Budget Hemi Build makes Big Mopar Power!

- This is Not an Ls, or an S10 are the first words we heard as we were watching this little hot rod Dodge Dakota pickup being unloaded. This is a stock hemi on Megasquirt and twin turbos . First we tune it on pump gas and a few pounds which was awesome. Then we get rowdy and put some jam in it! Hold on tight friends because this tune up was a blast!

Starts at 350+ hp...ends at 800+ Brent is the definition of a tuner💪🤯👍
Finally a HEMI! Something I can relate to.
Glad to see you enjoy the truck!
Same thing i was thinking lol.. Had to watch
So happy to see some newer generation Mopar power instead of LS everything!!! Great build to the guys and awesome job PFI!
+1
Amen!
Thank you for that comment! I'm glad that my guys here KrazyHousePerfomance mad ya proud to bring you guys somthing that hasn't been seen as much if at all. Bent and I are not done this truck is going for more!
Mopar or nocar
Ya man 👌
I like this guy. "If I'm going to build a dodge it's going to be a dodge." Nice
Thank you sir!(:
Same. These frankenweenie builds are getting out of hand. I love a Mopar that still has a Mopar heart.
@Vampyric Winter okay 12 year old, only cringe is you
@@krazyhouseperformance just subbed love the truck
@@Karrguy1973 thank you! Can't wait to bring more on it. It's coming up soon!
Let me get this straight. So you have a stock 5.7 hemi no forge internals with twin turbos, and you're making over 800 horsepower? I am impressed!! 👍
No problem. Just gap the rings.
I love people's expressions when they test drive their cars after your tune! I bet that makes it all worth it!
So glad to see some HEMI MOPARS on PFI!!!!!
Us as well so glad they had us he killed it and no where near done
@@krazyhouseperformance that's one BADASS mow...chine!!!!
@@krazyhouseperformance dig the ride, ready for my hemi to be tuned out!
@@jeepwk6.5L yes sir and thank you!
What’s ya @?
Budget Hemi:
Twin turbos, no tune = 387hp
Twin turbos, tuned = BEAST MODE 😂
can anyone else smell this truck interior in your head?
It smells like subway sandwiches and gear lube lol
Jamie hunting for wiring problems is probably my favorite thing
He's the best troubleshooter and a good fireman. When theres problems he always comes to the rescue.
Wiring is the most frustrating and most rewarding park of the build. Especially diagnosing an issue that is holding back power.
PFI FOR LIFE CONGRATS on graduation lil man!!
love how brent soldiers through stumbling over words and picks himself up and keeps going unembarrassed. shows courage . let's go!
I wish I could do that, but something in my head makes me feel like I can't or something lol
That's a sweet truck I had a 1987 Dakota back in the mid 90's it had a 3.8 liter v6 and ripped it out was wanting to put a 440 in it but instead settled on a 360 with ported 340 heads a big cam with a A833 4 speed trans put a 8 3/4 rear end in it out of a old road runner that had 3.73 sure grip that I traded a guy that had a 4.10 sure grip carrier the thing flew a friend of mine had a S10 with a 355 sbc and he could not keep up with me I would walk away from him half track and leave a gap on him all the time LOL it was a fun truck.
This video was one of the gnarliest gains/trial and error tunes I’ve ever witnessed. So happy for the owner!!! You can see it in his and his buddies faces when they rip it lol
Brents the MAN!!!! LETS GOOOO..... also shout out to that portion of the video where buddy gets a passenger ride with ride on the rollers and doesn’t know where toooooooo look lol
So happy for all those involved, again, PFI Speed killing it on the rollers.
“It’s simple, push air in move air out” Brent circa the beginning of time!!!! So dope
Nice S10.....LOL (kidding)
Needs a cage now.
Nice one I did still exspect this tho(; haha hope you enjoyed
Needs a page for sure
@@timlamein9637 what polour should they caint it? Regular black or red to match the truck?
