The origin of potato and corn is from Andes mountain range by Inca civilization so Peru has more than 40 types of corn and 3,000 types of potato. Peru has so good dishes
The Inca where the last of a long line of civilizations, Peru has a 6000 year old history, at least when it comes to urban civilizations. And they all contributed to grow and select the best seeds to have the wonderful food we have now.
I LOOOOOVE LUCUMA. So sad it's not available fresh abroad only frozen. In Lima, they make a pudding you can buy in any grocery store, the same way we make banana pudding in USA but with lucuma. Also birthday cake ...
We've been using lucuma in Peru forever, especially in ice creams, milkshakes, etc; its a staple of Peru. That's the fruit Peruvians abroad miss the most
Another great video! You guys were spot on! Two of the things that Peruvians overseas do when visiting Peru is to eat cebiche and anything with lucuma (ice cream, desserts, etc.), one of the most delicious fruits worldwide. BTW, the orange vegetable in the cebiche was sweet potato. Glad you guys could enjoy Cerveza Cusqueña. Another drink to accompany cebiche with is Inca Kola (yellow-coloured soda with a lemongrass flavor). The rice with seafood's color was not just because of turmeric, but also yellow chili paste. If you stay in Peru beyond April, do get a cebiche de conchas negras (black scallops cebiche). It is delicious! The black scallops offseason ends in late March, so it is not available right now. Enjoy and have fun!
Hi from a Brazilian in Germany. Lúcuma is a very interesting type of fruit. The synonymous for it here in Germany is "Gold der Inkas", which means gold of the Inkas. I think we only have lucuma powder here but I can try at the Viktualienmarkt here in Munich as they also sell the whole jackfruit 😁
The First time I ate Ceviche, after a while the lemon was so strong that I couldn't taste anymore, and yet couldn't stop eating, cause I loved It(and had no rice). A few days later I tryed again and many years later, Just remember It makes me wanna return there. And you say "muy bueno", not mucho lol. For tourism, search for Huaraz. Its in the North, in the middle of the Andes and Very, Very beautiful and hardly anybody goes there.
Yo no lo veo tan caro he visto en lugares el jugo de papaya hasta a 7 soles considerando que la lucuma es una fruto mucho mas cara 10 soles es un precio razonable.
when you said " they should use this for desserts man" i died because the lucuma desserts are freaking insane!!! im peruvian american glad yall enjoyed the country where i was born! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Lucuma pronounced Lu-Koo-Ma is used in many dessert dishes in Peru. Like cake, ice cream, cheesecakes, donuts, cookies and many more. StarBucks in Lima sales Lucuma Frappuccino’s btw. It’s also more expensive than an apple banana or orange.
I love cuzqueña beer. My husband is from California and in the beginning he hated ceviche, now when we go eat Peruvian food ceviche is what he ask for all the time, that and jalea de mariscos ☺️
I love how you manage to communicate with locals with just a few words and a lot of sign language 😆. Cheers guys! I'm glad you liked our food, it's our national pride 🇵🇪

Try the famous churros San Francisco near the capital Square and the Picarones you won't regret it. Oh yeah anticuchos are everyone's favourite food By the way enjoying the videos. Stay safe and guys enjoy the variety of dishes there's just too many.
Great video. Great energy - can feel the joy, fun and happiness touring that clean and well organised market. Pretty surprised to see all the vendors there covered their hair with plastic caps....a very good practice !!! Exciting seeing you both found a new fruit there. Lucuma, taste like caramel....sounds interesting !! Thank you, Steve lvana for this beautiful video. It's educational and l learned when there's something new and different. Wow the market looks very nice. Clean and well organise. Steve you have fully gotten use to eating fish or maybe seafood in general. Well done Steve. Ceviche might not look appetising but looks can be deceiving. You have to try it to actually know what it taste like. Lucuma is something new to me. I would like to try it if I have the chance.

