    Love how modern "Christianity" has moved to analysis on how to succeed, since loving your neighbor and your enemies, helping the poor and needy, and laying down your life for others has fallen into such unpopularity.

    The reason that young people or any age people are leaving the church is because most churches leave very little if any room for Christ, if Christ is in the church and the Holy Spirit is allowed to lead I promise no one will leave. Unfortunately today's modern church doesn't allow God to be a part.

    The internet, the information age and growing trend toward skepticism is the number one reason Christianity and religion in general is in serious decline. The meme... "The internet is where religion comes to die." has never been more true than it is now.

So its quite evident the 6 days taken to create the world is cosmic days. Its been over 6000 years since the 7th day began but still its not over. The church lost me @Genesis. At 6yrs old hearing the Adam&Eve story made NO sense to me. I was that kid asking a truckload of questions & being scolded for questioning.when I moved from my parents home I never went back to church except for weddings & funerals. Why you might ask? Well actually reading the Bible was the last nail in the coffin for me.

    It's more than one in ten young people that loose their faith completely. In Canada atheism has doubled in the last two decades and the number of young skeptics atheists and agnostics now outnumber any single religion. This is a change I welcome and it gives me hope for a sane and rational future.

    Let's see - children are very spiritual, teens are somewhat spiritual, then suddenly, young adults stop going to church. Could it possibly be that the amount of control (physical and emotional) parents hold drops over time?

      probably! around 12-15 is that pivotal stage in development where we begin asking questions about everything - particularly existential stuff - and by the time 18 rolls around we've soaked in enough information to reach our own conclusions. I think youth leave the church for a myriad of other reasons as well, but I do agree that a lot of it is the developmental "whys" and "whats." I'm 17 and I'm still a particularly devout Christian - and tbh the less my parents were involved the more I actually got interested in learning about God for myself.

    hmm, food for thought. I was raised in the Christian ethos as a kid. I could see the hypocrisy as I grew up, could see it in myself.
    Left school and left home for my first job and had a great time. Great until my 20's when I really started to search for meaning to life. The Occult looked promising, I was into UFO's and stuff...loved the X Files series. The Church was the last place I was looking at. I didnt disagree with the idea of a Grand Designer behind all things and I didnt dispute the Bible. I dont know why but hadnt met anyone who could explain it. I then met a Christian whos testimony really amazed me. He led me to the Lord. There was trouble from friends and family, but the most awkward were the established Churches in the Town. Go figure....
    Anyway, I hope you all go and live your lives. I strayed too, for a long while, but life wasnt any better...just wait till you get to my age (pretty old) and have witnessed a few tragic events in your life. You can return anytime....

    Most people leave christianity becoz they discover that it’s not true. The internet is the greatest teacher. As a former christian who left the faith after 25 years i can say that information and a spirit of digging for the truth has set me free. I know the christian way of thinking, the world view, the, the bias, the tactics and most of all the dogma. For me, the soon i puled my head out of the ground and saw the light, the real light, there was no turning back. I’m free now from all their emotional manipulations, intellectual embargo and SPIRITUAL TERRORISM.

And you'll never get it because you'll always believe that God is a general and gets to "Enforce."

    There’s actually a trend of this age group moving into the liturgical churches, I.e., Anglican, Orthodox, and Roman Catholic. I’m a part of the first but recently visited an Orthodox Church in our area and found it full of young families. I was amazed! The Anglican Church, in particular, values the intellect more than what I’ve found in many of the evangelical circles.

    I am pleased this is not a problem in our church, which began in the 70's on a major campus by students, who were willing to ask the questions about the church they were raised in. The goal of knowing who God is, how He still works in our daily lives and how it is relevant to us personally. If you do not know these things it is something that remains outside yourself. God is a personal God. while He is indeed Holy He is also very intimate, He can be both. Our church right now is 2/3 teens and college students from a total membership of 3000+. we have a great system that makes church personal and intimate, with the knowledge and the fellowship of peers necessary for growth. I thank God for this church and the 2 guys who were brave enough to ask the questions, and do what was needed. Churches today need to stop functioning as businesses and more like the churches of Acts. Its too personal to work that way plus they never seem to focus on their purpose as a church, to create disciples not spectators. Disciples have purpose they leave the church because they have found no purpose in it for themselves, a real tangible purpose for their faith and relationship with God.

