It’s called King Ranch after the 825,000 acre King Ranch located in Kingsville Texas. This truck is a tribute to Texas because that’s the state that purchases the most F-150. Chevy and Toyota have “Texas editions” that follows the same principle, Texans love their trucks haha
Yeah watching them not knowing what the King Ranch branding was and trying to work their way through all that made me cringe so much. Usually love their videos, but damn that was hard to watch as a native Texan. Also, I don't know if Ford still sells it, but like around a decade ago, Ford literally had a Texas edition on top of the King Ranch. Think the Texas edition was just a Lariat with some popular options put into a package.
Perhaps no vehicle class has made more strides over the past 20 years in terms of overall comfort and drivability than the truck class. I remember driving a couple of trucks back in the late 90's and feeling utterly uncomfortable past speeds of say 60 MPH. These trucks coming out nowadays still serve their primary purpose of being all-duty purpose vehicles to haul and tow stuff...but now you can legitimately cruise for long distances on the highway and feel *comfortable* doing so with good ride quality and refinement. Another awesome review.
Wow, that is interesting to know. Yeah, these trucks coming out nowadays are farrrrrrr more comfortable and refined than just 15 years ago. I can legitimately drive most new trucks now at 80 MPH...despite the obvious weight differences, they're almost just as comfortable now as your average passenger sedan.
I love the interior colours of the Ling Ranch Edition. Looks like they managed to get an actual saddle brown which looks well with the piping and combined with black. Very masculine, classy looking.
The Ram has a nice interior at first glance but the more you look at it, the more “rhinestone cowboy”, Orville Peck it gets. The silver buckles on the rear map pockets are way too much.
I love y’all like I really do. But y’all were describing literally everyone in Texas . They make those trucks for us and everyone has one. Great vid guys!
Ethan ethan Y’all in Texas must be wealthy. The highly optioned modern full size pickup truck is not cheap and fuel expensive. The “logo” is the actual brand (as in hot metal burned into the skin of cattle to identify them) used by the original King Ranch in Texas. Every ranch had a unique brand so that when free ranging (being raised on public/open lands) they could identify their cattle from the others. Plus it prevented cattle rustlers (thieves) stealing their cattle, since their origins could be identified at a glance.
I’ve always been a ford truck guy when I was little, I had a power wheels Ford F-150 I’ve collected all types of anything that’s the Ford F-150 I hope I could own this one day (I’m only 15)
I know you guys asked for this a long while ago but I’m a procrastinator. I went and looked at a Ram Longhorn edition based on your review. I ended up buy a 3500 Longhorn. You boys weren’t wrong. I love my truck.
Lesson for the day children! Ford started the two tone paint for trucks long before my old ass was born and has kept that theme ever since, except for some trim levels ( cheap stripped down models). Two tone trucks are a sign of upscale for Ford.
I'm 16 and I think the two tone paint and chrome looks fantastic. Its not only older guys that like it. Edit: Thats is my dream, truck right after a Denali 6.2. The running W logo is the Ranch symbol. It is how we keep track of cattle from Ranch to Ranch. We brand the cattle with the logo. KingRanch is in South Texas. At one point, it was the largest ranch in Texas at over a million acres but has since downsized. The KingRanch truck means a lot to us in Texas and it is the only truck the KingRanch uses for all of their work trucks. The partnership with Ford began in '99 and the first truck came '01. They used actual rawhide leather until '08 when they realized that it wasn't holding up well as a seat material. Technically, it was called Lanolin leather. Starting in '09 they did a 50/50 mix of Lanolin and traditional car leather and the seats are holding up much better. I have had an '08 and currently own an '07. I have had to replace a couple pieces of Lanolin but the interior is back to looking as new as possible. I love these trucks! Thanks for reviewing it StraightPipes!
