how do I play kazuya without looking at his pecs it makes me lose because I'm distracted
Dont play when ure horny
Easy next
just put a shirt on him?
play on P2
Just stare at the crotch instead
@@topoftherock-might as well ask the man to turn the game off🙄
never imagined i would hear MainMan say "hes so rizzed up"
why? are you new?
@@MichaelMineCraftings only oldies know that TMM never used zoomer language, he only started recently with Tekken 8.
I was a noob in tag2 but i remember being able to sidestep in that game better and hearing the satisfaction of the wind kinda whiplash from their attack missing.
I just flew in from playing only mk as my only fighting game all my life and I just never side step so I really needed this.
Were you not around during the 3D era of MK??
@@CountChokcula first mk I played was mk9, I'm 19.
@@samzomorrody bruh same , came from mk & it’s so hard to play consistent defense in tekken
Side stepping feels possible, yet impossible all at the same time. Often times I’ll side step a string on a hard read only to side step the first two hits while the rest of the string realigns and tries to track me smh
"If the enemy is in heat, you dont really wanna step them" except when you play against dvj, on top of his nerfed heat smash is his god awful linear af demon paw
I agree, as a DVJ hater who played so much against him before any nerfs. I can say that they should have left out his heat smash so you can make him very threatening during heat. DVJ right now is very balanced but he has a very weak heat smash that comes out at a very slow 18 frames while jun has 13 frames and offer the same as DVJ.
use ff4, the timing to step it is quite different from demon paw. Also db1+2.
It's all about timing.
Djin overall has a hard time dealing with stepping.
Doesn’t he have a homing mid launcher in heat ? That like mid move into laser launches it’s insta bound but still a launcher
@@daysyn4573 oh, his is as fast as 18? some of us have to deal with 21 or 23
That ain't stopping nobody from mashing.
💀😭
I get launched dang near every time I try side stepping
@@lugit36 do you not hold back immediately after ss? It's become like a reflex for me due to the ptsd of playing against law
reina can't be sidestepped? nerf devil jin
"Nerf Devil Jin" is the new "Nerf Kazuya"
DVJ has taken over the nerf leroy meme fs 😂
If TMM made a dating app, swiping would be called swipestepping.
😂
😐
Treat sidestepping like a parry that only works against certain moves and certain directions
Then that’s not side stepping
@@ShizuSan69 Welcome to Tekken 8💀
@@b1gs3xy17 welcome to me walking out the door until they fix the movement in this game
@@ShizuSan69 i dont blame you
@ShizuSan69 8 days late but this why I don't play Tekken anymore l. The basic mechanics are always lacking since Tekken 7. They focus too much on unique mechanics like heat while sidestepping and throws constantly get shafted.
It's stupid
Sidestepping is a myth
FACTS
In this game it really feels weak compared to Tekken 5 DR, which I play daily. It's like TMM said, sidewalk > Sidestep but even that's unreliable from my experience in ranked.
@@S1lverArr0w they went way overboard with lateral hitboxes in 8, while sidesteps when less distance in 7, atleast moves didn't magically hit a 90 degree angle in front of them without being a homing attack
Yeah, it doesn't hit in 90°, just 180° with a butt, when character just extend his arms forward
Tekken 8 is a completely different experience when you play offline. It makes reaction game play so much more fun. It's possible with a good connection when playing online, but nothing compares to offline matches. I wish I had more friends that play. Haha.
I really hope a change gets implemented to sidewalk every heat smash consistently. It appears about half of the heat smashes in this game have tracking properties (I understand that it is not actual tracking but a large hitbox- you get the point).
If you could sidestep every single heat smash in the game, then what would the point of it at all? Heat dash would be the best option to get preassure frames, making all of them linear is not an option here. Imho just fine tuning it for every character is a much better option
@@Howfoolish. u can whiff punish with a heat smash also not everyone is gonna risk stepping an attack like a heat smash so ur talking about a very small % of people who will actively try and step the smash. also some heat smashes are fast af so like again its still not gonna be easy to step it if they reduced the tracking/hitbox of heat smashes it just gives more advanced players more options which is nice
@@Howfoolish. Sidewalk not Sidestep. There are dozens of Heat Smashes in this game where you have to be almost behind the opponent for them not to hit you. I think that is ridiculous and so does most of the active player base.
Thank youuu. Ive been looking for a video like that for a while now
Lili is the queen of sidestepping
Hwoarang gets 2 at once if he enters flamingo so i think he’s a bit better
Eddy in the corner sidestepping while in neutral
@@landhomer4627 isn’t eddys one of the worst lol?
Alisa has way better movement than Lilly
@rafal2675 Not a better side step, though.
Best side step guide I have seen
those weird 90° or 180° moments that comes from an attack that you think you are safe from because visually it appears that the opponent have lost you and then you try to hit them, but then Kablam!!!! force field activated!!! attacking character body sometimes weirdly turns around or the camera instantly follows to correct the animation making those weird and awkward moments.
Hope Harada buff Mike Tyson's hitbox much bigger and tracks spherically.
the main problem with T8 2:43
I really hope they fix this...
