Well yes Stolas is a hypocrite because the breakup isn’t just Blitz’s fault it’s both of theirs.
Yes Blitz couldn’t really meet Stolas and have the conversation about what they wanted
But Stolas says multiple times that He never insinuated ever that he thought of blitz as lesser.
That the fact that he only thought the relationship was sex was because Blitzo couldn’t see him romantically
But one in episode one Stolas clearly only shows sexual interest in Blitz and in other episodes he called blitz an “itty bitty imp”
We know Stolas was attempting to be playful because he cares but from Blitzos perspective
It makes sense he thought he was looking down on him.

They really need to become friends first without any transaction if they really want to have any relationship in the future.
But the problem from Stolis's side is that he has this strict idea of what he expects to happen with Bltiz that he's too emotionally fragile to face reality. He’s just not ready to have a conversation to listen to what Blitzo wants.
Stolis is only human and can have only so much patience with Blitzo. If Stolis was mentally healthy, and if Blitzo wasn’t Blitzo, he would have given him space to decide.
Still, they really need to connect and get to know each other. It wouldn’t surprise me that they were unaware of their hang-ups.

But the thing is though every single time the show frames Stolas doing something wrong. He always has an excuse or justification for it.

I think there's a fundamental flaw with the argument here, and that's the notion that full moon was just trying to "end the transaction." It was trying to end the transaction, yes, but it was also Stolas trying to get into a romantic relationship with Blitzø. The whole point of calling Stolas out on these things is because the has refuses to do it for the current duration of the series. There's a pretty clear bias with these latest episodes and it's not towards Blitzø. They're going out of their way to try and demonize Blitzø and any amount of self reflection on Stolas's part is either non existent, or met with "no no no he's a motherfucker." You've also got to consider just how exactly stolas went about this relationship. The quote of "I don't look down on you, when have I ever?" Is a textbook hypocrite. This entire series he's been saying things like "my impish little plaything" "itty bitty imps like yourself" "you are so cute when you are serious" and calling him "Blitzy" despite him hating all of it. When you consider that imps are a race in hell, not a species, it starts to become clearer why this is such a problem. Replace "imp" with any human race. All of the sudden those quotes become something like "my black little plaything" "itty bitty asians like yourself" etc. That's obviously very fucked up and not something you would ever say to a romantic partner. He also doesn't treat any Imp besides Blitzø as an equal. He doesn't even call Moxxie or Millie by their names once in the entire series. Arguably the 2 people closest to Bltizø besides Loona, and he doesn't even learn their names. Even after all of that, the day he wants to change things, he didn't give bltizø even so much as a heads up that things were going to change and he goes about changing them in a very, albeit unintentional, manipulative way. Blitzø expected this to only be about sex, and as such was blindsided and put into panic mode when stolas asks for the book back permanently, with no further elaboration. Then asks him to stay with him after essentially giving him a replacement book that he can keep. Imagine if someone gave you a gift that your livelihood hinges on, and said "will you date me?" Wouldn't go over well. Now all this being said, we still have 3 episodes left this season, and it's entirely possible that we'll see stolas have to own his mistakes and see a reconciliation between him and Blitzø.

I get where you're coming from, but the thing is, Blitzø wasn't wrong. Could he have been nicer to stole us about it, sure, but he's not wrong about Stolas being a hypocrite and doing the same shit royals do. Cuz think about what Stolas did.
He waited till Blitzø got there, first thing he does is ask for the book back permanently, his words, then he gives Blitzø the crystal, says that their situationship is over and that he doesn't have to come see him. But adding that he wants him to. Not once in that conversation did he actually ask Blitzø what he would like. He didn't ask him what he would want and he made no effort to understand Blitzø's side in this. He just ran away when he didn't get the answer that he wanted. He knew that this relationship was built on transactional reasons and his idea of how to get out of it was basically with another transaction... That you didn't even talk to him about beforehand?
Like yes the episode points out that Blitzø has hurt many people in his past, but the thing is, he never denies that he did shit wrong. This isn't just to point out that he's a bad person, it's the point out his self-loathing and self-destructive tendencies. Blitzø hates himself. Everyone else is just piling on to him and constantly pointing out him as a problem. Verosika does it, so this Stolas, neither of whom recognize their own faults. Verosika has been throwing the same pity party for a decade, her reasoning being to help other people get over what Blitzø did, but let's be quite honest. She had a shity boyfriend who left her when when she told him that she loved him. That sucks, that's incredibly shity, however Blitzø is not worth all this, especially for over a decade. And if we're going to talk about how Blitzø was incredibly rash in their relationship, then it's fair to bring up Stolas's casual racism of imps. The amount of times he's referred to blitz as his little imp, how he never acknowledged or thanks the M&Ms for saving his life twice, the butler he used as a stress ball while talking on the phone with Stella. Or the fact that he is the one who put the deal in place in the first place. Yet has the nerve to seriously ask when he's ever looked down on Blitzø while also comparing him to Striker, the guy who tried to kill him and say he didn't even bother trying to come save him, Knowing damn well that Blitzø told him he was taking his daughter to a doctor's appointment. Those last two what she said at the beginning of this episode.
Yeah maybe Blitzø yelling at him wasn't going to fix anything, but Stolas has a bad habit of just brushing off a lot of his own faults.

