@@Svz-uv8pq wrong wrong and wrong! girls generation is iconic, but NO ONE beats big bang. no one has done as much for the industry as big bang has. big bang gave idols creative freedom, first lightstick in kpop, first group to have a rapline, first group to dye their hair another color than blonde, first group to write their own lyrics, first group to release mini albums and so much more. this is all thanks to big bang. girls generation is good but nowhere near big bang. they're the real icons and the kings of kpop, the reason half of the industry debuted
2NE1 & BigBang Kings and queens 👑, I love 2ne1 because it was the opposite of what was generally seen in girl groups at the time, they have an overwhelming presence on stage to this day.Bring more 2ne1 plss I recommend (come back home, gotta be you, falling in love, I love you..)❤❤❤
ah i love shinee (like shiny) so much. i am so glad you liked that song. they are amazing vocalists and such a wonderful group. 😊 would love to see you finally take a dive into them and react to more of their music
I can help with either group if you need advice / recommendations or just any help! Both are my ult groups and have been for over a decade! (Makes me feel so old 😅)
They are called “shiny”! I encourage you to check them out outside of a 2nd gen context! They debuted young and they are still super active (and breaking their own sales records) As you can see, ALL Members can sing, hold their own on stage and also have their own solo career with different vibes. IMO, you should check out Taemin -guilty, onew - best drum, key - pleasure shop or hate that (feat. Taeyeon), Minho - call back, jonghyun - she is Youngest member Taemin is going on a world tour rn) my favorite shinee songs are replay (2008), don’t call me, dream girl, married to the music, juice. SHINee has never stuck with a specific style so all of these songs will be different, they have tackled almost everything. They are also masters of live performances! I would check out excuse me miss, stranger and Sherlock performances from their concert series shinee world v (white outfits) Also that is shinee member Minho as the boy in the girls generation music video.
SHINee is my second ult group along with EXO. They can all sing. Their live concert performances are amazing and their debut song Replay is iconic. I hope you will dive into them more and watch their live performances. They can hold notes like no one can.
Girls generation pretty much started the "cute" trend in Kpop 😂 Its just the concept for this particular song though. They have LOADS of other genres over their discography!
2NE1 is very different from the GGs that debuted their era. They began the Girl Crush and badass concept! When they debuted everyone was captivated by them! They have the most Songs that charted nr.1 too! And they’re back! They’re active as a group rn and just finished their Asia tour! I‘s recommend checking their live performances as they’re known as the gg with the most and best stage presence! Thank you for the reaction and yes! That was indeed Minzy, she‘s an insanely good dancer and rlly powerful on stage too! She has amazing vocals too!
if you want a good contrast with girls generation, watch Oh! and then Run Devil Run. One’s much more bubblegum pop similar to Gee, and the other is a bit more of a mature sound but the two music videos are connected!
Girls' Generation's "Gee" was released in 2009 -- 2 years after debut -- and it has a pretty simple story. How I interpreter it is the girls are mannequins in a clothing store that come to life after store hours when no one is watching. Kind of like if you have ever seen the 1980s movie called "Mannequin". They all have a crush on the handsome young store manager, who is played by Minho from SHINee. The girls are tired of being trapped in the store and one night they decide to escape. Minho comes back in the morning and discovers that the mannequins are missing, but I guess he isn't too concerned because he is employee of the month and he is on cloud nine because the girls all kissed his picture. As you can see, there is no deep story there, it's exactly what you see. :D On a side note: SHINee had only debuted a year before this MV was released, and they debuted a year after Girls' Generation. As label mates they often are featured in each others' MVs. For example, Jessica, a member of SNSD (The abbreviation of Girls' Generation in Korean), also was in SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV in 2013. And Minho is literally one of all the SNSD members' favorite boys. There are compilation videos that show all the girls just doting on him and Minho acting like a gentleman or a little brother to the members. "Gee" is one of SNSD's most famous songs and it is probably one of the most well-known Kpop girl group songs of all time. If you ask anyone around the world if they know any Kpop songs, at least one of the songs they will mention, and probably do the dance too, is "Gee." It is so well known that pretty much every group in the industry, both girl groups and boy groups, know this song and dance and probably have even done a cover performance at least once in their career. If you have ever seen boy groups doing girl group dances, then I am sure you have seen them dance to "Gee." It's pretty much the go to song. Although SNSD knows how to do cute, they are actually known for the fact that with most of their songs they are sexy and fierce. They are different than most other Kpop girl groups. They are all super gorgeous -- all known for their beautiful image -- and yet very girl next door-like and very relatable. They are legends in the industry for a reason. SNSD have been given the title as "The Nation's Girl Group" by the Korean government since debut and considered queens for a reason. :D Their debut song "Into The New World" has been dubbed a Kpop national anthem. They are the girl group, that most other girl groups who came after them are modeled after. Fun fact: SNSD is Super Junior's sister group, so both groups have similar group dynamics and styles. The members are: Taeyeon (the leader and main vocalist, who is considered one of the best female vocalists in the industry), Jessica, Yoona, Sooyoung, Yuri, Seohyun, Tiffany, Sunny, and Hyoyeon. (As you might be able to guess by their names, Jessica and Tiffany are Korean-American.) They are still an active group, however, Jessica Jung left the group in 2014. So they are now an 8 member group. Then, in 2017, 3 of the members left SM Entertainment -- Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Sohyun. And Sunny left SM in 2023 when Lee SooMan retired -- Sunny is Lee SooMan's niece. All the members are now working on their solo career, but they still are members of Girls' Generation. SNSD's last comeback was in 2022 for their 15th anniversary and we saw all 8 members come back together with their song "Forever 1" and a whole bunch of comeback activities. Fun fact: Former SNSD member Jessica Jung is Krystal Jung's older sister. Krystal is a member of SM's former girl group F(x), who is SHINee's sister group. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee. Jessica and Krystal were one of the first -- and for a long time, only -- siblings to both be under the same Kpop company and in separate equally popular groups.
