But why are people ignoring the fact that even though Gukesh didn't play his best, his opponent played even worse at the end of the match because he made a fatal mistake. It was Ding's mistake, so punishing Gukesh by undermining his achievement is so idotic. Its not like Ding gave his title willingly or anything.
Gukesh was the one pushing everytime and I don't think it's hard for a good player like ding to draw a game. If gukesh wasn't hustling till the end result might be very different.also the game always ends because of blunder, The last time was also due to blunder but because this time it's happened in front of gukesh being opponent they say it's nothing of achivement for gukesh to win as ding blunderd. Gukesh forced him to blunder he was frozen tired and gave up. Since start of tournament except 2 matches he was just playing defence for a draw wanting to take this to tie break and it didn't happened. Ding failed 🙂
You have nailed it. People are only looking at the the last blunder. Gukesh mostly up on time and he was trying for the win whereas Ding was trying not to lose.
Yes he is correct. Gukesh in this match wasnt at the level we have seen him this past year. I believe its because he relied too much on opening prep and then got into positions he doesnt understand or he muddles up prep, -- so he has to work with positions where he cannot play to his strengths. If you want prep to work for you, you cannot half-ass it. Go the full way like Fabi & Arjun do. He never relied too much on prep before this. He needs to reflect & figure out what positions & opening prep suits him. His best game till now was in the Olympiad, not here.
You have Gukesh 6 months prep, team of 6-7 to support him, sponsors etc. And you have ding, 3 weeks prep, rapport maybe the only one, and your family to support you. And you win the match at the 14th game due to a massive blunder in the end. If it was hikaru, or fabi, Gukesh would have definitely lost with such a bad performance. He lost rating points from this match to Begin with. So Gukesh didn't win it decisively. He was just lucky in the end. That's my honest take.
Come on guys, they played fantastic chess, Gukesh is the one always taking risks, without risks he would have delivered engine precise game, all games would have ended in draw like previous world championship matches..... I enjoyed the trilling games

Ding was paid off to deliberately lose the 2024 world chess championship title. There's proof abd even if you pay attention closely you'll see it. Look how effortlessly he won game 1 and game 12. I'm intermediate and every "blunder" ding made i saw them moves before. He can trick many people but not me 😒
he had some good moments in the match but lost so he was paid to lose? Yeah and was he paid to lose Norway chess too where he played way worse here? Even blundered mate in 2? If you take time to analyze game 1 and 12, you’ll see gukesh played bad in game 1 and he had a worse position out of the opening in game 12. Why would Ding even try to win game 12 if he was paid to lose? The game 14 blunder wasn’t even that surprising, even Danya thought it was the best move in the position. @JoeJoe-uh5rp Ding looks happy and relieved in interviews after the match. Say you want but ding lost on purpose, he wanted to lose. The lime light and pressure is not what he wanted. Gukesh got $1.5 million and Ding got $1.2 million from the match. Do the math, ding took the money before he left he didn't want to forfeit the match and leave empty handed like Carlsen and Fischer. Point is, he got good money (plus the bribe for losing on purpose) and got rid of the pressure and lime light that comes with being a world champion. 2 birds, 1 stone
You are just a hater. I watched all those matches and I can give you 5-6 moments where gukesh was clearly winning but ding fought so hard gukesh had to settle with draw. So your accusation is rubbish.@@user-xn3ms2dw4g
You have to consider the opponent. Magnus was actually playing the second best player of the time, while this match was barely a top 10 players. When you play worse players it's much easier to get a higher precision, so much easier.

In the end, Gukesh is still the youngest chess world champion and better than all the other contenders to win the title.
Honest take. Next match gukesh may lose the title with a performance similar to this one.

Gukesh WWC average accuracy 2024 - 95%
Magnus WWC average accuracy 2016 - 92 %
Numbers speak for themselves.
Accuracy doesn't mean everything. You can play forced draws and get 98-99% accuracy even if you are 1000 ELO
