Thanks, i wanted to make an updated one now that 1.0 came out. it feels like we have so many more new people or people who just got back into the game playing. its very nice.
In my first playthrough of 1.0, i started in grassy fields and worked my way up the left side of the map. I actually built a massive nuclear power plant on the river between the rocky desert and northern forest and had MOST everything i needed within close proximity. The only 2 i had to bring from a distance was bauxite and nitrogen, which i didn't need until the plutonium part of it. That save was me just trying to beat the game, so it was messy. I started over in a new spot, and i chose the dune desert as i had never tried that area before, and I'm absolutely loving it so far.
congrats Xaos. You swayed me. I will start my achievement run over and begin in the swampy craphole near area 4. I'll even start at Tier 0. I can't make a series of it unfortunately but just know that at least 1 person is doing it because of you (also, it will allow Satisfactory to give me the Helldivers 2 experience of landing in something else's home and getting rocked by it over and over)
I’ve been watching people play this game since like 2019 or 2020. FINALLY bought a really nice gaming PC from a buddy of mine who built it. Bought 1.0 on release day and already have about 100 hours logged. Just finished building a 51 turbo fuel generator plant on the Blue Crater Lake last night.
20:40 Serisaki here on youtube has got you covered! He did an update 8 playthrough called Swamptopia where the Pioneer wasn't allowed to leave the Swamp. It was actually quite good I think.
I've found that the small lake in the titan forest on the East side of the map is a great spot to start. It's a lot more challenging than any other spot I've tried as you'll have to compete with a few members of the local community (hogs, spiders and a few spitters) but the area Is beautiful and you have access to plenty of iron copper limestone, coal, and even some early caterium. You can then branch down south for extra power, I've used it for a mega steel factory tho hanging off the side of the map. Good luck pioneers. You got this
The coal in the northern forest is really close. It looks far but you can walk over in two minutes. I love this spot because it looks pretty, you have space but can build close, everything is around, pure Sam is in the north and the best there are doggos everywhere which is amazing early game.
18:00 Yeah the spire coast has been my favorite place the build a main/mega base since it got renovated. Especially now that you can remove all those pesky coral trees and have better access to basic resources. I just love the view there even if its maybe not the most efficient location.
I think the crater lakes are a great starter location. It’s a little uneven but you have some pure iron and copper and limestone needs. Caterium is near, and up the waterfall is the coal and SAM. There are also 2 geysers for mid game power. On the far side is some sulfer. It’s a nice little area that is often overlooked to start with.
The biggest issues with some of these, is access to water and oil. There is iron/copper/limestone everywhere. But when you get going you need water and oil.
It is way worse to start on a place with not enough iron/copper/limestone because u will take way longer to reach a state where u can just travel to water and oil
I agree, water and oil are worse if only because you have to package them or use towers. Packaging has its own set of headaches too if you're trying for perfect throughput in your builds, on top of the regular pipe liquid jank. If you want to set up train lines for literally every other material in the game, you can pretty easily. Once you get into a groove of how to place tons of train stations lined up, it's not a big deal to transport tons of items across the map to anywhere you want. And that's before drones.
For efficiency alone i think the very best place possible is the cratered lakes near the very center of the map. Only really close things are SAM and Coal, but being the very center of the map makes a wheel and spokes huge mega factory layout not only efficient but very cool to contemplate later. Literally make the production for every single thing be concentrated there with everything coming from every which way... will look like the matrix machine city by the end. so cool.
Can confirm the first coal location. I have 64 dirt burners out there and it's keeping me going while I prep for my first fuel generator farm over by the blue crater. (For as much as I've played, I've only just now started playing with oil.)
I used the coal spot in the Rocky Desert for my first coal power plant. Awesome factory spot. Also the great thing about blue crater is it can easily be converted to rocket fuel.
That power spot #2 is a great spot. In the back of that cove is a cave with 2 quartz nodes and the SAM node. Taking the path between the 2 impure coals leads to a great spot for a steel factory. It's not a starting spot, but it's one of the better places to build.
