      I wasn't even gonna argue even if he was actually stating that as a fact. Theres no way i was gonna get to ryujin in Tekken 7. Probably cuz i was still using devil jin after the final patch of t7 and it's basically impossible to get good dmg in but regardless, the fundamentals and reads were tripled at blue ranks in tekken 7

      @@alexandermccalla5098 thats just not quite true. this is happening across all competitive games where players are getting better and better each year, theres more guides more resources to get better. There are players in tekken 8 that will peak garyu forever, and then theres some who will never touch red, or some who peak purple forever. as long as players get better, ranks will equalize

      @@TheJackson4eva lmao bruhh this couldn't be far from the truth. It's games being developed more easier. The devs for Tekken 8 were LITERALLY stating in a nutshell "This time around, we want everyone to be winners, where newcomers could even possibly compete with pros" 💀. Countless videos about fighting games always putting the Tekken series before 8 coming out, as the most troublesome to get into because "its fckin hard" true words by an experienced fighters player lol. All these Triple A having "story mode" difficulties, multiplayers adding completely broken dlc characters for the cash intake, only months later to be patched. No one in todays gaming generation is "seeking/wanting" to get better at any game at all lol. In the end, this is a passtime for the majority and not a passion.

      I reach Tekken king without breaking a sweat with Claudio .. I didn't struggle at any point to reach there .. ( in 7 .. I struggle just to reach the last blue )
      I got about 3500 points in about 1 hr for the promotion to Tekken. King
      All the persons I played was mostly bushin , few blue ranks and a few Tekken kings .. the blue ranks understand their characters but their timing is of ... Something that blue ranks in didnt lack in 7 .. and they don't cater for adaption of the opponent as they be spamming one string most of the time with a little mixup options
      This Tekken gives me the feeling I can even reach G.o.d and I haven't change much from 7
      The reason why I feel it so easy is because of the larger pool of players be playing Tekken now. So the odds of getting a weaker player, even in higher ranks , is higher than 7 .
      The other reason is the this heat system they implement.
      The weaker men don't understand how it's surpose to work , on defense and offense
      When I get these men at the wall with Claudio even worse, with heat .. most of the time I'd win the round

      Some people just got better because their character got stronger. Like me with Xiaoyu and Lili. They're WAYY better now and their stances are actually useful (I.e., Hypnosis and Feisty Rabbit). Thus I got stronger too. T8 also forced me to be longer in practice mode because that mode is seriously elite now and it's so much easier to get better, especially with the replay and tips option where you can literally go back into a ranked match and replay the scene (while better responding to it now, thus learning). Frame data didn't even exist in T7 for a long time. Professional players struggled with looking at textbooks with that data 😂 It's easier to be good now than it was back on T7.

    Prowess based matchmaking really changed the ranking system. In my opinion, people who hit the blue ranks and above should be matched with any player no matter what their prowess is. At this point Tekken King will be a hardcore gate keeping rank because players who reached to that rank with 190k are gonna get demolished by veterans as soon as they hit the 200k prowess. I'm currently struggling with Jin in bushin at 260k prowess and when game matches me with a 180k bushin player, its literally a free win to me, thats ridiculous.

    • @mee091000
      @mee091000 24 дні тому +16

      I don't think that's fair or really a good idea at all lol. You will farm an armada of Red Rank noobs, scrubs, trolls, etc. and all of the Purple Rank players that are entry level. They don't need to fight players like you, instead they need to overcome all other players that are on their level to get to players like yourself who are much better than them. While I get what you're saying if you just win all your matches you'll get into the higher ranks with other players that aren't gonna give you a free win regardless of prowess. You have to understand that this doesn't just open the gates for you. The Tekken Gods will farm 99.9% of the player base if you let them fight anyone other than themselves. Lol YOU will become the free win.

    • @Dopameme
      @Dopameme 23 дні тому +2

      @@Nxstalgicz You are getting smoked because the prowess system is really, really stupid. Because of decisions you've made (finding a main), the system is incapable of matching you based on your skill level (win loss rates). Making alt characters increase your prowess is arbitrary; a player who ranked up multiple characters is NOT necessarily better than someone who didn't.
      Pro players often suggest focusing on 1 or 2 characters, because mastering 1 character often gets you further than swapping constantly. It isn't logical to assume that someone who ranked up a shit ton of them will be better than the guy focusing on one. Despite that, this system arbitrarily decides to boost your prowess (therefore forcing you into harder matches) just because you ranked up alts.

    I do believe there absolutely was rank inflation at least at the start of this game. This was due to the large amount of casual players bumping everyone up in the ranks. The rank point distribution is more generous. The green ranks are free now. One thing that is not talked about much is that there are less ranks in T8 than there were in T7. Tekken God is literally not the same rank in T8 as it is in T7. It was around 8 ranks higher. Less ranks + generous point awards + free green ranks + more low-skilled casuals = rank inflation. There were people who have never played a Tekken game before hitting Fujin!

