    John sounds like to trope of the leader of a group of assassins. Calm and calculated and plans the best strategy for a clean kill. If he'd chosen a different profession, he could have been a very dangerous man.

    Unpopular take but what if there were no sitting to guard in all ADCC matches? Feel like that would advantage wrestlers, but also incentive BJJ grapplers to treat stand up more seriously...Although maybe everyone would forfeit the leg like Gordon 😂

    It is penalized to deliberately sit down, but it is not to crawl around on your ass when you have the opportunity to stand up - that seems like an obvious flaw in the adcc rule set

    • @marky1846
      @marky1846 Рік тому +5

      There are several flaws.
      The switching sides with the rear body triangle and getting points for it is absurd.
      I also think no points for first 5 mons is dumb.. the idea was to make people attack... but alot just stall.

    • @AbsoluteADCC
      @AbsoluteADCC Рік тому +9

      @@marky1846 wrestlers stall, guard players attacking during that time. Plain and simple.

    • @marky1846
      @marky1846 Рік тому

      @@AbsoluteADCC wouldn't that make it better to have points start right away?
      Give the wrestler ensetive to pass and the gaurd player to sweep? I never said take away penalties for stalling.

    • @AbsoluteADCC
      @AbsoluteADCC Рік тому +2

      @@marky1846 that’s what IBJJF does. And that rule favors guard players more than wrestlers because you can pull guard.
      Now the problem is this: who will you force to engage, the bottom or the top?
      If I’m a dangerous guard player, all you have to do standing up is to disengage, go side to side, walk away. That’s penalized under IBJJF and if I pull guard you are forced to engage my guard.
      I think ADCC took the same approach to guard players that’s why they take -1 during points time for pulling guard because now top player has to engage in passing.
      If you put pressure on guard player to chance the top guy then we will tons of butt scooting action which is…well, awkward lol.
      The whole rule thing is complicated and there never will be a perfect rule set.
      In my opinion, IBJJF essentially does a good job with point.
      Combat effective positions are awarded more points.
      No penalty for guard pulling but you have to attack from the bottom or penalized.
      Takedowns are easy to score which gives wrestles and judo players a huge advantage to score easy 2.
      But again, just my opinion.

      yeah. But not like that. Gordon gave the leg and let him be taken down in a pull guard kinda way (wihtout pulling guard). Nicky should've ignored the leg and go for another takedown to avoid stalling. And have a more favorable position. But always easy talking stuff from the sidelines afterwards. Just my opinion.
