@@Av-vd3wk It is pre rendered. You can't get that quality in real time. Real time is good and simplifies your workflow, but when you're happy with the look of your shots, you render them out in higher resolution and quality. That's why most of the time, if you look at the games, the cinematics look better than the game itself
This was so well done, it does not need any allowances made for its fan film status. If the entire finished film had run just 10% faster, it would have matched the pacing of the original. The production values were better than the original in some places: and why not! Fans today have a great tradition to build on, which didn't yet exist for Lucas and Co. My biggest problem was the voice of C3PO. I don't think it matters that the voice was different, but the character was different. 3PO is more brisk and assertive with his comments. And he is often impatient and at times contemptuous of R2D2.
Amazing work! The fact that this looks so good, pre Unreal 5 launch, got me wanting to see what is made in the next 5 years once more developers have access!
Thanks! Honestly, can't wait! UE5 is going forward really fast and made an impact on the film industry already. Let alone the fact that the creators were given the best tool ever!
Do you know www.youtube.com/@EpicallyCasual ? For the Empire Season 1 is hilarious. Pity that Season 2 is not quite as good, but there is hope for a better future.
For a fan film, 9.5/10. The graphics were very good. The transitions were spot on, very Lucas/Star Wars. The voice of C3PO can totally be forgiven, made up for by the interactions of the characters and that they conveyed more with beeps, woteenies and chitter chatter than actual words. Well done.
The voice of C3PO can be overlooked since he is apparently equipped with advanced vocoder hardware which can mimic all sorts of voices anyhow. The woteenies - along with all the other Jawa speech, noises, and behaviours - are actually very entertaining.
Thank you for bringing a very George Lucas like feel to a Star Wars fan film. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, with the hammer hitting the nail right on the head.
Really like how this completed a story arc for C3PO where it is his strengths (translation and protocol) that allows the mission to be successful - nice job!
I have to admit, I am not a Star Wars fan whatsoever but this is absolutely incredible. I’m completely blown away by the photorealism and quality. I can’t believe it was done by one person. Fantastic job my friend!!!
From an editors perspective, this inspires me so much man, Compositions and camera-movement were on point and you nailed scene-transitions and sound design + the focal points were perfect. 10/10
this amazing team did wayyyyy better in their 8 minute clip than disney (despite all their tech 'wizardry; and super-arrogance) did in the pathetic last 3 films. Keep up the amazing work people. You never know who you're inspiring. :)
Thank you! It's so good knowing that we could give our fellow Star Wars fans that feeling! I know the SW Universe grew so much in scope and scale that the original vibe got dissolved along the way. I wanted to bring some of it back as genuinely as I possibly could :)
The Rise of Skywalker alone took more than $1 billion worldwide... so as much as we may love the scaled down, authentic feel of these fan films and indeed the originals - you and me and every other sucker/idiot that paid to go see them unfortunately just says to Disney they're doing a bang up job. I mean $1 billion! For one of the worst films ever made... It's mind boggling...
@@thejagman22 Yeah, I agree they "broadened the stylistic range" by a lot, however the younger viewers seem to like those... I'm grateful for one thing - they allow us, the Fans, to create freely within this Universe and express our love for it that way
@@lunarismaarfilms Well, maybe... so long as they don't make significant money. Then I reckon the Disney lawyer-bots would be on you faster than you can say "laser-sword".😂 Great video btw - I love it. May there be many more!
Great film. The visuals were fantastic. I was drawn in so much that I wanted more from the story. What was that crashed pod? Why did Luke want it so bad? Where does this fall in the Lucas storyline? (Questions like this happen when you put out a good product and people want MORE)
We see the "fair trade" worked out between R2D2 and the Jawas. But I'm curious what "fair trade" ("special arrangement") C3PO made with the Jawas. Did he actually deceive the Jawas, deceive R2, or even offer R2 as bait? Is he more of a lying and manipulative _political_ droid than a loyal and trustworthy _protocol_ droid?
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. Actually I thought about writing the lines for Jawas, but finally I decided to go with leaving the words to viewer's imagination, only suggesting emotions involved
Some of these fan made shorts, are far better visually than the original movies of the 70's and early 80's. Its amazing what people can do these days visually with home computers. I am pretty sure the software and production was still pretty expensive though.

...right. Why were they "landing there again"? Why is it R2 can find the one smooth path to roll in rocky, mountainous terrain? What was the actual 'fair trade" as I didn't see any deal or trade occur? Decent, but full of holes this video is.
Amazing use of UE5, congratulations on making a film that captures everything that has the feel of the original Star Wars trilogy. What is truly incredible here is that if George Lucas had this technology, Episodes I - III still would've been crap.
Top class VFX skills. I hope to see you create your own world building, design and original script too. I mean that in a positive way. We all love star wars. But you can clearly make your own completely original property as well ( IP ) and make a hit short film.
