These lists don't exist to make people who use easy characters feel bad; they exist to soothe the egos of people who use hard characters so they can still feel superior after they've had their shit kicked in =P
@@afroraykun Nah, stuff like this comes out of frustration. They tell you to pick a character just because they appeal to you and then you end up with one of the hardest characters in the game. You dedicate yourself like crazy and then regularly get steamrolled as the other player using a boss character starts ki-charging as if they accomplished something special. Of course there is a point in the game where people get so good that it hardly matters how strong a character is. This is about learning a character though, not the entire experience of them.
“Why is your main so humble and cool, and everyone else is a dumb piece of sht.” Is the realest quote I’ve ever heard regarding tekken. I love how he admits that xiao is busted but shuts down everyone dismissing his opinion before he elaborates on why she’s hard to use.
@@jadennathan912 nah. I chose the reality of Steve in T7 and now he's the only MFer I know how to play. Buff my boy. forced LH is cringe. and give me back my mid CH launchers and my double duck in guard break you scumbags.
The general opinion of every character always seems to be "They're strong so they must be easy to play". Makes it very obvious when someone has not touched a character at all, and then they wonder why they're losing to them all the time.
@@Charonite-vk2lpmost of his chain grabs can be broken by holding either 1 or 2, if you can’t grab break on reaction then you just need to practice it for awhile
I will say I agree with the Reina placement, a lot of people swear up and down she's easy and can just mash in your face but that's really a case of you letting her get away with it. If she uses ff2 into 3 everytime, just backdash after blocking ff2, the 3 whiffs and she explodes for instance, if she goes for 4 everytime jab her out of it if she delays even a second. This is a wall a lot of Reina's just can't overcome (hence her horrid win loss) You can sort of dumpster your way through to red ranks as Reina with no execution and no fundamentals, but then again so can everyone. Once you hit red ranks you run into your first wall and have to actually learn all your moves, then you reach Tenryu or Mighty Ruler and you will end up hardstuck there unless you actually learn the game, its around that point where you have to start learning wave dashes, actual defense, other fundamentals and stuff because people will not let you get away with murder anymore and your lows suck, so you need to get good at the game to compensate. So red ranks and lower you're getting beaten by bad Reinas because you're bad too and she just mashes better, at purple ranks or higher you e losing to Reina because she's better at the game than you
I think raven is difficult. You can get away with dumb shit vs low ranks for sure but managing back turn and flowing between stances without getting stuck is tough, all his tools and pressure are based on mental frame advantage, 14f df1, no launcher until 16f, ravu wavu is tough. He's not particularly strong either. Has to take a lot of risk to get anything done.
Raven in T8 he's very unique, sick and dope so far... but only thing that they buff are his pokes, his Soulzone Stance it's leagues better than Master Raven's Haze Stance because the transition of moves are coming quicker, but he still has no 15 frame launcher or a solid 15 frame punish, his hopkick remains to be a joke of a oribital heel, but that's all fine because not every character in the game should have the same tools, so he still remains to some degree very unsafe. His one good low down 3 use to be plus but got nerfed, so now his neutral lows are't very solid and all of his stance lows are launch punishable. All of his shadows are 14 frame punishable so it is more in the opponents favor to interrupt him, he also lost his Magic 4, d/f4 and qcf 1 no longer launches on hit or counter hit, his backturn grabs are gone, because you can do now only generic grabs from his BT. So they turned him into an unsafe character relying mostly only on his mix ups gimmick to do very good with him in the right hands of use of course. So when most characters in this game are mix up characters they just get more reward and less punishment. If they at least made some of his shadows -12 on block then I think that it would make him a lot better, other than that he's gonna rely mostly on his Shenanigans. 🤷🏻♂️☯️✌️
Tekken players just as r3tarded as ever. Difficult doesn't equal weak and vice versa. I swear most of yall talking shit never even been to blue ranks, most of the players shouldn't really talk about the game at all, it's not just a shame but a pain to read.
The way a lot of commenters are whining about certain characters, like Bryan, is pretty telling about what the median player struggles with. I don't even mean this as an insult, its just really really telling about how different of a game it is compared to higher level of play when people have good matchup knowledge and have a higher defensive proficiency versus people who are still familiarizing themselves with the system, don't know the knowledge checks or the very specific answers to troublesome moves or weird gimmicky strings they haven't seen before.
