BACK-TO-BACK DYNO TEST: 5.7L Hemi Gets Intake, Headers, Camshaft!

- We're back with another Staged Package comparison! This time, we're showing the dyno data between intake, headers, and camshaft on Walter's 2022 Dodge Charger R/T! This video covers each of our Naturally Aspirated Staged Packages for 5.7L Hemi explained, installed & tuned, and put to the test back-to-back!
Follow along in the shop as we take this Charger R/T from showroom stock, to Stage-1, Stage-2, and Stage-3, with results highlighted throughout. Below are the contents of each Package covered:
Stage-1
• JLT Performance Series-II air-intake system
• National Speed in-house ECU/PCM unlock (for 2015-2022 models)
• SmartAccess cable (for 2018-2022 models)

422 whp is essentially around what a Scat Pack would be putting to the wheels, that would be some good gains for the R/T
Crazy that’s only cold air intake,cam,headers if you add a 6.4 intake manifold,hellcat fuel injectors a good tune and a throttle body and a whole cat back exhaust system easily 450 whp to 480whp and about 510-540 to the crank
This is interesting. I went a completely different route with my car. It was a 2011 300C 5.7. I swapped in a 6.4 from HHP. The main difference is the 6.4 makes a lot more torque down low than this modded 5.7. My engine is hitting over 400ft-lbs at just 1250RPM. Also, the 6.4 is hitting over 400HP by 4,000RPM whereas the 5.7 needs to get over 5,000RPM to get to 400. My peak numbers are similar 425@6010 and 427@3960 but the 6.4 gives me a much wider power peak. In fact, I am sure I could get another 25-35 HP if I changed my exhaust. I am currently running the stock 300C 5.7 exhaust which is not very free flowing. On the positive side, the car is as quiet as a base 300 but with Scat Pack power so troopers don't even give it a second look on the highway!

@scitizenkane1 Yeah, I would definitely get that with my car because I would get a new tune. The current tune is for loads of low end torque because I have the stock 5.7 300 exhaust and granny gears. Going to a 3.06 LSD and a free flowing exhaust, they could easily put in a tune and get 25 HP
That's a perfect 5.7 hemi build I can't wait to build mine with similar specs, what kind of cam grind does that 5.7 have whats the lift and duration specs and lsa

The 5.7 hemi community really appreciates this, there are a lot of us out here. Is it ok to go with a larger stall converter on this set up ? But I’m assuming that your performance cam was spec’ed out to work with the stock converter. Thanks

What makes this so great is majority of dodge fans have a 5.7 hemi if not a v6 so it only makes sense but to do this, and they do everything in steps so you can see what kind of power you’ll get from this i don’t something to crazy but this definitely makes me want to cam my 5.7

These are similar numbers i was pushing in my 15' 5.7L Challenger (Cam,Headers,tune) I finally did a procharger a couple of years ago, im now @545rwhp and 560rwtq stock bottom end and conservative tune. No issues so far, currently at 90K miles on odometer. 👍

Hey quick ? Brother nag-1 charger 5.7 currently on 85 Shorty headers and a throttle body hellcat air box filter. I was thinking about doing the cam kid in a gear but I also wouldn’t mind just swapping the six floor and Baltimore right in which one should I do which one do you recommend? Is there a reason why people don’t do the six floor is it because it’s costly to install it?

Sounds and looks great. I have a 2021 5.7 Challenger RT Plus. I would love to do all that do it, unfortunately, I need my warranty incase something goes wrong. Mine is slightly modded w/ 3" catback exhaust and hellcat lower airbox. The dealer had no issues working with it when I took it in for claims (manufacturer error that needed to be fixed). I guess I'll just have to wait until the warranty on the motor goes out before I tinker around with the PCM and add headers.
@user-zn4tq6ib6r These aren't MOPAR parts though in the video. At the Scatpack Stage Kits aren't the preferred ways to go. I mean, not bad performance add ons, but way over priced for what you get and likely unavailable these days.

Nice work! Before you guys move to try a different manifold and throttle body , you guys should try porting both stock items , and re dyno just so people can if they can gain a bit more with ported stock mani and throttle … then add e-85 to see the gains , this channel is awesome!! Great content! 🫶🏻
My owners manual tell me not to put e 85 in my car. Would they have to add something to the fuel system to make it run.
@@walt669 yes you need new injectors, ethanol content sensor, and probably a fuel pump and filter as well. And of course a tune to match

This is what I want to do with my 14 Charger AWD 5.7L Stage 2 Cam and tune. I have shorties on now and a cat back system. The longs is favorable. But I'll stick to the shorties for now.

Finally. A 5.7 hemi car that could outrun my bone stock rcsb f150. Intake headers and tune have never been enough to get the job done but the cam and valvetrain work would be the ticket to beating me with no tune, no intake, and no exhaust.
Only other thing I would do is a full 3 inch exhaust, ported 6.4 manifold, throttle body, and deck the heads to get to 11.5:1 compression

What if you get the stage 2 upgrade first and then want the stage 3 will you have to pay full price because you have half the stuff with the stage 2 upgrade just asking?
Similar stage 3 conversion would work on a 3,5 NA Chrysler ? Base hp 250! I would be happy for 50 extra thanks

So about 500 chp from the 5.7. Not too shabby. So what keeps it from revving into the 6000 rpm range? Intake manifold? Heads restrictive?

On a 09+, it's a direct bolt on. If you're pre 09, you'd want to use the melling oil pump

Funny you say that, I have a RT getting build right now. My mod list are, custom grind cam, 392 manifold, long tube headers and custom tune. With maybe mayyyyyybe running the secret spray as well. It’s a 2019 TA so I already have an “aftermarket air intake.
so with that would be prob be a 440 who and e85 another 20hp so 460whp😂 thats possible i think and some weigth reduction

Tbh i want to go with the 5.7 only because of the tuning potential and mods you can do with them. With the stage three package can u still daily the car and go on long road trips?
I drove my car 400 miles back home from national speed and got 23 miles to the gallon and loved it!
Mine is pretty much specd out like this (I also have ported heads, 392 intake manifold) and it still drives wonderfully and I daily it. No issues. How it will drive is really up to how good the tuner is though, not necessarily mod dependent.
