The tar pits are fascinating to me. Just the sheer amount of ice age, and before , fossils is mind-blowing. Incidentally, only one human skeleton has been found in the pits, a woman that dated to be 10 thousand years old. The time travel store was interesting, but I was disappointed the TARDIS didn't show up.
10,000 year old human if you believe that evolution garbage. I’m a bible believing Christian and the earth is about 7,000 years old. The Flood of Noah was about 4500 years ago. So that human could have been pre flood or post flood time period
We used to go to the tar pits quite often when I was a kid. (And the museum next door.) They had open pits where we could watch them working archaeological digs!
Ever see the movie "Volcano"? The volcano comes out of the La Brea tar pits. Anyway, in the late 90's, when air quality in L.A. was getting a lot of air play, a co-worker said: "The reason they have so much air pollution in Los Angeles is because they have a volcano." I was thunderstruck. First, my mouth dropped open, then I just walked away (he was serious, not joking).
I absolutely believe that! I grew up in Orange County and met my wife online. So I moved to the state she grew up in to be closer to her. (It was in the Midwest) While at work one day, I heard someone say in the break room "I like California because there's no flies or mosquitoes, because they can't get over the mountains" I literally couldn't believe what I had just heard! Needless to say, I finally talked my wifeninto moving back home to California with me.
I lived in Echo Park until age 13 and visited the Tar Pits several times. They terrified me! The mammoth struggling in the tar while the mate and baby stood helplessly on the shore made me sob the first time I saw it. I now live in Chicago and enjoy watching videos of SoCal especially Disneyland which is how I landed on this one. Thanks for the interesting post!
I went to the tar pits just a few months ago! Had a great time! From what I understand, the bones there aren't actually fossilized- usually, minerals seep into the bones and turn them into rock. But here, the tar seeps in and basically preserves the bones, meaning that instead of bones turning to rock it's bones full of tar as if they died just a few days ago. Super interesting!
I live close by. Its a great place to visit. Especially in the park, you will see fences around where tars is coming up through the grass and soil. When I studied architectural history, buildings along Wilshire Boulevard, nearby the Tarpits, used to have tar that would seep into basements and lower floors. Eventually, it seems newer, modern designs this is no longer a problem, but interesting history. Thank you for sharing.
Visited the area several times. Always fascinated since a kid with the tar pits but somehow never made it on my visits. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you made it to the tar pits there's so many museums and fun places to visit in LA if you get the chance grab a bite to eat at bobs big boy , dupars , Mel's drive in , pinks hotdogs and Randy's donuts but make sure to hit up the original spots !!! Have fun kids !!!
So good to see the Time Travel Mart! The parent organization, 826 National, has a bunch of themed stores across the country to support their local tutoring centers. The one in Michigan is a robot store, the one in DC has a magic shop... and the Brooklyn one is a superhero supply store. I think the Time Travel Mart is probably the most themed one, but all the locations do great work with kids. I don't think I'd be who I am today without their help!
Thank you for taking me along with you and Jenn Very Interesting Displays I like when there's more information available about the exhibit your seeing. The new Pin for your hat is a perfect fit for the spot! I loved the squirrel at the end ! Safe Travels
Thank you, Jacob! I’ve been looking forward to your Tar Pit episode and it came on today. I really enjoy it very much! Love to seeJenny Penny go with you!
I’m an Alumnus of 826 Valencia, the original San Francisco location of the same organization that runs Time Travel Mart. 826 Valencia has a pirate themed store. In that same neighborhood is a really cool store with taxidermy and other nature related specialties like orchids and mushrooms
While you're in SoCal San Bernardino and Riverside both have nice museums. SB County Museum is pretty cool and Riverside has museums around the Mission Inn which in itself is a neat place to explore.
The old man who came up to you when you were at the ground sloth is the same old man who talked for ages to my husband when we visited there! Another thing we noticed was that there were hummingbirds right at the edge of the lake, I don't know what attracted them but they kept hovering around there.
Hi Jacob and Jenn LOVE you both great vlog loving the back to the past fast foward kind of store.... It may come in handy in the past present.....!!!!!!! WHAT. Anyway... Great times enjoying all your fun and amazing attractions this is a really great trip..... Enjoy stay safe.... Your Friend Fan and Follower..... M XXXX
Love your travels with Jenn her laugh is so contagious, your such an adorable couple, loved the Time Travel Mart, the Labra Tar pits have always fascinated me thanks for the great vlog, be safe Jacob and Jenn🥰🐾🤗love Jenn’s glasses so cat like, a must have🐈⬛🐾The saber tooth cat is so cool, I want one lol
Hi I just recently subscribed to you love your videos and I’m glad your in California right now! I live out here in Southern California and if your still out here for a while I really recommend the movie museum across from the car museum in LA the movie museums has four levels and has real movie props and costumes and showcases so much history it’s really cool definitely recommend!!
Thanks for taking us to La Brea Tar Pits. I haven't been there since I was a young adult. I believe I took my son there when he was small. Don't know why I never went back. But thanks for bringing back memories. Glad you and Jen had such a good time
Great video! Glad you went there as I probably won't so it was fun to see. Jacob! You're droppin the ball here, what happened to Rosebub when you shook the snow globe🤔 Also love when Jen is along for the trip. She's so sweet & funny. Be safe on your journey.
I remembering reading about the La Brea tar pits in a book back in the early 80s. Always wanted to see it in person, but so far haven't been there. Thanks for making this video, and that time machine place you also showed was really neat as well!
Hey Jacob, recently subscribed to your channel and i'm loving your content especially your Route 66 series. Have you visited the California Science center? Pretty cool place, the space shuttle Endeavour has its own pavilion there.
Tar pits make me so sad because of all the lives they've claimed and that display with the mammoths didn't help. Lol I do like the bubbling noise they make though.
Wondering if you could stop by and see Sid and Marty Krofft office? They have a bunch of show memorabilia there. Not sure what’s the address, but I think it’s in studio city or LA?
The foam you see they put it on when they find the fossil and because the fossil is usually in the middle of nowhere they put foam around it and they usually attach it to a hood of a car with plenty of rope around it!
Many years ago into the future I enjoyed every episode the carpet bagger posted. Beware of the Otters and robot turkeys.

