My Mom is 73 and if you ask her what her favorite song is, it is Mother by Danzig. She's amazing.
Thats fuckin rad.
Always said his voice sounds like Jim Morrison and Elvis had a love child.
If you liked that and were interested in possibly hearing some punk rock, his band The Misfits are legendary amongst the scene.
We are 138 for life
Misfits my all time fav punk band!
My favorite Glen Danzig music is still from when he was in The Misfits.
Agree 👍
77-80 esp.
@@nomnomnomJon that was the only time. After that was Graves. lol
@@maxxdahl6062 ohh no!
Now it's time for "Her Black Wings"
Thats heavy metal Elvis
Always struck me more as a Metal Jim Morrison. The vocals are much closer to Jim than Elvis.
@@profanepersonality Glen has always had dark lyrics. Last Caress
@@profanepersonality he was a huge fan of Morrison, Elvis and Roy Orbison growing up. It's why his vocals sound like a cross between all of those singers.
@@marcusreddoch6964excellent song!!
Exactly what I was going to say. Danzig was the coolest rocker!
How the Gods Kill another great track.🤟
ahhh Twist of Cain...what a track
Watch as Polo listens to the first 5 seconds of the song fifty times in a row.
His voice kinda reminds me of Jim Morrison
you definitely should have watched the live performance of this video....adds a whole another dimension to the performance
The ENTIRE Danzig 1st album is Fiiiiyaahhhhhhh
Twist of Cain
Am I Demon
She Rides
all.of it, fiyah
Ha! This brings back memories. In the early 90s our girls were very small and called my mother "muzzer". She'd babysit for us often. My husband would call her and sing this "Muzzer Do you want watch our kids tonight"????
I believe this song was written in response to Tipper Gore, when she testified in front of congress about creating rating labels for records similar to movie ratings
Yep, you're absolutely right 😊
Awesome band! You gotta check out "Long Way Back from Hell"!!❤❤❤
Twist Of Cain, I Am The One, I Am Demon, She Rides and many others are all great
BANGER!!! LOVE DANZIG!! ❤❤❤ 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glenn Danzig is awesome!!
As a singer.. but it pretty much ends there.
I knew you'd appreciate his voice 💜
His first 3, maybe 4 albums were my favorite under the moniker Danzig. Other songs of note are, Bodies, How The God's Kill, Snakes Of Christ, & Long Way Back From Hell
I Am Demon, She Rides, Twist of Cain, Devils Play Thing
Are all good tracks
am i demon, like he's asking a question, but an awesome song, nonetheless. i knew a guy in college that whenever we would smoke at his place he would get out his guitar and start playing am i demon (literally all 4 times we smoked at his place), and every time whatever we were smoking made it back to him, he would stop and then start from the beginning again. to this day i have no idea if he can play the entire song or just the main riff. haha
Never really checked out any Danzig other than "Mother" until your comment. All those songs you mention are awesome! I'm adding Danzig to my rotation for sure. Thanks!
@@clifhaley5150 pretty soon. You will dive into all of IT! Misfits and samhain
This song is freaking awesome! Glen Danzig is legendary
If like this you definitely need to check out The Cult Fire Woman
Nobody ever mentions “Do you Wear the Mark” for a Danzig recommendation… that’s the best!
Such an important band in my late teens. So many memories.
His Idols were Elvis and Jim Morrison, its most known song for sure,
Try Her Black wings next or Killer Wolf
Fun fact....Glen Danzig also wrote songs for Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Weird....but true. Lol.
Even back in his Misfits days , Glenn has always had 1 foot firmly planted in the 50's when it comes to songwriting . Great melodies over classic chord progressions and this particular lineup really showcased all that .
my cousin once said about danzig's voice, "he could make an album just reading definitions from a dictionary and it would sound bad ass."
Do like i did. Listen to all of them. Misfits ,Samhain,Danzig. I was obsessed in the 80's . Took a big break. Now it sounds so good again.
Excited for this! 💜
Danzig was what your mom thought KISS was
Saw Danzig live just after this came out. Amazing times!
One of my favorites ❤ Thanks for sharing your journey, always!
Danzig a big fan of Elvis and Roy Orbison. even has an album of him singing Elvis classics. i love all his albums. check out his song "Left Hand Black".
I discovered Danzig back in the early 90's and been a huge fan since. The Lucifuge album rocked my world at the time, Her Black Wings being the first song I heard. That entire album is amazing. Others favs include Tired of Being Alive and Pain in the World. Really, the whole album is great. Then, went back to their original album and discovered Mother, Twist of Cain and Evil Thing....whole album is a banger! How the Gods Kill album also left it's mark with the song How the Gods Kill, When the Dying Calls, and Dirty Black Summer. These first 3 albums where untouchable for me. Their 4th album, still great, started to depart a little from their original 3....but some great tracks still.... I Don't Mind the Pain and Going Down to Die my favorites. All albums after this point, although still good, didn't have the same feel to me. At some point, you could tell Glen Danzigs voice had changed and had new band members....there was just something about those original members that made them so great....John Christ, Chuck Biscuits, and Eerie Von.
