I went into this fight solo, blind, and still confused on my builds. Took me an hour to beat the first phase. I was so stoked. Came phase 2, locking me in with melee Calus, non-healing strand titan, no ammo and 2 tormentors, I was gone in a heartbeat. Looked up tips on Calus and found this. I'm not usually one for cheese strats, but this did made me happy.

Huge thanks, as a solo player that battle was brutal and I died more to ring-out boops than being shot. Returning the favor with a cheesy hiding space was very helpful.
Shooting from behind the stairs was a lifesaver, felt like I was redoing Valus Ta'aurc in D1 again with how much it trivialised the encounter. Phase 2 with strand was pretty easy though, just empty an Osteo clip, grapple, rinse and repeat. I think I found it harder climbing the dome lol.
I honestly thought I was the only one struggling with Calus. There was some irony for me in fighting Calus because after all of the other Legendary missions, Strand just felt natural and amazing against Calus. All that training before the final confrontation actually paid off! My least favourite mission had to be the one where you try to destroy the Radial Mast. This fight is almost if not completely impossible, solo, legit. You are a god my friend, I was getting ready to finish on regular mode just to get it done this week. Thank you Eso.
Not impossible but its a heart breaker for sure. I finally was able to complete it with no cheese after countless deaths. its difficult but not impossible. I found the best strategy for me was to use witherhoard for a majority of the dps, while throwing in some linear fusion rifle shots. The main reason I suggest using witherhoard for dps for the first phase is to save your heavy ammo for the two tormentors. Once you get rid of them, you can use as much heavy ammo as you want. Those grapple points are also your best friend. Enemies have a much harder time hiting you, and tormentors cant really get to you.
The Ostea Striga was surprisingly strong for this fight when I solo'd legend. This clip will help others who have been having trouble for this fight, which is good. Many people in my clan and friend's list struggled with this. Btw, there's an achievement for doing this solo on legendary.
The fact that I found this cheese spot COMPLETELY by accident while swinging around the room like a mad man and thought I was gonna die. Then proceeded to complete decimate him in all 3 phases of the first part. THEN thinking it was over due to joining fireteam. But shuffled forward a little and further under the platform. I proceeded to shoot 1 Psion on the side of the platform i could still see. Then Calus was all like “Oh, you saw the Guardian?! Let me have a look.” Then stayed in shooting range for the whole of part 2. 😅
Bless you, was strugling to finish the story solo legendary and questioned not finishing it because of how hard this final fight was. I hope you have a good day kind sir
I'm trying this as soon as I get home. I've been trying to do the entire campaign solo as a Hunter and the second phase has screwed me multiple times with how he rushes you down with swords. You're a godsend, man.
@@Sean3D2Y boring? It makes u master strand but ig everyome fails to see that. They weren't playing when they said u NEED the darkness to beat him. Everyone kinda just misses that point completely. @@sinxsideways5900 Not that hard to get used to. Just cause it's there doesn't mean I gotta grapple everywhere. Idk it was just boring to me. I do Like Strand though not hating on it.
One "cheese" I found for the second phase (which could come in handy when they fix the current one) is you just hug the cylinder on the floor and play keep away with him. Just keep rotating around the pillar, trying to keep him more or less opposite of you the whole time. He doesn't jump or lunge at you. Only problem is when psions come in, which you just kill them and move to another cylinder. I just pot shotted him with wish ender, but most anything that isn't super close range required works well.
Thank you so much. I fought so hard through the first phase and after I was quickly taken out in the 2nd phase, I IMMEDIATELY looked up a video to help. Again, many thanks. You saved me quite the headache.
Finally beat this with two random lfg guys, and then right at the end when we killed calus they kicked me and it didn't count for me, and i have no idea why. I almost single handedly took care of the tormentors too which was annoying. Thank you so much for this

This is super helpful. I knew of the phase 2 cheese but they all required doing phase 1 quickly by unloading a ton of damage all at once like a Starfire Warlock build. This will make the phase 1 a lot easier for me. One question - based on what you played so far, what do you think is the easiest mission to do flawless solo master in this campaign?