As you can see by the comments, BigBang is a group the warrants a closer look and more time spent on checking out their extensive discography. They are an OG group -- who debuted in 2006 -- that all other Kpop groups look up to and they are one of the groups that EVERYONE respects. They are one of the founders that made Kpop an international success. BigBang are the leaders of K-hip-hop and one of the most successful Kpop groups of their time. They are the group that made YG Entertainment one of the big three entertainment companies alongside SM and JYP. BigBang literally made YG what it is today. "Bang Bang Bang" was released in 2015. > The guy without the shirt standing on the van is Taeyang, vocalist and main dancer. > The cowboy and the astronaut are the same guy who's name is *T.O.P., main rapper. > The guy in the sand is *Seungri, maknae and lead vocalist. > The guy with the red hair is the leader and King of all Kings named G-Dragon, who is the songwriter and a main rapper, etc. (Pretty much the guy all Kpop rappers and everyone in the industry looks up to.) > The guy with his hair covering his eyes is Daesung, main vocal. *Seungri left the entertainment industry in 2019 and T.O.P. left the group to focus on his solo music career in 2023. The female dancer GD is tethered to on the leash in "Bang Bang Bang" is Parris Goebel, who is from New Zealand, and she is the choreographer for this song, and pretty much the majority of BigBang's songs. She is known as "BigBang's choreographer". If you think their MVs are hype, just wait until you see them perform their songs live, they are just as mind blowing, if not more, live than they are in their MVs, and they have just as many or more people on stage with them in their live performances as they do in the MVs. BigBang fans are called VIPs. BigBang are considered The Kings of Kpop, hence why their official symbol is a crown.
Haha, SHINee's all about the vocals and ad libs! If you want to check them out on easy mode, I've got a playlist called SHINee Recommendations that has their popular performances. :) They've honestly covered every genre, right down to basically Broadway theater. They're still active in their 17th year, by the way! (They debuted REALLY young in 2008.) They also all have successful solo careers, and Onew (the leader) has an EP coming out January 6.
You should check something different by each of these groups the next marathon... my recommendations: BIGBANG- Loser SHINEE- Atlantis or Tell me what to do SNSD- You think 2NE1- Goodbye 📌plus: you talked about emo hair and stuff, so I definitely recommend you react to a TXT duology (lovesong and loser = lover), because they brought back exactly the vibe of that emo era in the 2000s and it was amazing!
Yes Minzy, the one with short hair is the maknae. 2NE1 and BigBang is from the same company that is why they might have same theme in terms of their music and mv
Shinee do indeed have insane vocals. They've been in the game for 16 years and they're still killing it. Very much still relevant today. For a more recent song of theirs, I think you'd like "Atlantis". If you want a wintery, seasonal song, check out "Winter Wonderland" from 8 years ago.
