there are way more fishing lures catching fishermen than there are lures catching fish. 90% of fish are in 10% of the water. What Brain is saying is wayyyyyyyyyyy more important than anything anyone has said in a longggg time. I have a new level of respect for Brian now.
Just wanted to take the time to let you know how much I appreciate your authenticity/ honesty. I am newer to fishing and of course I have gone a little overboard the past few years with tackle 😂 You are one of the first and few fisherman that I have been following over these past few years. Just wanted to say thank you for all you do. Also, I am very interested in learning more about fish behavior/patterns/etc. If you are going to be putting out more of those types of videos in the future, it will not in vain 😊
Brian! Where was this video $3,000 ago... :) I love this message. I have to stop myself all the time from thinking I need to buy my way with more stuff into having better success. I literally started a fish journal this year just to help me keep track of what works. And more importantly, what the conditions were when it worked. So I can start figuring how to better approach each day I'm out there. So great message today. Thank you!!!
Thanks for your honesty, a very underated attribute these days! Great showing of personal integrity. I for one, will be much more inclined to believe any review of tackle or gear you post is truly how you feel! Bravo!
You're exactly right about people worried too much about the equipment and not enough about the pattern of the fish they are trying to catch. I'm coming back into fishing after a long time off and I only have a few rods and reels. I would like to understand the patterns as to better allow me to catch a bass when I'm fishing. There's no need to have 5 rods if your not catching anything, I need to understand the "why" in why I'm not catching anything.
I’ve been a fan of you as a person for a long time. Straight shooter. I can count on one hand the people that I give my attention to. Appreciate the realness
Best $100 I have spent so far in my young fishing career was entry into one of BLat’s SUF school classes. Learned so much REAL info. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Brian!
The one thing that I never hear about on any kind of video is….. It’s work! The more you study about what your going after. ie bass, deer or whatever. The more successful you’ll be! Fishing, is time on the water!!! I professionally fished for 30 years. One of the best teachers I ever had told me is time on the water the more time you put in the more successful you’ll be.
The realest. Wisdom man. This is true of everything in life. All you need is a worm a spinnerbait and a frog and you can catch a bass. We can overcomplicate something beautiful and simple: being in tune with a body of water and its fish.
@@andrewboyce7268 use a jig...or use a piece of plastic with a sinker if you like. I am just saying keep it simple. Bass fishing is about knowing where they are more so than having the magical bait and I think that's the point Brian is making that I agree with. Get you something for the top middle and bottom and go find em.
120% agree with this video. I sometimes get into worrying too much on what gear I should get and forget to focus on just getting out and. fishing. The more you fish the more you can learn about fishing. I have 3 rods that I use and that is it. My tackle box is truly on geared towards the two rivers I enjoy fishing at. Great video Brian.
Very well said, young man. Most amateur golfers try to BUY a better swing. The right 'tool' is important. But.. you have to be proficient for it to be meaningful.
Amen testify brother, speak the truth and the truth shall set you free! I watch alot of vids and besides finding the fish I think the most important thing is the retrieve, but so many focus on color and gear just like you said. thanks
Thank you I’ve been doing this since 1981 and you one of the first pros I’ve heard that makes sense in a long time. It’s not about just buying although that’s necessary it’s learning about fish and their seasonal environment- I’m with you 100% and definitely a new subscriber Thanks Brian let’s teach the young a sport we love - Thank you
Bro this is so true. It’s unreal lol I used to fish a lot as a kid with my dad, I’m 26 now and live in Texas right next to lake Lewisville. So I picked up fishing about 2 months ago and am stuck in this loop of go fishing , catch nothing, watch UA-cam, buy bait , go fishing , catch nothing , back to UA-cam, buy different bait.
This is the equivalent of telling a basketball player to not focus on the details of your shoes or arm sleeve but focus on perfecting your game. B-Lat I appreciate you so much man. I needed this lol.
Videos like this are exactly why i love your channel. You're always honest about stuff. I love watching other channels on YT but a lot of them tend to go down the rabbit hole too much and make people think they need an exact rod, or bait to be successful....thats just simply not true, in MOST circumstances.
I love it when you help me to “get understanding“, not trying to be funny or anything but I do you understand what you’re saying and I won hundred percent agree. I really appreciate you putting yourself out there and being honest when it’s not always easy. just wanted to say that I appreciate you and your efforts are appreciated.
AWESOME TIP AND ADVICE, you nailed it brother. I myself spend too much time scrolling through tackl sites than I do learning where the fish are at a certain time of year. Again, great tip.
