I love seeing the older CDF ship designs. They truly feel less sophisticated and more utilitarian than the modern CDF ships, which makes perfect sense in the context of The Sojourn's technology level.
Yep. I especially like the extended radiators; gives you a sense of how much technology has advanced since the time when these vessels were first commissioned for their successors to have radiators so small they can be packed into the frame of the ship.
I would like to see an origin story for the Sojourn. Something like how they discovered Drift, First time in space, first colonists, and the wars before the Season 1 series. I watched the videos but it would still be interesting to hear it from a book format
It occurs to me that the beloved Morrigan class destroyer could be a good explorer, mining or trading style of ship for this serries. An old, outdated missile boat, decommissioned of its payload and firing mechanisms, sold at auction and reproposed for private use. Assuming all of the missiles and launchers where in the front of the vessel, that would leave a lot of room for cargo. Suitable for a single or three person crew.
Oooooooh 👀 Teasing season 2 at the very end there no? What else could prompt the revival of the service than the after effects of season 1. Once you send a larger force through to secure a stable drift lane into the nebula, ships from the service could spend centuries mapping the Lauralyn Conduits and all the systems they lead too.
Yep, and the Nebula could also serve as a jump stop to the Morgana Galaxy as well. Of course, there's the War with the Advari to sort through first, and then whatever the heck is going on with the Mechanism. That could easily take up all of Season 2 and Beyond. Of course, it is entirely possible that all of the Luaralyn Conduits have already been mapped out by the Advari in their millennia of dominance over the Sanctum, so mapping would not really be all that necessary once their maps were obtained. Either by seizing an Advari Lightship or via technology exchange in a Post-War setting.
Or retired personnel, pining for a purpose amidst a collapsing world, only to be told that a dangerous new frontier rich with adventure and resources now has a two way link.

Earth’s space exploration was originally spurred on by the space race and competition, while Centrum is literally just addicted to exploring
Weeeel earthlings are also kind off addicted to exploration

This is an awesome idea! I'd love a pin with that logo!
And patch. Hell I'd buy pins and patches of all the logos
Big Erebus/ Terror Franklin expedition energy.
I really want to see a video about the Commerce War now.
Can we get a lore video on the Temperantia Class 2nd Rate Ship of the Line
Plus the 1st rates or arashi sakarum
I am certain we will get that and more besides in due course, though it is important to have patience.
@@BlandSpagetti Dude, I would be happy and content seeing artwork of the Arashi Sakarum
So might the Discovery Service come back in season 2?

Yay! A new lore short!
To boldly go...
Good stuff.
Imagine if Starfleet just shut down because it ran out of money?😅