But what about Devil Jin? I cannot believe that’s a hard character. This is my first Tekken. I play Alisa and struggle to incorporate chainsaws without getting punished. I’ve been practicing, and have everything but while rising, sidestepping, and chainsaw moves down. I hit Garyu. Next I play King. I can’t even rank him out of Calvary. 200 games, I’ve won 13!!! (I can’t do the input throws) Then I pick up Devil Jin and hit Shinryu in 100 games!!! I played 1k on Alisa to hit Garyu. DJ is braindead strong and much easier than Swe thinks. Swe put him so high, which is also his 2nd main. Just a tad fishy…
TMM be like: Kazuya, Reina and Bryan are hardest because on high level of play they struggle. but Nina and Zafina are easy, because they struggle only on high level of play
Zafina isn’t even easy at lower ranks also. He put her in the same tier as King who can win games at low ranks with zero combos because his damage output is insane.
Lol as a Feng main I was so offended, but agreed with 90% of the analysis 😂 My only gripe is that no one seems to talk about the fact that because what makes Feng so good is that his kit has something for EVERYTHING, that you can only use him to his full potential by memorizing and using his ENTIRE moveset. That shit ain't easy. When I get lazy with Feng, I get read super easily. I'm sure it's like that with most chars. But he's def not pick up and play and requires a massive amount of familiarity with all of his moves plus situational awareness. I think that's why we're not seeing a lot of Feng in tournaments right now.
@@terrellestephens8922 What are you talking about, Feng is always all over tournaments. I can’t imagine anybody playing Feng for any reason other than the fact that he is strong because he seems highly unappealing in every other way.
@@bonfist7277 Feng main simce Tekken 5 here 🎉🎉🎉 I was 5 years old when my dad got tekken 5 and when we played together i saw this mf and thought he was cool. It's been 15 years of beeing a feng main (i am 20) and i absolutely acknowledge everything about him being busted. That's why i learned many different characters as well😂 my 2nd main is now kazuya at raijin (feng wei at bushin right now) wonder if kazuya is busted beyond belief.
Wow you put so much work in this video it's actually insane. Very informative with a side of classic TMM rant - really enjoyed it, I'm glad you took a while to explain some characters you usually don't, like the Bears (only saying stuff like "a lot of bullshit, no one knows the matchup, no hitbox" and that's it).
yep I agree, I'm completely new to Tekken 8 and I'm a boxer so I played Steve for 20 hours and had a very very rough time learning the fundamentals. As soon as I switched to Azucena I started actually improving on what to sidestep what to duck and frame advantage. Love her shes fun to play and we speak the same langauage! As a lightweight boxer I also live off Coffee.
After it became common knowledge that power crush bears lion heart steve has become so much harder to win with, as you said it feels like you just straight up have to outplay everyone in neutral then get rewarded with low damage.
This is a good list. I just hate that people think just because a character is on the easier side, they're going to fully get carried. It only works till u get to the actual high ranks where knowledge matters. In high ranks you have to really excel with jin, lars, and even asuka since her moves aren't the fastest and people can easily punish them.
Thats why these types of tier lists are pretty useless and inconsistent to make. Its better to either make a tier list for each separate skill level or to have an execution-gameplan chart
That’s what players need to realize. Just because a character is easy to use, doesn’t automatically mean they’re easy to utilize. Great example is Claudio. Even though he may be “easy to use”, he’s very difficult to utilize due to majority of his moves having negative frames, being too honest and having minimal pressure. But then again, most of these players don’t dig that deep down and just look at what’s on the surface.
I appreciate you for breaking down Xiaoyu and understanding that she is difficult. Heavily a setup character. Thanks for also saying she's not braindead. She gets a lot of hate. I understand SHE IS BROKEN. But maining her for all these years have certainly helped me be pretty good at defense. 💯💯🙏🏾
Dvj still does insane damage with minor execution, a hellsweep that hits grounded, launching panic move, full throw game. he is not locked to execution as much as before
@@Tk.Bogarts I made Garyu in literally 2 days and haven't played and posted since then 💀 what the fck are you talking about lol. I can bet my kidneys I'll beat your ass. @@Tk.Bogarts well I'm a Tekken King now so stfu :) me being a low rank back then meant I had no time to play rank, which I still don't. So stfu and enjoy getting blown up by low IQ idiots.
lee definitely got easier in t8, but i still feel like he deserves very difficult, maybe at the bottom of it if u were to rank the characters in each tier, but def up there.
Agreed, although I'm only red rank so I don't get all the ins and outs. Changes to his b3,3 and nerfs to every other magic 4 make things easier, but not easier than DJs heat bs for example. And his CH fishing is buffed just by the virtue of the game's aggressive playstyle, but he doesn't have much for keep out against aggressive characters with good reach imo
@@ryanvibert7245his CH game is buffed by the new speed and mechanics of the game but I feel like because of how much non CH stuff they removed a turtle now absolutely destroys Lee even more, and also now a lot of moves have blue spark moves and now u must implement while rising moves mid combo which all increase the difficulty
Yeah it's definitely very hard at high level, which makes no sense because this is supposed to be based on high level play, I'm nearly blue rank and devil Jin Hella/ Bryan are easy compared to lee
Not being able to fly on block with samsara really hurts your options as DJ in a game where most characters have a lot of cheap shennanigans to get you, but what its worse the f4, 3 is practically useless unless you win the mental games and make your opponent press on the second kick. Hitting the first one doesnt guarantee the second one which is launch punisheable on block. I would love a nerf to his crusher just to get the fly option back.
