Totally aside from Ray's amazing musical career, he absolutely could have had a successful career as a broadcaster. It's not just his amazing voice but his fascinating persona. He has the magical ability to be fascinating when speaking on just about any subject. And he retained his skills until he died, that's also rare. What a huge loss.
John Smickle Oh, you're stalking me now? Look, I've got a girlfriend, okay? These concerts he's talking about are all awesome. Give them a listen if you haven't. Even the Miami show is great. It's an absolute Cluster F****, and Jim sang terrible, but a work of art. Confusion in it's happiest form.
I,m mystified with Ray .Its such." black and white " with Ray .... I,m sure that if he hadnt been with the Doors he would have made a great CEO .. but also he has a brilliant artistic bias in his DNA ..They deffinately wouldnt have survived without each other .An eclectic combo that encapsulated the times ..I wish I could have seen them live ..The greatest band of all time ! .
Miss the integrity, loyalty, and just good dude. It's not he will be missed, he is missed, like a lot. The internet opened up a whole bunch of massive doors.
I saw the Doors once in 1970 at Madison Square garden felt forum and then in 1971 doing other faces at Carnegie hall , pretty good pretty good pretty neat pretty neat.
yes ray and jim were very much a like spirtually ive heard ray say in other interviews and they were in film school together ray is very awesome and him and jim were quite the pair of freinds
@Deathsquad49 Look for "The whole thing started with rock and roll, now it's out of control" Ray Manzarek. I can recommend the track "I woke up screaming". Good Luck.

Ray was the true backbone of the band. He always kept Jim’s spirit alive years after his death. Ray you are missed!
RIP, Ray. Once of music's most clear-thinking, intelligent, unique keyboardist, ever.
An incredibly intelligent, gifted guy. He will be sadly missed. RIP Ray......
I know, it's horrible that he's gone. RIP Ray M.
I love Ray, he is always enthusiastic, and never seems annoyed to tell the same stories over and over again. He still says "man", every other word like the sixties!!!! we love you Ray!!!!
Ray was such a literate speaker that if he never became a musician, he would have without question had a great career in radio or television.
If you close your eyes and listen he and howard stern have very similar voice. Howard's just dumber and more perverted.

Love this man... fucking million dollar smile when he told story
Very highly intelligent and articulate, too.
what a cool cat. Jim always gets the spotlight but Ray was the heart of the band

when I die, I want Ray to narrate my life. what a voice.
Met Ray at the Light My Fire book signing. Man was a great storyteller could have sat there all day listening. R.I.P
Jim opens the doooors of perception for Ray...THANK YOU RAY!!!
Great musician great personality lots of charm wit and openess..sad to know hes not with us any more R.I.P....Doors Forever..!!!!
This was the greatest idea, to release these concerts entirely! Im really thankful for that. RIP RAY!
He has a good radio voice
i could sit and listen to ray tell stories all day long, he has the knack to talk your ear off in a classy style!!!

I read that Ray, in his death bed in 2013, did a mini concert for the hospital staff. Amazing to the end.
@@jlbaker2000 NOW that is incredible THANK YOU for sharing that!
RIP Ray...thanks for the music
yeah Ray had insane skill on the keys, and a style that is yet to be recreated
Such a great man with a great mind. This was definitely obvious through his musicianship. Sigh........................
AWESOME interview! Ray was always sooooo cool and nice. I met him several times and he was the same. COOL
God he's amazing!!! If I won the lottery, I would use the money to have the Doors perform a live, private show.
thats my god father. ::proud::

Never see any interviews where he talks about his solo stuff anywhere
Yeah, hopefully there’s an archived interview out there of Ray talking about his Rock Operatic version of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in 1983.

Love the music of the the doors
Ray was a good man, he had a great love affair with Dorothy.
R.I.P. Ray, if he knew then he had only 3 days more than three years left, makes you think.
Ray honoured Jim's memory.
@DannyCruzz that's a really good question...I've only ever seen Ray talk about stuff
His voice sounds like Howard Sterns'
Except way better. Howards is deep but nasally, ray's is rich like smooth chocolate
ray is such a nice guy

Pff the interviewers face at the end. Ahah. Fascinating story, but the interviewers dead stare broke the mood hahaha
When Jim was on the concerts were great.
LA doors greatest rock and roll band.
yes...
Ray and the interviewer are complete opposites. Ray is enthusiastic and interesting. The host is monotone and dead inside.
I think it would be more devastating if Ray Manzarek were to Jim Morrison right now. I think he has about 20 years god willing.

I wonder what Ray's singing ability is like, with that voice it might sound interesting. And I really wish I owned a Vox Continental like he does.
