Installing STI Seats into a Legacy GT: Part 1 - The Easy One

- I'm starting to move some of these STI parts into my LGT and I'm starting off with the seats. Part 1 is the driver's seat. This seat is the easiest of them all and makes for a nice functional and cosmetic upgrade with 100% functionality and no airbag lights or issues! For reference, the STI seat is a 2011 and my car is a 2005.
I know this is more of a "how to..." video but it wouldn't hurt to mention weight savings (if any). If moving from a heavier OEM driver's and or passenger's seat vs STi seats. Otherwise, very thorough 👍

You should paint the head/roof lining black. Looks so much better than the stone grey colour. I did it to my 4th Gen Liberty (Legacy) and it just transforms the interior. New STI seat looks heaps good! How do you feel about loosing the electric function though? Stay safe from the heat and fires! As an Aussie I understand what that is like. Keen to continue seeing this build come along.
Ha thanks man and you're right I think painting the headliner will make a big difference. My biggest worry is taking it out without breaking any of it. What paint did you use for yours? As for the seat, I was also concerned about losing the electric feature because I liked the ability to change the tilt on the seat bottom but I think the tradeoff is worth it. I don't use this car as a long distance cruiser anymore so I don't need to adjust it as much and the extra bolstering makes up for it.
@@RPGarage It was a task to get the lining out of the sedan which had to be done through the front doors haha but your wagon will be an easier process. I used Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Paint Matt Black spray paint. Need about 4 or 5 cans though.
That sounds reasonable and like a fair tradeoff. If you no longer take it for long cruisers then theres not much need to be overly comfortable. Should you take it on a track day you'll love the grippier seats.

Did you ever do the rears? I'm about to attempt this swap curious if you know of any issues fitting rears
Hey! I just bought some 2014 STI seats... my question is.. does the OEM 14 sti seat bracket bolts directly into the legacy?
I have the same wagon also white with the same sti seats installed by previous owner. The seat belt chime and warmers don’t work and there are no airbag lights on. Do you have any ideas on how to hook up the seatbelt chime and heat warmers. I’m good with my hands but not good with electronics thanks. Ps I’m loving all the sti parts videos
Unbolt it and check what kind of connections have been made. Until you do that there's no way to know what you have to do.
How do you know which wires to solder... they aren't colour matched mine have 2 yellow wires not a yellow and a black or yellow with a black stripe?
Nice vid, I’m a little confused on which wire solders to which on the adapter cause I’m doing the same mod

They feel stickier and more bolstered. It will take a while to get them set just right though
