Well Update 8 is just around the corner so its no biggie (for us mortals, not Kibz if he just continues he will hit hte limit in a few weeks). Btw your world look absolutely crazy.
@@tmkongen I haven't noticed it stuttering. Though I do know that there are some people having this issue. Especially when porting a save to it from update 7.
There's something very delightful about spending dozens and dozens of hours making sure you are producing the MAXIMUM amount of controllers possible instead of just building them slightly less efficiently and then running into the game saying "Please. Stop abusing me."
@@MattyP-wu5lk One time I did delete a wrong power line in my nuclear plant and I did that because the power line that I disconnected just went to some iron plate constructer I had put down for whatever reason but nope, it was the sole connection between my breakers and plutonium facility so It was fun once I noticed that 2 hours later with 20,000 nuclear waste to deal with :) Luckily I found it quickly to start processing more waste then found some "volunteers" to take care of the rest of the waste for me.
I just finished my additional 100/stators per minute line to automate my final space elevator part. My calculations say it will take 32 more game hours for the items to finish. When kibitz is done, he could fill the final tier space elevator from scratch in probably 2 hours.
When I first heard about the max UObjects issue, I didn't know it was as simple as telling the engine to raise the limit and I was thinking of ways that Coffee Stain could optimize object usage. Now that I know you can just tell UE to raise the limit, I feel dumb. I thought it was a hard limit.
What's incredible is that your game....doesn't appear to be lagging at all. That's the whole point of object limits! Either you got a beefcake computer, Satisfactory is psychotically optimized, or both.
Side note from a developer who uses Unreal Engine. The UObject limit is not necessarily affected by what UObject actors are doing, but by mere presence of them. So starting up machines wouldn’t do anything (from the UObject limit at least) as long as you can place everything in the first place.
Kibz! If possible, could you please do a quick mini tutorial on how to add those lines? (in case one of us has a few screws loose and built an array of machines like you do >:D
You have all the shards to avoid object bloat, but this biome specifically you are avoiding the shards to have as much factory as possible. Then you run out of space and are sad, but still avoid the shards when you could cut the space use for some systems in half
Ya, I think that's gonna end up biting him more than once. He is either going to have to start exporting and doing the later assembly elsewhere, which he doesn't want to do, build up which he doesn't want to do, or just keep engulfing more of the terrain and spreading outward which he doesn't want to do... OR I guess the one thing that doesn't as directly clash with his idea, would be to start tearing down machines and overclocking the remnants to reclaim space, but unmaking the factory? I Imagine he REALLY doesn't want to do that lol.
I think he (mostly) did this on his last playthrough in season 3, he had a huge mega base in the dune desert and pretty much everything was built there.
So, did you get an achievement for that? 😄 So many possibilities for the name. "We didn't say you needed to use 2 Million objects." or "That wasn't meant as a challenge."
I think there needs to be some performance updates on Satisfactory so that it can run smoother even on modest PC builds. I had to stop playing my previous playthrough because my game lagged so badly, it became unplayable. I hope we can get some updates to smooth out the performance glitches by the time of the 1.0 release so that we can build the factories of our dreams and not have to worry about long save times or crashes anymore.
Its crazy, that you just find random wire belts all over the place, I could never do that ^^ Everything has to be organized and labled, I would plan, where I need the wire beforehand^^
I litter the world with signs at every end point and junction along a bus, to document all belts and pipes, before and after merges and splits and valves (if any).
moving wire by conveyor is super non-optimal. 1 copper ingot = 2 wire, iron wire is even worse. it's almost always better to create the wire on sight that to convey it. same for screws, even more for screws!
Hey ImKibitz, I am enjoying your chaotic building over the desert. I would love to see you try the Satisfactory plus mod at some point. I think the increased difficulty and new resources would challenge you to a new level. Enjoying the series
You see Kibitz, that's why you keep a notebook or a folder with sheets of paper in it, that have your designs. This is the only way I am able to go back to older factories and go "what were the numbers again, let me pull out my design sheet" Also, I still can't believe you keep hitting that limit, especially as I build some extensive stuff, but, never get these limits (all I can think is it's consolidated in "one" area)
22:35 BE CAREFUL when you manually expand the item limit. As you add more items to the game, you're asking your system to do more math and display more textures and animations and such... so your system WILL slow down and you WILL experience lag. Depending on how "potato-like" your PC is, will determine if you get 30fps or 0.3fps after that. And let me tell you, sir, that 0.3fps situation is not how you want to spend your day.
This is very true and a good call out! It will push more and more rubbing things harder and harder. They have immensely optimized the game so it can handle a ton more than the UObject limit (hardware depending of course). :) even at 14 million UObjects, my pc doesn't get hot but the engine lags the game to 30fps. I've just bogged the engine down enough it can't send enough to my pc for it to even run hard. Except ram, that hovers around 55gb.
Satisfactory is always fun in the mid game, but as you pass it and get to phase 4, the scope creep and planning required makes my disorganised mind just give up. I want to finish a playthrough one day but it's just so much work making train lines and good logistics. Pain.
I feel the exact same way. I get to a certain point, then give up. Last time I got to making aluminum, having each item being built near their resources (modular?). My train system was a mess of spaghetti. I started that save in the rocky desert. In the dune desert I stopped after making computers. In Update 8exp, I built a central hub with a circular main bus system. It's just too much @#!? work.....
the efficiency checker mod would've been your friend counting up that wire. not for the belt/pipe mounted checkers (they always caused me performance issues & leave production-halting gaps in your pipes & belts if you have to load without the mod), but the handheld tool would tell you exactly how much you're injecting into a belt instantly. it has its limitations (gets confused by load balancers & complex splits & merges) but works perfect in most situations & is a huge time & sanity saver ✌😎
As far as I'm aware, having moved to UE5 (which can handle a S***LOAD more Uobjects than UE4) in Satisfactory 0.8.x AND spent an exceptional amount of effort to simplify the standard buildings in terms of the required Uobjects per.... Think we're all going to be close to OK on Uobject limits once 0.8.x comes out on Early Access, not Experimental. But we'll all find a way to push it again soon... 🤦♂