@@alexawef same
Really needed this video. Thank you so much.
What i hate about stepping is the off axis launch you hit them with, combos suddenly have to be more intuitive otherwise they’ll drop instantly, im so used to doing what i know just from being in front of the opponent that this situation tricks me alot. Using the tornado too early etc😂 i gotta work on that
Wow this 10 mins clip would take me deeper in my last week dojo tournament. This fixed my SS problem almost entirely.
Love these little guide videos. Keep up the good work mainman. Only thing I hope they fix for season 2 (besides nerfs etc) is bringing back the ability to consistently rematch. two matches is not enough to learn that much by playing the game and not everyone has hours to put into the lab.
alisa's heat smash is extremely steppable. I miss it all the time
That fanfic is fire I might draw it
Nice tips by the mainman❤
Last tournament fengs heat dash hit from 110°
Thank you so much!!
thank for the video
For that 1,1 SS check, I play Jun, would it be better to do SS4?
U can sidestep Reina's ff2 to the left ! but great vid
Quality video 🔥
What is the background theme?
I barely sidestep
im confused when to 'SS block" since it seems to cut your SS animation short. would you advise to SS commit and let the animation play out then punish if they whiff. or just SS block everything and if it whiffs, it whiffs and at least its safe and but definitely cuts the animation short. I'm assuming its the same principle as you said about getting obese the moment i press block
for reference, regarding SSL and SSR -- if a character is using a move with their right leg/arm, i should step to the left, and if they're using their left leg/arm I should step right? Basically step opposite to the limb they're attacking with? This has confused me for a while
Not really? Sometimes it works like that and sometimes it doesn't , so I thing it's better to just test individually while you're watching your replays if you encounter a move that you don't know how to step
I dont have an answer for this, but reacting to what body part your opponent uses and then confirm it and THEN side step accordingly sounds impossible. You just have to learn what moves your opponent uses, and there are lots of videos out there for drills and what can be ducked/SS etc on most common moves on popular characters.
No, you always sidestep to that specific characters weak side
Get the ss chart for each character on the net and memorise it or print a copy
My smile keeps fading away the longer I keep playing T8
Been playing Tekken for 24 years and still can't side step without getting launched
I just got Tekken 8 recently how do I turn into devil with heat without doing the immediate attack kazuya does after?
Press heat then tap back twice
Yeah and if Dragunov wants to do his fff2? Can sidestep it with idle animation.
I love shit like this. Stepping in tekken is so good, especially when you play a character that has good steps like dragunov. I love basically turning into shimmy neutron and being just out of range but bc his limbs are so long being 6+ ft tall, b4,3 into a wall in SO fucking satisfying. Just hit raijin for the first time yesterday and it was ultimate neuron activation.
Try Lili...out of this world sidestepping
@@Redwill85ain’t no one wanna be a Lili player chief
I love that Dragunov’s stepping is one of the best of all characters but at the same time your strongest tool against him is to step😂 it kinda feels right
@@martinmonroe7082 Right lmao it’s oddly fitting
congrats dude, well done🎉
Must watch video 😨
I love u MainMan
The advice about not stepping when the opponent is in heat is very character specific.
For example, against characters like Dragunov, Azucena, Steve, etc im still looking for sidesteps and sidewalks whereas against characters like Jin, King, etc. I'm not taking that risk at all.
Which Tekken 8 character improves fundamentals the most
Shaheen
Any character with a decent jab, a generic df1, and a bufferable 15f could be considered "standard tekken" characters for learning the fundamentals
So if you want to play/learn "standard tekken" I would avoid character's who are missing 1 or more of these tools (also sway movement character might be considered "non standard"...although this could force you to get a clean KBD)
I might avoid:
Bryan (no generic df1, backsway movement)
Kazuya (no generic df1 or bufferable 15f launch punish, also terrible jab is of note)
Steve (sways, no 15f launch)
xiayou/yoshi...kinda specialist type characters, although yoshi seems to be able to play good standard tekken now
And i might avoid Raven
Of course there are pros to learning with these characters too
This is just my opinion please don't attack me
Paul
Lars ist Pretty easy and has a generic df1 and a 1 2 jab string:)
I guess you can learn core Tekken with him. Only thing people have to get used to is the Stances.
@@runayswarts970 thank you dear, why would i attack you ?? , very good answer and up to the point.
my main is yoshi simply bcz he is my favourite since tekken 3, but i wanted another character to learn fundementals more.
again thank you very much , really helpful.
Tekken casuals: lethal with big moves
Experienced Tekken players: lethal with smaller moves
I find it the most reliable to sidestep df1 if I'm -3
cool!
I never side step as it shows a form of weakness
Kazuya mains STAND UP
I realise that stepping into button was more effective in T7 for me. In Tekken 8 I barely step at all. Except for in the start of the match to see if my opponent is a masher or not. Often the realignment clips me anyway so well... Why step then? I get pros and higher level players can make stepping more useful and effective. For me like Arslan. I'd rather fuzzy while I try to download my opponent's habits so I can shut them down and nuke them while they are still restrategizing works better than trying to read for me.
sidestepping is like ducking, you have to guess, sidestepping on reaction is like blocking lows on reaction and only works in specific scenarios. You're not sidestepping a jab on reaction
Still waiting for that TMMSWE Pink hair Hworang Fanfic
even as a Reina main, I want to see other Reina mains fall apart if they make raiden steppable
Ah yes Reina, the controller of space and time lmfao.
