The fact that this has under 1k views should be criminal! He was an immaculate storyteller and musician. God bless you ✌🏻

What a interview😅
I was driving when I heard the news Ray passed away. I had to pull over for a few minutes. Man...it hit me hard.
I saw his photo on the local publication: The Argonaut" It was a dark, day for my mind..I couldn't believe it,and life makes you deal with it. It is like you stand still and the world around you is speeding on its' "merry way"....
Love this guy! Humour, articulate and down to earth. Fantastic musician. The doors lit my fire😀
I shook Ray's hand and chatted alone with him for 5 minutes at a 90s trade show near Boston. By proxy I shook Jim's hand too! Unforgettable fellow, so easy to talk with...
Ray was one unique individual. I did not know him, but I do miss him. Relatedly, The Golden Scarab is as underrated as they come.
The chick is a tad hysterical.
Could you imagine being in a relationship with this interviewer? Sickening
I agree about how sickening she was, especially her outrageous & loud laughing at the mention of Jim in his bolted coffin which left poor Ray speechless. But Ray was still so nice, intelligent & fascinating as ever.
Ray was the Doors cheerleader and glue. Absolutely brilliant groundbreaking keyboardist.
Ray. What an amazing artist. An amazing, insightful, kind, unique man. There will NEVER be another RM. Remember his wise words about life. Say no to hard drugs. Soul destroyers. No matter what you're fighting within yourselves, drugs, including alcohol, are not the answer. You may feel down today but remember, the sun will surely rise again tomorrow. Love yourself. Peace.
Yes Agree No Ray No Doors..for me its As Simple as That.We Got So Lucky There..!
ABSOLUTELY
IN FACT ALL 4 MADE THE DOORS of Perception.
Ray is so erudite, eloquent and entertaining!
What a most brilliant man Ray Manzarek was, what a stunning great band the Doors were, what brilliant storytellers, songwriters and musicians all the boys were, I could listen to Ray and Jim talk for days and nights, none stop
Okay, here you go; Jim; ua-cam.com/video/It4NvUOSaP4/v-deo.html Robby; ua-cam.com/video/6gnuVDADnoI/v-deo.html :)
Highly intelligent and articulate guy.
They all were/all
I love Ray!!! RIP LEGEND
Yep .. certainly more than one Genius behind them Doors
Four Doors... One For Each Direction. 🎹🎸🥁🎤📝🧭
Yes they all had high IQs
Ray was an absolute genius playing keyboard, using his left hand keeping rhythm and playing main with his right.Been able to split your brain kind of to be able to do 2 different actions at the same time..what a talent all the Doors were, there hasn't been a group like them since. .a great time in history when they all came together
I loved the doors and still do
I've listened to many Ray interviews he's like the pied piper it's always fresh and interesting
loved this interview to bits, Ray is one of the two mystic guys on this planet besides George Harrison will live on my memory forever you legends
'So what!, we already did the Sullivan show!' Jim Douglas Morrison : )
What a guy! Godspeed
Sublime interview, thank you.
Ray is great. Saw him at a brew-house in Sebastopol. Played Doors music told stories and answered questions.think I paid $8 to get into the show. What a great ambassador for the doors and positive spirituality. Very fun night.
Unbelievably great keyboardist. Just the best.
Ray is an absolute legend.
Props from Detroit city for this interview. Brilliant individual and fabulous story teller.
Thank you, THE DUTCH GUY, for sharing this great interview! I love that Ray has so many interesting stories and great messages to tell and Susan Marie did such a great job of bringing them out of him. Along with the interview by Alison Steele, this is one of my favorite interviews given by Ray. I can listen to him talk for hours. It seems he's the real brain of the band while Jim is the poetic spirit of the Doors. He reminds me of Timothy Leary in his factual positive view on psychedelics.
So glad I found this. Thank you
RIP big yin love the doors 😁🏴
I really like to imagine how they worked out the song at clubs.