    • @MosquitoNumber13
      @MosquitoNumber13 11 днів тому +3

      Counter points-
Stolas wanted the deal to end, whether Blitz wanted him or not. I don't think it was wrong of him to not ask Blitz if he didn't want the deal to end. Obviously, if Stolas doesn't feel comfortable sleeping with Blitzo in exchange for the book, which he says he does, it should stop happening, regardless of what Blitz thinks. And it's not even a case of Stolas ignoring Blitz's need for a way to get to Earth- he made sure Blitz had an alternative. So I really don't see what he did wrong here.
And we're explicitly told Stolas tried to talk to Blitz, but Blitz kept dodging him. In "Western Energy" we can see all of Stolas and Blitz's text conversations over the past few months, and Stolas tries to talk to him again and again and gets rebuffed. At the beginning of "The Full Moon" Blitz literally says he doesn't know if they're okay because he keeps avoiding Stolas's questions. The only reason it feels like Stolas is springing it on Blitz out of the blue is because Blitz left Stolas no other opportunity to talk about it.
Stolas is not flawless but unlike Blitz he doesn't just ignore the issues of their relationship. As soon as he realized how uncomfortable Blitz was with their deal at the end of "Ozzie's" he started working on making it right. Blitz, on the other hand, keeps putting things off and hoping that if he ignores complicated feelings they'll go away. Blitz needed a wake up call because Stolas already got one.

The texts don't prove anything, as said in many miss interperated comment sections, texts don't show sincerity or emotion. You can type haha, but not be laughing, I didn't see any missed calls... just texts, a lot of texts. Whether he was sincere or not its not a good tactic and I'm sure he can't be naive about this as I'm sure he's dealt with the false advertisers of hell who claim they really care about you in their writing but actually don't.
Stolas does express to blitz his desires about romance, specifically people wanting him, like begging him at a train station, issue is he doesn't seem to realise in wanting that how bad it is for the person who is at the train station. He wants them to want him and doesn't seem to actually see the importance of him wanting them back, and not just because they cried for him at the train station.
Relatable to real life I guess you should love someone as you want them, not think you love them because they wanted you. Dude barely knows anything about blitz.

@@guineapig5858 Your first point is meaningless. At no point does Blitz complains about Stolas never coming over and it's never seen as an issue. Not sure why you brought it up.
The second point might've had merit if Blitz himself didn't explicitly tell us at the beginning of "The Full Moon" that he doesn't know how he and Stolas are really doing because he'd been purposely avoiding Stolas's attempts to talk about the relationship. So that tells us that Blitz is aware Stolas wants to talk about things, it's Blitz himself who doesn't want to do that.
When Blitz expresses disbelief that Stolas actually cares about him, he doesn't mention anything Stolas said or did specifically. He just can't believe it because Stolas is a prince, and Blitz hates himself. Stolas has been very open about his affection- too open, even. He did come on too strong, he ignored Blitz's boundaries several times, and he has unaddressed issues with racism toward imps which was taught to him since childhood that he needs to work through. Stolas isn't perfect but a lot of the criticism thrown his way is out of proportion.

About Stolas saying he's never looked down on Blitzo, I think the show wants viewers to get that he's never *thinkingly* looked down on him. His actual actions and words in Season 1 show that, for as much as the Goetian is in love with the imp, he's still acting and speaking very condescendingly to Blitzo - he might not be intentionally (classist? racist? speciesist?), but he still is behaving in a similarly arrogant way that the other nobles do to the lower classes of demon.
A big, consistent thing with Stolas is that he is really, really bad at thinking about how his actions affect others, likely due to him seldom having any normal social interactions with others for most of his life. He's just as much of an emotional dumpster fire as Blitzo, but his issues have kept him sealed off from others, in contrast to Blitzo's issues inflicting him on many, many others.

