Only been a few times to be honest Tim , never realised how many tudor (or mock tudor) buildings there are it looks like a lot of potential wasted. It could have been derbyshires answer to Chester if the powers that be had some foresight why do they have to re gentrify everything if they bother to ask the people of most market towns they are quite happy with what they have got all they want is it to be maintained properly ,free parking, open pubs and low shop rents and hey presto it's a nice place to live and visit. remember it's not rocket science! that 40s market looked brilliant btw I would have loved it😃cheers Tim another good un👍
@@timawells Morning Tim just wondering if the name "Chester" is synonymous with the tudor buildings in both places . Yep I think Chester has some of the castle walls preserved but it does have it's ugly new buildings springing up on the riverbank it seems nowhere is safe mate .
@@timawellsChester means there was a Roman town or fort there therefore they made up most of the largest medieval towns, then Tudor towns and thus have more Tudor buildings
I can hear the three counties triangle accent Tim. I was born in Sheffield but moved to Chesterfield 30 years ago. So I have the similar accent. Often asked if I'm from Worksop
Mark I live in Yorkshire, but on Nottingham boundary and I found out Derbyshire boundary is probably as close. My Grandma who was a real DeeDah said we spoke posh.
Visited The Town Centre this week and the town appears to be polarised where the main car park ate is almost derelict of business life and a very busy other side of the town where all the main high street shops are now in a precinct.
Thursday is usually the busiest day, when I come in on a Saturday its dead. But other than the market area and High St feeding it, its usually void of people.
the reason why the town is dead the rest of the week is the car parking is to expensive and the rates are to dear for the little shops and so for the market traders and of course the crack heads.
I like that people got really dressed up for this…brilliant 😊
Beautiful chesterfield, thanks Tim xxx
Thanks Linda.
Beautiful Chesterfield ❤
It still has a lot, but they need to be careful its not removed.
@@timawellsthey are now stopping people videoing outside the crooked spire church stating it is not public land.

Morning Jon. Having worked in Chester I am sure Chesterfield is much better. Chester has a Castle wall I think.

@@deedahinkent Yes the Chester thing must be something to do with the Tudor, but then was it Roman Jon.

@@timawellssounds great.
A nice juicy video for me to watch after work 🙂😎
It back fired on me. I wanted to show the current status and this was extraordinary.

@@retrorambles517 I am doing a lot at the moment due to the rate of change to capture it for posterity.
A lot riding on it post Covid because Market Hall only recently revamped.
Whahoo! Signs of life...
It doesn't take a lot.
@@timawellsis this wartime market with Spitfire and wartime vehicles on display a kind of subtle brainwashing to prepare us for another war 🤔

So much more can be done to drag people in.