Putting Shaheen in easy and lili in intermediate is crazy, those are the only two characters i play in this game and I can't imagine a universe where lili is the harder of those two characters to play personally.
He's wrong about some of the things he said about Steve, for example, he said Steve no longer has "guard break" but he does. Steve is pretty strong, which is why we're seeing him in tournament play still.
@@funkrates4778Compare to most characters in the game he isn't that strong . You have to work way harder with Steve compare to 90℅ of the characters . Even the new Steve tech is really difficult to use in an actual match .
@@DiegoXRA Yeah. I agree. But like most-actually all characters-once you play them a lot, they become like a second skin. I think once someone has developed an affinity for Steve, he's actually a pretty good character. Not the stronger, for sure, as he was in previous versions, but he's still pretty strong IMO.
Steve's need to constantly enter, exit and cancel stances just to make mediocre moves safe is exhausting. As a new Tekken player, it's getting really irritating and I'm wondering why I bothered picking this character. Peekaboo cancelling from lionheart is really difficult and just the fact that you need to duck cancel to make df2, a non homing, non launching MID mid feels like garbage. I feel like I'm working weirdly hard in order to do literally nothing.
Currently top 100 with Panda. His explanation on kuma in the beginning was spot on. Knowing fundamentals as a bear player ends up running the timer. The bears don't have enough when it comes to fundamental moves.
Steve's Lion Heart is not always beaten by a power crush. You did ub2 and said that, but in this situation on hit you are actually +14 and don't have to worry about armor moves. The same with ws2,2 and f2,2(+11). Even after blocked Heat Smash (+8) LNH1 beats Power Crush, heat burst or Rage Art. Armor moves beat every Lion Heart option only after db3,2 b1,2 3,1,2 and 4,1,2 (+7 ) And you don't have to cancel Lion Heart to PKB to be able to block. You can just do DCK cancel, block and punish.
Claudio is my pocket character but I think he’s really under the radar. I’m literally beating Fujins with fundamentals alone. I have very low character optimization and only a week of practice. In a game that promotes aggression he kills with CH tools. Plus his running 2 in heat does CRAZY damage. I can do like 54 damage with that one hit alone. I’m literally robbing games with him
1:43:34 is the most important thing in this whole video. So many people will talk shit without having ANY idea of how these characters actually play. All they know is being on the receiving end of "bullshit" without knowing how hard the other player had to work for it, or how easy it would be to counter player if you labbed worth a fuck.
He hates her, thats it. Every character he hates deserves to be seen as braindead dumb character and you dont deserve your win. Thats an exageration xD, but seriously if you want an opinion less biased see the tier list of other people
@abdulkarimelnaas7595in all honesty I would never take any tier list ever seriously. They are fun but reductive and useless I feel overall and usually just used to make excuses like “it’s cause this is sooo hard, it’s cause it’s sooo easy” instead of just playing the game lmao
Playing as yoshimitsu, you hit the pints so well, but people never realize how many lives he has and how many options I have to ruin your day. It takes time and I’m still learning, but I just love how complex he is to adapt to scenarios and throw people off. Mashers and offensive players just don’t do well at all….I love the look of him as well, coolest character to me as a newbie😄
It's my first Tekken but not first fighting game ( and I'm usually high ranked on SF/Guilty ) and I picked Xiaoyu as a first char to go. I love to play setup characters because you can outsmart people and this is a fun thing to do. I'm Tenryu atm with Xiaoyu and I have Reina, Alisa, Jun, Steve and Yoshi between Garyu/Shinryu. It took me around 3h without lab to get to Garyu with Alisa and Jun. With Xiaoyu I had to lab alot, learn the combos, go trough all the skill list, watch games from pro to understand how the character was working. Honnestly, I probably spent like 50h in lab with Xiaoyu. She is really hard to play. People just repeat " AOP BROKEN NERF NERF " mindlessly. Yea, AOP is strong. But it's not unbeatable at all. I get hit all day in AOP by people mashing. It's very situational and not easy to setup. Hypnotist in my opinion is way more strong than AOP and for some reason people don't cry about it why ? Because your mash works against against hypnotist where it does not work against AOP. I think people get pissed off by Xiaoyu because it's a good character to make a fool of people pressing their linear strings or tech rolling. She is one of the knowledge check character from this game.