    I think these days that young adults want to believe in things that make sense. They have no need for fairytales and want to see facts and evidence. Science can provide that but religion cannot and is reluctant to change. Young people are not as gullible as they once were and just having blind faith won't do it. I don't think these speakers have any clue as to what young people are thinking. It is not about challenging them, it is about suppressing their ability to think. Religion has been doing that for centuries. Honestly religion dying out is probably the best thing that has happened in centuries. I personally don't think it can come fast enough. And for all those people who are offended by that just stop and think: would removing faith in something with no evidence really make that much difference in your life? And be honest about that! Don't listen to your parents, teachers or your friends. Think about it on a personal level. You will most likely come to the conclusion that removing religion would make absolutely no difference. If anything it would most likely make our lives much better.

    You have your three categories for those who leave the worship structure that you present for them. However, you don't have a category titled; "We didn't meet their needs". Young people are very perceptive and won't commit their lives to a faulty worship structure. Until you stop looking for the fault in your young people and start looking at the fault in your own method of leadership, you will never solve the problem. I don't know if this is true for your organisation or not, but maybe the problem is you!?

    For me, it was all the hate Christanity teaches people, but it was also that I looked into Christanity and found that it is based on mythological fary tails, and when I was a Christan, I never believed the Christian teachings on Masturbation, sex out side of Marriage, or being gay, or that person should burn in hell forever because of their world view, or theology belief, were good, or true, I have grown out of that evil garbage, I have risen above it. Truth about Jesus? Any one with goggle and two minutes can find profe that he is just a man made mythological fear based control program, based on the sun, and it's movements in the sky, and Zodiac. Scripture has no Authority over my life, I am free, these Christian men do not have a clue, the gosple is not truth, it is a control program put together by the Roman empire, and teaches fear, and blind obedience.

    The reason why they are leaving is they are inquisitive, open-minded, search the internet for opinions on philosophical,scientific,historical subjects and moral questions, from BOTH sides: Secular and the Christian world view. The church is stuck in the 16th century fighting the Reformation. Young adults have moved on to considering whether artificial intelligence is rightly a "new life" form. They are considering issues like whether artificial intelligence will deserve equal human rights once it attains self-awareness and free volition. The Bible does NOT address this.

    • @maxalberts2003
      @maxalberts2003 2 роки тому

      Actually it does, and its instructions on such matters are uniformly negative: keep a low profile, remain a sheep, don't have "false Gods before me," i.e., artificial intelligence, the life of the mind, meditation practices, etc. Don't value the Self, don't honor the natural world, keep authority in the hands of men, etcetera etcetera, ad nauseum. And always envision the Apocalypse around the corner. Further, no matter how liberals try to get around it, the Bible DOES condemn homosexuality of both women and men, in both the Old and the New Testaments, and the Book of Leviticus would be a great Freudian joke if an entire people hadn't been ENFORCED ON PAIN OF DEATH to take it seriously. READ IT PEOPLE. LEARN WHAT IT SAYS. IF YOUR VALUES ARE "BIBLICAL" LOOK ELSEWHERE THAN TOWARD ME FOR FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORT. Then ask yourselves why people in great numbers are fleeing the death trip that is the Christian Church.

      Joyce Long well, they're wrong. if you truly believe that Jesus was God's son, and accept him as your Lord and savior, nothing can separate you from Him. I know churches all around the world can behave like ass - be judgemental, hypocritical, not behave at all like they talk they should... But that's _not_ what God is. God is different than the bad and lackluster experiences you had and people you were around in church. They think they're doing His will but they make a lot of mistakes. Which, mistakes are okay, everybody makes them... But you're allowed to feel hurt by them, too. So, if you ever feel ready to move past that church, I think you should talk to God about it. Pray for that church. Pray for all the crappy dusty churches around the world, lol. That his provision would improve them. I hope you find a great church with good outreach and good services that God resides firmly in someday.