I heavily disagree, I feel like you’re dismissing a lot of genuine faults on Stolas’s end, like how you dismissed his demeaning language as just “cute talk.” Imagine if your hypothetical partner who’s of a different race and higher class kept bringing up your race or social status in the same fashion. You probably wouldn’t be pleased… Blitz kept saying that it made him uncomfortable and Stolas didn’t listen. You keep focusing on Stolas’s intentions rather than his actions, but then you don’t do the same with Blitz, instead condemning him on his actions, which often contradict his intentions. You talk about Stolas being the “bigger person” as if he’s doing some morally righteous thing by fixing the mistake that HE MADE in the first place. (Taking advantage of a life or death situation to strike a deal where Blitz had to bang him or his livelihood (and that of his employees) would suffer) He’s not being a bigger person by fixing his own mistake, he’s doing the bare minimum expected of any person. There’s so many things I could comment on, but basically I think you’re missing how Stolas’s actions matter. The past DOES matter, because even if Stolas has changed, Blitz doesn’t know the extent of it. It’s influencing Blitz’s actions. Of course that’s not to say that Blitz didn’t do wrong, but I think that they’re equally at fault and both deserve to be called out. Stolas DOES need to be called out because he’s still somewhat delusional. He doesn’t fully grasp the extent of his faults.

