  • Kyrgyzstan is one of the five countries in Central Asia with recorded history spans over 2,000 years, encompassing a variety of cultures and empires.
Although geographically isolated by its highly mountainous terrain, this has helped preserve its ancient culture, Kyrgyzstan has been at the crossroads of several great civilisations as part of the Silk Road and other commercial and cultural routes.
We started our journey in Bishkek: green and vibrant capital. Issyk-Kul was our next obvious destination. Area around the lake is famous for water sports, hikes and horse riding. Bizarre mountains along the southern coast will leave you impressed. We started our loop around the lake from Cholpon Ata, resort town on the northern slops of Issyk Kul, there we checked Petrogliphs Museum and thermal springs.
Karakol has a lot to offer for travellers and we took advantage of it. We headed to Altyn Arashan for a day hike and stayed for the night in the yurt there - quite unique experience. Our next stop was Jeti-Oguz with its Seven Bulls mountains and broken heart and we should admit that it broke our hearts as well.
On the way to Bokonbaevo we stoped at Fairytale canyon and we really felt like we got to some sort of fairytale, there are few less touristy canyons in the area so you might want to find them to be off the beaten path thou. Luckily for us, we joined a group of travellers and ended up at the eagle hunting demonstration: really impressive thousands years old tradition. Bokondaevo impressed us with its horse riding. Day-long trip in the high mountains we will remember for a long time.
Back to Bishkek and straight to Osh City in Southern Kyrgyzstan. Here we visited Arslanbob with its Walnut forest and beautiful mountains, local Kyrgyz wedding and Sary-Tash area. That’s short description of out journey in Kyrgyzstan and for more check this video.
If we need to describe Kyrgyzstan in a few words then it would be: fantastic hikes, great horse riding and welcoming people!

It is not true that you need to go negotiate on everything and everywhere. You guys got a 10 som (15 cents) decrease not because it is cheaper for 10 som to get to Skazka but because the driver just didn't care about those 15 cents. Whether you go to Skazka or Bokonbaevo it is a fixed price of 150 som.

Интересно а теперь 150 сом переведи в доллары это будет 1,77$, мне интересно, а сколько будет стоит в вашей стране за такое расстояние уже в вашей стране ... Мы местные платим больше за такое расстояние.

Overall I like this video, a lot of information and details. I will go there next week so some information is useful for me. However, I feel you complain transportation (or other) price too much. Is that possible your expected price is too low? It would be nice if you gave the new couple some gift in the wedding (maybe you did, just not in the video).

That was super interesting! My dream place to go some day !! One addition: either learn Russian or Kyrgyz before going! As the mother language of Kyrgyz is Kyrgyz hahahah but if you know Turkish you’ll be good too
    In the Video for example
    Gulzhan - Gülcan = it’s a name
    Banya - Banyo = Bath >> Sauna
Karakol - karakol = Police station
    Ata - Ada = Mountain
Saridash - Sarıtaş = yellow stone > probably the mountain area has or had a famous natural stone that is famous
    Hahahah it’s so funny

Hey I found your website after doing some research on van builds. I'm a dumb shit and can't remember (André?) but I worked with one of you two on M/Y Pacific. I left in Fiji. You guys put a tonne of work into this video. I have actually been to Krygyzstan myself, I rode in on a bicycle from Tajikistan and left as I entered China, I had way too short a time in Kyrgyzstan. I hope you are able to keep occupied (even if it's just editing work) during C-19.

What a surprise, Andy! Of course I remember you, some time ago I wanted to check how are you doing but it seems that you’ve abandoned facebook. How are you doing, mate? What are you up to? Planing to build a camper van?
We’ve been to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan couple of months ago and now it’s perfect time for editing. Actually with Coronavirus I hope that we will manage to finish everything as we still have a new camper van build planed for after pandemic.

    • @And-rc9yy
      @And-rc9yy 4 роки тому +2

@@ExplorationBrothers Hey Andrei. I dropped social media as a way of protecting some of the more unique and fragile areas that I had explored and photographed. I hope that doesn't sound critical of your endeavours. I see absolutely nothing wrong with promoting travel as long as we're careful and responsible, as I'm sure you two are. Too many of my photographs on social media were from super fragile locations. I didn't like the fact that I was partially responsible for people loving a location to death. Regarding VanLife; yes I've been toying with the idea of doing a van conversion. I suspect I will end up doing another bike trip beforehand. I'm contemplating cycling back through Europe to Kazakhstan and over into China, then crossing into Vietnam. As usual there are some bureaucratic hurdles and of course this darned pandemic. I've bookmarked your website and so I'll keep checking up to see what you guys are doing, best of luck.
