The Soft Parade

One of the most talented rock bands ever
this is the strangest life
I've ever known...
My late brother turned me on to Doors, Cream, Hendrix, The Mothers , Chico Hamilton in that order ,in the span of two years. That is the gold standard ,for me personally.Every once & while I hear a riff , or excellent bridge from a trending act,but I always gravitate to this core of artists. But, instead of burn out- hear new things.
Just a supernatural quartet...a magical meeting of 4 perfectly aligned talents.
word
All they needed was full rhythm
@@MrKevinMills he probably can't calm down in his grave because of the rhythm
You nailed it - take away any 1 of the 4 members and you no longer have the magic of The Doors. Sad that I sometimes think they don't get the respect they deserve.

I’m 66 years young , the doors are my favourite band
I'm 37 and my brother is 40 and we both share this same band as our favorite as well! Rock on! ❤️
My favorite band as well 👍
I'm such a Doors® fan that sometimes I have a Doors® day where I listen to nothing but Doors®. Some days I have Stones® days
Right on ! I'm 57 and yes, The Doors.
44 here and the same 👍✌️❤️
Great Jim your voice never died ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you only knew ......
My father moved us to Cold Bay, Alaska, in 1968, to get away from the horrible influences of Woodstock, my first love: Jim Morrison and his tight leather pants, and Rock n' Roll. Thankfully that only lasted a year, then right back to my beautiful California~🤩🌻🍄💖
Always been my favorite band, don't think that will ever change.

These guys were a Force of Nature.
May The Force be with you.
Every album was great, few bands can say that.
Not for anything, not comparing anything, but I do love blue Oyster cult, a live album featured Robbie.
Soft Parade wasn't though (except the original song)
If you had made one album as good as this....
...maybe you have?
@@rustemzholdybalin6210
Denser than the Stones or the Beatles at that time.
@@rustemzholdybalin6210 Disagree. It was great, too.
I'm also 66 yrs old and the music is still as fresh & open for interpretation as it was now in those seemingly far off days of our youth. Each member I still feel played an intricate part of the band.
Ray was a genius,oh it would be so captivating if he were here today to tell the story of the music etc.
I still find a certain haunting yearning unexplainable feeling while listening to Light my fire and Unknown Soldier?
In 1970 my late father drove us to Washington DC where I saw the tomb of the unknown soldier & so much more.

Excellent compilation of the album original album tracks and out takes. It’s wonderful to get a glimpse into the creativity of the doors. It’s so sad Jim didn’t return from Paris. Riders on the storm set the tone for 70’s rock music before anyone else new what it was. Oh the songs we missed. Jim loved Paris! He said it was a city created for human beings. He loved roaming about the city. I would love to be there now walking with Jim.
Soft Parade still blows me away! Way ahead of it's time.
I don't think you want to be wandering around in that chaos now.
@@Smokey_da_Bear I was thinking about Paris when Jim Morrison was living there and how wonderful that might have been. Just wishful thinking. Thanks to the 20 years of war our government spent trillions of our taxpayer’s dollars destabilizing that part of the world so badly it caused a mass migration of refugees into Europe that has created a severe culture clash of ideology to the point that the refugees want to change France’s laws and culture that has a strong separation of church and state ideology where religious attire is not allowed in Government Buildings because religious imagery is not allowed
This video is perfection. From the blond lady inexplicably appearing in the foreground at the beginning before suddenly ducking out of the frame, to the out of time lip syncing, to the seemingly unimpressed crowd looking on...do NOT change a thing!

Seeing Jim's Pam in the video reminds me of a story my ex brother in law told me. Darryl had apparently been Pam's high school sweetheart before she met Jim Morrison, who according to Darryl basically took her from him. Broke Darryl's heart, so he married my sister... Pam! 8^D

I will ALWAYS love The Doors ! Their music made those great years in my life so much more colorful and creative. In my home growing up in Connecticut, their albums got as much turntable time as The Beatles did, and that says a lot.

Always been a doors fan. Never heard this version of the Lizard King. So great! I think I remember the record label wouldn’t make this version for sale, so they included it in a shortened version. Very sad the band felt they couldn’t do what they wanted. Of course now what does it matter. Jim could have done anything he wanted, but I don’t think he truly believed it. RIP Jim. Great, fantastic album!!! That`s MUSIC!!!
This is my favorite Doors album. Beautiful.
Yes, only good songs on this one, a masterpiece.
...the perfect musical collaboration - the band name was taken from Huxley's Doors of Perception - for those of us who lived that era it was a gigantic flowering of all the arts, with Jim Morrison's dark vision both cautionary and prophetic...
Yes. One of the "band of 25s". Not an exact age, but embracing Hendrix, Joplin, Otis Redding and too many others. Morrison blends melancholy, romance, pain, searching, a tribute to the "Unknown Soldier", the list abounds. Most of the greatest - all art forms combined - have through time immemorial touched our souls and hearts not only because of their talent, but because they are either tortured and /or can identify easily with those who are.
@@cliveskinner7036 And that was the key: a turbulent time I also came of age in, and it was quite astonishing at the time: the music that was coming from every corner, challenging boundaries, expanding musical vocabularies, blowing minds,... the list of effects music had are countless and the ripples, I think, are still reverberating down to this day.. and the doors were RIGHT THERE--the tip of the spear, along with so many others, Floyd, Beatles, Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Hendrix, so many there to carry the banner. Jesus, what a time to have lived through! Gratitude, and Wonder..💫
PS: the seeds they sowed even prompted me to pick up a guitar and start experimenting, years later
Bring back the good old days of the 60s & the 70s.
Thank you 😊

Such an amazing and profound album... The Doors at their peak...Loved their stuff since the 70's but; there are compilations of their albums on here; hearing their entire studio recordings in sequence is a journey through the psychedelic era, smoky blacklight lit rooms and albums like this over and over and over...