Okay, 2 minutes in and I have to say, calling this relationship doomed from the get-go because it was transactional is not correct. The reason this relationship was shaky to begin with was because their first meeting as adults was a communication catastrophe, a comedy of errors where Stolas is flirting as a joke thinking it's just friendly banter because he remembers Blitz, but Blitz doesn't remember Stolas and therefore just thinks "oh this guy is into me, and I see the book there, lemme play into this to distract him." Both of their initial interpretations of what was going on was different from the start and neither properly communicated their intentions, Stolas begins to realize Blitz is coming onto him and begins getting nervous, Blitz leans into it to keep distracting him while Stolas keeps thinking this is Blitz being super forward. From beginning to end, it was a communication nightmare, and this does continue throughout their entire relationship, with only small moments of clarity like when Blitz leaves Stolas after the night at Ozzie's and Full Moon.
I think though people call Stolas a hypocrite, and rightfully so, is because he espouses all of these beliefs and feelings and projects like he has been making moves towards showing Blitz he doesn't want this to be just transactional, but he is too blinded by his emotions and his own POV to realize he isn't doing that. I'm not even going to address the whole "the fact you think this is all about sex" line because that is so blatantly hypocritical that even Vivziepop said as such on Twitter. She replied to someone mentioning how we were all screaming at Stolas through our screens and said "he gets too caught up in his fee fees to see reality" and THAT is true hypocrisy. You SAY and FEEL like you are upholding certain values and beliefs and actions but your actions are not lining up with your words and you are unable to see that most of the time, that's what hypocrisy is and I feel like not a lot of people actually know that. It's different than knowingly not practicing what you preach, that's just being deceptive and a liar.
But the main points of hypocrisy people are pointing out is how he says he doesn't look down on Blitz and how he says he wants to give Blitz the choice to stay or go. I'll start with the first one, this mainly has to due to Stolas not seeing or caring that Blitz is of a lower demon class than himself, however in him not caring he is kind of also unintentionally ignoring how their social classes change the dynamic. He is also unaware of how Blitz cannot ignore his class as an imp, and this also means a lot of what Stolas says pre-Ozzies comes across as very much demeaning to Blitz, referring to him as a "little imp" "impish little plaything" "itty bitty imp" or even the pet name Blitzy out in public. What Stolas thinks is just using cutesy names for your partner comes across as Stolas treating Blitz like a pet. So while Stolas THINKS and SAYS he doesn't look down on Blitz, he is unaware of how degrading his words come across because he has the luxury of ignoring class while Blitz doesn't. This is hypocrisy number one, being unaware as to how his words give Blitz the wrong impression. Also this is ignoring how he ONLY thinks of Blitz as an equal, not other imps given he refers to Moxxie and Millie as "lesser ones" in Loo Loo Land.
Now, this is the bigger one which has more to do with him giving Blitz the choice to stay or go, which he doesn't realize he isn't doing. By planning out the Full Moon night the way he did, he basically gave Blitz no chance to actually make his decision, or any choice to actually slow down the conversation to a pace where he wouldn't be sent through a ton of emotions way too fast for him to process. Like, Stolas asks for the book back right away, says "I've made up my mind" not really reacting to Blitz freaking out and begging or keying in that this is Blitz thinking Stolas is throwing him away, then shows him the crystal right away and goes into the entire speech about the crystal. Then, he takes the crystal and binds it to Blitz's wrist immediately, meaning he literally just forced Blitz to take it when his entire thing was "I'm giving this so he can choose to stay or go." This is actually further elaborated on that Blitz feels uncomfortable by being given the crystal just because in Apology Tour when he says "let me earn this crystal" as in he doesn't feel like he deserves it unless he gives Stolas something in return. And when Blitz misinterprets Stolas' confession as some weird foreplay (either because he is still trying to process his emotions from like a minute ish ago or because it's his trauma defense mechanism kicking in), Stolas instead of stopping Blitz and saying "no, I'm not messing with you, I'm fully serious" he gets up and leaves and says "I have my answer" which despite the fact he said he would listen to Blitz and not the voice in his head, he never actually got an answer from him on whether he actually wanted to continue seeing Stolas. All of this is to show how despite Stolas wanting to give Blitz the crystal to free him from their arrangement, he is still VERY much controlling everything about how this night is going, not acknowledging how Blitz is lagging on behind trying to catch up and process these emotions he is being put through at a mile a minute. In like one minute he goes from horny, to thinking something is off, to concern that Stolas is breaking up with him, to sheer desperation for Stolas to not throw him away. And when Stolas has had enough, he makes the decision to end the night before Blitz can even apologize for going too far, which is ironic because in the next episode he says "Have you ever genuinely apologized once in your life Blitz?" LIKE DUDE, YOU CUT HIM OFF BEFORE HE COULD!!
I also forgot a short point, but Stolas says "the fact that you couldn't believe I have feelings for you" is also a bit of hypocrisy because all during Season 1 we don't see him giving clear signs to Blitz that he wants to move the relationship in a different direction, make it not about sex or the transaction. He thinks his feelings were made clear and that Blitz should've believed him the first time, but even reading the texts that were scrolled by pretty fast in Western Energy, we see Stolas attempting to make a move, Blitz giving a non-response, and instead of pushing it further, Stolas backpedals without any real incentive from Blitz to do so. And even at the start of Full Moon it is clear Blitz is avoiding his questions to not make the relationship complicated, but Stolas is being way too passive here. He needs to basically push Blitz a bit harder and make it so he can't just avoid the question. But Stolas doesn't put out obvious hints and it is his responsibility to do so since he's the only one wanting to change the nature of the relationship. Right now Blitz, despite wanting Stolas to love and care for him, doesn't feel emotionally ready for that and is too walled off, so he's content with keeping this transactional relationship.
Sorry for this long comment, I think it's just not true to say Stolas isn't a hypocrite because yeah, he 100% is, and that's what makes him a good character. It's the fact we can clearly see how his hypocrisy was built up and that this is his character defining flaw he needs to work on in the story. There's also the very small point in that his ideal of what a relationship is is based on rom com and soap opera shows, which fully explains his set up for Full Moon. This also kinda works into his personality of being too caught up in his feelings to see objective reality and why he isn't able to see how his grand gesture of the crystal wouldn't work on Blitz. He addressed the horrible beginning to their relationship, but he hasn't recognized the flaws in himself, nor has Blitz told him about his own struggles either, and its both of them needing to have a conversation about this when they are SOBER (Stolas was super drunk in Apology Tour so I don't think he will 100% remember their conversation), because their own issues are the underlying reason why they do not work together, their lack of proper communication is why they don't work together. For once in Blitz's relationship history, we can actually say he wasn't the one totally in the wrong, Stolas had his own hand in this dysfunction

We all need to remember that this is a show that doesn't Ignore things altogether. They will eventually come up
It's just this moment where its Blizø's Turn To realize he needs to do a little bit of growing up first and He needs to heal a bit more before he can form any. Type of romantic relationship
Also we're completely ignoring the fact that Yes Stolas Is wording literally a lot of stuff wrong in his own way, like how he believes that he never belittled blitø Generally, that could be the case that he doesn't realize he actually is belittling blizø Because last time I checked when you're in a forced marriage, you're not really given an opportunity to just be shown a healthy relationship that actually got to develop

I feel people often look at their relationship in a rather shallow way, putting all the blame on one side. Or maybe they project some past experience from their own breakups and it gets them angry (as someone who has never been in a relationship to begin with, I'm not sure about that part)
The thing is, relationship between Stolas and Blitz is quite complicated on both sides. It was to be expected it won't work unless they properly adress their issues, and the whole nature of their transactional relationship. Also, thus far we only got one episode after the break-up. We may get more insight into Stolas's issues in one of the later episodes.

