He sounds very tired here because he’s been on tour for so long, but I HIGHLY recommend his live performance of Unknown/Nth for Amazon Music. it’s BREATHTAKING
Hozier’s live recording of To Be Alone (in Kilkenny) is absolutely beautiful if you want to react to more of him! Some great vocals there (as in all of his stuff)
@@TimWelchVocalStudioooh yes please do more ❤️ ‘Movement’ is also amazing, so many good ones. Oh and by the way he was in a choir when he was younger so interesting that’s what you could hear in him
Actually his vowels choices are more pop music influenced than by his Irish IMHO. In general open vowels from that part of the world are more tall than lateral, he has relatively lateral vowels here.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio he’s from Wicklow and I’m from Wexford and we pronounce vowels differently it just comes naturally and while singing songs we Irish can sing one way and change the sound of the vowels by not even trying to it’s just being Irish listen to dermot Kennedy and his vowels are a bit different he’s from Dublin but you can here there accent coming through just by there vowels
He actually sings the same "ee" note as in the falsetto 'neat' on the belted "ee" in coffee directly afterward in the chorus. It's sung so fully that it's easy to miss. I'm sure the falsetto is entirely stylistic as to lend more dynamism and punch to the note the second time round. It's a very Hozier thing to do - as you ponted to the same dynamic in Take Me To Church Definitely wouldn't sound as rich and emotional without the different dynamic. Just found you today, and appreciate your direct approach to analysis. Any chance you could cover Watch Over You by Alter Bridge (billboard acoustic version). I think it would really suit your kind of analysis.
I enjoyed your assessment! Like the art history class I took in college, it made me appreciate his song and voice even more. I just discovered Hozier last night on a cable music channel.

Interesting you felt that way. I thought this live performance was killer! Thanks, I’ll check out that performance.

Yes!!! That video is amazing!
Yes, please do more! Everyone just does Take Me to Church or Too Sweet, but his other music is just incredible and underrated!
He sang in a choir a back in Ireland.
He’s the best thing out of Eire ☘️ since Guinness 😻
lol
He flips it in the recording too, I think it’s a stylistic choice to help the chorus flow.
I agree
I am subscribed to the Charismatic Voice and the Vocalyst. It’s interesting hearing a professional’s opinion about the music I listen to.
Yep, I know of them. Hit me up if you want me to react to someone.
How about Billie Eilish?
@@JAMIEWELCH-tr9lf Yep, she’s a good one to do.
He's soooooo good 😍
Agreed!
He’s Irish our vowels hit different

Delores O’ Riordan from the Cranberries is a great example of a singer sounding Irish and of course she’s famous for her keening.
Oh he never lost it.
More videos like this! Loved it!
Will do!!

Um...no...US Rs and Ls are the enemy... Far too hard even when spoken 😂 the US R feels like a reverse ribbit in my throat when I try it 😂

Thanks I’ll check it out!
He copie a Jim. Morrison a litlle
In that he is a baritone yes. Hozier is cleaner and can sing higher.
his voice is incredible
This is great and good fun. A wonderful add to my day! Thanks!
Hozier has had two great bands with him, on this tour and his previous one in 2019. His bassist is also the music director and arranger.
Awesome, didn’t know that.
His live performances are even better than his recordings

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.
the way he pronounces vowels could also maybe be a product of the fact that he has a very heavy irish accent
The brightness of the volume is a part of the style, not dialect accent in his case imho
@@TimWelchVocalStudio oh ok that makes sense!
This is cool and all. But it's like dissecting the bejesus out of a fine wine or "Whiskey"! Just enjoy it!!!
This was literally my first reaction. I listen to way more before breaking down now. 🙏🏼
Omg yes he has an ethereal tone 🙂↔️💕
Agreed!
He sounds like the background music in a northern Europe fantasy
Your take on Alice in Chains and Mad Season. Very informative.
I’m excited to get into male rock voices yes
God bless you

How does it work? You are not able to turn on the Spanish subtitles? Doesn’t UA-cam have that option?