Why do people always say that Raiden is impossible to sidestep? I see people sidestepping that move plenty of times.
Sidestepping in virtua fighter is so much better.
I already gotta disagree. There are a ton of heat engagers and heat smashes that you can side step in neutral that people just throw out. You just gotta know what you're trying to step
I was thinking the same. Like Reina is stepable as hell. I play her and it happens all the time
❤
Reina is controlling Space and Time more than Ciri
So they made Reina ilegal to sidestep...
I hear and agree with you but I didnt spend months perfecting a lightning fast sidestep electric to be cucked by facts and logic.
The whole cast is so OP that Kazuya and devil jin the only classic Mishimas feel out of place in their own game 💀
I think excluding top 5 or 10 they is not that bad like yall say
@@BuffaloBill879 they’re not ! I love playing them but they don’t have half the tools that most character do and it’s frustrating sometimes because they are the coolest chars.
@ZH-fc8dw bro I'm a dvj main I know the character
@@BuffaloBill879 good for you now learn how to conjugate the verbe be
@@ZH-fc8dw why u being salty
Summary: just play Lili, because whatever the fk she’s doing is definitely better than a sidestep. For the first time today, this 4 frame delay and 5 frame rollback Lili actually almost consistently sidestepped after den 3. It was insane.
Reina is easy to deal with mids. I’ve flustered so many Reina players with king’s down 1,2 that it makes them brain fart. “What, I can’t do my million hit combo and have to actually play tekken now!?!”. Add side stepping and they rage quit.
Diabetes box! HAHAHAHAHAA
You sure can duck and sidestep tf out of Bryan tho 😞 (give my main faster mids please harada)
Swag
This dude hates Hwoarang istg he’s the “practice dummy” 90% of the time lol
Also I know the point you were making about while running 3 is that is very sidestepable like peacekeeper, but because throws have tracking in 8 a good mixup is using 1+2 throw like your king it gets a lot of people. I guess I’m just warning that it can be a mixup if the player knows the risk of the move. But yea most likely garyu hwoarang isn’t doing that.
*watches video*
Me: Nah, I'd 2D.
Lol you should have said knee... lol arslans cant be the definition of not over committing lol Arslan is doing launch punishable lows and everything 😅🤣😂
side stepping is irrelevant vs some
for example characters like claudio
I have no idea why tmm thinks raiden is homing, got rekt by one too many reinas in ranked maybe? It's linear to the right lol
Second yay
The Problem with Side Stepping and Side walking is....THROWS tracking....So you manage to side step correctly your opponent ?
CONGRATULATIONS now react to this grab...as it stands right now side stepping is not rewarded consistently because of the Throw system and certain moves with hit boxes that should that track at all
If you can't break a throw after stepping that's a skill issue. Why wouldn't a throw track? You're grabbing them with both arms. How do you sidestep a throw?
@@Sammysapphira " Why wouldn't a throw track?"
-Sammysapphira
Clearly you haven't played tekken 1-7
good job exposing yourself for everyone to see
If we mash ki charge during throw doesn't it guarantee break in most common throws except specific inputs?
SWE a Reina main? I'm disgusted 😆
hitboxes going through other hitboxes from behind has to be some pretty lazy game design
tell your mother I don't care
Me watching this knowing I play bears 🥲
2:44 i disagree completely how can you say to a begginer to not sidestep during heat when there are many heatsmashes that are very stepable (except for jin's) and that is even more of a thing for a begginer because begginer ranks spam heat smash right after heat burst
So basically, SS is trash. I ain't learning this bs. They need to fix it or F this game. For real. Straight sh!t like Demon Paw or a string rotates 180° mid move to hit me when i done took his back. Hell naw. Been playing Tekken since 3. Seriously on and off since 5. If they wanna take away skill for the sake of show and entertainment for people who aint even playing then im out. Sacrificing the integrity of the game for a few $$$ from a few scrubs who wont stay for more than 2 months. I'll be back for the defense patch. If this aint fixed then I'll skip this Tekken just like i did 6.
Tekken 8 is nearly dead
Dw guys us casuals are getting bored too
No matter how u upload about it this game is still suck, it could’ve been the greatest tekken of all time if it was without heat and chip dmg.
I disliked my comment dislike it too pls
I will update dislike counter😅
Hwoa completely lost its identity, with every goddamn character being a rushdown character now. And being better at it to. Only good move he has is jfsr. The one from stance really isnt that great. Other chars can do the same while not in stance.
The game is watered down in general
They made every character so remedial dumbasses can mash without any thought, in tekken 7 characters had their different styles, no everyone is just aggressive pressure oriented, ima keep saying this, tekken 8 isn’t real tekken
@@jenpachi2408 this isn’t a real tekken game