I put this is on as a bit of background entertainment while I played street fighter casuals. I looked away to play, looked back and my guy was drawing diagrams and doing fractions
I think raven is surprisingly difficult - as a raven main, you really need to understand the game well to make use of him. Other characters may be hard to use mechanically but game wise they dont require much knowledge. I'd say Shaheen is another character whos easy move wise but when it comes to execution and game plan he is difficult, just like how Bryan is hard execution and hard game plan in higher ranks
Bryan has no difficult execution other than TJU. TB4 can be done reliably with the proper input technique. No more Magic 4 pick up. Bryans high rank game plan is called "thinking".
Raven main here, yes he's not as straight forward as other characters especially now in T8 with how some reliable buttons for me have gained heat properties changing their situational usage. I've only picked him up in T7 and got used to backwards stance then, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around Soulzone/3+4 stance moves now.
I found Raven hard to play online just because of matches being limited to first-to-2. Feel like that character starts to excel once you've conditioned your opponent but ft2 just isn't enough time to do that, especially with all the cowards leaving after one game.
After watching the video, it seems like they made improvements to Law. Very happy with this change! For me, it was very difficult to use DSS in the various combos.
I simply do not understand how Bryan is the most difficult character. Every counterargument is "but hes hard to win with at high level". So is everyone.
I mean, TMM explained it. He's excruciating to play with against people who know the game. His moves are so limited compared to everyone else's BS. he's very honest and requires you to work very hard. Anything below Fujin is easy.
Bryan has one good low that is only accessible out of backsway. At the highest levels of play, everyone is so familiar with Bryan and how he operates so his only real way to open people up is to just be the better player. There's no gimmicks or knowledge checks to rely on
You really don't know Nina at all, yeah string spamming will get you to fujin but that's not the character, she's more execution demanding in t8 than she was in t7 due to new mechanics (new ender db2 into qcf4,3,1+2). also her gameplan is to get in opponent's face cause there's where her tools shine, with some space all of her moves tend to whiff due to being linear or not having much range (f4 as an addition helps but its far from a perfect get in move) she doesnt really have very good approaching moves (wr 1+2 is linear, slide is launch punishable and linear, and f4 can be floated and stepped easily aswell) and that's where good players with a decent defense will kill nina, she has to use a execution mechanic ss1 back cancel to get to open opponents cause all of her lows are 20 frames or slower (having a complete throw game helps a lot). Still Nina is pretty strong and competent in this game, but i just really don't understand your speech, you put paul whose weakness is quite similar to nina's in the same tier as her when she is literally 3 times more execution demanding than him...
that doesn't mean shit , he really relied on other people ignorance of the character and spammed some strings he didn't do any ss1 cancels which are crucial @@i_dont_have_a_youtube_chan8584
@@ahmedrahaim6877 by Tekken lifespan end, most people who were playing were people who were usually people who were top of skill. And ss1 isn't an essential it's just a solid wall carry technique. Again MainMan can do that, even made a guide on it ua-cam.com/video/RAEch2DQFZU/v-deo.htmlsi=3Mp-WQjvITE4Ulvg It's just something when you haven't practiced in a while it wouldn't be consistent
@@i_dont_have_a_youtube_chan8584 you are confusing ss1 cancels which are for neutral and ws1 loops. in that video he does not do all the variances of ws1 combos, doing them is easy if you have execution lol but nina literally has just frame ws1 pick ups. in that video he does the eaaaasiest part of the ws1 loop mechanic, i recommend you to learn more about nina cause you clearly don't know her either. and btw ws1 loops are necessary for optimal combos so you know.
I just wanted to mention briefly that the matchup knowledge argument for Kuma can also be applied at a lower level. As a new player to Tekken myself, I find that there is sooooo much to learn and most of the decisions I make are about the order or priority I want to learn the things in. A beginner player who has a Kuma playing friend might have very poor fundamentals, but win against a very high ranking Kuma who "cheesed" his way through the ladder. That phenomenon doesn't only apply at the highest level.
This is the first time I've seen you talk about Xiao in a very honest and objective way :D She's my main, and yes she is very strong in T8 (and lets be honest, us Ling mains have been waiting for this day for a long time), but she isn't pairing the evasiveness with every other tool like Feng, or the movement with every other tool like Alisa, or the mixups with every other tool like Azucena. She's one of those characters who needs practice, but once you get the practice, you can do some real crazy stuff. People lose to AoP down because they spam jabs, not realizing that AoP down needs a bit of timing to evade stuff. Xiaoyu forces people into a matchup where they can't autopilot their character. That's why they're mad. How do you beat it? Don't let her autopilot. Keep the Xiao on her toes, keep her guessing, and put her in a situation where she has fewer options. That's when she needs to take huge risks. Xiao players love when you come in with obvious BS, cause she is designed to get around that. That's all. I'm based in Japan, and the landscape here, where I'm fighting Japanese and Korean players mostly, is very different. There are people I run into that have no idea what she's doing. There are people who know her stuff in and out. I can't cali roll spam, I can't randomly do AoP, and I can't just do HYP mixes. They all have that down at my level. That's when you need to be creative, and it's why I love playing her so much.
to those who don't understand why maimman calls bryan the most difficult character in the game... watch the FT10 set between Knee and Arslan. Arslan used Victor and brought the set to 7-3 against Knee's Bryan. It was painful to watch Knee do anything he can to break Arslan's defense. Then Knee switched to Dragonuv and won the set 10-9.
