SuperM's performance of "Wish You Were Here" was a special celebration for their 1st anniversary, which was in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. The song was particularly meaningful because we were all facing the reality of social distancing and the fact that we couldn't see each other or participate in the normal celebration activities, etc. Therefore, they are literally singing about how they wish that everyone was able to be together and how we need to remember we can still find those personal connections through listening to their music and having fun with them even though we can't physically be together. The members of SuperM are all about positivity and light and I wish more people would embrace them as a group and discover how amazing they really are. I hope SM finds a way to keep SuperM together and they eventually release more music. They are what this world needs to bridge the divide between cultures, generations and countries.
SuperM's entire concept and storyline is connected to EXO's storyline. The Kai and Baekhyun we see in SuperM are the same characters from EXO's storyline. SuperM is like another chapter in EXO's story.
SuperM features 7 of the best of the best when it comes to dance, vocals, rap and performance in Kpop. The members of SuperM are some of the top artists from SM Entertainment's most popular groups.
From left to right, the members are:
    > Ten is the main dancer and lead vocalist of NCT-U/WayV. He is native Thai -- SM's first, and currently only, Thai artist -- but he attended an international school growing up in Thailand, so he also speaks English fluently, and because he his a member of NCT's Chinese/international sub-unit he also is fluent in Korean and Mandarin and he is currently learning Japanese.
    > *Baekhyun, who is one of the best vocalists in the industry from EXO. He is the leader of SuperM.
    > Lucas, who is a former rapper and visual of NCT-U/WayV, who just debuted as an SM solo artist at the beginning of 2024. He is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, so his native language is Cantonese, but he's also fluent in Mandarin and he also speaks a little Thai because his mom is Thai and some English.
    > *Taemin, who is one of the top two dancers in the industry, with one of the most well respected solo careers, as well as the maknae of the legendary group SHINee. SHINee and Taemin are also one of the top artists in Japan, so he is also fluent in Japanese.
    > Taeyong is the leader of NCT, and he is a main rapper and dancer from NCT-U/NCT-127. Because Taeyong is the leader of NCT -- which is one of the most international groups in the industry, with 25 members that speak at least 8 different languages as a whole -- his native language is Korean, but he also learned English, Mandarin, Japanese and Thai, etc. in order to be able to communicate with all his members and fans in their native language.
    > *Kai, who is the Kpop industry's other top dancer from EXO.
    > Mark is a main rapper and dancer from NCT-U/NCT-127/NCT-Dream, as well as the leader of NCT-Dream. He is Korean-Canadian, so his first language is English.
The concept for SuperM is supposed to be like the Avengers, so I see it as each of the members are a different kind of superhero that make up the larger "Avengers" group. Just like how the Marvel Avenger members come together from all walks of life with all different abilities and powers, etc. to make up one big supergroup, SuperM has a similar storyline.