I agree that Blitzo was wrong and is by far the more immature of the two. But I feel like you excuse some of Stolas’ issues a bit too much.
Stolas did demean Blitzo in his attempts to flirt and there is a power imbalance there. But the main reason I can forgive Stolas over Blitzo is because Stolas is at least trying to be a better person and attempting to see things in other’s perspectives. At the end of the day someone doesn’t have to be a perfect person to be in a relationship but they do need to be willing to communicate.
People like to say Blitzo did nothing wrong because he had trauma and hates himself. But they seem to forget Blitzo isn’t the only one who’s had trauma. In fact most of the characters in the show do. Yet Blitzo is the only one who never tries to positively maintain any of his relationships (even nonromantic ones) and uses his trauma as an excuse to shit on everyone.

There isnt any hypocrisy though. And if the excise is that he started a "bad relationship" 1) Blitz was never forced into anything and could have said no 2) Blitz was a part of why it was bad to begin with since he was using the feelings he recognized Stolas had to be able to have the means to do his business 3) That's not what hypocrisy is. Starting something bad, recognizing how bad it is and trying to fix or end it isn't hypocrisy.
Honestly this is just people who can't bother to think about what they are watching and just want to say "they are both equally guilty for how things turned out" without acknowledging what each of them even did and be honest about it. Did Stolas mess up in places? Yes. Was it the same how Blitz did? No. And I'm not even saying Blitz is the sole reason either, I'm just saying they both had fault but not the same degree
Also you have people unironically saying because Stolas is rich he is automatically in the wrong and that Blitz was somehow right and a lone victim of Stolas....because Stolas is rich. Not that he did horrific things and Blitz did nothing but that that because Stolas is rich and cut off the relationship he is in the wrong and made everything Blitz said about him true. I kid you not, that's what some of the people going "they did the same" say. Um, Stolas made it clear that if Blitzø wants to keep using his book, you know, the *only* means he has of getting to the human world and keeping his business afloat, he has to bed him. In this scenario, what real choice did he have? Say no, lose the book and consequently his livelihood, rendering him and his employees jobless? Under what circumstances can you consider the proposition Stolas made to Blitzø an *actual* choice? It's more accurate to call what Stolas did sexual coercion.

    • @SpectreBagels
      @SpectreBagels 10 днів тому +4

@@ryancarson6962 That's called a business transaction. Do you also unironically think that you are forced to take a job when it's offered to you? You know since those also have terms and conditions in exchange for something of value to you🙄. Blitz didn't have to take it and he wasn't in some moral position on the matter considering before he was offered he was in the process of STEALING IT. Being given an offer that he had a choice in was the most generous thing he could have been given considering he was stealing it before that.
Also it is a choice to say yes or no. Since when is having the option to decline an offer for something you tried to STEAL, not being given a choice? Also Blitz didn't NEED it, it was just an easy and convenient means not a necessary one. With Stolas being his childhood friend he could have also gotten cozy with him to get an Ozmodian crystal. OR he could have chosen a business he could actually do within Hell, he didn't HAVE TO make his business reliant on something he didn't have. Also calling it sexual coercion is hilarious. ESPECIALLY when Blitz was the one who tried to use sex to get the book IN THE FIRST PLACE and tried to come onto Stolas and prey on his feelings that he noticed, and even states several times he only has sex with Stolas to get the book from him despite this. Now for Stolitz, Stolas has always been about sex and he acts a victim and uncomfortable when Blitz finally decides to r-r-ravish him despite the Book being his target, not Stolas, the Book.

Can we talk about how all the negative comments about Stolas that I find in hating videos of him are those with the argument that he is a bad father?
Some weird hate is being created on divorcees with children. Let's stop banning people from happiness after divorce. Stolas as well as Stella have the right to put their lives back together after this truly failed relationship. Let's stop shitting on Stolas that he is neglecting Octavia with his own happiness. And here I am absolutely not saying that his behaviour in the second episode of the first season was good. Still, the only scenes they had together were the ones where he really tries for her. He also reproached it to Stella that he was only in a relationship with her because of his daughter. People make excuses about parenting without being able to put themselves in the shoes of a man who got out of a toxic relationship after some ten years (or even more) and fell in love for the first time. We have to remember that Stolas has practically zero experience with other people - he behaved the way Blitzø first started towards him. Nevertheless, of course Via is devastated by this state of affairs. Every child in her position is. And before you start yapping about it, I'm a kid of divorcees myself.
It is important to remember that Stolas is also entitled to happiness. But people for some reason think that only Blitzø can make mistakes because he has a trauma. They both fucked up in the relationship. They both have the same right to feelings. Stolas is tired and I can't imagine how exhausting it was living with Stella, pretending to be a happy couple and dealing with a teenage girl. The first time he has the chance to be happy - of course he makes mistakes - like everyone else. So why is Blitzø the only one to be forgiven?