Bryan is pretty good beginner to intermediate. once you get to those tekken god ranks its 100% outplay. and this is the perspective mainman gives us because these are ranks he plays in.
Im a bryan main. I listened to this while working out. Hit 250 on bench for 8 reps while you were mentioning how bryan has no get off me tools. Neither do i, i just gotta push the weight off my chest.
I disagree, Reina is intermediate at best, I got Tekken king within 2-3 weeks and I wasn’t just playing Reina the entire time. Same with devil jin, I got up him up to kishin within the first few weeks when the game dropped and just stopped playing him. I agree kazuya and steve are very difficult to rank up, just got my kaz up to Tekken emperor and he’s my main who I play 70% of the time. But I feel like these lists are up to the player and how they feel when they play a certain character. I find jin more difficult than Reina tbh
@@georgeross18it’s just a personal opinion when I played ranked I found jin a lot tougher to play with and rank up, This may be due to Reina being a new character so not a lot of people know her moves as compared to jin ( when to duck or interrupt, side step ect)
@@skeletor1177i agree it blows my mind when people say jin is easy… im a pretty seasoned player and i can use any mishima in the game and out of everyone jin was definitely the hardest for me to rank up with
I don’t feel like Steve does no damage combo wise it’s more just overall pressure and neutral. He has 50/50s but they do no damage. The less damage the 50/50’s do the more I gotta keep doing them which gives the opponents more chances to guess right. That would be fine if the risk = the reward, but like Steve during pressure if the opponent guesses at minimum Steve is holding a 50/50 at most you can kill Steve. Same thing with his neutral buttons except the worse part being his best neutral buttons make you lose your come back factor. Steve can 1 million % steam roll though ESPECIALLY if you can’t react to grabs
Yeah, weird that we have to keep winning forced 50/50 over and over again, but they figure it out even once and you just die for it. “Safest” character in the game moment.
As someone who play Tekken from T2 and trying to main Yoshi for the first time I definetely think your analysis is perfect. I struggle to find an OP move with him, he seems to have a lot of easily parriable middle and high. The strenght is in the mix up but you have to know the entire arsenal and it's really difficult at first. And as you said you have to play him with a brain. I really hate when someone who never try a character say he's supereasy or things like that.
Nina and Zafina in easy category? Nah, I disagree. Sure, Nina has moves you can abuse especially with an average opponent, but at high level play better players will catch on to her spam and her execution can get very difficult imho. I do agree that she doesn’t have to rely on high execution quite as much as she did in previous Tekkens though. Zafina definitely has easier execution, but I feel she is very tricky to properly use and you have to work harder for wins. There’s a reason people are begging for buffs for Zafina.
It’s a rinse and repeat summary for Nina. However I do agree that she has less reliance on her high execution moves than the Tekken’s before. As you move up the ranks you’ll encounter more and more people that are able to punish her spammable strings, tho.
Out of all S tier characters I never saw that any Nina player beat TMM. Never. He got beated by every other S tier character but not Nina. She is super tough to learn on high levels, even harder than Kazyua. And he is keep saying that she is braindead and super powerfull by showing some beginner strings. Like WTF
Thank you for putting Alisa in very easy! A different streamer put her in I believe difficult/intermediate and I kept saying that she is easy! I play her!
Dear bryan haters, Playing bryan at an average skill level is not hard, noone has ever said that. You can ditch taunt entirely in low ranks and just dominate with counterhits the same way you can with any other "DeFeNsIvE pUnIsH cHaRaCtEr", whatever the fuck that means. The advanced tools involving taunt, doubletaunt, taunt-dashing, and the wall oki combos that tend to be se*ist or dont work on bears are where things begin to get difficult. Every character has something like this but not many among the cast are expected to do just frames for oki. But to call him the hardest? Hell no bruh its probably steve. Also I think lee gets too much hate in this game
Judging characters based on whether others know matchup or not is a joke. I understand that at low and medium ranks it may matter, but at high ranks not so much. Moreover, are we judging whether people know matchup or how difficult a character is to learn? You are talking about Raven, mentioning his move b1+2 which is used quite rarely, while not developing the basis of learning his CD (which is the basis of this character). What's more, you don't mention its lacks in neutral, such as the 15f launcher, its BT position, which has to be manually reversed and which is often obstacle in the beginning of learning.
