I love Madonna’s live voice. I love it’s mix of beauty and nervousness and aggression. I find it so compelling. Her music overall tends to sound better live than on record.

Ben Toth Well, I heard her sang Live and by Demand in Manila. The crowd was chanting the tittle Crazy For You. Madonna mockingly replies, you want me to sing that song, you come back tomorrow! And amazingly, the next night, Madonna sang Live and so powerful, her voice destroyed Mariah and Whitney for all eternity.
That is indeed babyface...seriously smooth voice and smoothest producer and songwriter, love her look here and those vocals are full of emotion and perfect imperfections ❤🔥🙌

Yeah, the first Ray of Light demos were being produced by him. "Never Love a Stranger" was one of those unreleased songs.

With this album, especially "Take a bow" the american public was already beginning to forgive Madonna for her "Erotica" era of music. "Take a bow" is one of Madonna's best ballads. And the song dominated the "Billboard Hot 100" chart, for 7 weeks it was at number 1.
By the way, the album "Bedtime Stories" was the bridge of what would be "Ray of light". I want to see your reaction to "Ray of light" Madonna's album that is considered by many music critics and the general public as her great masterpiece.
"Frozen" is still my favorite song of hers and it has gone viral on Tiktok in the last few months.

This was Madonna’s first and only performance ever at the American Music Awards…10+ years after her debut album was released. Back in the day it was a huge, rare deal for her to perform at one of these unlike artists today that work hard to get performances on as many awards shows as possible every year.
I heard this song for the first time in friends with Rachel and Ross, I loved it and since then it is one of Madonna's favorite ballads

After Bedtime Stories she released Something To Remember. Although it's a compilation of ballads, there are 4 new songs and also a bunch of songs that were not on any of her previous albums. You should do that one next because it really showcases her voice in a very different way, since all the songs are ballads.

That background singer dude is Babyface 😂. He was THE most sought after songwriter/producer in the 90s til early 2000 aside from being a singer himself. I forgive you for not knowing since you were born in that era.
Don't skip the Evita soundtrack before you do Ray of Light. You'll see her vocals change again to a more sophisticated controlled nuance and timber.
Oh that’s Babyface himself! Great vocal performance from both of them with nicely simple stage! I’m glad Madonna got some confidence back with this big hit because anti-Madonna or Madonna-is-over atmosphere was all over at that time after Erotica/Sex Book. She gained her mass popularity back with this mellow ballad by the star producer Babyface. Now I can’t wait for Ray of Light reaction soon! My fav No.1 album by Madonna!

Before she decided to take another musical direction, Madonna and Babyface wrote and recorded three new songs around 97. They all are just Take a Bow rehashed. They finally leaked a couple of years ago with the demos of the Ray of Light album.
Wow. Not a big fan of this song/album, but this live version is fantastic! The way her vocal lags behind the beat with her phrasing brings the song to life for me.

The song was huge in the US but a modest hit elsewhere, it even missed the top 10 in the UK. She’s never performed it on tour apart from Rebel Heart and only in Hong Kong.
You're right, Rain was a huge hit here in Australia (and other countries) while Take a bow was a modest hit. In the US it's the other way around! TAB got a lot of airplay here, so it's well known anongst my generation, but our charts are based on sales alone, and it didn't sell enough to crack the top 10 (it reached around #16 if I remember correctly)

That's Baby Face homie he produced that track and wrote the song or they wrote it together but he produced it and did the back up vocals
The other who she's singing with it's called Kenneth Edmonds, a.k.a BabyFace, and he's a music legend. He worked with some legendary artists who were on the top in the 90s, such as Boys2Men, Mariah, Whitney, TLC among others, singing and also producing, just like he did with Take a Bow. You should check out his catalogue on Spotify some time.
One of her last performances before singing lessons. She sounded good, even though she's nervous and she sounds shaky or a little bit flat sometimes.

I think she sounds great. She’s clearly nervous, but that’s what I love about her. She still does quite well. She has balls and keeps forcing herself to go out and perform.
I am still surprised Madonna never credited Babyface as a featured artist on Take a Bow, considering he provided harmonies on the album version of the track from start to finish. Still one of her best ballads.
She sure did, the song is written and produced by Madonna and Babyface. On the album, he is also mentioned doing backup vocals. If you mean that this song should be a duet Madonna&Babyface you are very wrong, this performance was staged that way, the song is only Madonna.

Babyface is one of the biggest songwriters/producers of r&b music of the 90s. Responsible for boyz 2 mens big hits. Other half of laface records with la reid. Great songs of his own. He produced / wrote this song and majority of this album.

Don't skip the Evita soundtrack. She worked and worked and worked (at Madonna work ethic levels!) with a vocal coach and the singing she did there is her best work ever. You can hear the difference.