Everyone in the crowd must of known it was going to be a huge hit.
This has to be the best interview with him I've heard!
@someunoriginalname: I totally agree, this interview is great, Manzarek is so quirky, funny and intelligent.
I enjoyed this so much.
Ray Manzarek (RIP) is well known to have had a tendency to embellish his stories to keep the Jim Morrison mystique alive. Here he says all members in the group were in agreement to not not say "higher" but when you see Robby Krieger's reaction in the video to Morrison doing just that it's unmistakable that he was totally surprised that Morrison actually did say "higher".
They said that Jim just sang it as normal. No agreement to plan it
Rip Ray
Robbie and John are still going. Jim was so scary to people back then, (he was near-totally uncontrollable) that everyone seems to have said that he wouldn't be around even for the remainder of the the 70's.
RIP to the best to do it
He drove a band playing bass & keyboard
at the same time...the DOORS WERE
COMPLETELY UNIQUE.
A real gentleman love you ❤❤❤❤❤God bless all the Doors members and everyone ❤❤❤❤
Moonlight Drive, all about brave and daring and trying. Like fighting the tyranny of man in 2021.
Aside from Ray’s absurd speculations about the sealed coffin (he should know better, but somebody has to play Paul the evangelist), a good interview.
I do like what Ray has to say about the endless distractions of our digital life (and it’s only gotten worse since his time). People often marvel that the doors were so young when they created that great body of music. This fact is integrally related to their focus on their music and their lack of distractions.
To be fair, jims coffin was made to fit a 5'4 man.
Jim waa 5'11
In order to be inside, jims knees are bent.
Witnesses also said that the coffin felt light.
Thanks for this nice interview
Enjoyed this thanks.
Thank you very much.
Who the hell am I? Nobody different than you... but IF I had to give this interview a grade, it'd fall somewhere between a C and a C+. Search out Jim Ladd's "Innerview" series on The Doors if you want to hear some really great conversations about ALL aspects of the band. This was a "fun" interview; not too heavy, so in that regard I did like it. What I found REALLY intriguing was how Ray mentioned that Oliver Stone did a great job in his rockumentary film "The Doors" - at least in THIS interview. First time I heard Ray say that; any other time when I heard his comments, he said that Stone did a poor job in recreating the characters from real life to film... anyway, thank God we have the words and the music of one of the greatest rock bands ever. God bless you, and thanks for the scoop, Ray!
Beautiful talk😅
In this he said the movie was accurate, but in his book he said the movie wasn’t accurate at all. Plus his story of the Sullivan appearance is totally different as well. I guess he changes with the wind..
Ray wasn’t as good an authority on Doors history as Robby. He would embellish sometimes.
@@scottharrison9083I agree. As patriotic as Ray was to The Doors’ legacy, he remained one-sided about everything and everyone with the premise that Jim Morrison could do no wrong and how dare anyone disagree with him (Ray) about any of it. Whereas Robbie is much more levelheaded about it all from beginning to end and is a much more chill person in general than Jim, Ray, and even John were/are.
So at the end he did say God bless you! The true God (invisible God that most pantheists and atheists deny) does exist! Mr.Manzarek has met Him for sure, the second he had the last breath! Are you ready to meet Him? Jesus is the answer! I used to be a Doors fan back in the 90s, and their music and songs did prompt me to think of extraterrestrial things (psychedelic matters, which in essence means spiritual matters) until I got God's Word (the ultimate and the only truth)! Mr.Manzarek was very astute in oriental philosophy and ideology. but sadly was very mistaken.
The bible does say that heaven will be on a newwww earth, doesn't it? So that part....accurate?...true though, man is fallen...the ego cannot go farther than ...self destruction, where the devil awaits! Only one Lord and Savior... JESUS CHRIST 🎯❤️
This was cool to listen to.....had to delete the silent stuff due to lack of space on my phone
Should of been top 10 for sure ..