    I was pretty hardstuck red ranks in T7
    I am now Fujin within 4 months, and that isnt because im significantly better at the game all of a sudden.
    This will definitely change over time, but new game, brand new knowledge checks, more forced 50/50 situations where its a complete guess, less emphasis on actually playing Tekken.
    Maybe its the astronomical dumbing down of Yoshi in this game with moves like 3,1 and flash in the new meta, but i feel like my rank is SUPER inflated, and like i REALLY didnt earn it at all. On my way up i just launch punished the launch punishable moves everyone did, and won several games in a row.

It honestly doesn’t truly feel like I earned this rank yet. But I’ve been gatekeeping there holding on to it for dear life just trying to learn new match ups and I can definitely see there is a clear skill gap from Battle Ruler to Raijin alone. That's because in Tekken 8 Blue Ranks are the equivalent of Red in Tekken 7. Red and Purple Rank within Tekken 8 means essentially nothing now. I have seen the _GOOFIEST_ players you can think of in Tekken 8 Red Ranks. At least in Purple they seem to take the game a bit more seriously and understand the importance of defense. It's crazy because while I have not played Tekken for 30+ years like Mainman I have played it for around 20. So I think about all my experiences online and in modern Tekken especially. I've never seen players that have picked up the game for more than a few days play at the lower levels of skill I've seen in those ranks. Especially in Modern Tekken. They would have no idea what to do in Tekken Tag 2 and would be stuck in Green/Yellow in Tekken 7. There's nothing wrong with them being bad though it's just really interesting to see. Before this era of fighting games most people that played online had a tendency to be decently skilled by default.

      @@seanbrown7083 In my opinion, a good way to get out of red rank is to master the hellsweep to learn to do 50/50 punishments (mid launch or hell). At those ranks there is a lot of reward for low blows since they don't usually crouch, so combining lows with mid launchers is a good way to punish spammers at those levels, although the most important thing of all is that you learn to defend yourself more than attack, since people hit without thinking and you can punish their negative frames. @@crusaderflo1965 that you’re just unwilling to accept that they have counterplay. Drag was oppressive at launch but has counterplay now, so do Raven, Zafina and Xiao - they are just lab characters. If you think you’re playing “real” Tekken so much better than your opponent and still losing then you are either lacking in match up knowledge (which is a part of the core of the game, or real Tekken) or are getting outplayed. The only legitimately busted one is King, but playing King to full efficiency or generally well is actually quite difficult. His cheese (running shining wizard, giant swing spam, armor) if spammed recklessly has very clear counterplay.
      Now of course character picks are a huge part of any fighting game - a Kaz will have a harder time against these characters than say a Jin, but at this stage of the game’s life cycle unless you’re plugging and getting extraordinarily lucky in your opponents you will not hit emperor without some decent fundamentals.

    I think what people are blatantly ignoring is what time you started playing ranked. If you play Tekken 7 ranked in the early/beginning stages of the game then of course it was easier to climb ranks. I started when the game only had like one year left and because of that I was only running into TGO players playing on alt characters. In Tekken 8 since the game is still relatively new it feels a lot easier to climb.

    • @Tuuubesh0w

      This is not true at all. It has never been harder to rank up than in the beginning of T7. You couldn't get out of green ranks without knowing basic punishment and throw breaking. Everyone was stuck there. Seasoned players were up to red and pros were in purple. There's a reason the term "green rank hell" was invented, and it is from this time.

    TMM doesn't fully understand how this system works, but I can't blame him. There is both rank inflation and deflation occurring, and the culprit is prowess matchmaking.
    Let's say you are trying to reach Tekken King. If you only play 1 character, you are shielded from fighting Tekken Kings until you reach that rank yourself. The average TK has 230k prowess, a Bushin with 1 character will have 190k, so they almost never match into TKs. In this case, the game is literally giving you easier matches because of prowess. The same goes for all ranked milestones that give a prowess boost. In the previous system, a Battle Ruler usually had to beat people in Fujin-Raijin to get into Fujin (for example), now they don't. The result is undeniable rank inflation.
    But rank deflation also occurs for a couple reasons. For one, every character you rank up increases your prowess, a global matchmaking value. That basically means you can make your matchups harder across all characters by ranking up alt characters. Your inflated prowess will cause you to match into players above your rank. If they are outside your ±2 rank range, it will be players from that higher rank playing an alt inside your rank range instead. Players in this situation get harder matches than they should, so they get demoted further than they should, and there's the rank deflation. TMM is severely affected by this; he gets harder matches than most because he plays many characters.
    But also, when you hit a ranked milestone like Garyu, Mighty Ruler, Fujin, Tekken King, etc. your prowess gets a huge bonus that will never be reversed, even if you derank. That means you don't really have ±2 rank range; you will only fight people at your rank or higher. So this is another source of rank deflation.

