The compartments on the floor would be grand wine storage 👍🙂
That is our thoughts exactly!
I TOTALLY want to see Danni’s plants! My partner laughed so hard at Joe’s expression.
Hahaha he loves my plants really 😂
Great engine bay 👍 Lovely idea for the 2 storage compartments in the floor, nice to see all your ideas coming together & agreeing on them ❤ Look forward to watching all your videos & completing your project, your home. Glenn & Marion X
Thank you!
Engine bay looks fantastic, your work has paid off. With your pantry lids cover the gap with a piece of sheet metal on the inside to brace and stop dirt falling through. Coming along wery well! Good team work.
Thank you! We’re filling the gaps with some hessian rope so that the boards are able to still expand and contract, fingers crossed it works!
ON THE UNDER SIDE OF ONE OF THE FLOOR BOARDS OVER THE WINE BOTTLES AND THE PANRTY. ATTACH A STRIP OF WOOD IN BETWEEN THE TWO FLOOR BOARDS OVER YOUR COMPARTMENTS TO KEEP DEBRIE FROM FALLING DOWN INTO THEM!
Yes we're sealing them up at a later date!
Hello to you both. I have just watched all your vlogs regarding your life converting the narrowboat, and I must say I'm loving them, so many thanks. keep it up xx
Thanks for watching!!
joe, thats what i though at first too, but as i see you doing it, i think opening to port and starboard would be best that way you dont have to step over the hatch to get stuff in or out, just saying, keep posting doing great...... Thomas Noteboom
Thank you, because of the layout of the kitchen etc we think think will work - but can always alter the hinges later if it doesn't!
Uncle Dave was spot on with the weedhatch tape. I did the same thing to stop the boards rattling. It worked well and had the added benefit that it reduced engine noise. It will settle down with use, so the rear doors should clear the deck board.
One benefit from having this channel is the amount of combined experience we have from everyone that watches and comments, it’s been really helpful so far!
Good job on the bilge. Overall it’s coming on great. 👍
Thank you!
You guys look a little tired this week, great idea with the floor lockers. Take care of yourself and good luck with the rest of the build.
Thanks Paul! Well spotted on the tiredness, the previous two videos were filmed within the space of a week so that we could take a week 'off' and work a full week of normal work to get some money saved ready for the electrical/solar install!
Awesome content - thoroughly enjoying your channel and steadily working through the journey of your vids. One quick question - can you put the list of tracks you play in the description, as some I don't recognise but enjoy? cheers and happy 'barging'!!
The boat is coming along great! You are a good team.
Thank you!!
1st time that I have seen the engine compartment finished, it looks great. Your hard work has paid off. Just seen the comments about left-handedness, its a sign of an artistic temperament there are more of us than you think.
Thank you! Yes both of us are part of the lefty club!
I’m also in this ‘club’ I like spotting others who maybe just handling something in the way we do and can’t resist enquiring “are you left handed” ? then a pleasant affirmative response usually follows 👍😊
Check out Narrow boat that james built. He used a piece of acrylic I believe for a floor hatch.
Yes we’ll find that episode out and have a look, thank you
Great vlog you two.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you 😊
Joe clears everything away ready to sand the floor and Danni gets it all out again and moves the tools so he can’t find them again 🔁🤣😂
😂😂 welcome to my life!
@@ItsOhJoe wishing you both the very best road trip in the US, it will give you the perfect rest bite from the boat and you will come back refreshed and recharged to do all the finishing touches so you finally get to enjoy some adventures in your lovely new home It’s looking fantastic
Ii think Joe needed a nap before the first half of the vlog. Got a little testy there for a while.
Yes quite likely! That was a while ago now, how many videos have you managed?
Danni, Joe, Great Vlog thank you. What a lovely engine bay. So clean and tidy and very impressive. Your boat is really coming along now. Love the banter between you both. Like the plants at the end of the Vlog. Take Care.
Thank you! It's a love hate relationship but it seems to work!
Looking great we are going for the boxes in the floor great way for extra storage x
Yes it’s such a good use of space!
Boat is looking great! Love how you always have a vase of flowers :) x
Thank Jay! Yes Danni’s orders, does brighten the place up a touch!
Nice job on the engine bay and under floor storage compartments. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
The work is coming along beautifully. It's looking great.
Thank you!
Hey guys, long time watcher, first time poster from Australia. Loving the vlog guys. Any chance in the future you could do the T Shirts in a larger size for those of us that a little more rotund (3XL) than an extra large. Will send you some shots of it on the Gold Coast in Australia 😍
Thanks for watching! Yes pop us an email over at danniandjoetravel@gmail.com, we'll be putting another order in with the screen printer shortly so can accommodate most sizes!
Great job on the under floor storage guys! Your engine bay is pretty spiffy as well. Looking good. Still love how you clean up after yourselves as you go along. All the best from Missouri.
Thank you!
As far as the engine compartment is concerned, clean is lovely and Prevention is definitely better than Cure. You also have an advantage as being aware as to what in in there and what is all does is probably far more than most boat owners. Just nice watching your progress. I worried about your front doors for some time as they don't really fit that well, look waterproof or secure at all.
Thank you, yes it's a much nicer place to work now in terms of servicing the engine and re-wiring! The doors have been measured & ordered so not long now!
On the channel Narrowboat that James built, episode 230, he bought some clear 25 mil Perspects (I know that's spelled wrong but I don't think they offer it here in the States, we have something called Lexan) that he is using for basically the same thing, see through Wine cooler under the floor with LED lighting. Check it out.