I’m so happy 😀 that you enjoy Peruvian food… tried lomo saltado, jalea, tiradito, ají de gallina, sanguche (sándwich)de pork, pollo a la brasa ( pardos miraflores ),anticuchos..i live in Windsor on. Disfruten( enjoy 😉)
I loved how much you liked lucuma! I like it so much as juice and of course in desserts 🤤 Also, it was funny the deep breath you took before trying ceviche 😄
The Ceviche you ate was so white because (MAYBE) they used milk to cook it. They cook it with lime, and sometimes milk, depends on the chef. Also it doesn't take a week to cure it like a meat in salt, the white fresh fish cooks in lime only in 10-15 minutes. Also that wasn't pumpkin it was sweet potato.
Para disfrutar mejor de los sabores y las combinaciones en los platos peruanos hay que probar todo lo que tienes en el plato, por ejemplo el camote que le da un sabor increíble al ceviche al combinarlo
Your market videos are always great! Best way to try local food. If you go back to Brazil, Belo Horizonte (minas) has a great market (as many people said, minas has great food)
Lucuma is great! Try the Lucuma mousse if you have the opportunity. But if you have a taste for sweet fruits you should try chirimoya, in my opinion this is the best Peruvian fruit. Concerning to salty dishes I suggest trying causa rellena, made with yellow potato, tuna and avocado (but the fillings may vary). I’m Brazilian but have been a lot of times in Peru (my sister lived there) and I’m passionated about the country and specially its food.

Love the food market videos - please do more of them! When I was in Barcelona for 3 months, I visited EVERY food market in town...all 25 of them. I want to try lucuma because I love the taste of caramel. Some people think durian tastes like burnt caramel but I wasn't a fan...
Thanks, Linda! We will definitely visit more markets! And some people think durian tastes like onion! 😅 We don’t think so, and we love it! And yes, try lucuma when you get the chance!
That learning curve of enjoying ceviche was great 😂 it is a complex flavor not found in most mainstream cuisines, thats why tourists may take time to enjoy it
Closed markets like Surquillo tend to sell things a bit more expensive due to the type of location. If you go to any open markets in the street, things are a bit more cheaper. Thank you guys for visiting this beautiful country 😊! Hope you guys can go back to visit the mountain are and the rainforest
I'm from Peru, I love the way u r so impressed for corn, my country is on of the most variable in food, I hope that u can try all and good luck in all ur trips , additional people laught because here is ware to meet foreigners in our dairy life so is not bad if they laught

Hey hey guys 👋😅 I’m drooling here ok 😂 wow guys awesome best place ever whenever you go to the market I just love to see all kinds of food and snacks. The corn snacks , dried roselles and dried oranges looks super delicious 😋👍🏻 the sellers are so friendly and welcoming. I wonder what is the English name for the fruit amazing taste definitely 😃 looks like mango ? I would really appreciate if you could explore more of a local market , that would be exciting 👍🏻 Cucurna is scientific name for tumeric , the food looks delicious as always , yess museum day tomorrow 👍🏻 great video guys 🥰😘
@@JetLagWarriors I will try and look for lucuma hopefully we have it here , we have the cactus fruit @ prickly pear imported from central western region , superbly delicious but definitely a bit pricey. Thanks for introducing us to this unique fruit 5-⭐️
The next time in LIma you can bougth in any supermarket (Plaza Vea - Wong - Metro - Vivanda...) the lucuma powder, put to hydrate with little warm water to get paste and you can make your delicious milkshake
The orange thing in the ceviche is sweet potatoe. You should try to have a bite with fish, sweet potatoe, the corn , and the cancha (crunchy corn on a side), all at once. It’s an explosion of flavors in your mouth.
In Lima there are good sandwiches on the street, but in the Andes it is another level, in Cusco there are even coca candies! all legal and sold a lot!!.
Just for your information the orange thing in the ceviche is camote; I think it's called sweet potato. The stick thingies at the start are yuca, but made flour and cooked that way, you can also find it as little donuts.
It is funny how you guys speak with someone who said that doesn't speak english, but you guys keep saying things in english anyway hahaha. The vídeo is great tho! Now I want to try this lukma!! :D
They say it in English along with a hand gesture, just because I guess it would look even more weird without saying anything, as if they were deaf and not foreigners haha also you never know, in Brazil for example people that don't speak English actually know many words, sometimes dozens
As peruvian I should say: Yes, we use lucuma for all kind of desserts, even ice creams 😋 Funny is I’am enjoying a frozen lucuma ice cream while I’am seeing this video haha. Thank you for visiting my country!
if you like seafood you have to try go to "al toque pez" it's a huarike (like a small cheap restaurant, but good) near of miraflores, with one of the best ceviches in lima. You're gonna love it :)