    • @CallOfCranK
      @CallOfCranK 24 дні тому +1

      Very true. I didnt bother yet to learn this game, so i messed around and picked up 11 characters so far and got them to tenryu. With each new char it became harder to win matches coz my prowess got higher. The average prowess of my opponents is like 170k, so most of them were like blue rank. Ranked up King a few days ago to mighty ruler, my prowess is now 173k.. -.- #
      so yea i see now also people with around 200k prowess without having a main xD

    • @dylansetright3359
      @dylansetright3359 24 дні тому

      Will say sometimes the Prowess match making says fuck you, I was a 190k playing my Red Ranks Claudio and fought a 250k Tekken King Leroy and lost 500 points for the match too. Or say 198k mid blue ranks and played a 440k Tekken King Xiao

    • @Dopameme
      @Dopameme 23 дні тому

      @@dylansetright3359 That's because the prowess system will let you match outside your prowess range if you or your opponent has spent a long enough time in queue. The reason they made it work this way is because if you match based on prowess + rank, you cut down the possible pool of players people can match with tremendously. For some players (often those with high prowess in a lower rank), this means they sometimes would get no matches. So Bamco also had to add some condition where players can match outside their prowess range if they dont find a match after a while.
      In other words, the system isn't saying "fuck you". It's a failsafe that prevents certain players from never getting a match.
      The ranked system overall is rather complicated right now. There are a lot of rules around prowess, and I notice people frequently misunderstand how its working. It is the worst ranked system I have seen in my entire life. It's almost commendable how much Bamco has managed to fuck up basic matchmaking (instead of just using Glicko/MMR like any ranked system should).

    • @Dopameme
      @Dopameme 22 дні тому

      @@gul9593 You are correct, that's exactly why you don't really fight Tekken Kings at Bushin. There's no way this isn't causing rank inflation for many players, prowess can literally force you to get easier matches than before it was implemented. Sadly, people really don't seem to understand how the prowess system works. If everyone fully understood it, far less people would support it.

    Nah truth be told many of these purple ranks play like yellow ranks, and these blue ranks play like orange/red ranks. The inflation is real. If your constantly still stuck in a rank for a long time or are constantly demoting or cant maintain your rank, then you probably aren't ready of that rank. So many purple and even blue ranks cant break throws, dont understand neutral and okizemi, never sidestep or walk, and have terrible character knowledge. Rank isn't easier but much more forgiving compared to previous games. (T6,Tag2, even T7). Namcos goal is to keep a large portion of people playing so the insentive to keep playing is trying to make them feel good about their rank.

  • @Grey0King
    @Grey0King 24 дні тому +2

    I'll say that rank inflation kinda occurs, but not in high ranks for sure - there is in fact as TMM put it: deflation instead. I was TTG on main (Brayan) and TG on secondary in T7, play in tournaments for the last three years. Yet, in T8 I have only managed to get to Tekken Emperor with some serious struggle (it took me like three days of ranked sessions to promote from TK to TE, while I've speedrun the TTG in T7 in like 60 hours after comming from console with TK to PC) and was quickly getting burned out due to never ending sweat and the way the rank system works.
    Honestly though, I'll say that ranking and keeping the rank in T8 is way easier than it was in T7, however it is true only until a certain point (i.e. Tekken King) from where the game turns to extremes. Because unlike in T7 where you were getting and losing same points (unless 3-loss steak on TGP+), in T8 you get less points (also the same amount regardless of rank difference of +1 or +2 below opponent) and lose way more. Essentially, you MUST win streak on the regular in literally the sweatiest bracket to offset a single lost set just so you won't lose all the progress.
    On the prowess thing: it should help agaisnt smurfing, but it really doesn't because of how Prowess is distributed (especially the part where losing a Rank does not drop it much at all, meaing that you can progressively make your situation worse by Promoting-Demoting.. Subs also screw players over, especially people in purple and blue). While I personally think that the intent is probably for the better, the result is really terrible. Hoewever not for the ranked specificly (granted I'm not playing it as much these day, but the amount of opponent repeats I've had when ranking up Paul was ridiculous), but for quick matches. Why do those follow the same rules, I do not understand at all. And it might sound like this is me wanting to "stomp scrubs" there, but no. My biggest issue are the queue times, that can get astonishingly terrible there. Waiting 10 minutes for a quick match (even with resets) is really beating the purpose of the mode.

    I just reached Fujin yesterday and this makes me feel better because I was a believer of this rankflation as well. I came to my own conclusion and wasn't influenced by posts cause I know someone who's in the red ranks in 8 but couldn't reach Genbu in 7. I reached Raijin in 7 but got demoted back to Eternal Ruler and I was just reaching and getting kicked back to Fujin and Eternal Ruler and never reach past Raijin. Then 8 was released and in just a few days, I'm at Shinryu. But I can confirm that it is sweaty gaming in the late ruler ranks in Tekken 8. You will have to work for that Fujin.

