I bought one yesterday in the UK. Test rode it and couldn't get it out of my head. Had to have it!
I know the feeling! Congrats!
Im 22 and just found out theres a pretty good chance i have osteosarcoma. It's pretty much taken away the things i love to do since im in so much arm pain. Of course the things i live to do require my arm like riding driving and shooting etc) so the other day to kinda calm myself down while waiting for oncologist to get everything set up i decided to go to my local dealership tyat specializes in European bikes. There's a bunch of R18s there and i was absolutely blown away by the quality and craftsmanship of these bikes. Every attention to detail was taken when building and assembling the R18 and thd moment im cancer free, so long as i still can ride im going to buy a base r18 with spoked rims, the pinstripe and the fork tube covers. Its astounding to me that these bikes dont sell that highly from what the salesman said. Nice vid!
Hey there! Sorry about your situation. Hope that has a speedy resolve.I too was blown away by the looks and build quality of the r18... from my first test ride I've wanted one but were priced to high for me. A little while later my dealer gave me a rock bottom price which made it make sense and here I am. 🤣. I think it's one of the best deals in the cruiser segment atm. It baffles me that they didn't sell well, but that keeps the price down for the rest of us. If they quit making them I'm sure everyone will want one. Lol. Appreciate you sharing and Thanks for watching!
You go son. All the best for your recovery and here's to the moment you get handed the keys to your very own R18. Keep aiming for it!
Wait until you see the resale value of these. Plummets like a rock. Parts and service are exceedingly expensive for so simple a bike.
@@feloniousmonk3049 Yeah, I'm well aware but I bought it at below cost so it should depreciate like a regular bike now. 🤣
I have one myself and agree with most things you said however you left out the most important part, it’s awesome. I’m never selling mine!!!
Darn it ... I did leave that out 🤣. It's a saweet bike.
Beautiful bike man. Congrats.
Thanks Falcon! Appreciate it!
The R18 looks like such a good bike, sadly 6'4 frame wouldn't be able to ride this thing lol. Us bigger guys need the leg room where those side cans are. Great purchase though, you don't need 200hp going 150mph down the road on a cruiser, there's something to be said about a comfy slower ride to just put a smile on your face and enjoy the views.
@thereal-ghost Exactly! you 100% get it. If you get a chance to sit on one, I'd love to know your thoughts on the ergos... maybe a seat that's taller and further back would help?
@@bertsbike I did a bit of looking around and apparently you are correct, there is a taller seat that sits you back and up farther along with jug covers for stretching your legs out. so maybe it is possible for taller guys. I'll try to sit on one in April when I'm in Nashville. I think that's the closest dealer to me for Motorrad.
@@thereal-ghostSweet. Seems like it can be done. Also lots of guys for longer jaunts just rest their legs directly on the jugs. If you don't like that Idea they make some highway risers that attach to the crashbar and sit over the jugs. DM me on Instagram or facebook when/if you come down. I'd gladly meet up with you if you wanna look/talk bikes or just grab a coffee. ✌
I never thought about the whole legroom thing as it relates to the big beautiful jugs. Glad I'm only 5' 11" . :)
@@tsdmoto😂
Bought the exact same bike last week. I love it makes you feel like a badass lol
It definitely has that effect.
It’s a beautiful bike for sure. Just can’t get past it not having a fuel gauge/light/range indicator of any kind.
Yeah, There's no gauge but a fuel warning does come on and shows you your estimated reserver until empty. comes on at about a gallon left.
I just reset my trip meter at a fill up. Any bike I've had with a fuel indicator is very inaccurate anyway. Says full for a long time then dramatically lowers.
A beautiful and magnificent piece of machinery and a total joy to ride 😎
Absolutely! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Love that color and I agree on the stock bars. Try a pair of Pro-Race slip-on cans, amazing sound, not obnoxious or fatiguing, just a deep powerful sound.
Hey there! Thanks for tuning in! Yes I've seen those cans. They do sound awesome on the videos I've seen!
It was only a matter of time before the R18 broke through the v-twin mindset of the cruiser scene.
A Modern classic, iconic boxer pedigree.
With regards to the suspension, make sure you adjust the preload, keeping in mind that the minimum / default setting is for a 85kg rider with a full tank of fuel.
If you're lighter than 85kg, it'll feel harsh and cannot be adjusted beyond that, so your opnly option to match the preload is to add weight.
Luckily I'm 100kg and have the preload adjusted up with great results.
I agree. Admittedly, I was a little slow on the uptake.
I should double check the suspension settings. I'm about 85 Kg. But I usually carry a load, so it "should" be set. Appreciate the tip!
Enjoy !
I love mine.
Thanks! So far so good. Thanks for watching!
I will most likely get one as 2024 Road Glides are almost $30K now, I wil put white walls on it , I think it will look great on it.
Yeah, I hear you on the Road-Glide. Cool bikes but are very pricey. I'm a huge fan of white walls!