Ray Manzarek
12/02/39
20/05/13
He was an Aquarius
Ray was the doors 🚪
Robbie Krieger wrote it and played the fantastic guitar solo. Everyone outdid themselves for this tune. Never again did Robbie sound so soulful...(my opinion of course).
And Ray was a liberal democrat until the end.
Ray was a libertarian
I love ray but he is still tripping lol
@The Dutch Guy can I please ask what year was this interview done?
Sure, 2010
Many thanks.
i GOT TO LIKE SHINIA TWAIN, BECAUSE i COULD HERE THE DOORS IN IT
Not sure which book to read his or John Densmore
The Father God🔯of Male Dominance eventually gives
Way to The Mother Goddess of Female Prominence.☯
Gott Segne dich
Frank Sinatra and Van Morrison = Jim Morrison. Long live the Doors!
She is not bright.
whats up with the annoying laughter?
I agree. Ridiculous laughter
Ray is great but the interviewer seems really fake
Her laughing is killing me.
Agreed.
She only knew one song!
From the absolute respect and admiration to Ray, I have to say that his examination about God is totally false and full of error and confusion. Creator and mind is not the same. The World and the God is not the same. Budish is the opposite of Jesus religion way. Sadly, Ray has shown his total ignorance about religion and philosophy. and all he says about it , is pure eclecticism and frivolous syncretism. Probably he learned a lot about European cinema, but he didn´t learn almost nothing about Religion and Phylosophy European Knowledge. Their generation suffered the initial social ingenery of Frankfurt school and freudomarxism, 68 Paris, Drug abuse, the decepcion of council vatican 11 and as a consecuence the flowering of hedonism. This way is not good, because Epicureanism was the decadence of Greek Philosophy which really began with Plato and Aristoteles. The greatness of Doors music is that usually treats about love, travels, beautiful landscapes as the desert , sea vojages, Andalusian pilgrimages, human depiction passages like sof parade. Fortunately, Doors songs has as an anchor the goal of romanticism. The mistake in his poetry is the panteism as a possibility and the hedonism, besides moral relativism. Of course, I´m a superb fan of Ray and Doors music, the best rock band ever.
I've heard worse, but this interviewer is not good. You can tell Ray is not enjoying dealing with her not making sense. He sounds great, as always. I host radio shows, and I think she's irritating and hasn't done her homework, talks about herself too much, editorialized, the excessive, loud giggling is like nails on a chalkboard, and she pretends she understands what Ray is talking about. She's not too bright. The hyperbole is annoying - "Amazing!", "Wonderful!" etc. too. I could say even more. Gotta turn this off. This is killing me. My interview would have been very different. I would have done my homework, which she obviously hasn't. Oh, btw, she also mispronounced Ray's name.
John Densmore lost Pam to Jim. Jim hated john. Jim left recording LA woman because he couldn't stand john.
Later, john caused so much stress it gave Ray cancer and it killed him.
Literally nothing you've said here is true or even remotely makes any sense whatsoever.
@@El_Hicks John tried to dated Pam in 1966, but she went on with Jim, Jim and John weren't buddies also.. And John sure caused some stress as he choose not to be a musician like Ray and Robby did, but a prosecutor. So some makes sense...
Sorry but it's true.
@@rev.jimjonesandthekool-aid4488 Regardless of what happened in the 60's when Jim was alive, full credit has to be given to John Densmore for joining forces with Jim's father to block Ray & Robbie from selling the Doors music for use in commercials in the early 2000's. When Jim was alive he was opposed to selling the Doors music for such purposes. Ray/Robbie wanted to cash out and violate Jim's preferences when he was alive. John honored Jim's spirit by opposing such moves along with Jim's estate (his father/sister, etc.).
Untrue.
The doors.
Two greatest words ever.
Jim ray Robbie john.
The four greatest words ever.
Good God. The cackling, forced laughter makes this unlistenable.