I mean the comment proves his point. I don't know anything about raven and i probably won't because no one plays him. Maybe I might meet 1 in 50 matches. Plus no one labs every character people are more likely to sit start the game and go into rank without warmup
@@SesoKoza-ut4bd If you are going to spend the next 10 years in the red ranks, he may be right, but we are talking about the full potential of the character, not half of the spectrum of his possibilities. It's like you were considering Kazuya without taking wavu or pewgf into account. I've been playing Raven since t7 at high ranks and I must admit that high-ranked players know the basics of this character, so you can't play him assuming your opponent doesn't know matchup. It is also worth mentioning that a large part of the move list is transferred from the previous tekken, of course with a large number of changes, but it is not like this is a new character and no one knows him. So, as I mentioned earlier, MM did not mention the basic things of this character, such as CD (it is the equivalent of wavu and Raven's gameplay is largely based on it), such fundamental things as BT, SZN, etc. I do not require MM to know every character, but it was he who decided to make this tier list and omitted the foundation of the character, which is a significant mistake. For example, Anakin also made such a list and he, for example, referred to this character taking into account its full spectrum of possibilities and placed Kazuya right next to him -isn't it a big discrepancy?
Besides downloading TMMs combo vids on TZ 20 years ago and him being mad funny, these takes where he is brutally honest is why I have him at the top of content creators!
1:42:47 I'm glad you finally realise that Xiaoyu actually requires skill. People always call her spammy and unga bunga when she's the opposite... Compared to Victor, Azucena, Drag who got very high usage in this game....Xiaoyu is one of the least used characters. You can't spam with her contrary to all the dumb ignorant male players in the Tekken community. If you dont come up with a gameplan versus every single damn different character in the game, Xiaoyu can easily get blown up. I'm sick of hearing that shes braindead. It takes so much of my energy to use her in ranked. People complain AOP and her stances are too evasic but if you're not good at movement in this game, you can kiss evasion goodbye and you'll get absolutely clapped.
As a Drag player (relatively new to Tekken, played 100 hours of Tekken 8 and nothing else) I can say that many wins I get I don't even know how did I get them. Too much damage.
If Bryan's counter hitting from half screen, both players are probably terrible lol. Only move that can do that is 3+4, and better players can step it or space it out for a whiff punish. B1 essentially could to, but it's also so easy to read from afar.
@@thetrickster4899exactly I understood why people complained about him in 7 but to call him cheap in this game is absolutely insane he is 100% one of the harder characters to win with I've been stuck in tenryu for the last 2 weeks with him red ranks have been hell if I put the time I put into Bryan into Jin I'd probably be in purples probably near blues
Hi there Lars main here and yes he doesnt need a lot of execution but he's far from very easy once the opponent knows the matchup. From there you have to be very creative with the stances and use them wisely which comes with experience (obvious). Very easy against low level opponents, hard against strong opponents (that's why you dont see many Lars in tournaments
Reina might have a high skill ceiling but god damn is that character easy to pick up and flowchart. I main Bryan and after a week of playing her matched my peak rank(fujin). ff2 and df1 utility is so powerful and simple to use and there is so much more. I don't think its fair to say a character is hard because they have too many good moves. Does she actually have to play optimally? Hell no? Is her counter play obvious, no. Also db2 and hellsweep are not shit lows. My hot take is I honestly think Yoshi is harder.
db2 is a 20 frame low that does not high crush that is launch punishable and is -3 ON HIT. It absolutely is a shit low. Hellsweep is good though. That's the problem though, all her lows are either launch punishable, her safest low is -13. For that, she has one that's 20 frames minimum (ss4) that's neutral on hit. She has db4 which is i16, -13 but does legit like 7 damage and is still minus on hit. Her lows are objectively pretty terrible compared to basically every character in the game. But her mids are insanely oppressive, ff2 needs a nerf methinks.