something that i find very entertaining about the conversation surrounding the stolas and blitzo relationship is that a lot of the detractors are painting a BDSM fuckfest as grounds for stolas being a bigoted hypocrite. the way his privilege is demonstrated in the show is a lot more subtle than that, so it's a bit frustrating to see people latch onto the cutesy nicknames when outside of the bedroom and in general, stolas has nothing but love and respect for blitzo. him having an imp servant that he mistreats, him ignoring the very real danger that is his wife because he hates her and thinks very little of her, and his dialogue towards blitzo when they first meet are real examples of his privilege that people could be using, but instead everyone just jumps on the most blatantly superficial parts that are nothing but sex talk. they're a kinky relationship, that's not the same as classism. it also demonstrates a strong misunderstanding of a BDSM relationship, because you have to trust the other party in order to have good kinky sex.

I do believe that Stolas is being a hypocrite (albeit he doesn't know since he saw them as playful banter), but I also agree with you that calling it out would've done nothing, mess up the plot, or strive a bigger gap between them than there already is. What people need to understand is that we're telling a story, and that if you overwhelm the viewers and storyboards with complicated story ontop of a complicated story, it'll only ruin the experience. That's why I believe they did the right thing having Blitz get his dues in this episode and is going to flesh out more of Stolas' problems in later episodes. We're still not done with Blitz, as the problems and walls he set up most DEFINITELY needs more than just this episode to fully understand and fix, but the same can and will be said for Stolas, as he's going to be confronting his daughter soon (Season 2 trailer for anyone curious about what I meant).

Look how I see it Stolas did well to end that relationship, people call him a hypocrite, but let's face it ending a toxic relationship is never easy, you are hurt, angry and to top it all off Blitzø kept breaking his limits, do people really think that Someone less than a month after breaking up with serious psychological and emotional problems, while hurt, is going to be 100% aware of their mistakes? Also, as explained in a video I saw about their relationship, the reason why the series addresses the relationship problem with emphasis on Blitzø, is that Blitzø always justifies himself to continue his toxic behavior, that is to say, of course, half of the blame lies with Stolas, but Blitzø would continue in this toxic cycle, if more emphasis were placed on him at this time. Stolas' actions, Blitzø would use him with excuses, because he has those defense mechanisms and in order not to get hurt he discredits other people's emotions.

This is a book of a comment and it seemed like you didn't even want to make this vid, which I understand, so if you don't, I get it ;) Great vid!
I think you're right, the show isn't putting the blame on either of them per se, it's a toxic relationship that doesn't have any hope of surviving without time apart and growth on both ends. And if they never come back to each other? Hopefully they found others to be happy with.
To me, Stolas beginning and ending the relationship is not hypocritical. Yes, he's a powerful person who is condescending to Blitz, and someone who really doesn't get the lower class (not the worst but still), and he started the transactional relationship which was itself a really fucked up thing to do.
Because, if a person with more power uses it to leverage sex from another person, that's assault. I suppose we can make an argument that it's like Blitz is prostituting himself for the book, but that doesn't map 1 to 1 with prostitution because you get money for that, whereas the book is a means to get money which is... idk how else to put it... gross. Selling yourself (not just sexwork) for a job is bad enough, but selling yourself for the ability to do a job... That's a scam. An abusive relationship.
So when Stolas says "We can't do this anymore" that's a correction to the original fucked up action and the continued abuse. It's not perfect, imo, because they got feelings for each other and traumatized each other, and again... abusive power dynamics, but it's a correction with an attempt to at least leave Blitz in a financially stable position by giving him the stone to continue the business while also ending the abusive relationship.
Stolas needs enjoy other people (without leveraging power) and learn about himself. Blitz needs to do the work so he can open up, be honest with himself, and communicate with his loved ones so that he can have healthy(er) relationships. The relationship needed to end.