    So like, I'm guilty of this myself. I weight train and I bench 120kg pretty easily. I feel like bench pressing 100kg isn't hard and I can easily do it for a lot of reps and as part of a superset and for multiple sets. I feel like it's super easy. I feel like anyone can do it. I don't know why people think it's hard, it's not hard to do. I got to it pretty easily and I've never found it that challenging.
    But according to google 1% of people can do that and 99% of people can't. I hang around with strong people so we all feel like it's easy and I've not seen them struggle but me feeling like that just makes other people feel crap about their own accomplishments and means I'm putting 1% as being "average" since I don't think of elite starting until 140kg and above
    When I see these like "anyone can get emperor" takes i'm like well why are less than 2% of players there?
    Tekken is one of the most weridly guarded communities I've ever been a part of and anyone below the top like 5% just seem to feel like everyone else isn't even playing the game. Like if you're not Bushin what are you even doing? But then why are so many people struggling to get to that point?
    I think when you do something that often and it becomes a second nature to you then you start to disconnect what it's like for the average person trying to do that thing as well
    Just adding to this. I love Main mans take here. Nice to hear a voice like that coming from someone with his experience level

    I've been hard stuck Battle Ruler with Kazuya for about a month now, I dont really grind rank every day mind you but i do a push atleast once a week and ping pong within the rank
    It REALLY is a case of absolute compression on both sides right between purple and blue ranks. Prior to Blue, ranking up is (in comparison) easier because more points being gained on a win than a loss, thus a slight inflation over time, where blue ranks is the opposite and acts as a counterbalance due to 1:1 win/loss points deligation and loss streaks. I think it was intentionally designed to be this way, so that not everyone can become Gold ranks (given time and inflation) but it makes blue ranks a hard wall compared to every previous rank, same with how warrior introduces the possibility of losing points. Its reflected in the rank distribution, every color rank has a peak at the beginning but Fujin is almost as populated as Garyu for multiple reasons. The aforementioned struggle to get beyond fujin with whats said in the video, the difficulty tweak at said rank. Similarly, because the playerbase is so saturated in these areas, the climb in and around it is the most fun and diverse set of players
    I think overall this squeeze is really cool and interesting, but it creates a weird space for people like myself where you're in this kinda "best of the worst players, not worst of the best players" environment a lot of the time, especially if you have multiple characters in Flame Ruler or higher

    I think there is some level of inflation due to how easy it is to win with rage and heat abuse especially if they are using op character

    I think a better way to look at it is this, fujin onwards real hard, but below fujin then yeah people have been pushed up imo.

    Hi MainMan! I think you are so hilarious! Easy subscribe! I just hit Tekken King with my Auska Today after three months of play! It feels awesome and definitely a major feat!

    So agree with you. Recently got my lili to mighty rueler from calv rank took me 2 days but can say the amount of skill a orange, red and purple player has can be felt quite a bit. Like orange rank usually no fudnamentals people have often can easily be punished, red you start seeing people start playing some what defense, purple rank you see people start using proper spacing and you see them also defending a lot more. Every color you go up you can feel quite a massive difference to the previous one least in my experience on NA servers. The only people who think ranked is easy are people that use cheese to get high ranks like victor where they could easily abuse his stupid grab bug and his other dumb moves. Or eddy since hes newer character that came out and if you don't know his match up he can be annoying to fight.
    But you play a character like kaz, lili, reina, few others like you have to actually understand concepts like spacing, defense and also how to apply pressure, break grabs ect cause you cant just cheese your way through. And as people learn match ups the game just gets increasingly more difficult. Maybe im wrong tho idk.

    As someone who started playing Tekken 8 two months after its release I was expecting to mindlessly go through green, yellow and orange ranks and start actually playing basic tekken at red and purple and then advanced tekken at blue and above.
    But no, right from orange ranks some (not all) players were very observant and responsive. They could not only see what I was trying to do but adapt to it and I actually had to play layer 2 right from red ranks. I think namco providing frame data in the base game, the abundance of character guides on youtube and guys like mainman and phidx teaching core tekken concepts that complete beginners can understand and apply has been the main reason for it and it makes me really happy.
    I remember in T7 watching an old aris video where he was spamming a low poke against a red rank paul during a ranked match in hopes to teach his opponent that you can actually punish a low with while rising 4. The poor guy kept trying to deathfist it and boy have we come so far from those days.

    TMM gets it. As a man who was TGO in Tekken 7 and now struggling to maintain Tekken King rank, I 100% agree that "rank deflation" is what's actually happening lol. I am enjoying the challenge tho!