@@PKrazorleaf I'm biased because I play her but I think it's gonna be one of those things where matchup knowledge is the most important. I can see many Reina players I go against struggling to win because I know her punishes and it's honestly kinda laughable sometimes how easy it is to beat her. I really suggest taking some time to pay attention to what's going on and see the flowcharts that these bad players use - once you get higher (or if you play her yourself) you'll see how locked in you have to be at all times to make things work on her. Also I wanna point out that as of the last winrate thing we saw, she's still on the bottom so I'm not sure if it's as easy to pick up and play as some people suggest - even in ruler+
I tried to play Jun after Reina and for me as a beginner, Reina was and still is a complete nightmare to play. Her inputs are much much harder to execute for a beginner, especially if you wanna do the electric version of all the windgodstep moves (which I still cannot do in real matches). Jun's inputs are so much easier and fun to use, also she has many more save moves that leave her with + on block. Most of reina's lows are minus on hit (except for the hellsweep and ss4 which is 0 lol) as it was said previously, so you have to guard most of the time after them. Also, spamming ff2 will not work forever because some players (mostly in higher ranks) can interrupt it perfectly each time Reina has a Sentai animation after ff2.
he says that Nina is easy but he can't do a difficult combo.... hypocrisy, I practically do the "difficult combos" with the kazuya that he plays and no, I certainly wouldn't put him in difficult
@@victormisterio wave/backdash/sidestep/combination of all three into electric on both sides can never be mastered. Even pro players like boa, knee, choksae and many others drop ewgf from time to time. Just learning ewgf is very different from becoming consistent with it and mastering it. His hardest execution hurdle isn't any of this tho, it's his launch punishing. Go and try to launch -14 and -15 attacks with electric and see how inconsistent it is. Kazuya's difficulty mostly comes from lack of panic moves and lackluster pokes which make him weak against pressure and good offense, making the character require good matchup knowledge, timing and defense to even function at the intermediate levels while most characters don't require any of that till higher levels.

This is a wall a lot of Reina's just can't overcome (hence her horrid win loss)
You can sort of dumpster your way through to red ranks as Reina with no execution and no fundamentals, but then again so can everyone. So red ranks and lower you're getting beaten by bad Reinas because you're bad too and she just mashes better, at purple ranks or higher you
e losing to Reina because she's better at the game than you
You couldn’t have said it any better my guy, but people are just way too biased sadly.
as a steve player i can only say it is so hard to play with him you are right in every word you said 😅.
Cook up, doubt he played much Raven
90% of the player base at purple and below dont even realize theyre only really playing at maybe 5% of the actual skill ceiling of the game.
(I can’t do the input throws)

My only gripe is that no one seems to talk about the fact that because what makes Feng so good is that his kit has something for EVERYTHING, that you can only use him to his full potential by memorizing and using his ENTIRE moveset.

This is a good list. I just hate that people think just because a character is on the easier side, they're going to fully get carried. It only works till u get to the actual high ranks where knowledge matters. In high ranks you have to really excel with jin, lars, and even asuka since her moves aren't the fastest and people can easily punish them.
Thats true, Lars stopped working for me once I hit Garyu and now I have to do the work.

Armor moves beat every Lion Heart option only after db3,2 b1,2 3,1,2 and 4,1,2 (+7 )
And you don't have to cancel Lion Heart to PKB to be able to block.
You can just do DCK cancel, block and punish.

Damn Mainman, you actually have developed a soft spot for Xiaoyu. Brings a tear to my eye. 🥲
I’m literally robbing games with him
Beating fujins with fundamentals just really make you a good player tho. Not that it makes claudio strong, he was better in 7

Yeah I agree, raven ain’t no walk in the park, difficult at higher ranks. I am currently having difficulty getting out of flame ruler. 😅😅
I found Raven hard to play online just because of matches being limited to first-to-2. Feel like that character starts to excel once you've conditioned your opponent but ft2 just isn't enough time to do that, especially with all the cowards leaving after one game.
bro try playing steve his gameplan is basically: read your opponent.
I don't really get your point.
Bryan has one good low that is only accessible out of backsway. At the highest levels of play, everyone is so familiar with Bryan and how he operates so his only real way to open people up is to just be the better player. There's no gimmicks or knowledge checks to rely on
The frame that bryan has is not that good to the all character the poking isnt good and the mid is suck
Suck to be bryan main need buff asap
You actually believe every character has the same level of difficulty spike at higher level
thank you for so much information! it just helped me a lot as a Tekken beginner
I hate that they completely simplified jin compared to how he was in T7 but atleast he isn't braindead.
From Heihachi in 7 to directly Bryan in 8 without knowing anything about him but man i love his fighting style
He has Tekken God Nina in T7
that doesn't mean shit , he really relied on other people ignorance of the character and spammed some strings he didn't do any ss1 cancels which are crucial @@i_dont_have_a_youtube_chan8584
@@ahmedrahaim6877 by Tekken lifespan end, most people who were playing were people who were usually people who were top of skill. And ss1 isn't an essential it's just a solid wall carry technique.

@@i_dont_have_a_youtube_chan8584 you are confusing ss1 cancels which are for neutral and ws1 loops. in that video he does not do all the variances of ws1 combos, doing them is easy if you have execution lol but nina literally has just frame ws1 pick ups. in that video he does the eaaaasiest part of the ws1 loop mechanic, i recommend you to learn more about nina cause you clearly don't know her either. and btw ws1 loops are necessary for optimal combos so you know.
gotta respect the man for his comments about the game and the community at 1:44:00
Been playing xiaoyu since T3. glad she got a glow-up.
