its impressive that it hit 80mph like it was nothing and still accelerating like its nothing. This would have been good performance from a sedan in the early 2000s
I thought the 7.3l would have some good power figures to back up the size but it makes about 25 less orsepower than my 6.2l and only 25 more torque, am I missing something here?
I’m thinking this motor would like to be swapped into my f-150.
I have an F250 crew cab 6 3/4’ bed with the 7.3 and 4.30 gears. Plenty of low end and high end pulling power. If you think you are going to be drag racing in it you’re going to be disappointed. That’s not what it’s for.
Nice to see all trans gears actually being utilized. Sick and tired of seeing 8 and 10 speed transmissions being geared like 5 and 6 speed boxes.
What a beast ford all the way 🔥🔥.. lovely clean v8
Guys.... 10 is too much.
That's what she said
If you're into acceleration and performance, why did you buy an 8,000 lb f250?
Looks like 8.5 sec 0-60. Watch out for the rice burners, they might getcha if their fart can is big enough.
see how it sounds if you had a 1995 ford f-350 7.3 man the ford lost its nice sounding idle over the years
You had it in tow/haul mode.
Leave it in normal mode.
It's faster.
Or put it in Deep Snow mode.
It will brake your neck
I have the same truck.
@John Stone what kind of dork are you to call someone out on grammar skills in the youtube comment section of a 30sec video...
@John Stone Life is about learning. If you're going to shame somebody for whatever they typed in a comment on a video, you should reevaluate yourself. This isn't a resumé, nor is it an essay. The point of the comment was to convey a message and he did that
@John Stone
Go spew your hatred somewhere else
Your comment is not welcome here, ok?
60 to 90 was impressive faster than a lot of cars with 300 horsepower
I like Ford but Ford being silly Ford again. The 7.3 was a diesel for how many years? And the 7.5 was a gasser for how many years? Why didn't they just remake the 460?
Watch the video ford made on it, all has to do with the perfect size gas engine for a low end torque monster while still using pushrod tech like a ls but actually made to last
@@stevenk5775 are you saying the LS doesn’t last? Lol
The 460 was a heavy and large big block, this small block can fit a lot of various vehicles and last longer
@@Caleb81998 I cringe whenever I hear that 💀 like it’s a good engine just admit it keep it trucking lol.
I just wanted to see his piston rods blow out the block @ 100 mph. I was all like "hit 100, hit 100, hit 100"....😂
Lol not really considering the stock bottom end can hold up to 1500+ hp if done correctly or around 800+ boltons
Finally a good video of it
What would happen if that engine was installed in the BRONCO?
Just watching his avg mpg rapidly decrease
How are those on fuel? Drove an F350 with the gas 6.2L it pulled good, but it was horrendous on fuel.
It wad just a test drive I did. I'm sure it's guna average around 10 to 11
Gasser is nothing compared to the diesel
What is the MPG on that thing? The way I drive... 7 gallons per mile. Pretty neat to see that Ford came out with another 7.3 after twenty some odd years except this one is gas.
0-60 mph looks to be roughly 8 seconds
Is that good?
@@FrancescoCS for a truck that big, yeah
Francesco It might be a little bit on the slow side stock but these trucks are very impressive with a few bolt ons or a supercharger.
@@jeffb8561 I have a Silverado with a v6 and it does 0-60 in like 7.5 or 8 secs and I was looking for some mods to make it faster u know
Idk I expected better performance. True it is big but for it to have such a huge displacement for a big motor and can get smoked by its 2.0l ecoboost relatives.
This video is a damn near perfect example of torque Vs HP. Love it
Thanks I appreciate that
was that 0-60 in like 8 sec ?
Yeah
That truck weighs over 6000 lbs what do you expect.
@@wmc128 I think the 6.7 diesels are low 6s, with more than twice the torque.
@@garys2157 exactly diesel makes more torque than 7.3 gas. With that being said its a tow rig not a race truck. Its meant to haul and pull heavy loads.. gee let see who can waste more fuel trying to do sport car things.
@@wmc128 they both would rip way more if they just got a tune to cut the speed limiter and so the computer doesn’t cut power when u give it the beans
Those smiles per gallon though:)
MPG moving just as fast as the fuel gauge 😆
Impressive. No valve lifters failed and the transmission didn’t skip any gears. I didn’t know there were any 7.3 engines that do that.
More impressive, in this entire thread I managed to only find one fear mongering primadonna spouting off about sub 1% failure statistics as normality.
And that’s how u burn a half tank of gas in 31 seconds!!
Worth it
@@Dat4valveGuy 100percent. I drive a tundra. Its 10 dollars just to start it. Lol
@@Dee12327 haha same with my power stroke pretty sure every time I put the pedal down it’s like 5$
@@Dat4valveGuy haha 100 percent. Its 15 if you’re pulling something! Powerstrokes pulls good though!
@@Dee12327 yeah it pulls great! Tundras are great trucks too if I were to get a new half ton it would def be from Toyota
What do you get regularly for mpg
The amount of people in the comments that have no clue what they’re talking about is mind blowing
Least it's following in its dad's (460) footsteps... absolutely guzzling gasoline
Put a 429 timing chain set into a 460 and see what happens. The 460 cam is retarded 6 degrees from the factory
For what it is, it's pretty fast.
What exactly are you compensating for?
Imagine this thing in something like a miata
Godzilla name is already taken. Its for the GTR. Why does speedo gage numbers stop at 100?
Sloooooooooooooooow
All these haters! Wow. That's a dam fast truck. And yes it gets better mpg than a Cummins and Duramax corvette mustang.
Also puts the 3.0l Duramax to Shame so don't compare that mpg to this.
I mean a diesel gets 8-10 mpg more than that and makes the same power and is easy to tune so yes mpg can be discussed.
Finally ford was like damn let's try what Chevy is doing
Jesus, that thing MOVES, for a building on wheels.
How's your MPG? I'm guessing 9 or 12 on a good day.
its in the video its 9 at 10 mph and 7.3 at 90mph
Did you just do that with 18 miles on the odometer? Ummm rip any sort of gaskets and their chance of sealing properly...
very impressive power delivery, at both the low and high end. I hope you're enjoying the truck!
Love the gas 7.3, but jeez, think 10 ratios is enough? Is that engine's powerband _that_ narrow?? With all that displacement?
The engine has a good wide power band. The 10 is great when your towing 20k. That's why semis have alot of gears so you can always stay in the power and maintain speed under heavy load
@@adamhowe8499 I thought that was because their engines have _narrow_ power bands. If your engine makes great torque at 1800 RPM and also at 4500, seems like you wouldn't need as many gears to always be somewhere with good torque. But I don't tow so I don't really know.
Big block is a Chevy thing. Also doesn’t mean what you think it means in terms of displacement rather designs that why a 427 cubic inch aluminum ls7 corvette motor isn’t technically a big block
How long until the MPG starts reading GPM?
no offense it seems like kinda slow on the 0-60 for that much displacement, how heavy and what kind of torque is she talking? i have a 2006 v10 diesel that does 6 seconds 0-60 with 550 ft lb and 25mpg cruising and my buddy has a 2020 ram 3500 6.7 diesel thats even quicker. i just figured gassers would be quicker... but yours sounds a million times better LOL
Big ol push rod power, love it!
The 7.3 is not a big block. Displacement is not what determines big block vs small block.
Where do your rpms sit in 10th at 80mph?
as fast as a 3.7 mustang with a perfect launch