I agree that since reviewers have been pointing out the hypocrisy in Stolas's stance on the matter, the general audience quickly flocked to defend Blitzø and completely dismiss Stolas, but like, they're BOTH in the wrong.
Stolas doesn't realize his actions come off hypocritical, considering he is a product of the aristocracy he comes from. He has good intentions in not wanting to act above the lower hierarchy hellborns, and wants to be on equal footing with Blitzø, but well, there's enough evidence to point out he was condescending. In his mind, unfortunately, he saw it as simply flirting and outwardly expressing his affection for Blitzø. Even when Blitzø did put his foot down when trying to express his discontent with those advances, Stolas might've simply interpreted those responses as Blitzø just being flustered (in a positive way) and nothing more. He did also talk down to other imps before, most especially the M&Ms (and heck, the way he treats Pringle is fucked even if it's played for laughs), but as long as he doesn't see his overall treatment of imps as actually being kinda messed up, his relationship with Blitzø isn't going to improve.
At the same time, Stolas setting up the nature of their relationship isn't entirely on him when we have the whole story of what happened the evening Blitzø broke into his bedroom to steal the grimoire. He joked that Blitzø was "here to ravish him," which did take Blitzø off-guard, but once he put two and two together on Stolas's repressed angst, Blitzø capitalized on this in order to steal the book. Stolas, on the other hand, saw this as his childhood crush "reciprocating" his feelings, and wanting to continue seeing him, so Stolas kept being pushy in his advances because he assumed, from that night Blitzø tried to steal the book, it was a kink he could get behind and laid it on thick. At the time (and I would say due to his sheltered lifestyle stunting his hindsight), his hopes of making their relationship a transaction was so he could continue seeing him. So much more plays into this relationship, sure, like him wanting to escape his marriage and finally express who he really is, but at the core of it all is an owl man being so happy to have his childhood crush back in his life.
Neither of them clearly communicated they were crossing a line. All Blitzø told Stolas at Verosika's party was that he was in disbelief that a prince would ever love him, an imp. That doesn't give the entire picture to Stolas about feeling like he's beneath him after all the ways he didn't value him as an equal, and sure, he was also drunk, so he was gonna twist the conversation to be about his feelings. On the flip side, Stolas never gave Blitzø a heads up that he wanted to talk about their relationship before he came over, and simply overanalyzed every way he could have that talk, only to execute it poorly and end up yelled at. He assumes that by calculating his moves, things will go according to plan, which was made apparent in Episode 2 by taking Octavia for a day out to Loo-Loo Land, not knowing that she actually wasn't fond of it and kept not listening to her until things went horribly.
Stolas was going in the right direction when he realized that their transactional relationship was wrong, and it would've given the both of them a chance to stand as equals, but he had no idea Blitzø had interpreted their relationship differently. Neither of them ever stopped to say, "Hey, what's going on?" It was apparent in their interactions, as well as the texts that Stolas scrolled through while he was in the hospital. Their whole relationship was doomed from the start, from the moment Blitzø was caught stealing the book.
Even in writing, it seems like I side with the people vindicating Blitzø, considering all the points against Stolas. Thing is, Stolas is my favorite character, and while his actions are fucked, I also don't blame him for being blindsided by his feelings. People can be blind to their own transgressions when it comes to doing right by the people they care about romantically, and Stolas shows that completely. Love is a hell of a drug, as they say.

Yea I was also wondering if Stolas is that much of a hypocrite how come Blitzø himself never called him out about it? Isn’t pointing out people’s flaws Blitzø’s specialty 😅 (from s2ep7)? I mean people seem to forgot Blitzø actually wants the relationship to be PURELY transactional because he hates being in a relationship I mean it’s been so obvious the way he avoid Stolas serious talk that’s why HE AGREED to what Stolas has to offer. Stolas just wants to GET out of this kind of toxic relationship and srsly even if Stolas is being a hypocrite it doesn’t change the fact that Blitzø ALSO want Stolas for his body too I mean it must be a 2 way street right? Blitzø wants sth more it’s just that he’s too chicken to admit it and so these Blitzø defenders rlly cannot defend Blitzø without calling out Stolas being a hypocrite I mean…that’s the only reason they got mostly and it’s rlly kind of frustrating. Stolas being a hypocrite is NOT a reason for their breakup it’s rather BLITZØ’s refusal to take things to the next level and his self hatred that cause their relationship to fall apart 🤷‍♀️

And Blitz was the one who used Stolas's bottled up desires to get the book. And thex agreed on the Transacional thing. Stolas might have enjoyed the sexual stuff but he changed hie later admitted to himself that he wants something more and tried to change. In later episodes he doesn't tease Blitz with sexual stuff and shows Blitz that he cares about him.