Thanks Gregg will be good to compare costs etc for using Perspex!
Hi you two, Your under floor pantry needs an inner lid to protect the cans or fresh veg from dust and dirt falling onto said items, regards Mike
Thanks Mike, we’re filling the gaps with some hessian rope so that the boards are able to still expand and contract, fingers crossed it works!
@@ItsOhJoe I still think you will need the inner lid, the hessian rope will be decorative but will let dust and dirt past, if using for vegetables they will need washing so depleting you limited water supply for the want of a piece of 3 ply
Regards Mike
Hi from California
Hey! Thanks for watching
that's not rain, this is England, that is Liquid Sunshine
Wouldn’t have it any other way
Cracking video loved it the engine compartment looks mint really clean it's coming along nicely you guys are great to watch love a Sunday catching up with you both 😊👍
Thank you!
Hi just a quick one, the water dripping down your door, have you fixed it yet, as I had folding doors in my shower in our caravan and the water ran into the toilet not the tray, so I taped some plastic on the opposite side of the door and made it long enough to lay into the tray. This could work for you
Thanks that could be a good temporary fix, we're having the doors replaced so hopefully that will sort the issue moving forward!
great video guys
Thank you!
Hi guys, really enjoyed the vlog, boats looking good, nice job in the engine bay,I saw the dab radio at the start of the vlog, can you tell me if you get a good signal on-board,I can't find a radio that works on-board,cheers guys
Thank you! The radio is OK but the battery life is pants (about 20 minutes with 3 x AA!!!) so we leave a battery pack plugged in. Signal is pretty good though!
I have the perfect screws down stairs for those piano hinges. Let me know if you want them and I will post them to you. They are even the right colour.
Thank you all sorted now, that’s really kind though!
Everything is looking great and I did want to see the plants 😉. My house is full of plants. Just wondering are you only staining the floor? Or are you going to put some polyurethane on it?
Thanks glad you appreciate the plants! We're using Osmo Polxy which should be fairly hard wearing
You need French cabinet hinges for your floor doors
These seem to work for now, will take a look if they fail!
good vid
Thank you!
Not sure if I spotted it right but it looks like your stern gland greaser is wound all the way down ... In which case it needs to be refilled?
Well spotted! We've got about an inch of thread left so will need filling soon
MAN YOU HAVE ENOUGH ROOM IN YOUR ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO INSTALL A 120 VAC GENERATOR, YOU ALSO NEED AN INVERTOR OR INVERTERS, WITH A GOOD SIZE BATTERY BANK AND YOU COULD RAN ANYTHING AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
It's a great size!
Good job, but when you sand wood you should always do it in the direction of the grain....
We use random orbital sanders so it doesn't tend to matter so much (for the finish we require anyway!)
@@ItsOhJoe Looking forward to seeing it when it’s finished
What cordless tool batteries do you have? A matching circular saw might be available tool only at reasonable cost
Yes we do have a circular saw, sometimes we forget what we have here though!
@@ItsOhJoe I’ve been known to borrow a tool only to be reminded that I already have it
? The gaps between the floor boards they will catch trash and damp like that it is a boat not a house with ventilation just asking I truly am asking not trying to be unkind or anything
We’re filling the gaps with some hessian rope so that the boards are able to still expand and contract, fingers crossed it works!
Sterling work you both , but I´m a little worried about he gaps between the floor boards , coldness from the base plate mixed with air will make that floor freezing even in the summer are thinking of filling in the gaps maybe with silicon or some other filler ? just a thought ..regards from Austria
Thank you! Yes we're filling with caulking rope to seal & still allow the boards to expand and contract
Just wondering why the gaps between the floor boards? Aren't you going to loose stuff down there and wont it fill the hull with dirt and crap over time (which will just absorb water and cause you longer term problems)?
There's a layer of multifoil insulation directly below the floor but we're actually filling the gaps in with 'caulking' /rope like they use on traditional yachts, should offer a decorative and helpful solution!
@@ItsOhJoe Thanks for the reply. That makes perfect sense now.
Are you coming to the Crick show?
We didn't make it & have never been but would love to visit next year!
@@ItsOhJoe it was our first time and everyone kept saying that it was only a third the size it normally is and not so good. However, it's usually in May so not all the exhibitors were available and obvs Covid has had effect. We loved it! So many boaty. Things to see & get ideas from! Xx
@@barbarabull2672 ah fingers crossed for a more normal next year!
Yuk spray foam
the worst insulation for boats
Floor nice well done
Will the gaps between the floor boards be caulked or somesuch?
Yes we're going to lay hessian rope in-between with some sort of sealant below - will be a bit further on in the build as not to get the rope too manky!
What about all the dust and gritthat falls between floorboards
We’re filling the gaps with some hessian rope so that the boards are able to still expand and contract, fingers crossed it works!
Have you guys sold the van yet?
Yes she has gone to a lovely new home quite locally!
:)
😊
The tape will bed down
Yes it's already much better
This is what you need for the wooden floors you clean the floor then put this stuff down. Works a treat for less than £15 www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-hard-floor-protection-roll-25m-x-500mm/32544
Thanks yes I think that’s the same or similar to what we’ve got!
Will the dirt fall between the gaps?
We’re filling the gaps with some hessian rope so that the boards are able to still expand and contract, fingers crossed it works!
👍👌🇨🇦❤,
Looked like a cheese plant
It’s slightly different from a Swiss cheese plant, nicknamed monkey mask (monstera adansonii), definitely same family though!
Great time lapse great music keep them coming 🤘🏻🤩❤️🌎
Thank you!