"Woof Woof" is part of the cute section of SHINee's SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul from 2015. "Woof Woof" is just one of those fan service fun stages they do as part of their fun set during the concert. (This was almost exactly 2 hours into their 3 1/2 hour concert, so they have been going full out for hours at this point. In this concert they perform more than 30 songs all while singing live with high energy choreography the whole time.) They also have fun stages for "321" and "Girls, Girls, Girls," etc.
Jonghyun passed away, Dec. 18, 2017, so you will see him in everything you watch from SHINee up until that point.
Taemin is the blond with the short dog ears, Jonghyun is the blond with the long ears and the power vocals, Key is the one with the grey hair, Onew is the one with brown hair and Minho is the tall one in all red, who is the main rapper.
At this point Onew, Key, and Taemin were also stage actors, so they have been in several musical productions of famous plays. And Minho is a top TV and Movie K-drama actor, who in 2024 is currently starring in his first musical production of "Waiting for Waiting for Godot". Plus, they are all known for having amazing comedic timing -- Jonghyun, and SHINee, are famous for their appearances on the live sketch comedy TV show SNL (Saturday Night Live) Korea. And SHINee's voices are all well suited for broadway-style songs, so they like to show off this side of themselves during concerts.
If you're curious what the song is about, you should look up the lyric video. You might be surprised when you read the lyrics. The song is pretty much about meeting a girl that you like so much that you want to be her pet. They are essentially saying, "Hey girl, do you like dogs? Come on over here I can be your pet." "I will follow you around like a puppy and let you pet me and play with me." etc. Treat me like your puppy and I will follow you anywhere. LOL Most people are surprised that such a cute stage performance has lyrics that are actually kind of racy when you think about it. ;P (They're wagging their tails because they are supposed to be dogs and it gives them an excuse to shake their butts and get a reaction from the audience. LOL)
Fun fact: Key designed the outfits you see them wearing in this performance, as well as several other outfits in this concert. If you notice, the fabric their outfits are made out of has British-style red phone booths on it, which is a nod to the theme of this concert. (They add the ears and tails special just for this song.) In an earlier set of the concert they have 5 phone booths on stage and the members use them as props in their song "One Minute Back," and if you watch their "Excuse Me Miss" performance, which is from this same concert, you will see the phone booths at the end of that performance.
What Key said, in English: "That's real brass by the way." He was confirming for you that that was a real band and what you were hearing were real brass horns being played, not prerecorded computerized horn sounds.
Also, did you understand why Minho said, "For all my guys in the west coast, D O double G"? He was making a joke and referencing the American slang dogg and the American rapper Snoop Dogg. That's why he laughed like that.:D That was Minho's iconic laugh. When you get to know him more you will understand what we mean. Minho's laugh makes me smile every time I hear it. It warms my heart to see SHINee so light-hearted in these moments.
SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Their main vocalists are pretty good rappers and their rappers can fill in as main vocalists at any time. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most Shawols (SHINee fans) will tell you we can tell who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with our eyes closed with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. I can tell who is singing every line of their songs even if it's a brand new song that I have never heard. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop".
SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. So unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live.
And EVERY time SHINee performs a song it will be different than what you have experienced before. That is why SHINee are one of the best performers in the industry. SHINee live is just as good the 100th time you see them perform a song as they are the first time you see it because they always make it unique. You never get tired of their songs because they know how to make it seem like a whole new experience every time.
SHINee literally set the standard when it comes to live performances. It is actually known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are Idol's Idols and legends among legends for a reason. They are one of the groups that pretty much made Kpop what it is today.
Someone has reuploaded the whole concert DVD of SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul -- the whole 3+ hours -- and it even has English subs for all the parts where they interact with the audience, right in the video, ua-cam.com/video/oD1thSFdIbY4/v-deo.html. It really feels like you are right there at this concert. You should watch this whole concert sometime on your own, even if you can't react to it. :D You really can't fully grasp just how magnificent of performers SHINee are until you watch a full concert from beginning to end and see what makes a SHINee concert so unique.

Although "Amigo" sounds like the Spanish word for friend, in Korean A.Mi.Go was/is a well known acronym for the Korean phrase that means, something like: "You will suffer on your way to falling in love with a beauty." So, the story in SHINee's "Amigo" MV is about how the girl stole Minho's heart. She took his heart and left him with the pass that is hanging around his neck. She has unfrozen him with her touch and put color back into the world. However, as the song says, "Cold heart, baby ... Cold eyes, baby." They are saying they have fallen for her, but as "the ice princess," she is always unavailable and just out of arm's reach. Although, they can't help falling for her anyway. That is why Minho is chasing after her. If you notice, she is always one step ahead of him. He can never catch her no matter how hard he tires. That is why she is the "Ice princess." she is sexy and intoxicating, but she is always playing hard to get.
The MV is literally depicting every word of the song. As the English translation of the lyrics say: "go, I run, ... Challenges are always fun, ... But the world isn’t as easy as it seems. ... I lose my mind when I see her, ... I'm unable to grasp her by this hand," etc. The story in the MV makes a lot more sense when you combine it with the lyrics.
Yes, "Amigo" is an early song. The person who recommended this song was following the order of the release of SHINee's songs. You've watched their first two songs, "Replay" and "Love Like Oxygen," so "Amigo" was their next release. "Amigo" is the song that they promoted with along with "Love Like Oxygen," so it was also released in 2008.
Therefore, Onew and Jonghyun (with the yellow shirt) were 18, Key (one of the rappers) and Minho (main character with the black shirt) were 16 and Taemin (with the blue T-shirt) was 15.
On a side note: Minho is the visual of the group who is known for his natural model good looks. His nickname is Flaming Charisma and he is also known for being super athletic and competitive, so that is why he is the member who is chasing the girl. In real life Minho doesn't stop until he wins and he hates to lose. He is good at almost every sport so he very rarely loses. :D But even he is no match for the "ice princess."
Minho has the deepest voice, so SM made him the group's main rapper, and Key is the lead rapper. (Key is also fluent in English, so you might notice that his rap style sounds a little more western.) But, because SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group, they were all trained in rapping.
Next to R&B, I think Rock is SHINee's next best genre of music and they often do rock style remixes of their songs at their concerts. You should check out their rock version of "Amigo" during their first SHINee World Concert world tour in 2011, ua-cam.com/video/a_TgKPLmrJY/v-deo.html.