Great reaction. Killer song. Her Black Wings, How The Gods Kill, long way back from hell, Five Finger Crawl, Unspeakable all good tracks. So many more.
Glen Danzig, the lead singer started with the band the misfits, I'd really like to hear you do some early misfits
Danzig had gotten into a bar fight about 10 years ago before a run of shows, I saw him play fortwo hours with a shoulder cast on it was epic, He was in the Band the Misfits. check out She Rides.
Great song!! One of my faves ❤
The first 2 Danzig LPs are awesome. But that first one is flawless.
i agree, but i give a slight edge to lucifuge. danzig III is good too, but they never were able to re-capture what the first 2 albums had.
He was a big dude too! I remember watching a video of him getting his ass kicked in the hallway after a concert by somebody weighs smaller than him lol but I used to jam this song all the time! It don’t matter if you’re fighting or riding a skateboard, racing a car or working out the song will get you Rockin!
Love most of what Danzig has put out. Glad to hear them on your show.
I like Glenn best when he was singing for the Misfits.
Bad ass song 🎵 ❤
Looooved this song!!!! I would love for you to react to Metallica's Die Die Die. Great song too. It's definitely one you listen to loud in the truck.
Danzig’s Black Aria is a vibe, especially during October.
ooh, yes! 🖤
When I was young I used to lay in the yard (no tent) listening to black aria, looking at the stars until I went to sleep
@@dukkduk1981 that’s the way to do it.
@@wallyllama2926 takes the album to new levels lol.
Never have I made the Billy Idol comparison.
Now I’m stuck with visions Glen curling his upper lip like Billy. 🤣
Pretty much every song on the first 4 albums are great.
❤❤❤ Crazy head bangin' song right there!!! Not many people have reacted to it. I'm happy you are!! The '80s had great music. 😊😊
Seen him live. Just wow big man. We all wanted him as wolfivrne
Danzig grandma likes it ❤ ✌️ baby...
This brings back memories... In 1997, I was at a really preppy (sixth form) college, here in the UK. I didn't fit in. At all. I was like Glenn Danzig in many ways. I was in a metal band, listened to metal and punk.
I had long black hair, like Glenn I'm small, but was very muscular, just 5'5", but a 42" chest, 26" waist, 8 pack, bulging muscles, all that. Of course I didn't wear a shirt. Yes, even to college. Just a biker jacket, leather jeans, chains, bullet belt, all that. I was a street fighter every weekend so had fingerless leather gloves with spikes, usually had a few cuts and bruises. You get the picture...
Everyone else was upper middle class and didn't want anything to do with me. But I got the attention of this one girl, Jenny, who I guess was attracted to the bad boy look, or perhaps wanted to rebel against her parents. We started dating. She was just 17, I was 18 (the age of consent is 16 in the UK).
I went to pick her up from her house for our first evening date, a big house in an exclusive neighborhood. I dressed like I always did. As expected, her parents were horrified. I did my best to come across as gentle and charming, but as I shook her parents' hands, I was trying desperately to not laugh...
Because I had this song in my head from the moment they opened the door. Glenn's voice in my ear singing "Gonna take your daughter out tonight, gonna show her my world! Oh, motherrrrrr!"
It took all my strength to not sing it out loud, but I don't think they would've got the reference or thought it funny either way!
They let me take her after she took a few minutes to reassure them, but it was our first and last date! 😂🤘
Elvis and Jim Morrison’s love child
I so do agree with you
You can’t go wrong with Glenn Danzig’s vocals. One the most distinctive and hardest voices in rock/metal. I would recommend Going down to Die or How the Gods Kill next. 😎🤟🏼
Love this song
Fun story - I saw Glenn Danzig walking around at the 2004 San Diego Comic Con and he wore one of those Hello My Name Is stickers that said “Don’t f**k with me”
Check out the horror punk band the Misfits. Danzig founded them and sang on original lineup.
Glenn Danzig (vocals) is quite a character - assumed his "evil Elvis" persona when he formed the band Danzig in 1988... Prior to that, he was a punk rock legend fronting the iconic punk rock band The Misfits from 1977 to 1983... He formed his next band Samhain, but they were a short-lived gothic rock band... In 1988, Glenn met producer Rick Rubin who convinced him to disband Samhain and form a new heavy rock band Danzig w/ John Christ (guitar), Eerie Von (bass) and Chuck Biscuits (drums) ... and they signed to Rubin's American label.