HELLO I LOVE YOU
Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game
She's walking down the street
Blind to every eye she meets
Do you think you'll be the guy
To make the queen of the angels sigh?
Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game
She holds her head so high, like a statue in the sky
Her arms are wicked, and her legs are long
When she moves my brain screams out this song
Sidewalk crouches at her feet
Like a dog that begs for something sweet
Do you hope to make her see, you fool?
Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel?
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello
I want you, hello, I need my baby
Hello, hello, hello, hello

C'mon baby run with me

Run with me
Run with me
Let's run
The mansion is warm, at the top of the hill
Rich are the rooms and the comforts there
Red are the arms of luxuriant chairs
And you won't know a thing 'till you get inside

The engine runs on glue and tar
Come on along, not goin' very far
To the East to meet the Czar
Run with me
Run with me
Run with me
Let's run

We should be inside the evenin'
Sun, sun, sun
Burn, burn, burn
Soon, soon, soon
Moon, moon, moon
I will get you
Soon, soon, soon!

Fallen in love, I'm hopin' to be
Wind is so cold, is that the reason?
Keeping you warm, your hands touching me

Comin' from northern storms in the sea
Love has been lost, is that the reason?
Trying desperately to be free

Make a grave for the unknown soldier
Nestled in your hollow shoulder

MY WILD LOVE
My wild love went ridin'
She rode all the day
She wrote to the devil
And asked him to pay
The devil was wiser
It's time to repent
He asked her to give back
The money she spent
My wild love went ridin'

She gathered together
Some shells for her head
She rode and she rode on
She rode for a while
Then stopped for an evenin'
And lay her head down
She rode on to Christmas
She rode to the farm
She rode to Japan
And we entered a town
By this time the river
Had changed one degree
She asked for the people
To let her go free
My wild love is crazy
She screams like a bird
She moans like a cat
When she wants to be heard
My wild love went ridin'
She rode for an hour
She rode and she rested
And then she rode on
Ride, come on

WE COULD BE SO GOOD TOGETHER
We could be so good together
Yeah, so good together
We could be so good together
Yeah, we could, I know we could
Tell you lies
I tell you wicked lies
Tell you lies
Tell you wicked lies
Tell you 'bout the world that we'll invent
Wanton world without lament
Enterprise, expedition
Invitation and invention
Yeah, so good together
Ah, so good together
We could be so good together
Yeah, we could, know we could
Alright!
We could be so good together
Yeah, so good together
We could be so good together
Ya, we could, know we could
Tell you lies
Tell you wicked lies
Tell you lies
Tell you wicked lies
The time you wait subtracts the joy
Beheads the angels you destroy
Angels fight, angels cry
Angels dance and angels die
Yeah, so good together
Ah, but so good together
We could be so good together
Yeah, we could, know we could

YES, THE RIVER KNOWS
Please believe me
The river told me
Very softly
Want you to hold me, oh
Free fall flow, river flow
On and on it goes
Breath under water 'til the end
Free fall flow, river flow
On and on it goes
Breath under water 'til the end
Yes, the river knows
Please believe me
If you don't need me
I'm going, but I need a little time
I promised I would drown myself in masticated wine
Please believe me
The river told me
Very softly
Want you to hold me, oh
I'm going, but I need a little time
I promised I would drown myself in masticated wine
Free fall flow, river flow
On and on it goes
Breath under water 'til the end
Free fall flow, river flow
On and on it goes
Breath under water 'til the end

FIVE TO ONE
Love my girl
She lookin' good, come on, one more
Five to one, baby
One in five
No one here gets out alive, now
You get yours, baby
I'll get mine
Gonna make it, baby
If we try
The old get old
And the young get stronger
May take a week
And it may take longer
They got the guns
Well, but we got the numbers
Gonna win, yeah
We're takin' over
Come on!
Your ballroom days are over, baby
Night is drawing near
Shadows of the evening
Crawl across the years
Yeah, walk across the floor with a
Flower in your hand
Trying to tell me no one understands
Trade in your hours for a handful of dimes
Gonna' make it, baby, in our prime
Come together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, gotta, get together
(Get together one more time)
(Get together one more time)
Hey, come on, honey
You go on along home and wait for me, baby
I'll be there in just a little while
You see, I gotta go out in this car
With these people and
(Get together one more time)
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, got to
Get together, got to
Get together, got to
Take you up into my room and
(Get together one more time)
Love my girl
She lookin' good, lookin' real good
Love ya, come on
Public service. Bless you.
I mowed a few lawns the summer of '68 to be able to buy this, my first Doors album. Maybe the first album I ever bought with my own money. I remember it felt like an excruciatingly long time after the single, "Hello I Love You" was released before the album finally hit the stores. It was only a month or so, but felt like forever! If not their best, it's still pretty damned good. Krieger's raw solos on Five to One" really stand out! Morrison is in top form & as usual, the whole band is great! The outtakes on "Not to Touch the Earth" are actually very good. Better than the album version in some ways. Thanks for the upload!
My first single was ' Hello I LOve You", too...
You are a happy person.
Enjoy ❤
Worth waiting for...
Love Street still brings tears to my eyes when I think about the sorrow Pam had to go through...
Codependents and narcissists. It a very old and heartbreaking story.@@theredseventhousand
