I respect the job but i only respect the officer that i interact with that does his job correctly and doesnt treat me like a criminal from jump.But unfortunately it seems that way too many officers just dont have the right mindset or has become more of a threat than a protector and we still havent even factored in the racial aspect.To give you an idea in a similar situation around 1am the police have 4 white teens pulled over, the one officer addressing the teens is casual and the other officer is just chilling on the front of the police car.I was
lost was in Philadelphia took a wrong turn eneded up in Nj.This is back before phone gps so im driving blind when i see the police lights and pull over across the street.I get out with my keys in hand saying excuse me sir im lost and im trying to get back to Pa...This is what is see,the casual officer talking to the teens turn listens for a second or two then rests his hand on his gun.The other officer chilling on the front of the police car starts moving to the other side of teens car using them as a potential shield.My hands are in the open with keys and im more of a threat than the 4 teen that they pulled over for doing something wrong or suspected of doing something wrong.
Absolutely right. I've been in Law Enforcement 32 years and agree 💯 %. This is why people hate cops. If it's a traffic violation then issue him a citation and move on. Reasonable smell is weak.

Yep, and it's a minor misdemeanor that doesn't even count towards your actual "criminal record". I got charged with it a few times as a teenager when cops would harass me in my small town. Nobody wants to hear about it though because I'm huwhyte and that doesn't fit the narrative of "Racl$t USA".

That's what I was thinking, then I remembered this happened to me 2x, I'm a white female. Both times my car was searched/nothing found but the 1st time they towed & impounded my car!
So sick of an officer saying, "because I'm giving you a lawful order!" They think that if it comes from their mouths it automatically makes it lawful.

Not for a long time now! Profiting and upscale for better pay or position! I have seen how they profit from parents for their teenage kids behavior and once these teenagers turn 18 they just book them and throw them back on the street the very next day.
Even though they like to plaster those exact slogans all over their vehicles, they'll be the first ones to tell you, that's not actually their job. They aren't obligated to protect or serve anybody unless it's serving a citation or warrant and protecting each other's asses. It's sick and twisted. I've taught my kids they only words that should come out of their mouth to a cop is; am I being detained, am I free to go, and most importantly, LAWYER.

Mississippi also has an insane racism problem with their police. Look up the "Mississippi Goon Squad" story about the 5 cops that tried to murder 2 black men for simply existing. It's always the obstruction charge. It's the cop's "go-to" to always have an excuse to arrest. Between that and qualified immunity they can always harass anyone.

They almost always throw in a resisting charge to short circuit any lawsuits (resisting arrest gives them a blank check to torture and/or beat you to death -- and there doesn't have to be an underlying charge).

I think one of the best ways to help police self-regulate is to make it so that all lawsuit money comes from the police retirement funds, not the taxpayer. If the police are affected financially, maybe they will think twice before doing stuff like this.

1. violating traffic laws.
2. refusing to STOP when lights activated. Secreting the vehicle BEHIND a building in a wooded area. That's SCARY.
3. HAVING ILLEGAL DRUGS onboard. AND scales.
4. BEING DEFIANT thus giving the cops reason to detain and search.
If he had simply opened the windows and aired out the car and stopped on the main drag, he'd either have gotten a ticket and been on his way or been released with a warning.

The whole “Stop resisting!” thing is such a scam. I worked in a jail and the first time I was involved with subduing someone, the Sgt. started yelling “STOP RESISTING!” I looked at him like “WTF?”and he smiled and shrugged. The guywas totally complying. This is just for the cameras and for cover in future investigations. I didn’t last at that job. Disgusting.
If you worked that job long enough you would’ve realized a majority of cops are not like this.

@@dog210christian I already do. I was married to one for 13 years, worked as a civilian for a Sheriff’s Office for 10, with plenty of time in the jails. My son is a cop in the city that uses the jail I mentioned I worked briefly in. He hates going to that jail because of the people working there.
But the majority of the cops in this video are culpable for misbehavior simple because they never stepped in to stop it, preferring to maintain the status quo.

This officer was desperately searching for an excuse to go hands on. He violated their rights by denying them their right to record the interaction when no crime was committed by the passengers.

On a traffic stop, the passengers should never show ID to cops. The driver doesn't have to answer any questions or talk to the cops. Remember cops are NOT your friends.
However, they were young men. It is the reason for answering all those stupid, pointless questions.
“How long have you been in Wisconsin?” This is just fishing for another charge, since there is probably some law that says after 1 month you have to get a Wisconsin ID.

The DRIVER has to to ID, in most instances passengers have no legal obligation to ID to officers unless the officers have RAS that the passenger is/has/is about to commit a crime. Simply being IN a car getting pulled over isn't enough.

Knowing what your rights are is a crime to them.. when i asserted my rights i ended up with a broken neck , no job, no vehicle hundreds of thousands in debt, and in a federal lawsuit 13 months later still haven't been to court. Yet on the criminal side where i was charged with resisting and disorderly i was tried and convicted in under 3 months

The sad part for me was that I was an 8 year veteran with the Department of Corrections with an exemplary record. I complied because I did absolutely NOTHING wrong. Similar blue uniform but the wrong color of skin. I wound up with a resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and assualt 2(a felony). After 6 months, the criminal charges were dropped, but it took 3 years for me to be cleared of my departmental charges. Civilian Complaint Review board found that no contact occurred but didn't recommend any charges against them. Bad lawyer, so lawsuit went nowhere. I finished with 25 years of service, but it probably cost me a promotion. If only cell phone and surveillance cameras were more prevalent.

The teens told the cops that they were allowed to record, which the Supreme Court has ruled is allowed. At that point, aren’t they knowingly acting unlawfully and because of that do they lose their qualified immunity?