Great video, thanks for posting. You missed another great turbofuel location, though, in the swamp right between Lake Forest and Titan Forest. There are 2 normal and 1 pure crude oil nodes plus 2 normal coal and 1 normal sulfur very close by. There's also the entire lake to build on top of so plenty of space.
I think I started a new base not far from the last spot you mentioned but did not recommend. So far, I have had access to everything Ive needed up to Phase4 without going awfully far for them. My focus was on oil and coal power with the ability to utilize Uranium as well once I get to that point. Coords are 125, -230 (also close to center of the map, one of my, for lack of better, things lol) In MC I am always looking to setup base at 0,0
I play with 1 other person; In our pre-1.0 and post-1.0 saves, we've started in the dune desert both times, and we collectively cringe when we have to go into the swamp to start aluminum. That being said, I was able to make a pretty good looking brutalist-style factory that fits the area.
I agree with everything except the Rocky Desert starting point. I think that lake below the waterfall is perfect. You can easily make Truck routes up to the coal and to quartz through the tunnel. If you build on the West coast, how do you prefer to route your way around the map?
I just made a turbofuel plant in the spire coast and the best place to get coal is the 4 normal nodes to the southwest (just east of the rocky desert) and there's 2 pure nodes of sulfur to the northeast. I made a conveyor hus for the coal but the sulfur is far enough you'll want a train. 1 train with 2 cars was enough to bring the 960 I needed (both nodes at 200%)
personally im not a fan of combat so started my 1.0 with passive and trecked from the start to the Titan forest and to the lake at the north end of it... theres a small passage to it on the north section of it. theres 3 pure copper nodes and 1 pure liimestone node around the lake and straight east theres 2 pure iron nodes. theres is a shit ton of mycelia so you can about instantly make yourself a parachute to use as a shortcut towards different places from there and when you need coal power you just jump down north and you got 3 pures and 1 normal node of coal. also from the spot towards the east and bit north theres 2 normal and 1 pure node of both caterium and quarts. if you go west from the spot you can go between gas areas directly past a normal sulfur node to the lake forest for some oil or alternatively directly north to the desert canyon oil and in both cases you got couple close by geysers to suplement your power production. bauxite is the biggest problem since you either need to make a bridge across the tree tops of the titan forest to the 4 nodes at the other end of the forest or up from the lake forest oil setup to the red forest ones or the swamp area.... also the swamp areas uranium is close by... also almost forgot the nearest SAM is directly north but the entrance to the cave is on the north side of the thing its under so its really close but needs some belting if you need some come to you.... and regarding all the spots you showed i would personally say the first spot on northern forest is the best since you can supplement yourself with plenty of nearby geysers and the relatively close by coal and oil.... but mainly because you can actually go up to the lake forest part after you are done with your started base and just tear away all the machines and belt the stuff there and use all the water available for refinery use to increase the amount of resources you have... you just need to belt in quartz from a quite a distance...
honest the best part of the community is the freedom to build where you want to and the fact is everybody's base is all over the place, no one location is always used over the other.
For uranium power the east dune forest (just to the southwest of the swamp, next to the red forest) is way better. -The lake gives you enough water for 40 reactors plus production -Critical ressources are closer. Nitrogen first amongst them, but also SAM and a normal uranium node. -there is actually enough oil, the swamp well is only 450.
I used to say "Game doesn't start until Mk 3 and Smart Splitters". Now I say "Game starts when you get Trains" then you can build anything anywhere. Only thing I disagree with is Rocky Starting Base Spot. I prefer (-160, -40). Close to Bauxite, Caterium. Close to Crater Lake for Coal Power, SAM. Western Islands aren't too far for Oil. Quartz and Sulfur through the cave (Plus more Coal). Can run a N-S Train Line all the way to the Nitrogen in Dangle Spire and have everything except Uranium.
@@DrawingXaos I use those Normal Iron Nodes for Stator/Rotor/Motor, Modular/Heavy Modular Frames Factories Once I have Pure Iron and Wet Concrete Alts.