Enjoy as long as you can, that wont last for much longer

I just wanted to mention briefly that the matchup knowledge argument for Kuma can also be applied at a lower level.
As a new player to Tekken myself, I find that there is sooooo much to learn and most of the decisions I make are about the order or priority I want to learn the things in.
A beginner player who has a Kuma playing friend might have very poor fundamentals, but win against a very high ranking Kuma who "cheesed" his way through the ladder. That phenomenon doesn't only apply at the highest level.
I’m kinda surprised how much tmm’s opinion changed on characters. Xiaoyu mains are gonna be shocked.

3 hours of MainMan in a single video. You love to see it
I disagree, Reina is intermediate at best, I got Tekken king within 2-3 weeks and I wasn’t just playing Reina the entire time.
Hey just curious you mind explaining how Jin is more difficult?
@@georgeross18it’s just a personal opinion when I played ranked I found jin a lot tougher to play with and rank up, This may be due to Reina being a new character so not a lot of people know her moves as compared to jin ( when to duck or interrupt, side step ect)
@@skeletor1177i agree it blows my mind when people say jin is easy… im a pretty seasoned player and i can use any mishima in the game and out of everyone jin was definitely the hardest for me to rank up with
Reina is still kinda like panda and Kuma as far as rank goes. Many don’t know the matchup so ranking up is pretty easy.
Same.
Pov: Red Rank Nina player
It’s a rinse and repeat summary for Nina. However I do agree that she has less reliance on her high execution moves than the Tekken’s before. As you move up the ranks you’ll encounter more and more people that are able to punish her spammable strings, tho.
Brooo wtfff zafina is easy asf
Out of all S tier characters I never saw that any Nina player beat TMM. Never. He got beated by every other S tier character but not Nina. She is super tough to learn on high levels, even harder than Kazyua. And he is keep saying that she is braindead and super powerfull by showing some beginner strings. Like WTF
Thank you for putting Alisa in very easy! A different streamer put her in I believe difficult/intermediate and I kept saying that she is easy! I play her!
Dear bryan haters,
Playing bryan at an average skill level is not hard, noone has ever said that.
Jesus, I was not expecting his take on Xioayu. Character development.
Am I the only one who only watches the part where he talks about your main lol

Wow 3 hour TEKKEN lecture from the main man ... Very interesting 😂😂😂

Yea. I have noticed that to. He is not consistent in the way he judges some characters.
Reina is the most controversial character when it comes to difficulty I swear lol nobody can agree on her
bryan being difficult is a lie to make bryan players seem like they god like but really they just counter hitting u from half screen
Play him if he's so easy dummy
yeah hes cheap
If Bryan's counter hitting from half screen, both players are probably terrible lol. Only move that can do that is 3+4, and better players can step it or space it out for a whiff punish. B1 essentially could to, but it's also so easy to read from afar.
@@thetrickster4899exactly I understood why people complained about him in 7 but to call him cheap in this game is absolutely insane he is 100% one of the harder characters to win with I've been stuck in tenryu for the last 2 weeks with him red ranks have been hell if I put the time I put into Bryan into Jin I'd probably be in purples probably near blues
@@AyCarpbro at this point every character is cheap including ur main
Hi there Lars main here and yes he doesnt need a lot of execution but he's far from very easy once the opponent knows the matchup. From there you have to be very creative with the stances and use them wisely which comes with experience (obvious). Very easy against low level opponents, hard against strong opponents (that's why you dont see many Lars in tournaments
Steve be like , lets poke the foe to death
May not do a lot of damage but damn it feels good
Good luck with that man in a game where everyone is Naruto and sasuke to even try to do something with Steve is impossible
For a Polish native speaker, part with Victor was hilarious. He spams while yelling: KUTAS! KUTAS! KUTAS! xD
Yeah i dont know what mainman is on about thinking reina is so hard. Shes the easiest and most allround mishima, lets be real.
Agreed, Reina is easy af
1:04:49 Well said yes a vast movelist has to be checked for yoshimitsu.
he says that Nina is easy but he can't do a difficult combo.... hypocrisy, I practically do the "difficult combos" with the kazuya that he plays and no, I certainly wouldn't put him in difficult
So you can do 31 cancels consistently? And sidestep electrics? Cry more
Gameplan matters more than execution. Execution matters much more when it is necessary for the character to function at a basic level.
@@ConcaveSaint bro, if Kazuya's hardest part is doing electric and side steps with electric then I'm a pro player with him
He has Nina at Tekken God in T7 and that was the weaker variant