2NE1 (pronounced like "to any one" or 21 if you say it fast) they are BigBang's sister group that debuted in 2009, so they have a similar style and vibe as BigBang. They are one of the top hip-hop based girl groups in the Kpop industry who are highly respected by everyone. "I Am the Best," which was released in 2011, is one of their most well-known songs and it can be heard everywhere. It's been used all over the world in ad campaigns and sporting events, etc. It's the ultimate empowerment song. The members of 2NE1 are: > CL, who is the leader, the main rapper and often the song writer. She speaks English and French fluently and has had some pretty big success as a solo artist with collaborations with western artists and song releases in the U.S. > Bom, who is the main vocalist > Dara (Sanda Park), who is a vocalist, sub-rapper and the visual of the group. > Minzy, who is the maknae, main dancer, lead vocalist and lead rapper. Fun fact: Dara's younger brother, who goes by the stage name Thunder, was a former member of the Kpop Boy group MBLAQ (pronounced like M-Black) from 2009-2015. Both 2NE1 and MBLAQ debuted the same year. 2NE1's fans are called BlackJacks because in the card game blackjack the goal is to get 21 points.
Boy, I'm telling you. I'm a harcore Shawol (SHINee fandom name) since 2013. There's no one like them. Really. Visuals, concepts, trends, talent, dance, vocals. They have it AAAAAALL. Hope you react to some more of their vocal tracks. They're crazy talented in the vocal department.
It's interesting that you chose two groups from YG (Bigbang and 2NE1) and two groups from SM (SHINee and SNSD). These songs are a good example why YG is considered the strongest in rap and SM in vocals. Of course all of these group have a pretty good range. For instance if you clicked on the recommended video in the Bang Bang Bang MV, you would see a very different face of Bigbang in Still Life, their most recent song. For SNSD, their debut song Into the New World is less cutesy. This legendary song is back on the charts nowadays because it was often sung during the rallies demanding the impeachment of the president. SHINee has an insane range, plus all of the members are really accomplished soloists with their own distinctive style. They are really close with SNSD members, because they trained together. The guy in the Gee MV is Minho from SHINee. And Taeyeon was featured in the solo songs of three of the members. One of these songs - Hate That by Key - has an MV.
I'm a big fan of BIGBANG and 2NE1 back then! When both groups disbanded, I left my fangirl era at the time. When I discovered SB19, here I am again! LOL I love your reaction! Please do more BIGBANG and 2NE1. I recommend Loser and Come back home. 🔥
Shine (you pronounced it correctly) is a legendary band and still active today. They have a very large discography that touches all genres. Many 3-4 and 5 generation bands have been inspired by their discography. I hope you will make more reaction to their songs..I recommend replay, selene 6.23,View,shelock,Symptoms...and above all to watch them live
i also love 2ne1. they're such an awesome group! yes minzy has the short hair.. i am also a big bang fan though surprised that was the video you started with 🤣
You got your taste of YG Entertainment and SM Entertainment. Both BigBang and 2NE1 are YG groups and both SHINee and Girls’ Generation are SM groups. Super Junior got me into Kpop, Girls’ Generation made me fall in love with Kpop and SHINee are the reason I’ll never leave. If you’re a vocal guy then SM groups are where you wanna be. I’m no SM d*ck rider, they’re as awful as any other big company but I do have to say that they know how to find and train those vocalists!!!! SHINee is my absolute ULT boy group of all time. They are known as the “Princes of Kpop” They are frequently called CDNee because their live vocals sound exactly like their studio versions (but in my opinion their live vocals far surpass their studio versions). They always sing live and the live arrangements often elevate their songs too. They were SM’s first really experimental group. They dabbled in a several genres but their roots are R&B/Hip-hop based. Their debut R&B track called “Replay” is often regarded as one of the best debuts ever (alongside SNSD’s “Into The New World”) SHINee are the reason dance practices even became a thing in Kpop. The dance for “Lucifer” (the song you checked out in this video) was so unique and detailed at the time that people wanted to see the dance so badly, they released a dance practice for it and it was so popular that that’s how we ended up with dance practices today. They’re known for having pretty high energy but very detailed choreography. The tall, black haired rapper (with a bit of a bowl cut) from the SHINee Lucifer music video, is the same guy in the Girls’ Generation Gee music video by the way! SM used to do that more back then. Some of the EXO guys have appeared in the SNSD- TTS (a subunit of Girls’ Generation) “Twinkle” music video and Jessica (the member that left SNSD) is in the SHINee “Sherlock” music video. It was always fun for the fans to see the groups interacting like that. I would love if you reacted to more SHINee! They’re going on 17 years in the game and they’re not slowing down. Their 8th studio album called “Hard” was only released in 2023 (after Taemin the maknae came back from his military service) and it set a new personal best in first week sales for them. They continue to outdo themselves even this far in their careers. Jonghyun (their main vocalist who passed away) is regarded as one of the best vocalists Kpop has ever seen and Taemin (the maknae) is considered one of the best dancers