Probably because enthusiasts are incredibly picky and represent a fraction of the market. Whereas they can build this pile and sell it to tons of people with more money than sense. 😂

It's so sad what's happened to Mini. I have an '06 JCW, and when it's working well, it's superb. But I would never buy another one, especially the current gen. Chinese knockoff is all too right. But it makes sense that Mini has given up on maintaining the ethos that made it popular when BMW has done the same.

I would imagine you can get this same engine in a JCW/S by just doing a tune or swapping some parts from the JCW Clubman/Countryman. As far as I understand the 300hp engine in the GP is the same as the JCW clubman/countryman. I guess they only put it in a special Cooper bc that amount of power overwhelms the front wheels, whereas the Clubman/Countryman have AWD. So a regular consumer looking for a Cooper S/JCW (more so the S buyers) wouldn’t know what it is, how to handle it, and would complain a bunch
Yea if it has the same b48 engine and same size turbo it should be possible...the only thing I remember was an issue on higher hp tuned b48's were the weak pistons? I could be wrong...
I can't believe they delivered this car without the JCW PRO exhaust. The exhaust makes the car 100% and with a diff they become what they should be out of the factory. Getting a mini S with the jcw tuning kit, exhaust, and Dinan tune the car is ten times better
Hey Matt and Zack ! Can you guys ask the owners what their plans for their car is ? I believe it would be very interesting to see what's possibly in store for the vehicles we see.
When it comes to the carbon sides , if mini would have molded the tops into the fenders and left the gap for aerodynamics (to look like some sort of mini super car) would have been sweet. To me it looks more like an afterthought with the way they are now
I’ve had two GPs and was a really early customer on the Gen1. I loved it. With this one..? No manual = No interest. Which sucks... I had the concept as my screensaver for months.

@@ChaosphereIX The R50/R53 was designed and developed under AustinRover. Which is probably part of it. Plus it was never meant to 100% replace the original Mini. That only happened due to BMW. Austin had just completed the "Minki" pre production prototypes which were essentially classic Minis with a hatchback and the running gear from a Mk2 Metro. BMW axed the project as soon as they knew it existed.
Never beat the R53 supercharged gp1, it's just so good at thrills delivery. And that supercharged whining 🤣
More two takes please!
If you want the soul successor to a GCW Mini buy a Fiesta ST
You’re not wrong. The ST is a riot. And cheap as chips.
Try a new manual JCW. I’ve daily driven one for the last 2 years and it’s awesome. 235 hp through the front wheels is the sweet spot for that chassis.
Absolutely loved mine as a daily driver for the past two years (before someone rear ended / totalled it..)
Jef P. Ouch 😓
I propose a name TwinTake. Kinda like Twin Turbos, kinda like an Intake, too :)
Wow road is awesome! Bet riding bike through that canyon would be epic. Where is it tho?
Western Malibu
Knowledgeable car guys, fun to watch.
Looks like the GP shifts slower than the JCW auto? Zach drove the JCW and looked thrilled... but it was a manual.
More videos of Zack scaring Matt pls
GP1 is still the ultimate.
Veloster N with performance package is $30k keep and $28k real world procing. Civic Type R is $37k before markup. Veloster sounds better than bother the Type R and the JCW GP as well
4:18 Veloster N is $29.7k msrp with the Performance pack.
I think you should test the new Mini electric. Drives really well but the range isn’t the best at 130 mile
I owned a 2013 GP(about the most fun I’ve ever had) and seeing this new car is highly disappointing. Probably never buying another mini again.
What number was your 2013 Gp2?
Pyramid Motorsport One V10 Music 493 of 2000 of I remember correctly. Do you have one or have you had one?
@@jaredstueckel Yes sir, I had the Gp #203! It was a garage queen driven less than 500 miles a year. I miss mine. Hope to find another low mileage one in great shape for the right price! Ps. I'm still undecided on the new one..
@Pyramid Motorsport One V10 Music I only had mine for a year and it was mostly just for autoX and perfect weather driving. I got rid of mine 4 years ago for a 91 skyline GTR and got rid of that a year ago for a Lexus ISF. That’s the current best option for my wife and I as a fun weekend/track car now that we have a 2 and 3 year old. I’m stuck with 4 door options for awhile lol
Recently got #0072, it's great!
Miss the R53!!!!
I’ve had the 2013 one with the VSA Peugeot engine.. Had to rebuild the entire engine well below 100k.. hope this engine lasts a bit longer
lines up for a launch by the speed limit sign haha!
Love the happy Gilmore quote!
More 2 takes please
I own a 2013 cooper s but is it wrong that I like fighting the steering wheel when stepping on it? 😳
What area are you testing this Mini? This area looks really nice and peaceful.
It looks as if Matt's been taking driving lessons. Nice driving Matt!!
When it comes to the carbon sides , if mini would have molded the tops into the fenders and left the gap for aerodynamics (to look like some sort of mini super car) would have been sweet. To me it looks more like an afterthought with the way they are now
Next gen needs rear biased awd at least as an option
I like minis, but at this price I'd have the M240i or a nice 997 911 with around 50k miles or less.
I’ve had two GPs and was a really early customer on the Gen1. I loved it. With this one..? No manual = No interest. Which sucks... I had the concept as my screensaver for months.
An autotomatic JCW mini? Just why...
I do like the Type R looks more
Man, do I love when I get the Klap!!
Zack and Matt doubleteam review ftw.
Bonus: Zack and Matt try to escape the box canyon in Perfection in 'Tremors: Smoking Tire Edition' at 6:12
Gets going at the top of 3rd? That's a classic BMW trait.
Are y’all going to do a review of the new Clubman JCW ?
It’s finally great to see Matt get a taste of his own medicine. If you go back and watch old videos you will see how many of the owners are scared shitless when Matt is behind the wheel and he could care less. Pure hilarity!
12:42 sad but true.. Mini’s have lost that compact and gokart kinda feeling that they used to have..
Two Take= WIN
Way to go Zack, nice ride for Matt😆
Little sycamore canyon road... gets super thin and sketchy about 2 miles in but still so much fun!
Thank you!
The transmission is laaaaagy bro, you can tell just by listening to the Motor in this video. What’s up with that? 🤷
probably burnt through another clutch.
Automatics suck, that's why..
HomeWrecknKneeKnockr I have to agree on a ‘performance oriented’ car they should’ve had a manual, if not then at least a DCT.
Is this the same gp we get in the UK ? Cos watching this it seems like you drove it with the hand brake on...🤔
I wish, You could test the strongest inline 3 cylinder version.
Can we get that front facing camera pointed a bit more to the road and not so much on the hood ?
There's not much too see on most hoods anyway.
