Competition breeds innovation, if Xbox dies Playstation will have zero reasons to be better. And before anyone mentions Nintendo, they’re clearly going for a different approach and audience, that being the portable console/gimmick console crowd. Playstation and Nintendo aren’t in direct competition but Xbox and Playstation are, if either goes we’re screwed.
If you don’t want to live in a world where Sony is able to rap e the paypigs dry jump ship to PC where there’s actually massive amounts of competition. You can't just retroactively plaster your dying console brand name on everything that is fundamentally not an Xbox and expect people to not be confused or make fun of you for it. The Xbox isn't a multi-platform service. It IS the platform. GamePass is the service, which is what they're trying to sell you. So, they should just market GamePass directly instead of calling everything that isn't an Xbox, an Xbox. Also, if Xbox as a platform dies, then that's 1 less line of predictable, standardized hardware for devs to develop for. That's something the PC space has struggled with for years, because there is, or were, no reliable, standard configurations of PC hardware. This leads to a lot of PC games getting bad ports and overall worse performance then on consoles. However, the Steam Deck made a step in the right direction on that front. I'm just hoping Valve release a far, far more powerful home theater/mini-PC-like device (Steam Machine 2.0) that devs can use as a reliable focal-point for PC game optimization. Xbox is just so unpredictable, it's kinda sad to see...

You know what we REALLY need? Another competitor on the console market. Too long have we been reduced to 3 actual choices but there was a time where even SEGA was in the running. Say what you want about exclusivity and all that but I clearly remember how fun it was to discuss the PS3 and XBOX 360 exclusives and experiences that could potentially convince you to go try the other platform out. And despite SEGA losing in the race against the PS2, the Dreamcast WAS actually more powerful. There's just so much history and fun in exploring the different worlds of the platforms but nowadays I don't even wanna buy any new console because I just feel it will hit the PC market sooner rather than later

Literally billions of people primarily on Mobile and PC. And it seems to be working for them in terms of numbers. Both financially and things like player counts. Man dude gaming now feels weird. Like the old days all you worried about when you was going to get a console was what was the exclusives. Now it's what gimmick the console is doing, what 3rd party games the company owns, will games come to place or another, games not being finished, just giving out broken promises with the occasional perfect game, games feel the need to want to take money and nothing else now with battle passes, subscriptions, microtransactions, dlc, all that dlc is fine and I know there was some of that before hand but it wasn't the prime thing it wasn't in your face and a lot of AAA games feel bland and soulless it feels like franchises we loved are being sent to well die and become soulless. I'm with you about 60% of the way. Microsoft's strategy with Xbox has been "we don't care how or where you play, as long as you play" since the inception of Game Pass. Consoles aren't (and have never really been) super profitable- they've often even been sold at a loss by Microsoft, Sony, Sega, you name it. That's because consoles don't make money- games and licensing do. Game Pass is just a way to cut off that loss, hold more control over 3P studios, and make sure the gamer doesn't own anything. Its pretty grody. But they ARE being transparent- from the horses mouth, the future of Xbox will likely be a service, not hardware.

As a PC player who doesn’t have to live with the consequences of this I welcome Xbox going full third party because then I get to laugh hysterically as Sony fanboys get their wish for Sony to become a monopoly😂. Microsoft hasn’t even left yet any Sony is already milking the paypigs dry by raising the prices of the base consoles, and controllers (haven’t even fixed stick drift, so from a consumer’s standpoint there’s no reason for the increased price. Plus, their older controllers didn’t have drift since then they actually cared about making a good product). They’re also charging $700 for what in most cases is just a marginal upgrade that doesn’t even include the disk drive/stand, and isn’t backwards compatible with disks prior to the PS4. It’s going to be so entertaining watching this dumpster fire unfold once the competition is gone (not that Microsoft has been competing. They clearly haven’t cared since the Xbox One reveal. And Nintendo are doing their own thing)🤣

A small percentual of PlayStation players buy the exclusives games. What Xbox did here was eliminating the main reason why people buy a PS5, the wish to play Cod.

@ricln5464 This is not about the PS. This is about Xbox. But PS hardware is still selling way better than Xbox regardless of what's going on PS. Xbox sales have been going down and not improving. This gen might be the 2nd worst gen for Xbox..

What im sayng is that exclusives dont matter unless you are Nintendo, this is a pretty objective fact (the data shows it) so Xbox isn't shooting itself on the foot at all here. They got that PlayStation will sell regardless of the games, so they are expanding to other devices while being ok with Xbox selling less