@@JetLagWarriors 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the food market videos - please do more of them! When I was in Barcelona for 3 months, I visited EVERY food market in town...all 25 of them. I want to try lucuma because I love the taste of caramel. Some people think durian tastes like burnt caramel but I wasn't a fan...
Thanks, Linda!
We will definitely visit more markets!
And some people think durian tastes like onion! 😅 We don’t think so, and we love it! And yes, try lucuma when you get the chance!
14:06 she said: enjoy your trip, stay safe and take care ❤👍🏼
That learning curve of enjoying ceviche was great 😂 it is a complex flavor not found in most mainstream cuisines, thats why tourists may take time to enjoy it
LOL! Yeah, my first look at it gave me a bad impressions... but the taste is very yummy :)
Closed markets like Surquillo tend to sell things a bit more expensive due to the type of location. If you go to any open markets in the street, things are a bit more cheaper. Thank you guys for visiting this beautiful country 😊! Hope you guys can go back to visit the mountain are and the rainforest
Qué bueno que hayas disfrutado tu visita, por otro lado, sería bueno usar el Google Translate con la opción de voz... Digo, es solo una idea. Saludos👍
43:06 OMG! Now i HAVE TO find the fruit!!!
PERÚ,, recargador de energía,, divino video 💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘🤘

Wow la Comida PERUANA es TODO un ORGASMO para TU PALADAR😋
Just saw this … and the fish dish is something similar that we had in Sarawak we call umai. Hope you can try it out when you visit Sarawak next
If you come back to Lima, I wouldn't mind on giving you a free tour around, teaching you to cook ceviche and showing you more about my beloved city.
"Sweet pumpkin" lol you guys are cute. Thanks for trying my Peruvian food. It is not pumpkin though, it is sweet potatoes. Regards from a Peruvian living in Hawaii.
I think the English name is also lucuma! And glad you like our market videos!😁
Haven't seen you guys do a farm video in a while. You oughta go to the caramel fruit farm
The food in Peru is unbelieable. I had the same reaction when I tried Ceciche for the first time😂
The first fruit that you tried is plum (ciruela), the second one is known as golden berry (aguaymanto) and lucuma originally from Peru
Hope to see you again in Perú
Jose : Juices and sandwiches , Ivana : Uhm what is this one rolf
Peru is unique in all aspects! Cheers🍻
20:33 LOL. Steve got a flashback from Malaysia. 🤣🤣🤣
As peruvian I should say: Yes, we use lucuma for all kind of desserts, even ice creams 😋 Funny is I’am enjoying a frozen lucuma ice cream while I’am seeing this video haha. Thank you for visiting my country!
we want some lucuma ice cream now!
if you like seafood you have to try go to "al toque pez" it's a huarike (like a small cheap restaurant, but good) near of miraflores, with one of the best ceviches in lima. You're gonna love it :)
We do use Lúcuma for every kind of desert you can think of, it's like a staple food here!
Ciruela is plum. Aceituna is olive. They dried them and marinate them in a salsa criolla: oil, onion and ají.
