Well Kris i would say that was probly the absolute best thing you could have done getting that hotel room for the night. Hopefully a good nights rest will give you some relief. Dwayne
Honestly I needed that hotel that night. That was a slog of a day and the hike around Haweswater is much longer than you think. Really does help reset with a nice bed and shower and charge your gear so was definitely the right decision.
We avoided the decent from Kidsty by turning left just before KP and going over High Raise (slightly higher than KP) - a gentler walk under the feet as still on grass and not the path, with a shorter steep decent to the lake, and comes out further down Haweswater so less of that path!! Also, I agree with you totally about the dangers of watching YT vids as there is no indication of how long the distance is between scenes!!! LOL
Sounds like the way to do it. I watched a UA-cam video talking about coming off there sooner once I got back. I’ve actually plotted that sub section on my Garmin so when I get around to doing the walk I’ll definitely take that part. Got to be better than what we did haha. Yeah I’m glad you agree. That’s why my videos are a bit more chatty and trying to show the different aspects as I think a lot gets missed out and people just show the nice parts and looks really quick. When in reality there are some right treks in between the stand out features.
@@krisgleave I think the best example of YT mis-information is the path to the Lion at Blakey Ridge - YT videos show the gates at the Crossing as you come off the Cleveland Way and onto the old rail track and then show the pub appearing on the ridge - what they fail to show is the number of small sub-valleys you have to walk round in order to reach the final one - I kept saying to the person I was walking with - "It should be round the next corner!", then 30 mins later, "It should be round the next corner!", and then.......
Hahaha the guy I was with was telling me the same thing! Oh I feel your pain. I had no idea about the ups and down too. To be honest as tough as that was I enjoyed all that. But what I didn’t enjoy is the long route to the pub after them. No idea it was like that and it was awful. Maybe it was good I didn’t know 😂
a bit grim today, Kris I had a great camp at angle tarn and the path along Haweswater is alot tougher than you expect enjoying seeing your take on this as i was literally on your shirt tails 😁
ahh yeah. Iain took the path on the other side of Haweswater and spoke to someone else who has too and that seems the better route for next time. Haha yeah just a day behind but you catch up after starting later than us too
Enjoying your vids kris , I'm in the market for a new goretex coat how does the montane fair with the lake land lashes of rain ? Any links welcome keep up the good work 👍
Cheers Richard really appreciate it. Ooh the jacket is amazing. This is the Montane Levity from Go Outdoors. It’s basically the same as the Pac Plus. Same jacket but different colour ware just for those stores. About £156 but I got mine with a code for about £130 I think. Pac plus is £225 ish. Literally the same.

I could see how hard that was! Ouch! Great video! Looking forward to tomorrows. 😃
Haha tough day with no energy for both of us.
@@krisgleave I bet. Poor Nicola with her calf too. Bet she was glad to get to work 😂
