Shoutouts to Griptonite for taking licensed games so seriously. Seriously, they made some gems. HP and the Chamber of Secrets for the GBC, the Urbz for DS and GBA, shinobi for the 3DS. Not many Shovelware devs have made games that stand on their own as being unique and completely transformative on the source material and have cult following. Who knew all the Urbz needed was a tight story and an open world RPG with Sims elements, and the Harry Potter needed JRPG elements? It's brilliant, really. Both worlds felt vibrant.
I think that this is a pretty big problem nowadays, that big companies won't try something like this anymore as developmenet costs are higher and the risk is too high for investors I guess. And low-cost games are most of the time mobile games, even griptonie was bought by glu mobile that make free to play trash, at least Ian makes his own Indie games now, so I will be able to hear similar sounds like in the Urbz.
@@kaschwarkatercus6693 Yeah... It's a shame really, everything EA shits out has to made of solid gold or its a failure and their shareholders get pissed. The GBA allowed games to made fairly fast and cheaply and since the engine was done from Bustin' Out, there was obviously so much time and love put into this game and it's systems. I still don't know what all the Xizzle beads did! Or how to get into the clubhouses! And that's pretty cool. It's far from perfect but look at how Stardew Valley got so popular... Games can be made small and cheap and still strike a massive chord with an audience. And that started out as a PC game and it sold really really well.
The sequel to Urbz was actually The Sims 2 on GBA. It was a kind of loose sequel, kind of like how Urbz was a sequel to The Sims: Bustin' Out. Some of the same characters, objects, and callbacks to the old games are in there, too. I didn't like The Sims 2 on GBA very much, though.
I remembering playing this in the car on the way to my cabin and boy scout camping trips back in summer '05. Man those were good times. I actually hit the part when Daddy Big Bucks throws you into the river exactly when we arrived at our trip destination. I was so pissed I had to wait like a week to continue the game!
This whole soundtrack makes me feel so nostalgic but especially 'Techno'. Man I had such a crush on Misty, I remember always going to the gym, just to talk to her lol
Urbania (Day) started to sound in my head a few days ago, so I decided to listen to the full soundtrack, because wow so many memories. And I can't believe I still remember most of the songs. I have to find the game and play it again, for sure.
Thank you for preserving this great collection of music. Always was one of my favorite games just for the catchy OST. King Tower Is all sorts of groovy. Urbania(Day) as well. And the track Techno.
Ah man, im so glad you uploaded that masterpiece's soundtrack. Brings so much good memories. I still remember each of them, each soundtrack gave a feeling for each place. I remember i bought that game back in 2006. I had to choose between that and another game, i was so glad i picked this one. This bring so much good feelings about my childhood. Thank you sir 😊😇
Just dropping by in the comments to stand with the rest of you guys in this heavy nostalgia. I remember playing this game with my sister. We both loved it. We'd take turns passing it around to each other on car rides and long trips to vacations and there was a certain bond in discussing different parts of different missions. I feel melancholy from time to time knowing that my childhood is over, but there's comfort in knowing that others have similar memories and similar feelings. This soundtrack is great even without the nostalgia goggles. But with them on, I take a trip right back to yesteryear.
Omg so many memories! I want to go back to my childhood, or even better have grown up in the 80s and 90s :'( Brilliant game with a brilliant atmosphere, hands down this and Sims Bustin Out EA's best games
I lost my data numerous times because I helped someone else on another save file and kept overwriting it on mine. I got to sim quarter three times and Glasstown twice. I was like, what, 11 back then?
Freaking love this game. I only have it on the DS, not GBA, but I think it's exactly the same :) It was my very first game on my very first own console (DS)
Every time I listen to the album Moon Safari by Ari, it reminds me of this game because the afternoon time in this music and the penthouse tower music sounds similar to that band. I love this game so much and it's been like 12 or so years since I've played it ;[ I think I had it when I was 10 I'm 22 now and still have the gba cartridge of urbz but no gba. I love this game so much sometimes I want to make youtube speedpaint artwork of it and share it online to introduce one of my favorite nostalgic games to tons of people.
I just found my GBASP with all my original game progress from many years ago, but I finished the game on emulator though when I didn't have it. Still nostalgic playing on real hardware.
this OST is so much longer than i thought itd be (because its a GBA game no more than 15mb in size) this game was an underated marvel i swear. love a lot of the tracks from the game as well (favorite is totes the Oldie, Bayou, and best of all the Fiddle battle music (which i dont think is here :( ) )
I posted a better sound-quality version on my other channel, if anyone's interested. My version also contains the DS-only tracks are not present on the GBA. ua-cam.com/video/WrBY_ZtyU80/v-deo.html

I noticed the previous version you uploaded wasn't at all faithful to the original hardware and had some sound bugs. Does this version fix that? Either way, thank you! This game had a great soundtrack!

I'm Japanese I love this American game!! I was soooo excited when I was young💓The soundtrack is very cool!!
I wish the game had sold better and there would be an urbz 2, but unless EA decide to bring back this amazing series there won't be :'(

I'm playing this on my computer at the moment. It's Sims with (a bit) story, we need a remake or a continuation!
This game is my childhood 💜 a remaster on the switch would be amazing
Just curious, which genre would this type of music fall under? (where can I hear more of this type of music?)
8-bit, maybe nintendocore
Not sure feels like some sort of funky hiphop to techno funky electro stuff like that
CHILDHOOD!!!
This whole soundtrack is fantastic
I love this game!!! The music is so iconic, I miss it so much, hoping for some kind of special release someday, love the graphics, it suits the theme

i loved the game, good old times
I loved the title theme as a little kid and I still love it today. :)
Which is the one that plays in the store with the blonde chick, the one that is based on "Build Mode 6" from the original game????
Song 10 Second Looks Thrift Emporium is a nice little homage to The Sims´ Build Theme 6.
Renember when Electronic Arts made good games
NOSTALGIC!
The moment you realize that 10 years from playing this, you move to a metropolitan that is eerily similar to the local of the GBA version of Urbz..

Oh, looks like the weird pitch bending is still there... It's most noticeable in Glasstown Day.
Tommohawked i'm not really hearing it, it sounds the same as the original hardware to me
Tommohawked That's actually part of the original audio.
+SheepyTina The DS version is different ! I see what you're talking about ! I prefer the DS version too.
Rackover95 Yeah, maybe I'm just used to the DS version, but I didn't think they'd be different.