I was honestly having a very difficult time trying different strategies to get through the Bossfight, see you do it like this makes me feel like an idiot for not thinking of it earlier, but honestly, thank you this help me get through the rest of the campaign

I finished the legendary solo campaign today and am just looking through the fights to hear the music again with in game lines, I'm glad I'm not the only one who was struggling with this fight
@@BlueDestiny2 witherhoard is your best friend for phase 2. Hit calus in the head directly, shot him a couple times with heavy or your energy weapon, run, and repeat
Tip for anyone doing this fight: The side platforms shaped like a curve can be used to easily kill the tormentors. When one spawns, destroy both of its shoulders and get it to follow you. Jump on the curved platform and wait for it. When hes jumping up to it, you jump back off to where he came from. If he comes back down then go back up again. Repeat this back and forth until he eventually just walks off without jumping and dies. I found this out by accident and its a lifesaver.
I can't thank you enough for providing this video. After painstakingly building a tanky character that can withstand any attack, I was shocked how easy it was for the boss and the Tormenters to simply toss me over the edge to my death. I spent time trying to kill them fast, or very VERY slow, but it always ended up with me falling to my death. After 3 days of trying to beat the boss, after COUNTLESS hours, I almost uninstalled this game for probably forever. You helped both me and Bungie from losing a loyal customer!
Two days ago, after 85 failed attempts,I just gave up. The video is mega informative, but I don't have the nerve to try again, even in this way. It's not normal, the game should bring pleasure, not terrorize your nervous system!
If not for constantly being bopped around like a ping pong….I would not have needed a strategy like this. But everything in this fight just ragdolls you around the arena, thanks for the much needed help.
Much appreciated. Finished the campaign on normal when it dropped but used your strategies to finish the last two missions on legendary just now. Keep doing what you doing 👏🏾
Thank you for this. Didn't make it up top before getting sucked in on Phase 2, but had enough ammo and health to somehow survive and get it done. Don't know how on earth I'd have manged that first phase without this. Much appreciated!
Thanks for this a lot 👍. I struggled with my lfg teammates then both left after about 8 or 10 attempts. Came back the next day solo after watching your video, got it on the second try(failed the jump the first😂)
I used this with my Titan after dying 40 plus times still took me quite a few tries to execute. This fight was extremely hard, thanks for the vide,o wouldn't have been abl,e to get it done otherwise!
So the second part didn't work for me so while under the stairs I made sure to kill the tormentors, then zipped along with the strand like crazy in the second half and finally killed Calus! Thanks for the video as that was a life saver!
Might try this. I could easily do phase one regularly solo. But the second I discovered there is a whole second phase with a tight space and two tormentors I was like nah
Here's the easiest way if u guys don't want to cheese... Get the strand just stand inbetween two Console on one of the platform.. Use that poison exo smg and explosive personality or any wave grenade and taipan fr. 1. Just stand behind the console calus head will peek out the stop just keep shooting him with the smg... When he spawn enemy just clear them asap with the wave grenade... Keep doing it until he spawn the tormentor.. Shoot. The shoulder with taipan when he reach the bridge he's closed enough to get hit by the smg.. Shoot him a couple time then grapple to him, and he'll get stunned, shoulder charge him, put a couple smg bullet, stun again repeat until he can be finished then go back.. Phase 2 not that much different just dps but this time mix it with grenade Launcher... It's almost the same as phase 2 just a bit longer... Phase 3..dony immediately jump down.. Shoot him with yr taipan just wait till u get pulled in by the boss.. Then pop your super then just run ard with smg while occasionally stun him with strand grapple and charge..