Danzig's debut self-titled album was released in 1988 ... Although 'Mother' was a single in '88, it became a hit in 1993/ '94 after being remixed and taking off on MTV.
By that point, Danzig had already released 4 albums by 1994 - 'Danzig II: Lucifuge'... in 1990, 'Danzig III: How the gods kill' ... in 1992, and 'Danzig 4' in 1994... By '95, Glenn and Rubin had a falling out and Danzig left American Records... New band members came in by 1996 as Danzig released 'Blackacidevil'... and continued to record and tour.
In recent years, Glenn Danzig has scaled back Danzig's touring activities and also reunited w/ The Misfits to play occasional shows that have sold out due to the band's iconic legacy.
Other Danzig songs - 'Dirty black summer' ... 'Twist of Cain' ... 'She rides' ... 'How the gods kill' ... 🤘🤘
Blood and tears
My older brother introduced me to this music and it changed my life! What a powerful band!!
Glad to see you back to the heavier stuff. Many of these bands are so underrated. Keep going as we can feed you plenty more from this era and genre.
He was great in Samhain as well!!
ME too 😁
now you gotta do a deep dive into the misfits! each song is super short so you can review 2-3 at a time. lol. danzig era misfits are one of my favourites 🖤
Another great Danzig song is ''How the Gods Kill ''...actually Danzig has a ton of great songs....Glenn Danzig is the lead singer of The Misfits'', before he was a solo artist in the late 80's....also in between bands he formed ''Samhain'' briefly !!!!
Music has been my life since birth. My dad was in a band. In high school I embraced the Doors and the first time I heard this song I asked if this was a Doors song I’d never heard before. He closely mimics Jim Morrison in the first minute of this song. I think it’s intentional because I sense it isn’t natural, though I don’t mind it. I wouldn’t seek this song out to add to my playlist.
The album cover logo is legendary in the metal scene.
Brother... you found a good one! Enjoy seeing you enjoy!
This is my favorite Danzig song. Of the same era I suggest the Cult-Love removal machine.....or Living Colour's-Vivid album. Keep listening you're on the right track.❤
Rick Rubin produced and drums by powerhouse Chuck Biscuits.
wth, can't listen to danzig without the misfits, i say skulls or last caress, die die my darling was also one of my faves
Their album Lucifuge is definitely one of my top 10 favorites of all time. Every song is a banger on there. Great band!
Billy Idol. Great comparison.
Fonzie was a great thought. I always thought he had a similar appeal/swag; same with Elvis.
Billy Idol though is a spot on comparison in swag.
Funny you made comparison to Billy Idol , if you watched the official M/V , they both have the lip curl when the sing .
Saw them in concert
He's a bit of a polarizing artist. You'll have to give The Misfits a try.
It's a perfect song...IMO
This is another good one!!!
If only he wasnt such an impossible person to like. I remember seeing them when they wr touring with the rather unknown White Zombie back then. The room was turned upside down during WZ...and then Glenn got pissed bc he couldnt get the same energy from the audience. It was so bad that i sold everything i had from Danzin(including a drumstick) F him! White Zombie is def worth a listen/review( Welcome to the planet mf)
He sites Elvis, Jim Morrison, Roy Orbison, and Bill Medley as inspirations.
He's also written songs for Roy Orbison AND Johnny Cash. listen to Johnny Cash's Thirteen. Great song!
DUDE. If you liked this guy & Billy Idol, you NEED to see, The Cult, Firewomen. Its Billy & Danzig combined
Listen to The Misfits for the absolute best Glen Danzig experience. 🤘🤘🤘
There's some other great Danzig songs, but you should also definitely check out the Misfits if you dug this. It's his original band, and godfathers of the early 80s punk scene, and really showcases his voice (which is what I think you dug here)
that whole album is fire , she ride and twist of cain are two great one from the same album.
He is commonly referred to as "the elvilelm of Elvis
I think this was a great singer with a good band.
I would have never thought to compare him to Billy Idol. But you are 100% right on that. Its honestly all Elvis and Roy Orbison based. Chris Isaack is another id contribute to that sound.
If comic book Wolverine and Jim Morrison had a kid, it would be Danzig
Saw them open for Metallica back in the mid 90's. Glenn wrote a song called "Thirteen" (I believe was the name) that Johnny Cash did.
She Rides
Check out Dirty Black Summer…
Listen to the Danzig Mother “Lounge version” on UA-cam now 😅 you will never hear this song the same again haha. It’s a great reimagining of this track
Wanna hear a completely different vibe from Danzig, try Black Aria!
.Thanks.
I would recommend "Snakes of Christ"
Glenn Danzig is one third Jim Morrison,Roy Orbison, and Elvis.
Well said Polo 😂
Glen Danzig is by far my favorite vocalist of all time❤❤❤
Dirty Black Summer is a great track too.