I really loved your review of the R18! I 'm waiting for the R12 to come out and plan to test ride both bikes back to back to see which one I like more and which one is more comfortable. I think I will be going for the R18 since with a longer wheelbase and with a slightly more suspension travel in the front, 4.7 inches opposed to 3.5 front suspension in the R12, the R18 will probably be more comfortable. If you get a chance to test ride the 2024 R12, could you please do a UA-cam video on it? Thanks!
Hey there! Well, that R12 looks pretty cool... I'll definitely try to get a test ride in. If I do I'll gladly get a video in! Appreciate the watch and the comment! Cheers!
@@bertsbike 👍 Cheers!
Congratulations Bert. Gorgeous bike. The blacked out motor and black engine covers work so well. The cruise control is faultless, even at town speeds. Wish you many years of chill and ride. Do you have a reverse gear?
Thanks! Yes I think the blacked out engine works really well with the green vs. the chrome accents. Cruise is gonna be nice on those long jaunts. No, I don't have the reverse gear. That would've been nice to have but I've never had a bike with that so I'd probably forget it's even there. 🤣
Just want to say thank you Bert. I have just done 1000 miles on my R18 classic. Most of them in Rock mode. I used Roll mode for the first two minutes of my test ride and just stayed in Rock from that moment forward. After watching your video I tried Roll again and was surprised how the motor feel changed, so little vibration. I now use Roll mode when I am on my way to the twisties, in the traffic and enjoy the smooth ride. When the time to open her up begins two clicks of the mode button and I remember why I bought the bike and why they call it Rock 😆. Cheers brother. @@bertsbike
@@BikesDrones Hey there! Thank You! Appreciate the watch and comment. The R18 is just a great machine. Gets better the more you ride it. She's more of a slow burn than some bikes but that's why I love it!
As a Springfield dark horse rider, love the blacked out motor. Sure would like to test drive one, but we have no dealers in my area.
Ah, that's too bad. The Springfield is a sweet Indian tho!
I love how the big girl gets started, looks like it's going to tip itself over.
Yup, I gotta get used to rev-matching on it while coming to a stop. 😝
Great video, Bert! Beautiful color. Do you live in Nashville?
Thanks. Yeah, I dig the matte green. Yes I do live in Nashville.
What Year? You mind sharing what you paid? I have heard these have been discounted. Great Video! Thanks
Hey there thanks for tuning in. Mine is a 2023. I don't really want to put pricing in the comment section because I may have further videos on all that. If you want those details I'd gladly share them with you over FB or Instagram private message. Hit me up on those platforms! However, my local dealership is Nashville Motos has another R18 heavily slashed on their website atm.
$11,995 with 2 miles: Euro Cycle Las Vegas, a 50% discount of the original asking price… makes u want to get one, doesn’t it!
Just passed msf class and want this, but going from Honda rebel 300 in class to this might be a bit much 😕
@@marks8636 Yeah... It's a beast. You can always get one later.
Join the forum lots of info on there. Welcome along my friend 👍
Thanks! I joined up!
In regards to parking. Doesn’t that bike have reverse? That’s one of the selling points the dealers here mention.
The reverse gear is an add on. Mine doesn't have it.
I didn’t know that was an option. The r18’s sold here comes standard. Of course its all tucked in with a premium price tag😂
@@M_Proximo ...Maybe a factory add-on? Every dealership seems to have them customized/outfitted to some degree... Mine had the blacked out engine, passenger seat, heated grips and cruise control.
Not sure where you're at but in the U.S. they've slashed prices heavily making them a very high quality bike at that low price.
@@bertsbike here in the Philippines the first edition retailed for about 34k usd. It only came with one option. Full spec🤣
@@M_Proximo Woah! I'm actually from Manila. Yeah that's $$$ over there. You can get a R18 base/with the options I listed from 11-15k USD.
hi i have 1 question , do you feel too much vibration on handlebar while you riding a bike? and do your hands get tired a lot ? it's a 1800cc after all :)
Hey there. Thanks for watching. The vibes are there but once you get the RPM in the mid 2's they smoothen out. Having gone a few hundred miles in a day It's not something I think about or anything becoming bothersome. Compared to my old Harley the vibes are very much on the mild side.
What is the color called? It likes kinda olive green?
@@thunderglock It's called Manhattan Matte. Some people say it's grey. It looks grey in some lights.
I can't get past the limited suspension travel in the rear, no fuel gauge, rpms counted in 50's, not 10's, and without tubeless tires and rims. Too much missing.
Most cruisers I've ridden/owned have the same things you just mentioned. I think the standard version comes with the mag wheels. They're all outfitted differently from the dealer tho. Personally I love it for all the things it isn't. It does everything well. It's exceptional at distance. But most of all it just feels great to me. I admit it is an acquired taste next to the likes of other manufacturers. It gets better and better every time I ride it.
Head to Wyo
only 1400 or so miles!
