Good video but just a little feedback. I am an American expat that has been living now for three years. Your video seems like a previous video that has the same videos and images that is outdated. For example, the buses and vans date back to the former Soviet Union. Today Bishkek has a fleet of new electric trolleys and some old trolleys. These trolleys represent Bishkeks major improvement in public transportation and they are spacious and comfortable. Recently Bishkek has also added a new fleet of buses that run on clean natural gas. Both buses and trolleys cost 11 soms//13 cents US. In reference to literacy please understand that this really needs to be updated. There are major American and British schools that focus on English and many adults and kids have full access to these schools. Bishkek is also home to the new American University of Central Asia with staff from the US, Britain and many other countries. Literacy rates have soared over the years and many Kyrgyz and Russians speak English. As someone who is grateful to be living here, it is important to point out the facts of Bishkek today and not from the past. We have towering apartment buildings under construction in the city center and a new shopping center. Bishkek is growing, the culture is alive and history remains intact. One final note, it is unfair to continue repeating that there is a rumor that taxi drivers are always drunk. I use Yandex a lot and I know many of the drivers personally. In the past after the collapse of the Soviet Union it was true. Today Yandex has a fleet of new Toyotas, Kias and Mercedes Benz to meet the needs of different budgets. These drivers are mostly family men who take pride in their work and service. My advice to you is that next time, take the time to walk the districts, listen to the people, ask questions and you will discover a Bishkek that most UA-camrs fail to do. Get out there and really get the feel of the land. Just some feedback that I hope will help.

Bishkecks is not interesting. Very Soviet. Parks don’t make a city popular. It’s an art or an architecture what interests tourist. Food is not my favorite. Tourist shows with goats and horses were cruel to me. It’s a country of very friendly but loud people. Sleeping in yurt wasn’t great / bathroom/. The landscapes in the mountains are awesome and trails were absolutely fantastic.

I had a contract with the UN & traveled to Bishkek five times in 2005 - 2006. Wonderful country, I enjoyed it very much. I remember lining up to buy the visa upon arrival & it was, at the time $50.00 for most people but for Americans it was $100.00. Even the Canadians got the $50.00 price. I loved Bishkek & it is very walk-able with lots of wonderful buildings. At that time restaurants were limited but I think much more now. I remember that "Fat boys" was a great hangout. The country is 80% Muslim but in Bishkek they were really laid back & there were no problems. When I flew over to Osh is was more conservative & it was necessary to be more careful. But, Osh has a charm of it's own. I hope now they have better hotels as Osh was a bit basic. I'm getting an inch to return now reading these comments!

Kyrgyzstan is one of the best nomadic countries. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the Mongolian-Turkish nomadic countries, are truly wonderful countries. In particular, the Mongols are the world's best horse riding nomadic people. The next best horse riding peoples in the world are the Kazakhs and Kyrgyz of Mongolia in Central Asia. Additionally, Mongolia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Northern China, and Russia are notorious for being some of the coldest countries in the world. So, you have to go well armed. Buddhist temples exist not only in Kyrgyzstan but also in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Buddhist temples are cool. I enjoyed watching the video.👍

Digital Nomad Status in Kyrgyzstan is hardly digital - you will have to meet no less than 11 government clerical widgets face to face and EVERY document will have to be translated from english and into Kyrgyz - typically 600-700 som a shot. and of course - you will need a local lawyer to navigate the ever expanding and pedantic maze of requirements and paperwork. The event will be no less than 500 USD - *NOT DIGITAL* *NOT ONLINE*

There are NOT alot of Americans here - there are less than 2000 in the entire country - and most of those are on official 'post' employment. The load, speeds on the wifi are nowhere near 4 G - many days you are lucky to get over 3 G. Local Buses (7:47) marshyrtka - an old Mercedes van that they pack 35-40 people in at a time for inner city travel. There is NO NEED to ask for salt in Kyrgyzstan it is EVERY where - you can even get salted yogurt balls as a 'treat' Kyryt (as you said)
As a Yankee Guy that speaks Russian and has been in Bishkek for 8 years - it is not an English friendly country - especially in the remote regions. The big hotels and franchise will speak English - but it is hit and miss the rest of the country.

Also what you find weird is totally normal for people from that region. Maybe different than what you're used to, but definitely not weird. You talk as if youre not aware of your privilege and as if your worldview is the norm. Anyways, i understand you probably dont mean no harm, just my point of view :)

Very biased attitude. It looks as if the person has not been to the country but is judging by the videos posted by other bloggers.

Do you think solo female travel is safe?

Yes it’s safe. I am local and I see many solo women travellers also only women travellers. Guys will not disturb you, people are calm and respectful for tourists. But if u consider hiking high mountains or you are alpinists I would suggest you to take someone else with u and inform hotel or someone, cause we had situation when tourists got lost, but later found by rescuers.
