What are your thoughts on this PvE DPS build? It's personally one of my favorites, and arguably one of the best DPS builds out there for endgame PvE content! Let me know what you think, and if you prefer a different PvE build!
i specifically made a new account to try this build out from the start. Now im not a big fan of the spear but hopefully this build changes my mind on it xd. Love the rapier tho and never tried a bleed build with it so looking forward to reaching end game with and seeing how it holds up.
Few comments 1. Spear/Rapier limited utility due to weapon swap issues. Also Often fighting 1v5 w/o ranged pull for PvE 2. Build presented is incomplete. Going over perks for armor and amulet is useful to new players. Also gems and heart gem. Video showed two, so it would be nice to know which one and why 3. Azoth Crystal gear is not easy to acquire as sadly most PUGs cannot do M2s, and most aren't doing mutations. So, you are at mercy of RNG, or need to do hundreds of runs to get the materia. So if you haven't gotten this gear, you are SOL. 4. If there were alternatives for solo-able named items for example, that could be useful. Otherwise it is a bad utility of time to try to replicate this while gear deficient.
I wouldn't recommend running both since they're both mainhands, but that's if youre in dungeons (mutations specifically and raid). Having musket, fs, ig, BB or vg would be the best offhands for rapier (finisher). You also don't want to max tondo either. The reason why you dont want to do spear rapier is because your highest DPS doesn't revolve around weapon swapping a lot. In open world though run whatever you like. In dungeons, especially m2-m3 you want a mainhand spear user with enf skewer. Spear mainhands should run GA/Hammer offhand, sometimes hatchet and sometimes BB. For bleed build for rapier for the highest bleed + pops you want 350 int + 200(250) dex + 25 focus For evapier you want 350 dex + 250 int + 25 str + 25 foc Spear users you want 350 strength + 200(250) dex + 25 int + 25 focus Again this is okay for open world farming, but it isn't really optimal in terms of "High" DPS output for PvE endgame content (M3+Raid+Worm Trial). But then again, if you don't REALLY mind not being fully optimized, then it doesn't matter what build you run, as long as you dont do less DPS than a speedrun healer
You could sprinkle in INT and just use spear for CC and debuffs tbh and use it as a way to debuff enemies, and prioritize rapier for bleeds and DPS. I’ve used it both ways, even going 350 DEX, 250 INT, rest CON, and use spear as CC and debuffs, then rinse and repeat rapier combos and it works like a charm in all endgame PvE content (at least for me).
@@Savvvo I'm not saying that it won't work, but for the highest DPS/more optimized setup then you'd go the other way, but M3's can be done with whatever build for the most part, but in terms of just wanting to fully minmax builds I wouldn't recommend going double mainhand weapons
@Alldayanyday1OnThePS4 I don’t see the difference tbh, even using spear just to debuff and using rapier as your main hand. What do you use with rapier then when you try to max out DPS?
@@Savvvo it's having to swap back and forth to upkeep debuffs with spear, that's why having a spear DPS in general is always the best in a group. I have the finisher at 725 with the disintegrate perk I believe. Crazy damage! I’m also using a bow with keenly jagged.
thank you for this, im usually playing tank but started a fresh character on a new server and went with a dps and was playing with bow and spear but really like the rapier so going to switch to this.
I used this build (near enough) in M3’s and have victor and speed victor titles on nearly all dungeons, it’s solid with leeching flurry on a piece of gear you don’t need heals, your only die from 1 shot stuff
I was running a skewer spear with lifetaker. It's been fun to use. 5 con medium with featherweight and fort perforate I was decently tanky and still pumped out plenty of dps. Was great for pugs.

@SteveBiscuit1440 I think it’s a cool idea to run skewer spear with lifetaker tbh and use VG as primarily buffing allies, I’m totally gonna mess around with that one day tbh! I wouldn’t go medium though for PvE for sure, I think you can pull off light easily with that build
You should just try 5 con medium to see where your DPS is at. Yeah light will be more but if your not speed running it's plenty and a lot more survivability. Dead DPS is low DPS.

Void Gauntlet is probably the best high survival weapon in the game. Great DPS, can solo mobs because of cleave and heals as much as 1400 per second. Can solo those solo trials no problem. Can just stand there and DPS through the damg.
Yes because healing generates threat. If the tank is rounding up a room of enemies but isn't generating threat, the earrings will pull aggro from the tank who has yet to taunt.

Thank you very much for your video, you explain very well, I am a Spanish viewer. I have a question, I am usually new to the game If I like this combination of weapons, is this the final build? obviously with all the perks you mentioned
Yes - there are many builds though, and you can change any of these that you would like to make it right for you. Some people run 300 DEX, 250 INT, and the rest CON, and that works well with the rapier damage (but minimizes some of the spear damage).
I personally love this build, the only problem i have is the sustainability im really squishy which is okay because its light Armor but i would love to be able to self heal cause we cant rely on potions and food i have the life steal on the spear and leech on the ring along with divine on the amulet but it doesn't really do much tbh i am running more con and less int as well but do you or any have any thoughts or suggestions for me?
Yea I’ll have to try it out for the extended bleeds, I feel like I re-apply them so fast! Will try it out for sure. Do you use a spear for your secondary too when running this?
Wouldn’t you want to socket your Finisher with Abyssal Amethyst Runeglass and then stack extra void damage in stuff like your pants with sighted moonstone runeglass? So those all proc and stack to your dps?
Depends on how much you trust your tank imo! Realistically you shouldn’t be taking any damage if you have the correct placement, so no need to use cyclone for the healing. I like sweep for the cc primarily, plus helps with named enemies and junk in mutations.
Maybe a noob question, but why take the extra intelligence when you could take extra dex to benefit both weapons? Does bleed count as elemental damage or are you utilizing elemental damage from other sources?
Intelligence scales off of Rapier, and after 350 of any attribute there is a great amount of diminish returns. The passives for the INT attribute I can pick up also supports overall damage output by quite a bit for the rapier!
Wouldnt Slash be better on the ring over thrust considering bleed is slash damage? and that's whats nuking the enemy? so Hearty/Slash dmg / bloodletting be better?
I haven’t tested billed damage type - is it actually considered “Slash”? That’s interesting if it is, would need to do the math to see how much the difference is after going through the full combo with comparing ability damage output difference and billed damage difference!