One thing I learned about LA is that it’s the pits! 😮
I worked next door at the LA County Museum of Art. Guests would ask if we were re-doing the roof because of the smell from the Tar Pits!
We used to go to the tar pits quite often when I was a kid. (And the museum next door.) They had open pits where we could watch them working archaeological digs!
The LA Brea Tar Pits was my first job I had when I was 18 aww memories,
Walmart was my first job when I was 18 away memories
Oh! Thank you for filling in that empty spot on your hat with a new button, I noticed and am now relieved. Best wishes, Ms. OCD. 🤗

oh! The excavation site was closed when I went! We could just barely peek through the gate! Neat!
Hey Jenny, glad to see you.
I was eating some chicken noodle soup when you started showing that fake poop, and I literally could not take another bite. Thanks Jacob.
Chicken noodles soup yuk I couldn't eat that
This La Brea Museum was fascinating! I added to my bucket list for whenever I get to visit CA

Oh Jacob, I am so pleased you went here! We used to take school failed trips every year. What memories I have not been here in 20 or so years!
Our school trips were failures too! 😅

Love that you're in my little home area! I haven't even seen some of these palces, so thank you for giving me new places to explore in my area!
Another great video Jacob can't wait for the next one 🕐
While you're in SoCal San Bernardino and Riverside both have nice museums. SB County Museum is pretty cool and Riverside has museums around the Mission Inn which in itself is a neat place to explore.
In the Simpsons episode Bart had an elephant and donated to a local animal shelter and the family visited him but homer gets trapped in the tarpits

Since you’re in LA I feel like you should do a collab with the GIV just like Adam did
Great idea but I was wondering if GIV was back from Germany yet also.
@kelleyrahmah8860 yeah I just saw he is..

You two are awesome and funny at times
Thank you for describing things it is very helpful
Thank you for what you do
Hi Jenny Penny and Jacob 👋
Tar pits make me so sad because of all the lives they've claimed and that display with the mammoths didn't help. Lol I do like the bubbling noise they make though.
That Lucha mask belongs to Blue Demon, one of the greatest wrestlers next to El Santo! His movies are on Tubi & UA-cam.
Wondering if you could stop by and see Sid and Marty Krofft office? They have a bunch of show memorabilia there. Not sure what’s the address, but I think it’s in studio city or LA?
that time travel shop is so clever
Surprisingly the eggs we eat are very expensive
Bird flu
The foam you see they put it on when they find the fossil and because the fossil is usually in the middle of nowhere they put foam around it and they usually attach it to a hood of a car with plenty of rope around it!
WHILE YOU ARE IN THE AREA, I recommend stopping by Newport Beach (south of LA) and visiting BUNNYHENGE!
Great choice
11:19 I'm more fascinated by the fact that someone decided to use a Volkswagen Beetle to haul something.
that was an interesting spot to vlog, did you buy a new tshirt to replace your old one ?
"Encino man" filmed it's Museum scene there but changed the look of the main entrance.
The tar pit was used in the 1997 film volcano ❤
Thanks for the video…I always wanted to visit here.
Elephant/ mammoths/ mastodon/

Appreciate you sharing this fascinating location😻💕
flashbacks of the my girl movie with the tar pits lol
So enjoyable with both of you exploring!🌻🌷
I haven't been to the Tar Pits since I was 11, I'm hoping to take my kids in April..
Seeing that little P-22 puppet made me sad though
Love this place. You didn't show the horses that were found in the pits.
La Brea means “the Tar” in Spanish. When you say “the la brea tar pits “. You are saying “the the tar tar pits”
31:35 this is one of my phobias raining fish, rather have it rain tacos than fish!
I’m pooped out after this vlog. Interesting California history
Enjoyed replay thanks 😊
Awh noooo what a shame the animatronics didn’t work at the museum 😢 I love thoes types of moving exhibits
Happy trails, my friend
Also universal studios is fun too !!
I hope you find another pin like that for your hat that went missing.
If you get to Long Beach I hope you can check out the Queen Mary .
I loved the flesh pronghorn.
Great video. At 23:46. Where’s the rest of Zeds remains?“Where’s Zed? Zeds dead baby”. Pulp Fiction!
Awesome museum!!!
I actually know 1st hand what it's like to be stuck in tar, I got stuck in a small tar pit when I was a kid.
La Brea Tar Pits were interesting. Enjoyed this video.
Always enjoy your videos.
I hope you find your Mold-A-Rama pin.
I like the new pin very cool! I want one lol
is it me or is the mammoth in the tar pit.. moving its head?!
No it's you
When will we be able to see a carpetbagger episode in Hawaii or Alaska