    If people want to go to hell and love their sin that is their decision.

    • @astromoonie
      @astromoonie 6 років тому

      Simon Hedger compassion is the point and foundation of Christianity. of course it's their choice, of course it's their decision and therefore whatever consequence that follows is theirs to grapple with, but chridtians can't just sit still in the church and be off to ourselves and ignore problems. that's the exact opposite of what we've been called to do. no word of God's will go unheard, sure, but if there are churches out there en masse that are not teaching the word in the best way they can and making church an open, comfortable place where anyone can be vulnerable, then that makes it our fault, too. We have a responsibility to do our best to be welcoming and kind and have the strongest outreach we possibly can, to be attentive to the woes of the world around us.

    maybe the reason they are leaving is because they don't buy into the bullshit book anymore.

      Have you read it? Do you Know what a great book that is and what an amazing power there is in that book for who ever believe. I dont think so and its because of your lack of faith. God is more Alive than you can ever imagine and hes Word is burning in each one of us who believe in him. Its sad that the generations of this days refuse forgiveness like its something to be earned. Greets from Sweden and God bless!😊🌺

      anna larsson I've read the entire bible 3 times, I can tell you that it is one of the worst things the human race has ever created. It makes good people think doing bad things is justified.

      Sorry but i dont understand what you are saying there-"it makes good people think doing bad things is justified". Like what? Please be more specific :)

      anna larsson stoning gays, non virgins, children, and non believers ring a bell?

    • @1chadia
      @1chadia 9 років тому +1

      Well.. im not sure youve read the same book as me...? Jesus tells us that we shall not judge and we Will not be judged. So stoning gays, non believers , non virgins and children its definelty not true. Its not My Job as a believer to judge you But Christ alone, its only God who can judge us. And allthough you may not be Christian i shall love you as Christ loved us and died for us when we still was sinners. The bible teaches us moral and how we should be to athor people, for an example love those who hate you and bless athors and you shall be blessed and forgive and your Will be forgivenen. It really teaches us to fight evil with good., for have you ever seen a firefigther who fights fire with fire? Well i dont think so. Stoning somebody for doing wrong things is to fight evil with evil and thats wrong. The gospel is our only weapon.

    The church looses people all the time because the revelation of the body of Christ is lacking in the church! Christians that leave the faith either never got saved in the first place and went to church, or they got saved and just never got discipled by strong, spiritually mature, powerful Christians! The kingdom of heaven is not just words, but demonstration of the spirit and power of the Lord! Too many churches are just talking, not even about the right things and are powerless today that's why

    Its really simple. They are leaving because they have figured out it is false like most religions.

    This young guy is very wise.
    The sad part of the 3 examples he mentions is that the church isn't educated enough, (nor trying to) to help people in these situations.
    The church represses people and their struggles. People "hold-it-in" until they can't anymore- and just leave. We have to talk to people and teach them.

    Youth are leaving the church because they are better educated. They have instant access to information now. so it's much easier to realize that they are being lied to by their pastors. and parents.

    1. Nomad (Wanderer)
    2. Prodigal (Reckless)
    3. Exile (Outcast)
    4. Reason & Logic - Someone who uses rationality and not fairytales to explain normal events in life. Like an atheist or non-believers like myself whom used this to escape the ignorance of our religious upbringing. How convenient that he forgets to put this in his book.

    Some of us have left "christianity" because we actually studied the Bible for ourselves and found all the false worship and false teachings of "christianity" to be seriously lacking in the Truth of the Word. Christianity is full of doctrines of demons. Why do "christians" worship "Jesus" when the Only Begotten Son of Elohim was not called "Jesus" His name was Hebrew, Yahhoshua-"Joshua" if you want to use the English form of His name. I mean how long can such a hypocritical false religion last?

      Jesus is just the Greek form of Yeshua/Joshua, which as you said is Hebrew. Both of these mean 'to deliver' or 'to rescue'. English today mostly stems from Greek though. Also, the early church had great roots in Greece, such as Corinth and Colossae.