@@_Professor_Oak oi thats difficult. It say both would look great. But a little more as an accent would be nice
ASAP
2020, when putting a dodge motor in a dodge is "doing something different" 🤣
ThePants it is. We live in a world of LS and Cummins swaps. Pretty rare to see anything else.
Knowing what the hell one is doing with a DODGE is something different in itself!!
350 to 877.....is something different...
@@silverback4616 brents a rockstar on the dyno 💯💪
It’s like back in the old hotrod days everyone built old ford cars and put Small block Chevys in them. It’s just the newer generation, Chevy always dominates 🤪
Thanks for working on a new Mopar Hemi. Obviously I'm a Mopar guy but I love seeing all the various engines that make stupid power with lots of boost. But it's great to see something other than a LS make serious power for dirt cheap👍
Thank you glad to see you love the truck / build
@@krazyhouseperformance Thanks, it's a cool truck and I remember when they were new and the best you could get was a v6 and then they finally put a 318 in the second gen I think, maybe late first gen besides the Shelby. Buddy had a new second gen 4x4 with a 5.2 and he loved that thing and got stupid in it all the time. I'm sure it wasn't cheap once you got all the upgrades and made it all fit but you did it in house and it's right up there with similar setups👌
honestly the gen 3 hemis don't get the love they deserve, they have so much power potential at a relatively stock build I don't see why more people aren't swapping them. Awesome truck and one hell of a job brent!
Price is the problem
Bingo Yahtzee we have a winner!
Mopar parts are stupid crazy expensive. You can build 4 LS motors to one HEMI.
@@DoyleShadduck I know they're spendy, built more than a few. I could buy 4 sets of the same heads for a sbc for the price of one set of small block mopar heads. But the Mopar engines seem to have a lot of things from the factory that would've already been an upgrade on a GM. Like the shaft mounted rockers in the Mopars vs the pedistal mount rockers on the GM, along with thread on oil pickup tubes vs the GM press on (weld on lol) style. Plus a 2 bolt main small block mopar has damn near the same clamp load on the main caps as a 4 bolt main GM. There's plenty of other nice touches on Mopar engines that would be upgrades in GM engines too. But yeah, the GM engines are dummy cheap to build compared to Mopar and Blue Oval stuff.
When your tuner can get you an extra 500rwhp that guy knows his shit!
Heck yeah, love the Mopar content.
And “they” say those stock hyper pistons CANT do this. MOPAR OR NO CAR
Oh they can. The bigger question is: how long lol
@@eldiablort1461 truuuuue
With proper ring gap they can do it
geez, who doesn't love the sound of a Hemi !!
The passengers reaction at the end was awesome
My buddy did have one of the best reactions I have seen!
@@krazyhouseperformance it was great to see mate! Big fan of the hemi engine in a dodge too! Good on ya bud, enjoy that bad ass ride!!
Spark is so important!!!! A candle will always need a light to start a flame... dual plugs are great and all, but if the boxes are crap, it wont light! So it defeats the purpose!!! I learned this very early on playing with rotaries as a teenager
The passengers face during that 1st street pull was priceless !
love the variety Brent brings to the table, even tho I'm the farthest thing from a Mopar guy
Same. But I'm a car guy so anything that makes power enough to be fun I FULLY SUPPORT.
That thing is awesome!! My fully forged 5.7 to 6.4 394 Hemi Stroker will be out of the machine shop next week, you can twin turbo that thing!
Super cool build, I really like seeing something different now and again. Props to him for a clean build too, it looks great!
Congratulations on the graduation! Ah such a good feeling
Cool how he stayed brand specific..im not a Mopar guy but I totally respect the build
Appreciate it a lot man! Lots of time in this build and lots more to go.
Holy crap!! Over double the power it came in with that's awesome. Love how you guys know your shit so well and tune everything. Great job Brent and J dawg. See you soon with a few of my whips. Awesome episode boys! Great job on the build of this beast to the 2 guys that brought her in also.