Kpop has ever seen. Every member of the group has at least a Master’s degree either in music or film. Jonghyun often wrote and helped produce their songs which made them unique because he truly knew how to use his brother’s vocal talents in the best ways. Minho also often writes his own raps and has racked up quite a lot of writing credits over the years as well. After Jonghyun passed, his family set up the SHINY foundation that aims to help struggling idols/artists (particularly with their mental health). Some great SHINee tracks to look at are: - Replay (2008, their debut song, R&B based) - Ring Ding Dong (2009, their most controversial song but it definitely grows on you, was socially banned in South Korea during high school exams because it’s so catchy and addictive) - Juliette (2009, they started the trend of colorful skinny jeans in Kpop at the time) - Sherlock (2012, mashup of two songs, at the time this was the most expensive choreo that SM ever paid for, it was choreographed by Tony Testa who is most known for choreographing for Michael Jackson) - Dream Girl (2013) - Everybody (2013, EDM, Shinee was one of the biggest-selling K-pop acts in America in 2013 becoming one of the first Korean musicians to rank on Billboard’s year-end World Albums chart) - View (2015, this really got the house era in Kpop going) Their live performances are a whole other thing. Excuse Me Miss, Dynamite, Picasso, Evil, Spoiler, Like A Fire, Sherlock, Stranger, Odd Eye and Symptoms need to be experienced through live performances. Mostly from their concerts which are called “SHINee World.” SHINee World is the name of their fandom which is typically shortened to “Shawols” They’ve been around for a while so there’s a lot to dive into. I could list their entire discography but I’ll stop here 😆 Thanks to anyone who read all this!!
SHINee is my ult group. They are amazing. They are amazing performers & vocalists. ❤ They do a lot of experimental songs. So they have a lot of different genres in their discography. They have a lot of R&B’s as well. Hope you check more of their music. ❤
BigBang are your favorite kpop group's favorite kpop group Kpop's first musical explorers with a nack for innovation and the first self produced group. Their creativity is the backbone of modern kpop and their live performances are legendary. Just don't ask them to do choreography. Favorite songs: If You, Haru Haru(Japanese live version), Last Dance, Bad boy, Sober, Feeling, Too many other. SHINee is the princess of kpop. They are amazing singers and songwriters. The perfect kpop group and managed to stay together without losing members other than the tragedy. That's rare in Kpop. Favorite songs: Replay, Orgel, Our paige Girls Generation dominated the industry with their cute style but when they made the switch to SNSD when they came back from disbandment they were confident grown women and I wasn't a fan of the cutesy stuff but the second half of their career was amazing. Favorite songs: Oh!GG, All night All girl groups used to be frilly and girly in Kpop until 4 girls named 2NE1 kicked the door down with swagger and attitude. Favorite songs: Come back home, missing you, Fire.
Both SHINee and SNSD are from SM, the company stereotypically known for excellence in vocals, the same company as TVXQ, EXO, Red Velvet and aespa who you've already checked out! In terms of representative songs or vibes, they are both known for having different concepts pretty much every comeback! If you wanted to do a marathon for each of them considering a balance of views, impact, your taste and some variety of sounds I'd recommend: SHINee - Replay (their debut), Sherlock (Clue + Note), Married To The Music and Atlantis SNSD - Genie, The Boys, I Got A Boy and Lion Heart Loved seeing your reaction to these 2nd gen groups, this was kpop as I first discovered it!
In SHINee's "Lucifer" MV the "smoke" or "light trail" we see is supposed to represent the aura of a girl who has devilish powers like Lucifer, who is trying to possess them and take over their lives. As the English lines in the song say, "Loveaholic, robotronic ... her whisper is the Lucifer." (They are using auto tune because they are supposed to be "robotronic"-ly controlled by the girl who is "The Lucifer." So the auto tune is meant to make them sound robotic.) In other words, the woman or girl they are talking about is so desirable that she is like Lucifer and you have to use all your willpower just to resist her wiles. Onew (pronounced Oh-New in English or On-New with a Korean accent) is the leader and he is the one with the vest with the fur on the back, Jonghyun is the one with the backless vest with the crazy high note, Key has the side of his head shaved, Minho is the tallest one who is the rapper with the short hair and Taemin is the one with the red pants and the long hair. In the MV we see them trying to fight against Lucifer's powers and resist her attempts to try to make them bend to her will, etc. That's why in the choreography there are those robotic moves because they are showing how "Lucifer" is trying to control them like a robot. For example, they put their wrists together like they are being handcuffed to show how she is trapping them, and they vibrate to show how they are being manipulated by "Lucifer" and they are trying to resist her powers, etc. FYI: That vibration we see them do is 100% them actually shaking like that, there aren't any camera tricks. If you pay attention when they perform "Lucifer" live, you will see them do that exact same thing. :D When they explain to people how to do that move they say you have to "tense all your muscles and then pretend like you are being startled." Just wait until you