I wouldn't recommend any location with pure nodes as a starting base. Even if you're rushing it takes a while to get those mk.2 belts to fully utilize the nodes output, at which point you'd have to tear down and revamp the whole thing, or build it with scalability in mind in the first place (which works for more experienced players). They make great mid-game bases, but for the early game I'd just stick to any place that has a good concentration of normal quality nodes.
makes sense, but it also gives people a safe place to start where they can expand a bit and not feel like they have to move once they unlocked coal or oil.
11:17 That nitro well is better utilized to upgrade your fuel plant from turbo to rocket. Use a different nitro well for battery production. That 1500m3 nitro is so close to the blue lake, it would be a waste not to put it into rocket fuel.
If you want to take full advantage of the swamp do a regular game settings run building there but require that you do not kill the agressive animals. Given that we can trap animals with buildings, this is viable, a true challenge, and further more, preserves the idea of the swamp still being deadly unless you know the safe routes around your base
I'm waìting for the Storage Teleporters and Refined Power mods to be fixed to work with 1.0. The first one trivializes moving products across the map and the second gives you more options for power generation.
Okay let me give you a run down on the regions on Fuel/Turbo fuel/Rocket Fuel. There are roughly like 3 main regions where you can get oil in mass quantities, Spire Coast, Islands, and Blue Crater Lake. Now the downside with some areas you go to with making oil refinery zones is that you usually get restricted where you are and what you can find there, best option to make a end of Fuel Power zone for like Rocket Fuel would be in Blue Crater since it thas literally everything you need. Only tradeoff between the two areas Spire Coast and Blue Crater is that one has more oil than the other and you can tap into nodes much easier at Blue Crater compared to Spire coast with a very limited zone of sulfur. (I'm not saying don't build in Spire coast, but it has it's limitations.)
Adding to my statement... Nuclear power is a hassle, not to mention the fact you need a TON of Nitrogen to even recycle the waste (if you want to do that). Honestly there are so many ways to go about it that it's arguably better for whatever scenario, the Swamp is usually the best place because it's desolated and has most things you will ever need for making a Nuclear power plant and whatever to recycle said waste. Only downside I would say is that it's not going to look so pretty dragging a NItrogen node across the map or even throwing it onto a train; adding on the fact that most things Uranium based are a hassle depending on what you're doing because of radiation.
yeah, the blue crater lake is great for turbo and rocket fuel, really the best place on the map. Though once you get trains or even drones you could get the items you need for rocket fuel to the spire coast or the gold coast and do it there. but for ease blue crater is the way to go.
Swamp is not recommended for starting base because enemy is too strong. Dune desert waterfall is highly recommended. Open space, no spicy enemy, caterium and oil is nearby and even uranium on top of the mountain. one downside is low purity coal but there is 2 pure coal nodes easily transported by tractor.
Great video ! Anyone has an idea where is the best post to do aluminium ? i can't choose a great one with the requirements of bauxite, coal and copper.
I wouldn't say you need either. Just bring in the ore until you finished all the research to get alt. recipes. I then rebuild and I only need a bit of oil for coke and ship the pure aluminium ingot to the main base, since you need not only alclad sheets but pure ingots too. I dont wanna build big, when I then need to rebuild with new recipes, so I rush alot with quick and dirty builds
@@DrawingXaos I don't see why it would. It is a switch. r.Color.Grading 0 turns off the gloom. 1 turns it back on. It will turn off the gloom everywhere CS decided to add a color filter. You can also turn the fog on and off with r.Fog 0 or 1.
There is a better spot in the northern forest. Just east of your first location. Go east till the pond with coal and just barely se from there up on the mountain there is a pond woth good iron and copper and limestone near bye. There is also oil coal and quartz jist a little further as u expand and caterium right there. Is a great spot check it.