Facts. Stolas may be slow in realizing his mess ups but when he DOES realize he's doing something wrong, he TRIES to change and fix it.
Blitzø on the other hand will just stay exactly the same, do the same toxic thing and go through a thousand different people KNOWING that he's being an a** hole unapologetically.
Blitzø wanted to stay in that agreement with Stolas you can't deny it, because at the end of the day: The agreement with the grimoire was benefiting him more then any of Stolas's pet names could hurt him.
He also liked the se×. So for Blitzø, if it was up to him, he'd just stay in that messed up agreement forever if you think about it.
It had to be Stolas to break the agreement for their own good

Stolas was the only one who could break the agreement because he had all the power in it. Blitzø NEEDED that book. Stolas owns the book. Even if he enjoyed the sex̌, he was basically Stolas's slave.

Did any one of the commenters you addressed heard Stolas song at all? He questioned his part in the relationship while Ver and Tex are saying no Blitz is the problem. Stolas had a feeling about being wrong and that is why he asked Ozzie for the Cristal. The whole thing that happened after Ozzies in episode 7! when Blitz screamed at him make him realize that what they had is not right.! they should just be quiet and pay attention to what is said a showed in each episode.

Thank you! I don't see it as him looking down on Blitzø. I thought it was just playful flirting. But It just didn't seem that way to Blitzø.

Stolas is just completely unaware of the way he acts sometimes and that's the WHOLE point. He's naive due to a life of isolation and loneliness. He picked up some bad mannerisms from his father Paimon and other royals but could've turned out WAY worse to be honest. I commend him for still being relatively sane.
The tragic thing is, Stolas has no one around him to point out to him what he does wrong or how he treats others. His staff is certainly not going to call him out on it and his daughter never wants to talk or chooses a bad moment to do so.
If you really think about it, Stolas actually has LESS than Blitz if you take away his wealth, which is something he was born into and cares little for. I've seen the fandom actually hate him for being rich. Like, wha why???! Growing up rich is not something you can blame someone for. Or having a butler. His palace is simply gargantuan and therefore requires help to maintain it. And now that Stella is gone they don't have to fear for being manhandled anymore. Yes, Stolas did squeeze the living daylight out of poor Pringles, but guess who he was on the phone with and how distracted he was with the whole heated conversation? It's always Stella that gets him riled up and. Again, he was probably unaware he was doing it at all. As a prince he's just so used to having servants clean up behind him that he just sees them as part of the interior. Is that good? No, of course not. But I'm sure that, given the kind of person and oddball royal Stolas is, he WOULD genuinely work on that, if only someone actually pointed it out to him in a moment when emotions aren't running so high and out of control. So yes, he does need to be confronted about his behaviour. It'll help him improve. Calling him a pompous rich ahole is not the way to do it though. Blitz was just projecting there and trying to egg Stolas on. Shouting works averse with someone like Stolas.
Fortunately, Stolas has already come to realize he is part of the problem between him and Blitz and made very clear that does not look down on Blitz. Not intentionally as far as he thinks. He's sung about this in three songs now. But apparently Stolas bashers just skip his songs, which completely explains why they spew such biased nonsense. If you're not willing to understand one of the main characters why even bother watching this show any further?
Last but not least, Stolas is not a bad father. One or two times not being there to give his daughter the attention she craves doesn't weigh up to the 16+ years of making sure she had a happy childhood. Unlike his own father who never even bothered to remember his name. Now THAT's bad.
My point is, parents aren't perfect. They make mistakes. There's no manual. Loona gave some sound advice in LA. What Octavia doesn't know is how her father sacrificed his own happiness by tolerating an abusive wife constantly dragging his name through the mud and attacking his self esteem. 25 years of that people! Good lord, this man must've be so tired and dead inside before Blitz came back into his life! He did his best to protect Octavia from the burden of being pushed into a mould like he was. He is trying hard. But life is never easy in hell and always finds a way to eff it up even more. How you deal with it starts with yourself though.
I adore Stolas but am in no way babying him. He's a grown ass man who needs an overdue reality check. Doesn't make me like him any less or think he deserves all the crap he has to deal. This man just wants to be happy and not be alone. His loneliness makes him cling to Blitz in hopes of finding that what he craves most with what he sees is a childhood friend. His only friend and familiar he felt safe around. He romanticized their relationship however because Stolas literally knows nothing about love outside of his soaps and romcoms. He doesn't know any better. Dating or a hook up is a foreign concept to him. He was already married to Stella and a father in his late teens.

I like when people go “Stolas is a hypocrite, he started the whole deal and made it about sex” ‘cuz I’m like, yeah, but he’s also the only one who really tried to stop it after the fact. A lot of people clip Stolas saying how Blitz only makes it about sex thinking it’s him being hypocritical, but they never seem to understand he’s saying the word “always,” which is a truth because the only one who showed enthusiasm for going on dates or doing any other intimate activity besides sex has always been Stolas.