see some of Taemin's solo performances and discover how much of an expert he is at popping and ticking. He is considered one of the best poppers in the industry, and he can literally isolate every joint and muscle individually and make any part of his body vibrate at warpspeed. LOL we have no idea why they had to be dancing in front of a sports car, but that was kind of an iconic thing that Kpop companies did back then in a lot of their MVs. The group would dance around a fancy car to show off their coolness and to give the video a more futuristic, expensive looking aesthetic. "Lucifer" was released in 2010 -- more than 14 years ago -- so this was just the look that a lot of MVs had back then, in part because everyone was following SHINee's lead. Just take a look at TVXQ's, Super Junior's, Infinite's or 2PM's MVs, etc. from around that time and you will see a similar look and style. SHINee was setting trends in the industry with "Lucifer." I'm not sure why people are often so thrown by their hairstyles and outfits in this MV. :D I think they are actually all pretty cool for doing something different that sets them apart from everyone else in the industry. That is what makes SHINee legends and why "Lucifer" is such an iconic song and dance. You're not going to remember a group or a song if they look and sound the same as everyone else, you remember them for standing out and not being afraid to be unique. SHINee are also known for never being afraid to experiment with everything they do, including their style, and as the fashionista and stylist of the group, Key is always looking for ways to be unique, so his head was really shaved on the one side. What we see is his hair was bleached blond on the side and then shaved down to his scalp. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. That's why Key's style is often just straddling the edge of outrageous, but somehow always manages to look cool. Fun fact: I think one reason why Minho's hair is so short at this time is because their previous comeback was with their song "Ring Ding Dong," and all the members had pretty long, shaggy hairstyles in that MV. However, Minho has never liked having long hair. So, I think for "Lucifer" he decided to rebel and go really short. This was also the era where Taemin had long hair and it made him one of the most popular of the members at the time, especially with their Japanese fans. The Japanese culture really embraces men with long hair and the members said that he was one of the most popular because of his style. Taemin with long hair is so iconic and many in the fandom were really sad when he eventually cut his hair. So, in this MV, Taemin had just turned 17. Onew and Jonghyun are 20 and Key and Minho are 18. (SHINee debuted in 2008) If you want to see where SHINee truly shines, if you haven't yet, you have to check out a performance of "Lucifer" Live in concert at their SHINee World Concert III (SWC3) in Seoul from 2014, ua-cam.com/video/Fm5n8Q2XO34/v-deo.html, and/or their "Ring Ding Dong" and "Lucifer" set at their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in Seoul in 2016, ua-cam.com/video/mtFK7FxKdLs/v-deo.html. This is a perfect example of how you can tell they are singing live and killing it every time. SHINee doesn't need auto tune, and if you hear them perform the song live, they often don't use it. "Lucifer" is actually known as one of the most difficult songs and dances to cover because of its tutting and popping and for the fact that it has a very fast paced beat with dance moves that are very sharp and precise, which are designed to hit every beat of the song. (They actually refer to that tutting formation as a bug or worm. Their arms are supposed to look like the legs of a creature.) And the song itself is very complicated with the songs wide range of notes and flow. Many amateurs have thought "Lucifer" looks like one of SHINee's more simple songs and dances. But the minute they try to sing the song and/or dance the choreography, they soon discover that it is way more complicated than they thought. It only looks and sounds simple, because SHINee makes it look that way. Check out this clip of SHINee teaching a group of actors and comedians "Lucifer" as part of a challenge on the variety show "Invincible Baseball Team," ua-cam.com/video/-TLCK7KbLus/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/0V02cQwYLMQ/v-deo.html. It's funny because when they came to meet SHINee to start the practice, Jonghyun asked them why they chose this song of all songs, and they said because it looks manly and they thought it was fairly easy to cover. But the first thing Jonghyun said to them, while laughing, was "oh no, actually it's one of our most difficult and it took us extra time to really perfect it." :D
You definitely should check out the dance practice. SHINee's "Lucifer" dance practice was the very first dance practice video ever in the Kpop industry, released specifically for fans. SHINee is the group that started the trend and their "Lucifer" dance practice video is why dance practice videos are even a thing today. :D It was the very first dance practice video to go viral. Back then, dance practice videos were filmed for the group and artists to watch to help them remember the moves and to fix mistakes, etc. They weren't intended for a mass audience. But SM realized that fans were starting to try and copy SHINee's choreography, so they decided to film a dance practice and release it to the public. SHINee's dance practice videos became so popular that other companies and groups started to do the same and show off their choreography by releasing dance practices too. But like everything SHINee does, they were the first.
