When this song came out back in the day, it was SO misunderstood. I love this song.
I spent a summer in my old age (60s) working as a painter, also known as a professional applicator of premium coatings, aka, painter, with a wonderful guy from Kentucky who was my immediate supervisor. Essentially we were a two-man team, and we just painted together. I brought the radio, and Robert had the choice of stations. You could take until the sun burns out in billions of years and never guess what he wanted to hear played ... unless you said, "country music." I did not cotton to country music, but since my attitude toward food is that if it stays down and keeps me alive, I'M GOOD WITH IT. So, having painted through hundreds of country songs on the radio, I was stunned into immobility when this came on, and instantly fell in love with the song, the bandf, the treatment that this band and this voice gave ... to loss of love, and the emptiness that follows.
All four of the people up front in this video are Little Big Town: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman (formerly Roads), Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. In most of their songs they all sing, not just Karen. They're kind of known for their 4-part harmonies. Try _Boondocks_ or _Day Drinkin'_ for some fun stuff. They tend to have a bit of a modern blue grass sound, especially in their earlier stuff.
"Your side of the bed" has some haunting harmonies!
This is what's known aa a torch song, filled with incandescent passion but delivered at a slow beat.

...I've made 5 men including my doctor to listen to this song..and they went speechless and very guilty..so guilty not knowing that they could make their women to go through this... especially my doctor..he said that everytime he is with the other woman...he felt really guilty.. greetings all the way from Singapore 😍😍

I'm late to the party Jimmy! Catching up on your videos and I like them a lot! This song is excellent! It's actually a cheating song. The lead singer is playing the part of the cheated and "crushing" on the girl that essentially stole her man! As others have mentioned here. Boondocks is a real display of their harmonies and they did a really cool collab with a few other artists and covered a song called Life in a Northern Town which is definitely worth a listen IMO.
