something I noticed in Fortnite regarding what you said about the bots also being used as advertisement is that very often, I spawn in the matchmaking lobby right next to a bot using a skin that will be in the shop the next day, specially if I'm playing a few hours before the shop offer daily reset. Great video btw

to me EOMM makes me want to play... Less, i still remember when this fortnite private server called era existed, i never won even once because the random sbmm meant that as someone who is ass at fortnite i was extremely unlikely to ever win, but the feeling of knowing that slowly i was killing at least a few players a match and getting better at the game even though i never won a single solos match just knowing that every kill was a real player made me actually feel something and got me to want to play the damn game nearly every day, i play the main fortnite now and like... very few matches make me feel anything because i dont know if i won due to any skill (unlikely) or just due to the game deciding i should, which removes ALL fun from the game, its the only reason i queue into ranked hoping that even though the players are better than me i might actually have SOME fun.
I feel they purposely put bots in lobby’s to expose your location to real players. Half the time I wipe a bot team I get third partied by real players.
What really sucks about bots in multiplayer games is that it’s the single player games that benefit from them most. Imagine playing an DMC like game and then the enemies feints an attack if the ai has noticed you counter a lot. Or in a srpg having the enemy take note of your strategy and adjusting how it acts to counteract it. There’s so many things that these new developments can be used for that are cool and interesting without getting in the way of an actual PvP interaction. The problem is that the ai aren’t people and thus you can’t socialise with them but it just kinda baffles me how stronger bots are only really considered in multiplayer games when really a stronger ai is vastly more suited in the PvE scenario that single player games provide.
@ literally all it’d need to do is keep track of what moves your doing and when you use them, if the game sees you auto combo constantly the ai would start blocking more often. It’d really just be a basic algorithm really, if player does option D 40% of the time then ai should use option G more for example.
@@banbanthebandit4002 An interesting idea but you'd have to like program a limit for the bot to hit, and a HARD limit or something. Because if the bot's allowed to learn forever, Your normal difficulty can quickly get much tougher.
I honestly believe that there should be a law about the bot manipulation tactics I.e. player count botting(to fill in the lobby), comment botting, like botting etc . Banning it if they’re using it without labeling it since it’s misleading.. now just wait until A.I level of bots are introduced with the ability to give prompt responses either through chat input or audio.
Agreed. I can just imagine the horror of online players being tricked into thinking they are developing a friendship with a real person over several years (like in an MMO) and it turns out it was AI the entire time.

I like having optional bots for offline servers so I can go back and play high player count pvp games longer after the playerbase left ft. Battlefield 2142
older games had bots that were incredibly good, the put limiters on them in new games to be easy, like only being able to pivot a certain number of degrees per second, and followign down the center of a path
I had to watch this a 2nd time since it was peak and about technology. Keep up the good work as always with the commentary and editing Brad. Things will get better overtime. 👍
Most painful part of getting smoked by bots is that you can't even insult them afterwards; even if you try, you just become a shmuck yelling at the screen 😭
As someone who learnt how to abuse bot lobbies on fortnite so I could stop dealing with sweats, I can say bot lobbies is a blessing! No offense to people who like to sweat, I play games for fun, not to watch little timmy show off the 9999 crown wins. But I def can understand why people also hate bots, the fact people do enjoy games in a competitive sense, and even find it fun. If that's the case, they deserve the freedom to choose to fight bots only or not. The fact most multiplayer games don't give that option is really sad.
@strisselstudios3932 understandable, the system is very easy. Just make a fresh epic account, then put the fresh epic account on one of these two platforms. Switch-mobile, by doing so the account gets bot lobbies, then force the account to leave every match before the bus countdown finishes. Boom, a fresh account that never gains experience! (Be warned, this only works for the main zero build/build battle royale, it doesn't work on reload.)
Its really hard for a bot to pass of in fighting game... Fighting games are the most expressive forms of gaming there is, everyone fights different even with the same character, it doesn't take long for a high level player to tell its a bot or a player using scripts to cheat one or two matches tops.
Happy belated Birthday, Brad! I know things are tough right now, but just keep putting one foot in front of the other and try not to look back for too long. Eventually you'll find yourself at a much better place.
I'm kinda shocked not a lot of people talked about the bots in infinite getting progressively better throughout the beta up until they were styling on then teabagging you. The forge was lightning in a bottle that 343 somehow continued to catch. More games need to do it and 343 needs to take the effort that went into it and apply it to the rest of the game.

I personally love fighting bots over people, people are often unpredictable and weird or weirdly predictable with how they play bots come with a variety of quirks that allow them to stand out like a sore thumb no matter how advanced but knowing how a bot works and playing around it like an impromptu puzzle game I find is so much more intereating, I don't like that devs are disguising the bots as actual players and I especially don't like that they give them the disguise but none of the other quirks that other players have, but I suppose their sheer numbers can often make encountering actual players and their often unique experiences all the more special. I do like playing at dead hours though and getting to witness mosh pits of bots being very bad at fighting but them I've always had a soft spot for bot battles. Edit: CS1.6 but the CTs all only have knives and riot shields is terrifying especially when it's only you and a friend fighting a team of 24+ :p

its really funny that people are so amazed by ai robots learning to play a video game. and then they ignore that it took *50000* attempts to get past not immediately losing in most cases. This is like if a 3 year old was playing. its not learning. its mathmatically going through every possibility until it gets to the right one. its really not the same. it doesnt experiment. it doesnt study whats happening. It doesnt try anything different from its current algorithm. It brute forces it. Humans dont brute force things. As it is ai will never get to the level of humans. It's just an algorithm that runs for a long time until it "solves" the issue. That's a useful tool. But that's all it is. A useful tool.