SHINee!! Thanks for reacting, would love to see more! 2nd gen kpop was so iconic, and filled with such giant groups. I really recommend for you to check out some live performances from SHINee, they are famous for their incredible live vocals whilst doing intense choreos. Ring Ding Dong+Lucifer and Replay from SWC5, Sherlock and Excuse Me Miss from SWC4 are some of the most iconic 💎 The members from SHINee also all have really successful solo careers. You might have heard of Taemin's music (if not, sooo worth checking out! IDEA, Advice, Guilty, Criminal), and Jonghyun's music is my personal favourite (also very worth checking out! Orbit, End of a Day, Crazy, Aurora).
Weirdly you ended up with 2 groups orginally from SM Entertainment (SHINee and GG - same company as EXO, Red Velvet and Aespa) and 2 groups from YG Entertainment (Big band and 2NE1- same company as BlackPink, Treasure, Baby monster)
7:33, idk much but I have heard fans say that the guy (Daesung) used to hide his face with hair because others called him ugly. Sad There was a time I was obsessed with Lucifer. You should definitely check out more Shinee. Them and EXO are 🔥 The guy in "gee" mv is actually from shinee, the rapper in Lucifer haha. I know GEE is their popular song but I don't like it much 😂. But their songs are good. You should check out " THE BOYS" and "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN"
Yes you are right! This is Taeyeon at 28:40 and up to the spot you mention her. You spotted her (or maybe recognized her voice lol). Shorty with the bangs 😄 Fun fact about 'Gee': In 2023 it was picked as the greatest Kpop song of all-time in Rolling Stone's Top 100 list! Not everyone loves bubblegum but it is the most legendary bubblegum song ever. But another cool thing about Girls Generation is they have many sides and many genres. Even though they're really good at being cute, some of the members didn't originally like doing this song back then 😂
If you want to go back a bit further to find an absolute classic that everyone in KPop will know today but that doesn’t sound like anything anymore check out the MV for TVXQ’s Mirotic.
you should check out wonder girls too, they were unstoppable until their focus on US music market. They never really recovered after the failed US attempt, they have a lot of great songs and huge hits in the late 2000's. the girls were also close with bigbang and girls generation. i recommend Tell me, So Hot, Be my baby, Nobody, why so lonely, and my personal favourite 2 different tears
All of them are queens and kings of kpop, owners of a whole generation, idols of the actual idols. I'm so happy and proud that I grew up listening and supporting to absolutely all of them as soloist, actors and group. If you let me suggest more 2nd gen groups, here is a list 🤗 2AM 2PM 4Minute After School Beast Brown Eyed Girls CNBlue EXID FTISLAND F(x) Girl's Day Girls' Generation TTS (GG Sub Unit) KARA MBLAQ Miss A Rania Sistar Sistar19 (Sistar Sub Unit) SS501 Super Junior (and Sub units) Rain (soloist) T-ARA Troublemaker TVXQ U-Kiss Wonder Girls
Girls Generation: The song you picked is a favorite and I hate the music video. "The Boys," "I Got a Boy," "Paparazzi," and "Catch Me if You Can" are I think more representative. 2NE1 brought a whole new style to KPOP. These two groups started world tours and opened USA to KPOP. Both groups have great vocals and stage presence. Also, neither are only one style and you need to watch multiple performances to understand their full talents.
Fun fact: SHINee and SNSD are both from SM Entertainment. The guy from Gee's MV is Minho from SHINee. BigBang and 2NE1 are both from YG Entertainment.
girls generation YES we need more videos of them these ladies are definitely the biggest act of the second generation in kpop
!!!!
don't get me wrong i love girls generation but it's DEFINITELY big bang

2NE1 & BigBang Kings and queens 👑, I love 2ne1 because it was the opposite of what was generally seen in girl groups at the time, they have an overwhelming presence on stage to this day.Bring more 2ne1 plss I recommend (come back home, gotta be you, falling in love, I love you..)❤❤❤
ah i love shinee (like shiny) so much. i am so glad you liked that song. they are amazing vocalists and such a wonderful group. 😊 would love to see you finally take a dive into them and react to more of their music
Gee was my introduction to K-pop .
Yes!! Girls Generation The GOAT K-pop girl group, More Girls' Generation 🙏🙏
Yes... Girls' Generation finally, please react to more of them. Thanks!
FINALLY shinee
Yes SNSD! Please do Mr Mr by them, such a good song with outstanding vocals.
Please more SHINee and Girls Generation! 🙌🙌🤞🙏🙏🙏
I would check out excuse me miss, stranger and Sherlock performances from their concert series shinee world v (white outfits)
Also that is shinee member Minho as the boy in the girls generation music video.