VCRs are videos shown in between sets at concerts. They aren't slideshows or collages. A VCR usually tells a story that introduces the theme of the next set of songs. For example, the VCR that played before Baekhyun's solo performance was introducing the fact that this set would be a powerful set that showcased Baekhyun's skills as an all-around dancer and singer, etc. Most of the time you will see VCRs that are more like a mini TV show or Movie clip that tells a story and the group members are playing characters in the story. VCR's usually give the group members or artist about 5 minutes to go backstage and change their clothes and get ready for the next set of songs. They are designed to entertain the audience while no one is on stage.

In Lay's "Veil" MV, the silver tiles we see are silver Mahjong tiles, which, as you may know, is a game that is made up of tiles a little like dominos. Lay's just happen to be extra fancy silver to show his status, etc. On one tile we see the Chinese character for East, which is his previous album that Lay's song "Flying Apsaras" is on, and another was the Chinese character for West, which is this album title.
The instrument you hear -- which we also see being played at the beginning of the MV -- is an Erhu, which is a traditional Chinese instrument that is a little like a cross between a violin and a cello.
On one of Lay's first solo albums Sheep, he has a song called "Mask" and it's all about striving to keep on the right path and to accomplish his goals even in the face of adversity, as he struggles to be accepted and understood. It's about not letting others influence your choices when you know the direction you are headed is right and to believe in yourself, etc. So, an alternate message in "Veil" could be that he is now taking the mask off and he no longer has to hide who he really is because he has accomplished some of his goals and he is learning what path he needs to take in order to find the success that he is looking for, etc. Or, he is telling others that they should be brave enough to take the mask off, etc. Check out this clip of Lay on the survival reality competition show Idol Producer, where he explains to a group of trainees the meaning behind "Mask," ua-cam.com/video/6OOiszMmrN0/v-deo.html.
Lay has also posted two dance practice videos for "Veil". You are in for a treat when you check them out. The MV was the English version of the song, however, in his first "dance practice"/performance video you can hear the Chinese version of the song.
Lay's style of music is M-pop, which he says stands for Mixed-pop, meaning he combines traditional Chinese sounds and instruments, like you hear in this song, with modern hip-hop and pop beats and styles to create an amalgamation of both Western and Eastern culture in order to reach a wider audience. And he showcases traditional forms of dance by combining them with modern dances in order to bring Chinese/Asian/Eastern culture to the world in a new way.
As with everything Lay does, this whole song, MV and choreography was created by him. Once again, he wrote and composed and produced this song and the whole album himself, including the English lyrics. He even created the beats himself. And he also helped choreograph and direct the MV, etc. As you are discovering, when it comes to Lay's solo work, he pretty much does it all himself. He has a hand in all aspects of his solo projects.

They talked about Amigo pretty recently and joked that it was them "momentarily going down the wrong path," title-track wise. 😂 They clearly think it's a ridiculous song lmao.
SHINee's got a bunch of Broadway-like performances! I think their looks towards musical theater are some of their best stages. If you've got some free time, also check out SHINee's live performances of Girls Girls Girls, Dream Girl, Queen of New York, and Why So Serious (Dance Break).

Here for the Monsta X reaction but, truly, what a random song to recommend when they have so many better ones, especially for an introduction. Anyway, check them out if you can, they’re pretty awesome, aggressive but elegant at the same time, they’re the James Bond of K-pop IMO.

Personally..as a fan who has seen Monsta X in concert and have many of their albums…Wanted is one of my favorite songs by them.