I didnt choose any of these. 😂 im building about middle of the map in the border of lake forrest and red bamboo fields. There is enough oil in there and it also have oil resource well near. I did start below the arch in northern forrest but i deleted all the thing from there. 😊
@@MartinTB6 Half the fun IS figuring it out yourself. Couple of tips: - Use a planner like Satisfactory Planner or Satisfactory Tools to plan the production lines. OR - Start with the end product and work backwards to raw resources. - Have an area with just the production buildings (constructor, assembler, etc. They don't need to be powered or hooked up) so you can easily check what (alt-)recipes require.
i could but it does take the fun out of it. if you just follow what i say it takes make makes you out of the game. The best part of the game is figuring out what type of base or game you want to play.
Why wouldn't you then just make a floating base in that swamp area with every single resource, lmao, seems like a no brainer to me! Going to do this next time I load up the game, thanks!

also from the spot towards the east and bit north theres 2 normal and 1 pure node of both caterium and quarts.
if you go west from the spot you can go between gas areas directly past a normal sulfur node to the lake forest for some oil or alternatively directly north to the desert canyon oil and in both cases you got couple close by geysers to suplement your power production.

also almost forgot the nearest SAM is directly north but the entrance to the cave is on the north side of the thing its under so its really close but needs some belting if you need some come to you....

You can also turn the fog on and off with r.Fog 0 or 1.
@@tehNashty now that is cool. I need to try it.
There is a better spot in the northern forest. Just east of your first location. Go east till the pond with coal and just barely se from there up on the mountain there is a pond woth good iron and copper and limestone near bye. There is also oil coal and quartz jist a little further as u expand and caterium right there. Is a great spot check it.
ill check it out.
綜合看 白石沙漠大湖泊那還有北方森林湖邊是最適合居住的 基礎礦脈一堆而且有石油有鈾有鋁
That is a nice spot as well.
You should with nothing but red lights in black and white would be awesome
lol nice.
I didnt choose any of these. 😂 im building about middle of the map in the border of lake forrest and red bamboo fields. There is enough oil in there and it also have oil resource well near. I did start below the arch in northern forrest but i deleted all the thing from there. 😊
Nice.
Blue crater lake has nitrogen too so you can go all the way up to rocket fuel
that is so true. it really is a great fuel spot. the best really.
Would you make a video on how to play this game? Like how do we automate phase 2. I wanna play but feel so overwhelmed.
Or maybe the fun of the game is figuring it out yourself.. 🤔
@@MartinTB6 Half the fun IS figuring it out yourself.
Couple of tips:
- Use a planner like Satisfactory Planner or Satisfactory Tools to plan the production lines. OR
- Start with the end product and work backwards to raw resources.
- Have an area with just the production buildings (constructor, assembler, etc. They don't need to be powered or hooked up) so you can easily check what (alt-)recipes require.
i could but it does take the fun out of it. if you just follow what i say it takes make makes you out of the game. The best part of the game is figuring out what type of base or game you want to play.
in my current save I started at coal spot #1
Nice, its a great spot and used by a lot.
Also there is a guy already doing the swamp only challenge.
cool, i need to look it up.
@@DrawingXaos But I would watch every secoond of ur Swamp challenge. EVERY SECOND OF IT.
@@BabyJeus lol it does sound like fun
No matter where i build, i always get spaghetti! lol
Lol the way ficsit intended
like for suggesting swamp for starter
lol thanks, its a very underrated start, but only for the best of the best.
Why wouldn't you then just make a floating base in that swamp area with every single resource, lmao, seems like a no brainer to me! Going to do this next time I load up the game, thanks!
yeah but there is a bit of fun treating it as if it was real.
Another youtuber did a swamp only challenge run in update 8. It was AMAZING! Look up Swamptopia by serisak if y'all are curious. And yes, Xaos I would love to see you do a swamp run. :D
i need to check it out.
I just want to build a megabase now 😭 (im in oil phase)
same really
DO IT!
Lol
The devs removed my awesome sink quartz nodes😭😭
dang, that sucks. i know there is 3 nodes in the cave near it but that is full of spook'ems.
4915 Makayla Mountain