Onew's solo song is called "Beat Drum" not best drum.
@ whoops my bad, thanks for catching! rushed typing on my phone keyboard!
@@brittaneyb3425 No worries, I thought it was probably something like that.
MORE SHINEE PLEASE!!!!
if you want a good contrast with girls generation, watch Oh! and then Run Devil Run. One’s much more bubblegum pop similar to Gee, and the other is a bit more of a mature sound but the two music videos are connected!
I second Run Devil Run. Love that one. Definitely opposite of bubblegum pop.
On a side note: SHINee had only debuted a year before this MV was released, and they debuted a year after Girls' Generation.
(As you might be able to guess by their names, Jessica and Tiffany are Korean-American.)
They are still an active group, however, Jessica Jung left the group in 2014.
(Pretty much the guy all Kpop rappers and everyone in the industry looks up to.)
> The guy with his hair covering his eyes is Daesung, main vocal.
More Girls Generation reaction please
Haha, SHINee's all about the vocals and ad libs! If you want to check them out on easy mode, I've got a playlist called SHINee Recommendations that has their popular performances. :) They've honestly covered every genre, right down to basically Broadway theater.
They're still active in their 17th year, by the way! (They debuted REALLY young in 2008.) They also all have successful solo careers, and Onew (the leader) has an EP coming out January 6.
Girls generation marothon please❤
VIP here!! BigBang the Made album had me in a chokehold 😢 so nostalgic. Daesung and his beautiful vocals
Girls generation has plenty of different concepts and sounds. If you didn't like gee then try i got a boy or mr. mr.
You should check something different by each of these groups the next marathon... my recommendations:
BIGBANG- Loser
SHINEE- Atlantis or Tell me what to do
SNSD- You think
2NE1- Goodbye
📌plus: you talked about emo hair and stuff, so I definitely recommend you react to a TXT duology (lovesong and loser = lover), because they brought back exactly the vibe of that emo era in the 2000s and it was amazing!
The members of 2NE1 are:
> CL, who is the leader, the main rapper and often the song writer. She speaks English and French fluently and has had some pretty big success as a solo artist with collaborations with western artists and song releases in the U.S.
> Bom, who is the main vocalist
> Dara (Sanda Park), who is a vocalist, sub-rapper and the visual of the group.
I'm here for SHINee (Pronounced like Shiny). If you want VOCALS they are DEFINITELY the group for you.
SHINee🎉
you can see the style of YG Entertainment in BIGBANG and 2NE1, simply superior
Shine (you pronounced it correctly) is a legendary band and still active today. They have a very large discography that touches all genres. Many 3-4 and 5 generation bands have been inspired by their discography. I hope you will make more reaction to their songs..I recommend replay, selene 6.23,View,shelock,Symptoms...and above all to watch them live
i also love 2ne1. they're such an awesome group! yes minzy has the short hair.. i am also a big bang fan though surprised that was the video you started with 🤣
KING OF KPOP ❤️🔥 👑 🛐
Bigbang is a legend debuted 2006 the kings of kpop
Their debut R&B track called “Replay” is often regarded as one of the best debuts ever (alongside SNSD’s “Into The New World”)
SHINee are the reason dance practices even became a thing in Kpop.
Some great SHINee tracks to look at are:
- Replay (2008, their debut song, R&B based)
- Ring Ding Dong (2009, their most controversial song but it definitely grows on you, was socially banned in South Korea during high school exams because it’s so catchy and addictive)
- Juliette (2009, they started the trend of colorful skinny jeans in Kpop at the time)
- Sherlock (2012, mashup of two songs, at the time this was the most expensive choreo that SM ever paid for, it was choreographed by Tony Testa who is most known for choreographing for Michael Jackson)
- Dream Girl (2013)
- Everybody (2013, EDM, Shinee was one of the biggest-selling K-pop acts in America in 2013 becoming one of the first Korean musicians to rank on Billboard’s year-end World Albums chart)
- View (2015, this really got the house era in Kpop going)
Their live performances are a whole other thing.
I definitely recommend Shinee! I love them so much. They are my second ult group 🙂↕️🫰I love your reactions as always!
24:48 THAT’S TAEYEON 😍❤
Thank you for the reaction. I'd love to see more SHINee and Girls Generation
Favorite songs: Replay, Orgel, Our paige
Girls Generation dominated the industry with their cute style but when they made the switch to SNSD when they came back from disbandment they were confident grown women and I wasn't a fan of the cutesy stuff but the second half of their career was amazing.
Favorite songs: Oh!GG, All night
All girl groups used to be frilly and girly in Kpop until 4 girls named 2NE1 kicked the door down with swagger and attitude.