PLEASE do more videos talking about fish behavior. Once I started asking why would the fish be here instead of where are the fish, my catch rate skyrocketed often times being the only angler at my local reservoir with success. Good example, yesterday watched a guy throwing a buzz bait for an hour and a half over weed cover from 7pm till 830 on a bright hot day. When he finally gave up i immediately went to the spot threw a wacky Senko and landed one first cast. Cracked me up. Knew they were in the weeds. Your video on lay downs was great btw. From one Brian to another awesome video.
One of the biggest things I like about B Lat and his videos is he talks facts I’ve rarely ever heard him throw in a plug on a bait etc like a sponsor paying him. He wants to help more then sell imo. Thanks for keeping it real Brian
That's good to put emphasis on the point of buying all this gear, and it's to catch fish, we do need to learn fish behavior in order to best know when and where to use all that gear.
Please give a list of what a person should carry in the boat or bank fishing. Tackle is honestly making things no fun anymore and anxious to much to choose from. Same with rods and reels. I want to simplify. Your opinion would be great!
Brain you nailed it. I’ve been learning from for a while and tell you the things you have taught me are priceless. Simple way is the way to go. Helps you learn your rod reel and the bait your fishing well. Thanks
That’s so true. It always amazes me when I actually get lucky and find fish at how easy they are to catch. And how I can fish all day with little to nothing to show then all of a sudden out of nowhere get bit and boat 5-6 bass in a few minutes. But that’s also what always keeps me going back. Say sing man I can’t wait to get that lucky again. I’d love to see lots of videos on finding fish consistently. There’s so many videos with so much info it just overwhelms me. A nice series of SIMPLE ways to find them. Even though it’s just not simple. The concept is simple. But the act is allot like finding a Bigfoot lol. Thanks for another good video.
Great message Brian! Nothing beats time on the water. Doesn't matter if you have the newest/hottest bait on the market... if they are not biting it, then you might as well through a blank hook and hope one is curious enough to bite it.
You made so much since. Thank you for being real. I’m new at it…..well since a kid. I enjoy watching you but I must say this is the best video yet! Thank you
Would absolutely love good teaching about fish behavior and understanding. I only have access to less than 200 feet of a shared farm pond, so I don't get to practice and try out much.
Hey B. Thanks for your videos. I found your channel by accident, subscribed because I liked the content and being a fellow South Carolinian. Honestly though, what made you my favorite UA-camr is your honesty. 1st time I saw you say "use the rod, reel, line" you have and learn the technique before buying equipment, I was hooked. Keep it up!
Hi Brian. I am in SA but love you vids. I learn a lot and apply the basics and it works. Would like to fish with you one day but will never happen. Not in my life time.
I am a pretty terrible fisherman. My time on the lake is a good time for me to chill out, listen to the Bible and enjoy some nature. Sometimes I even get to catch some fish.
This video was awesome! I needed to hear it. I preach the same thing in the health and fitness space daily. Far too many people want to know what supplements they should be taking and what’s the best workouts. It’s not that complicated. Simplify coupled with consistent execution over an extended period of time will yield the results desired. I’m sure you would say the same thing with fishing 🎣 💪🏼
Too many frustrating trips on the water…. Just getting beat up….. that’s the biggest problem is finding fish, where to look for them. More videos on this please.
“Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.” Proverbs 4:5 NIV “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 NIV Think we can apply both of these to fishing knowledge and experience, and not equipment
Good morning fam, THANK YOU for spittin facts , THIS is the TRUE content , and I appreciate you and your time on the water to make me a BETTER and more EFFICIENT Professional Champion Bass Fisherman , and if I may ask you, have you fished Pickwick, and if so, may I ask you some questions please.
Brian! What you're saying here is so refreshing! Personally, I'm weary of the tackle salesmen that have flooded the UA-cam fishing community! I want the info on how to fish more effectively, and how to be a better angler.
nice vid, BLat! You’re right, it’s so easy to get caught up in latest tackle to try while you can order right on your phone. And yes, that was close to a bible verse! lol
This is why I wanna fish with him. It's gonna be Hella fun, I know for a fact that I'm gonna learn alot and I'm guaranteed to leave a better fisherman. Plus it's B. Latt so we fishing fishing!
I've been learning how to try to figure out the fish behavior at my like it's a tough lake but I am very limited to where I can fish when it comes to bank fishing. I do have a kayak but unfortunately my truck is been broke down I got it for a Christmas present and I only got to go out on it once. I did catch a nice six-pounder though real thick in lily padd

Yup, Everyone wants the easy button. Experience is key but for a lot of us water time is hard to find.
Thanks for your honesty, a very underated attribute these days! Great showing of personal integrity. I for one, will be much more inclined to believe any review of tackle or gear you post is truly how you feel! Bravo!
I got caught up in the tackle/gear buying thing when I got into bass fishing. Now I need to have a garage sale!
I genuinely appreciate the honesty.

WOW. Finally, honesty! Thank you Brian.
Always! The listener only wants to hear what they expect