Although I failed to grapple on top of the Veil dome for the phase 2 fight, the tougher part was phase 1. And this cheese just made it smooth and easy to deal with Calus and the 2 Tormentors. Phase 2, after a few fails, I gave Calus a Strand Super whooping and then pulled out my machine gun. That ate away at his health like a hot knife on butter
After the way this game "CHEESED" me last night with all sorts of bullcrap ways it killed me, I look forward to finishing this fight using this method. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

what i did for the solo legend was just not grab strand and just bonk hammer everything
I stafire fusion naded him without killing a single enemy
Exactly that bonk so broken
@@tylerburge1496 I melted Calus with starfire protocol, I killed him in less than 3 minutes
I tried 2 days straight until your guide. Finished this step in 15min. Mahalo nui loa
The Ostea Striga was surprisingly strong for this fight when I solo'd legend. This clip will help others who have been having trouble for this fight, which is good. Many people in my clan and friend's list struggled with this. Btw, there's an achievement for doing this solo on legendary.
The Osteo Striga is just strong.
this and witherhoard both are really good picks for this fight especially if witherhoard has the catalyst
3:35 Thanks buddy! I got that legendary campaign finished solo thanks to your video. You are an awesome player and a great UA-camr!
Yesterday only i finish this bastards with this method. It is still working. If bungie put such unfair fight, we must do the same.
I very doubt you could use this method, it's patched for more than 2 months now
Took like 3hrs and still couldn’t finish the first phase. I definitely need this! Thank you
The fact that I found this cheese spot COMPLETELY by accident while swinging around the room like a mad man and thought I was gonna die.
Let me have a look.”
Then stayed in shooting range for the whole of part 2. 😅
Bless you, was strugling to finish the story solo legendary and questioned not finishing it because of how hard this final fight was. I hope you have a good day kind sir
On one hand I'm glad I did this properly but on the other hand you better believe I'm cheesing it on my 2nd and 3rd chars
doing this solo literally almost made me rage quit until i found this 😭😭 thank you
The GOAT, coming through again. Thank you for this for my legendary run!
I'm trying this as soon as I get home. I've been trying to do the entire campaign solo as a Hunter and the second phase has screwed me multiple times with how he rushes you down with swords. You're a godsend, man.
Just gotta run, jump and shoot. Pretty boring fight honestly compared to other bosses
@@Sean3D2Y boring? It makes u master strand but ig everyome fails to see that. They weren't playing when they said u NEED the darkness to beat him. Everyone kinda just misses that point completely. U can literally swing infinitely as long as u grapple the balls in the air. U wouldn't know this unless u had been experimenting and mastering strand and not just speed running the campaign.
@@Sean3D2Y It sounds like you haven't tried to solo the Legendary campaign.
@@sinxsideways5900 Not that hard to get used to. Just cause it's there doesn't mean I gotta grapple everywhere. Idk it was just boring to me. I do Like Strand though not hating on it.
@@exxy9931 been doing solo legendary 😂 its a cake walk in Classic.
Take it one step further and just jump on top of the cylinder and he won’t attack you at all
That purple stuff you stand on I go straight through it!!
Thank you so much for the video. You literally saved my sanity 😅
Same for me😅
The and Osiris's gauntlet simulation broke me. Appreciate your work.
Thank god, this encounter was the first time I legitimately rage quit
Same. After dying 10 times by being booped off the map I rage quit and haven’t turned it back on since
Same. First time I've rage-quit in two years. Will be trying again after work today
Thank you so much for this
I hate hearing these grief stories. Some real crappy people in the community sometimes
Report them to bungie, they will get banned
Never join lfg always make them. Some people just enjoy the power of the boot a little too much
Because youre using a glitch 🤡
Stuff like this just brings back the D1 vibes and enjoyment.
Saviour of the community.
Thank you so much dude. Spent 2 hours on him last night trying all sorts of things… Then found this in the morning and we got him in about 7 minutes.❤
A friend and I were playing last night and he found that spot by mistake but we never thought using it for cheesing phase one, but that second spot, that is the french kiss, thanks!
I feel like this fight had too much going on, so very thankful for this
I’m very glad I was able to do this legit solo, but I’m super grateful this method exists for future runs.