Great job guys. We go way back when they built my first 600 hp back in 2003. Guys are hands down a great bunch of guys and knowledgeable. Had issues a year later and they actually flew to me and helped the tune on the new upgrades! This guys is real genuine just like what you see on this video! Wow didn’t know you guys had a page. You have my subscription.
Nice looking truck and sounds amazin, seams like you all had fun tuning it and just hanging out!!
Wow, I watched this last year and was good with it but, a year later I have learned so much from Brent and Jamie that this is an absolute GREAT video. Teach us more!! Thanks guys!!
Awesome truck build! Fun to see what can be done with a bit of a lower budget. Crazy bang for the buck and I can't wait to see it on the track!
38:53,says it all.Look at the Miles of Smiles all the work produced.Well done, one and All !
Man that man loves his job. I wish i can find somebody like this in New Orleans.
No more ls swaps, more hemi swaps
Once they become more plentiful in yards and if the prices come down a bit. I'm sure they'll be more common.
His laugh at the 38 minute mark says it all! Truck comes in with 380hp leaves with 870hp+. I need this done to my challenger lol!
Man what a great build. Clean and simple.
Congratulations Steven , Brent you are the man , I have always been a Mopar guy at heart , growing up with my dad and thats all we drove and worked on at our shop , we had some Chevy and Fords also , lately between PFI & BoostedBoiz you guys!!!!! , I love cars like you do.Thanks to you guys I am planning on getting my first Honda and playing with it a little , be in touch when its time to tune it , great video
Dude I watched the entire 45 minutes , this is amazing that truck came with 382 HP and leaved with 500+ thats insane it's not even the same truck anymore and the build and the guys where super cool , amazing video Brent , showing us the spark plugs gapping and the different issues that the truck had , AGAIN MY FAVORITE VIDEO HANDS DOWN!!
The truck didn't come with a Hemi an probably only made 225 HP at the engine.
Love it.. if they're tuned right they'll hold together.. we have a 6.1 customer who's been holding 18psi with his twin turbo set up using the same brand turbos for 2 years now.. beats the hell out of it.. it made 720 on 12psi... haven't dynoed it in the 18s.. definitely in the 800s lol
Like that Proud Dad look !! Congratulations 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I have an 88 Dakota with a 360 swap. Loved seeing another Dakota making power!
Their smiles when driving it were absolutely priceless!😁👌
Congratulations Steven!
Congrats Steven! Good job guys
From what I can tell from the video this old dakota has really nice paint and body lines which is awesome to see on an older dakota like this and obviously the bed is going to get some dings and dents but that is to be expected. I remember one of my buddies growing up bought a used dakota maybe a 91 or so with a 4 speed and a small v6
One of your best videos ever. Those Mopar guys are real decent gentlemen.
This what I love about you guys... Is you work on anything! Love it.
Mopar power! Hemi twin turbos going in my 2001 for sure. Great vid guys
I love seeing you guys fool with the hemis. Thanks
Literally doubled the power with tuning....absolutely impressive 👏 👌 👍
I'm happy to see some Mopar action. Nice job!!
YES GOOD TO SEE MOPAR BACK IN ACTION!
Boost blows the spark out! So cool to see how much better it runs with a tighter gap!
Congrats Steven Mopar time
Let's go make some power. Thank you for another video.
Y’all are awesome. I have a 98 Dakota got some inspiration from this video.
Super impressive! Very nice work.
Love too see some Mopar muscle for a change and to see what these new-age hemi motors can do with some boost
Mopar and Honda. My favorite! Glad I don’t have to go far to get my fix.
Wow!! What a difference.. could see how lazy the pull was in the beginning .... then super wild frame twisting torque at the end!! Amazing!! Bad ass ride guys!!
Congratulations on the graduation. As always great content you guys inspire me...... to get off my ass and fix this damn CRX lol. Thanks guys
Nice vid man. Congrats on your boy for graduating especially during these times. Good for him.
That's unreal to see a stock bottom end 5.7 make that much power. Good work yall!