Favorite songs: Come back home, missing you, Fire.
shinee!!!💕😊
MORE GIRLS GENERATION AND RED VELVET PLEASE
Both SHINee and SNSD are from SM, the company stereotypically known for excellence in vocals, the same company as TVXQ, EXO, Red Velvet and aespa who you've already checked out! In terms of representative songs or vibes, they are both known for having different concepts pretty much every comeback! If you wanted to do a marathon for each of them considering a balance of views, impact, your taste and some variety of sounds I'd recommend:
SHINee - Replay (their debut), Sherlock (Clue + Note), Married To The Music and Atlantis
SNSD - Genie, The Boys, I Got A Boy and Lion Heart
Loved seeing your reaction to these 2nd gen groups, this was kpop as I first discovered it!
SHINee was setting trends in the industry with "Lucifer."
I'm not sure why people are often so thrown by their hairstyles and outfits in this MV.
(SHINee debuted in 2008)
If you want to see where SHINee truly shines, if you haven't yet, you have to check out a performance of "Lucifer" Live in concert at their SHINee World Concert III (SWC3) in Seoul from 2014, ua-cam.com/video/Fm5n8Q2XO34/v-deo.html, and/or their "Ring Ding Dong" and "Lucifer" set at their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in Seoul in 2016, ua-cam.com/video/mtFK7FxKdLs/v-deo.html.
Ring Ding Dong+Lucifer and Replay from SWC5, Sherlock and Excuse Me Miss from SWC4 are some of the most iconic 💎
The members from SHINee also all have really successful solo careers. You might have heard of Taemin's music (if not, sooo worth checking out! IDEA, Advice, Guilty, Criminal), and Jonghyun's music is my personal favourite (also very worth checking out! Orbit, End of a Day, Crazy, Aurora).
MORE SHINee AAAAAAAAAAA ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Weirdly you ended up with 2 groups orginally from SM Entertainment (SHINee and GG - same company as EXO, Red Velvet and Aespa) and 2 groups from YG Entertainment (Big band and 2NE1- same company as BlackPink, Treasure, Baby monster)
7:33, idk much but I have heard fans say that the guy (Daesung) used to hide his face with hair because others called him ugly. Sad
There was a time I was obsessed with Lucifer. You should definitely check out more Shinee. Them and EXO are 🔥
The guy in "gee" mv is actually from shinee, the rapper in Lucifer haha.
Shorty with the bangs 😄
Fun fact about 'Gee': In 2023 it was picked as the greatest Kpop song of all-time in Rolling Stone's Top 100 list! Not everyone loves bubblegum but it is the most legendary bubblegum song ever. But another cool thing about Girls Generation is they have many sides and many genres. Even though they're really good at being cute, some of the members didn't originally like doing this song back then 😂
Thanks for your reaction. More 2NE1 please: "Come Back Home," "I Love You, "Fire." All bangers.
SNSD ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
If you want to go back a bit further to find an absolute classic that everyone in KPop will know today but that doesn’t sound like anything anymore check out the MV for TVXQ’s Mirotic.
Literalmente 4 grupos lendários que bavimentaram essa indústria para a nova geração popularizar
you should check out wonder girls too, they were unstoppable until their focus on US music market.
If you let me suggest more 2nd gen groups, here is a list 🤗

You should add Wonder Girls to the list.
The hair in 2nd gen was WILD....
Minzy bias. Minzy's MV peak is on 2ne1's Can't Nobody. if you know, u know
Bigbang kings of k-pop
I can feel you bigbang was a shock for me at first lol 😭😭
Girls Generation: The song you picked is a favorite and I hate the music video. "The Boys," "I Got a Boy," "Paparazzi," and "Catch Me if You Can" are I think more representative. 2NE1 brought a whole new style to KPOP. These two groups started world tours and opened USA to KPOP. Both groups have great vocals and stage presence. Also, neither are only one style and you need to watch multiple performances to understand their full talents.
SUPER JUNIOR - MR SIMPLE
2PM - HANDS UP
BEAST - FICTION
SISTAR - ALONE
KARA - PANDORA
T-ARA - SEXY LOVE
Yes bigbang
“The dark side of KPop”. Hahahah. More like the exciting side of KPop. 2nd gen ruled.
Bigbang and 2ne1 same agency
Please react more SHINee 😁😁 thanks
YG girlgroups don't do cute style. BIGBANG, 2NE1, BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, WINNER, AKMU, IKON & TREASURE are from YG.
Please do reaction to another group 2nd gen like Super Junior, SISTAR, MISS A etc
You should watch the Dreamcatcher cover of Bang Bang Bang