Thie mission is called desperate measures for a reason 😂
My fireteam and I beat him the first time after like 3 hours straight and I was put back to step 8 of this quest. Thank god you made this 😭 thank you!
I can’t go under the stairs or is it just me
This saved my butt and actually encouraged me to play the rest of Legendary with this out of the way. Genuinely appreciate this information!
They removed the exploit. Bungie will fix anything but a problem.
I died 26 times until I see this video, this mdfr trow me out of the stage soo many times. Thanks bro, I work and I was ready to play all the nigth to kill Calus but you help me a lot :D
Was it worth the spoiler?
YES
I’m playing this about 5 weeks after lightfall dropped. So happy that there is loads of cheese videos throughout this whole campaign. Rest In Peace to all the guardians who were doing this blind.
Bro I still can’t beat phase two
I finished the legendary solo campaign today and am just looking through the fights to hear the music again with in game lines, I'm glad I'm not the only one who was struggling with this fight
Tried finding a way after accidentally being yeeted under balcony and shit.
Bet your ass I’m using this for other 2 Characters
Thanks for the video man! I’d like to say I’m a “veteran” player coming back after a break. got stuck hard on this boss..
My Hunter won't go in there
Same lol
warlock won't either..
Was able to do exactly this after watching this tutorial ONCE. Died maybe 20x before that dude, you're a SAINT among guardians lol
As of 9/27/23 This is patched
FUCK
Of course. 🙄🙄
Two days ago, after 85 failed attempts,I just gave up.
The video is mega informative, but I don't have the nerve to try again, even in this way.
It's not normal, the game should bring pleasure, not terrorize your nervous system!
It's patched
If not for constantly being bopped around like a ping pong….I would not have needed a strategy like this. But everything in this fight just ragdolls you around the arena, thanks for the much needed help.
Much appreciated. Finished the campaign on normal when it dropped but used your strategies to finish the last two missions on legendary just now. Keep doing what you doing 👏🏾
Thank you for this. Didn't make it up top before getting sucked in on Phase 2, but had enough ammo and health to somehow survive and get it done. Don't know how on earth I'd have manged that first phase without this. Much appreciated!
Saw this in recommended earlier today, but didn't want spoils.
2 hours of failing, I'm here to watch...
Holy crap I can't thank you enough for this video I've was struggle hard to get this done and because of this video it's done on my warlock.
Again, I completed this on Titan and Warlock after a few tries, all legit. But man, Hunter has been a struggle for me. I appreciate you, cheers!
So the second part didn't work for me so while under the stairs I made sure to kill the tormentors, then zipped along with the strand like crazy in the second half and finally killed Calus! Thanks for the video as that was a life saver!
Man, you’re a live savior, I was ready to break my controller over my knee yesterday after 3 hours of trying😂
"You gave him an honourable cabal death?"
Straight up spent like 4 hours total trying this legit and finally got it. Glad I saw this afterwards!
dude thank you so much for the tutorial, i've been trying for about half a week and now i've finally done it.
Holy hell, thank you so much! I spent hours on this fight and could barely get to phase 2. You're a lifesaver!
If I would have known I would have done this
But I didn’t cheese it and did it legit. Hated it but glad it’s done.
I’m ashamed that I couldn’t do it legit but thanks to this, it’s over. Thank you dude! I did it!
You and the person who posted the headlong mission cheese are forever goated 😤 thank you so much!
Me and my husband finished the legendary campaign last night, whilst I’m glad this method exists, our way was much more rewarding at the end when we finally beat him 😂 - those ads are a pain
I am eternally grateful for this video.
This reall saved me was doing that mission longer than I’d want to admit trying to do it the right way lol
i struggled for two hours straight on legendary man thanks so much lol
these cheese tips have been so helpful thank you so much
Forerunner has really helped me with all the bosses. It's slays
The Tormentors in this fight make it nigh-on impossible solo, even on Classic. Nothing says fun like getting suppressed and pushed into a pit with no way to save yourself.
Thanks for this!
