the fish should not be moved backward during release. The Dannko Venturi valve was a nice surprise as I did not know there was a self-contained unit for air raiding my live well. I didn't know about keeping the Sobiki rig moving to prevent tangles. Stacking the left side of the reel was really nice to learn. Magnetic drag versus free spool is also very good to know. The length angles of the fish during retrieve were excellent to learn, I have never seen anyone else go into those details. Keeping the elbow out when reeling was a very good tip. The fluorocarbon line wipedown was a real surprise worth the price of admission.
    I love learning new techniques for fishing with one of the top reasons being that I add what I learn to my own teaching lessons. The more steps we take tweaking our techniques will increase our chances to put "fish on."

    Hi Mike, I must say that you are one of the best video producers I have seen on UA-cam. You obviously know the production skills it takes to produce a quality program. Smooth and steady camera work. Nice transitions and very good quality video. You have all angles the covered and your handheld with the steady stick assist is perfectly executed. These steps alone add so much value to your program.
    Now for the content; terrific. You are an excellent communicator. You know just what your audience needs to hear and you articulate it well. Your editing keeps the flow moving and eliminates the need for fast-forwarding. Your content is very good, fresh, and easily understood. The camera placement seemed to cover any angle needed. The sound quality is just as important as the video quality and the overall audio coverage was just about perfect.
    I found your trailer loading explanation very thorough and certainly a terrific technique, not un-similar to my own, with improvements. Overall an excellent presentation. I will follow you eagerly. By the way, I'm a retired television producer.

    I used to live line macks right at the mouth of that little river draw bridge you drove under. Couple of big rock piles out there hold some good bass looking for a hand out from the river, especially on the eb. A lot of times the macks would show up if I started chumming for em using a little bit of cat food or tuna and you could sabiki from shore for your bait.

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  7 років тому +2

      Pocono Outdoors Guy absolutely!! We have done that quite a few times actually, in fact some of the best freshwater Striper fishermen do a lot of cut bait in freshwater. Concentrate on points where you are marking fish. Creek points, main lake points and humps. Cut Herring is the best, but Shad will work too. Make sure it is fresh. I like live Herring right on the bottom. Change them out every 20 minutes or so. A twitchy Herring can be money!

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  2 роки тому

      The largest difference is the way Stripers move throughout a lake over the year. They obviously can’t migrate like the salts, but they do move quite a bit for specific reasons. That’s a great idea for a video actually. Thanks!

      Scott, Are you kidding me? With the fortune that is spent on fishing equipment, boats, tackle, rods & reels, not to mention a plethora of additional supplies, you call using a fish finder cheating? That's a joke right? Should we not use a GPS also and just try to guess how to get back home at night, wouldn't that be cheating too? What we need to do is stack all the available knowledge about fishing that we can, and utilize it in every way possible to maximize our return, which of course will never cover the price of admission.