I think it can make more. Just the spark blow out is really what was stopping it. We will be back after making some changes
I really like that y'all have started to show peoples reactions after tuning their cars on the recent videos, it really shows the reaction to the difference that tuning their vehicles makes.
What a rock-n-roll unit. Nice job.
I own one of these tucks , (though mines a 2nd gen 94) and I love these little trucks. It's awesome to see someone sup one of these I love the style of the 1st gen Dakotas.
Congratulations Steven! Love the video!
I’ve noticed that any of these channels or tv series shows that have “budget” in the title of that episode is not a budget for a normal person lol.
Favorite episode so far. Happy to see a Hemi get pushed hard on a SBE for a change
What a refreshing build.
That's badass. I just picked up an AWD Hemi Durango that's going to get a custom 3rd gen Dakota reg cab body swap and tomorrow I'm going to go get a 4.8 LS just for something to build. I'm also pulling another 5.7 Hemi out of a friend's truck to build for my 3rd gen Dakota x-cab.
Does the n/a hemi have the same internals of the boosted hellcat motors? Ls guy here dont know anything about these
@@wheeln24-79 hellcat engines are 6.2 L and have different internals than the 5.7 6.1 and 6.4 engines. The 5.7 and 6.1 have kinda the same block with a few differences but you can put 6.1 heads on a 5.7
I have a almost mint 96 Dakota. Same color too. ZERO rust, I would love to have a stock hemi in it. Dreams Dreams Dreams.
Congrats Steven.
Congrats Steven cant wait to watch you fly like your father and your brother in pfi ...blessings lil brother
Best noise you’ve had in the shop for long while.👍👍👍
Awesome build, love the combo and the raspberry pi carputer.
Another awesome Job by all U Boyz @ PFI. I'm in Australia been following yr channel well before U guys got too 5ok subs. The energy U guys just bring too where ever U go is Amazing thoroughly Love the in depth tuning knowledge. Just whatever U guy's do just keep being yrself's. 🤙🤙🤙👌
That was a clean setup wonder how many people try this combination GOOD JOB BRENT 💯✌✌
Glad to see that the out takes dont get cut out in editing...keeping it real.
We need after drives on all tunes !!!
I built a 49 F-1 with a 400 Pontiac from a 68 GTO. I was at a cruise night with my hood up. A guy walks up, takes a look under the hood and says “390”, and walks off.
I wish I could have gotten my hands on whatever he was smoking to make him high enough to confuse a Pontiac engine for an FE
AWESOME🔥😎..5.7 handling RED EYES 🤩😲. I need my 5.7 hyped up to around 500hp 👍🏽
Watching you take your time and try different things was fun to watch.
Those numbers with a stock bottom end on an eagle hemi🤯
Subbed.
Man that's a strange looking LS
😂😂😂😜yes it is!!
That's what we say!
I see it running but I don't hear the potato potato potato.... weird....
The guy brings in his Dodge, and gets the HP more than doubled! Brent should charge per HP gained.
That looks like so much fun!! Mint!
Thats so awesome! Brought that Mopar to life!!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 (PFI SPEED IN DA HOUSE)
Now that’s a budget big boy build 👏🏼💯
Nice, got me in the mood again to work on my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 and do upgrades
Need to replace the headers first
That’s awesome! Keep up the good work!
I have a 5.7 Hemi in my truck and I have a 6.2 LT in my SS Camaro right now and have had a few LS based trucks and an LS1 GTO. If it makes power it's good in my book.
I watch them do the first couple tunes, being all excited about under 500WHP, and I'm thinking "That's barely more than stock depending on the hemi you've got, and you have twin turbos. Why are you so happy?" .... Then I kept watching. So far we're at 879 WHP! That's more like it!
Exactly what I was looking for!!!
Congrats to you, and your son.
Came in with 350rwhp and left with doble that… 🤤🤤🤤 definitely a true genius behind the tuning… Awesome job!!
Not bad at all for a tiny 345 Hemi !!!! Those Eagle are soaring
