I guess it could be related to why the Frontier Union was so under protected. The CDF may have been stretched thin fighting pirates. But I also think that the Mercian’s were strong enough to deter any plans on “reincorporateing”. The gate to their system is well defended and they have a capable shipping industry so I can imagine the mercenary fleets were strong enough to discourage that kind of planning.
@@bluebonic3497 A common tactic by smaller nations who can’t hope to overpower their rivals is to make a defense that strong enough to make a potential invasion a major investment.
Imagine being a centran captain in axius watching merician weapons go from the keep to atamarra and knowing that but for a contract the war would be over
Yeah i bet the KDFY execs were happy to see the crew they tossed to a decaying star back safe and sound... If they're even alive by then. On a serious note this was very inspiring to watch and I'm really happy i get to properly learn about the mericians, this gives me all the more reasons to buy the series when i can afford it.
Late to this but i think its said that only the commoner and the immigrants suffer from the famine, the mid and high classes of Mericia is said to still has plenty supply to survive it
Anyone see similarities between Tantalus and the system from Galaxy on Fire 2? The use of gates that mean you have to hop between systems and cant just go from one end to the other, the Terrans who are the CDF, the Vossk as the Advaris, etc. (It could also just be a number of common tropes and I am pulling connections from nothing but I think its cool nonetheless)
I wonder why did the assembly let the mericians keep there independence surely there would have been some cries by politicians who thought they new better, and how did that effect the frontier independence movement it’s not hard to image propaganda going “they let them have freedom but not us” Also this has nothing to do with the video content but now that atamara is no longer in the assembly wouldn’t it be prudent to construct a drift gate pair between axius and seravius so you don’t have to chose between going the long way around or risk entering a system ruled by a pirate queen
Many nations use a strategy of not being tough to take easily instead of strong enough to be equals. Plus it’s fair to say that the Mercians didn’t ever actually declare independence. The founding of the freehold had more to do with their leadership dying in transit and the reality of being isolated from the rest of tantalus than trying to rid themselves of Centran rule. It’s important to remember that the frontier wasn’t just oppressed, it was neglected. I don’t think the assembly would be as eager to fight the Mercians as they were quickly economically linked with tantalus because of the drift deposits and were becoming strong enough to assert their sovereignty.
While this is my people and nation. I can't help but see the obvious divide of the upper and lower classes of the rich and poor. I wouldn't be surprised if mericians have some corruption within the private companies that they have that most of tantalis is so reliant on. Funny enough, if theirs such high inflation within tantalis (ik Im spelling the name wrong), I can suspect a lot of it is coming from the massive corporations from the mericians. Irl 45 percent of all high inflation rn is caused by corporations profiting off of whats happening irl, 40 percent caused by the war in ukraine, and the other 15 percent by the rising wages. Wages irl have barely risen to meet with inflation because as stuff gets more expensive over time, you need a higher salary to meet and be able to still afford things like food, water, bills, etc. Because lack of jobs, high inflaction, and the collapse of supply of food and resources like metals etc, its no wonder why we can see a massive famine granted its more complex than what it actually says in the lore but for sure if you have control over most of the manufacturered parts and contracts, corporations can easily raise massive amounts of prices to keep trying to raise profits. If the mericians were to nationalize those massive corporations and companies within their industries, would most definitely would be able to ease the inflation, and the high prices within the cluster would certainly and mostly help. Now, the lack of jobs and supply lines for food and such that's a more complex problem that will have to be solved. I think its funny for people to say this series in the universe of the sojourn is better than ours, which tbh I find bs and ignorant because they would likely have similar and much more complex problems like us irl than what the lore can even tell us like take the merician exile for example how astronomers thought the star was in a state it wouldnt have a bad solar event which happened showed how the company took short cuts to keep up there profits and not studying the star enough and taking safe enough measures before actually sending the fleet in which got caught in a solar flare event, But hey, I like to know what some might think of what im saying here is interesting take on whats happening with humanity. I would like to know what exactly kind of economy the mericians have and if their using a capitalist system or whatever their using would be great to know. I know this is just a series but I do like to know how much deeper and speculate how much their is beyond of what the lore tells us. What do you think?

And wow, Mericia looks *amazing.*
G'day comrade
Heya Pleb!
Mericians greeting eachother be like "What's up my Rigga?"
I've been curious about the merician's for a while. How a such a small, independent nation was allowed to exist without a war of independence

There is no way that Meric's portrait looking like Matt Mercer of Critical Roll is a coincidence?!
Australia + Venice = Mericia

The station reminds me of a late Cylon War Basestar.
In one episode we encounter a Mercian captain who describes herself as a “city girl” and from the “middle beams”. Now we know what that means.
Or moonbase alpha
Dang, raise a glass to Adam Meric.
Ok I have a question. Is Mericia affected by rationing too? Are their food supplies also strained?
The more I think about it the more I like the idea but they would say smt about it by noe, right?

nice worldbuilding!
That's good work. Thank you.

Were the Mericians involved in the Frontier War aside from arms sales?
